I had a computer crash and Hard drive data lost, so I reinstalled Itunes on my new hard drive and now cannot locate ALL of the purchases I had done in the past.
I thought that ALL itunes purchases were held on the Apple server for itunes.
When I reinstalled my itunes on my new hard drive, there were NO histoical purchases on my itune account.
Any thoughts to a solution.
Thanks
Make sure you have at least iTunes 10.3.1, then go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the new Purchases link under the Quick Links. The new iTunes in the Cloud service may allow you to re-download your purchased content (music, videos and TV shows not available for re-downloading in all countries at this time; movies and audiobooks not available for re-downloading at all yet). You can also do this from an iOS device.

How can the number of computers used for an iTunes account be updated? I had to reinstall itunes on a new hard drive it and counted as an additional computer, against my 5 total computers.
wait until you reach the limit of five authorized machines. then, once a year, you will be able to deauthorize all machines, following which you can reauthorize those computers you currently use/have access to.

I have my large iTunes library on an external hard drive. Can I set up ITunes on my new Macbook Pro and transfer/copy this library to the internal hard drive or are there any problems I should be aware of?
ITs an old Iomega 100gb external HD that has about 90gb of music on it. The Macbook has a 500gb HD. I would like to put the iTunes library on the internal HD so I have room to expand.

You can copy it to the internal hard drive as long as it fits on it. How big is your library, and how big is your internal HD?
The only thing you do not want to do is over-stuff the internal hard drive. The OS needs some space to operate correctly, so if your iTunes library uses up more than say 80 to 85% of the internal HD's available space it may not be a good idea to transfer it over.
With that said, the internal HD will provide slightly faster access to the library than the external would, but other than that, you can point iTunes to the external drive just fine. -

I've had a fault with the hard drive on my laptop, it's been replaced and now my iphone and ipod can not sync unpurchased items with itunes. Is there anyway of sorting this without uploading all of my CD's again?
If your CDs are on your iPod/iPhone, they can be recovered from there, see this post:

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.
I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
Go to 'Settings'
'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync! -
Moving iTunes to a new hard drive
I followed Apple's instructions to move iTunes when I changed the hard drive on my first generation MacBook Pro (i.e., consolidate, change the media folder location), but when I opened a brand new version of iTunes on the new drive (holding down the option key) and pointed to the file on the external drive, it said that it couldn't find the library file. I assume that I had done everything right up to that point, because it took more than 5 hours to move my media onto the external drive. I have most of my media on my iPod, but I want to preserve my playlists, ratings, and (if possible) date added information, which I understand will not transfer to iTunes from my iPod. I have Googled and Googled the problem but have been completely stymied at every turn. I have been iTune-less for more than 2 weeks now--please help!

consolidating your library to an external HD only moves the media files but keeps the library files local.
hold the option key and launch iTunes. click on +choose library+ and select the iTunes folder in <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on our internal drive.

In trying to free up memory on my C: drive, I'm trying to move iTunes to a partitioned D: drive but my iPad then sees it as a "new" computer and won't sync without erasing and re-synching. Any suggestions?

COMPUTER CRASHED! how to recover lost library??
my computer crashed, wiping out everything! I re-installed/downloaded iTunes but all songs from previous library LOST. how do i recover them?
Well the few that you don't have on your iPod may be lost for good. You might be able to write to Apple and convince them to allow you to redownload them if you explain your situation. As to the rest...
