I have a G5 power PC dual 2ghz 10.5.8 and my recording interface stopped outputting. I used 2 different interfaces and changed cables, neither solved my problem. With everything plugged up i can hear playback through the internal speaker.

I have tried System preferences, input and output. I have tried the midi controls in utilities. With everything hooked up correctly I cannot get the interface to playback through the box or record now. When i hit play I can hear the playback coming through the internal speaker on the tower. The interface previously worked fine, bought a second one and it is doing the same thing. Must be a system issue. Please help!

If there's an Apple store nearby make an appointment with the genius bar to have it checked. Be sure to sync it and back it up, as well as import your photos and videos to your computer and back up your contacts separately (such as by sync them with iCloud) in case it needs to be replaced.

Make sure that the computer is connected to the router on the Ethernet port..Now,check the ip address on the computer....Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then,Adjust the Browser Settings on the computer....Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on O.k...Close the IE and re-open it...

When I open Garageband I get the same identical stack of guitar and on pedal displayed. I get no sound from the guitar. They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

alright, i recently recorded a few songs they consist of a looped drumbeat some software and real instruments. I made sure all were panned to the center, but when i listen to it on a cd or on itunes i can only hear a majority of the parts through the left speaker. the part that comes through the right speaker is the looped drum beat. place a shape on the slide from the shapes tool or (Insert > Shape) to act as a clickable button,

Recording an acoustic guitar through the internal mic - quality terrible

Hey guys,
I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year now, and since I got it I always used Garageband to record stuff straight from my acoustic through the internal mic. Now, it seems like after 5 or so seconds, the sound quality goes way down, and I get some sort of flange-like effect. Everything starts sounding really muddy and the strumming turns into really bass-y noise. I haven't made any changes or anything, and I tried it with vocals and guitar, guitar, and vocals, each have the same effect. The sound quality sounds fine on playback for the first few seconds and then it drops. No effects are enabled - its on basic track.
Any suggestions? This is extremely irritating!

i don't know what's wrong w/ your Mac, but it maybe time to invest in an external mic, an outboard mixer or a digital(FW/USB) interface & mic combo. i don't think the internal is the greatest for making music. just a thought. a mdest mixer from Behringer is around $60.00 & a decent cardioid dynamic mic is around $80.00-100.00.

If you truly own an iPod classic, I'm not exactly sure how music can be heard playing from it, since it doesn't have an external speaker.
Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It might not hurt to try a different set of headphones as well.
The last resort is to restore the iPod to factory settings via iTunes and if the issue still persists, it's likely a hardware problem with the headphone jack.
