Hey cdixon11!
Here is an article that can help you troubleshoot this issue with your iTunes installation regarding that error code:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone.

  • Can I download an older version of iTunes?

    Here is my situation:
I had iTunes running fine on my machine under Windows7 64bit, that is until I had a hard drive failure and needed to reinstall. I was running iTunes version 8.2, and was able to backup my iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files, along with all of my music.
I have reinstalled Windows7 64bit and have downloaded iTunes and installed it, but when I place my old .itl and .xml files into the folder, it tells me I have an invalid library and it scraps it and builds a new one. Is this because the new iTunes version is now 8.2.1? I can see in the xml file where it identifies itself as version 8.2. Is there someplace I can go to download the older version and try again?
Is there something I am doing wrong, or a different approach I should take?
    Thanks,
    -David

You should be able to recreate your library using the backed up xml file, see here for instructions:

  • Where can i download an older version of itunes?

Am not impressed with the new itunes version taking away the ability to back-up music library to disc (backing up whole library that is, not just playlists) and so i am looking for somewhere i can download the older version 10.1.1 from.  Ideas anyone?

    No, check this instead: http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php

I downloaded and reinstalled my old iTunes, didn't loose any music, but still ***** because they apparently won't let you access the iTunes store unless you upgrade. So those with older systems just rot.

  • Is there any way to download an older version of iTunes?

My iPhone won't connect to my laptop because I have an outdated version of iTunes. However, I can't download the newest version of iTunes because I don't have windows 7, so it stops loading at 18.70% every time I try. How can I fix this?? Where can I download an older version of iTunes but still be able to plug my phone in?

There is no requirement to have Windows 7 to run the current version of iTunes.
If you want an older version of iTunes, a simple google search will show where to find older installers.
However, if you would prefer to resolve the real issue (which likely will still occur even with an older version of iTunes), try the following:
    Disable any security software.
Try downloading from a different browser.

  • I would like to download an older version of iTunes for a 32-bit operating system, how can I do this?

I would like to download an older version of iTunes for Windows Vista which has a 32-bit operating system. Any suggestions on how I can do this?

    Hi JNPhillips1,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Visit the main iTunes download page from your computer, and you should see the 32-bit download "iTunes 11.0.5 for Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7:"

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How can I download an older version of iBooks?

I want to use iBooks on my (old) 2nd gen ipod touch. I bought a book for it. When I try to download, of course, the latest version is not compatible...but it asks me if I want to download an older version. I say yes. The greyed-out icon appears, "waiting" to download...and then disappears. Nothing.
I have tried both installing iBooks from app store on my ipod touch and also clicking "install" in the apps section of my ipod from my computer's itunes store. Didn't work.
Anyone know what I can do, please?

Have a read of this thread:

You could also Google apps for iPod Touch 2nd gen.

  • HT4623 Hi, I have an iPod touch 2G with an iOS of 4.2.1 and there are no updates available for my device, I want to download an older version of iBooks that is compatible with my device. Pls what can I do?

Hi, I have an iPod touch 2G with an iOS of 4.2.1 and there are no updates available for my device, I want to download an older version of iBooks that is compatible with my device. Pls what can I do?

    - The 2G iPod can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. It does not have the hardware to support a higher iOS version.
    - Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
    - You can only download the current version from the App store.

  • Downloading an older version?

Is there a way to download an older version of iTunes that is compatible with my operating system? I have Mac OS X 10.4.1 on my iBookG4, but when I try to install the latest version of iTunes, it says that I need Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later.
If I am able to download a version of iTunes that is compatible with my operating system, will I still be able to download songs, because this is the whole reason I am doing this...the iTunes I have now says that I need to download another version to download songs.
    Thanks for your help!

What version are you running now?
This web site has all manner of iTunes.
I'm not sure why you aren't upgrading to Tiger 10.4.11. What version OSX are you running now? I have the feeling that to download songs you will need to be running the latest or a pretty recent version of iTunes
The reason I, myself, am not upgrading to 10.4.11 is that the Combo Update "hangs" my computer at the "Restart" phase. I've tried several times.
I found out that the update I did a week ago won't work om my 10.4.8 OS, which does everything I need. I wouldn't mind having 10.4.11, but I don't see a need, if I can get iTunes back by other means, which is why I'm looking here.
All I use iTunes for is to listen to internet radio - I don't have an iPod & I doubt I'd be buying music for one, should I ever get one. Right now I have no idea what I'd do with an iPod.
    Any inputs welcome, Thanks -Oly

  • I had an old version of firefox & it made me upgrade to a newer version, however once I upgraded it said it does not work with my Mac that is a OS 10.4 & not I cannot access or download firefox, how can I download a older version for my Mac?

I had firefox on my computer and it made me download the newer version, but once I downloaded it, it said it does not work on my computer which is a Mac OS 10.4 and now I cannot use firefox at all on my computer. How do I download an older version that will work on my computer?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs at least OSX 10.5+ and Intel hardware.
The latest you can use on your Intel with OSX 10.4.11 is Firefox 3.6.25 (released recently) which can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were to update to say OSX 10.5.8 then you can use Firefox 9.0.1

  • Why can't I download an older version of Pages from the App Store?

Is there any way to download an older version of Pages? Specifically, version 4.2?
Upgrading my OS from 10.6.8 is not an option, and I live overseas in a place where I'm completely unable to recieve disks for older iWorks through the mail. This is frustrating... the App should either be compatible or alternatively should keep older versions available, if not on the app store then on the website somewhere. I'm willing to pay Apple for an older version, but have yet to figure out how that's even an option.
Would love to know if there's a way to get Pages 4.2 that I've missed. Thanks

    Google "Apple iWork '09 Installer".
Apple seems to have pulled the plug on the manual updaters so you may have to Google those as well.

  • I am using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 (a speech recognition software) to navigate through Firefox, but ever since I downloaded the newest version of Firefox how can I download some older versions?

ever since I downloaded the newest version of Firefox, my Dragon NaturallySpeaking hasn't been working very well. For example, I will say "click register" or "click contact us" to select links and buttons on websites. Before this worked fine, but now it hardly works at all, which makes me think that because I am using a Dragon NaturallySpeaking program from 2007 or 2008, that it just doesn't know how to handle a program like Mozilla Firefox six that was written after its time. Or maybe it's the operating system? I was running an older version of Mozilla on Windows XP and now I am on Microsoft's seven.
What I want to try is to download an older version of Mozilla Firefox to see if the problems go away. I don't know if that would mean I would use Mozilla five or four, but I would like to try both. How can I do this, when I go to the website it says "you have the most updated version" and will let me access in the winter versions click post question that post question
