I have a m2007 macbook connected to my wireless network using time capsule.  I stream video to the macbook, but often get start stop of the streaming, but no wheel to indicate a buffering issue.  Can I resolve this with higher speed internet and cable mod

I'm wondering if my cable internet is too slow for wireless streaming of videos to other macbooks.  Any help will be appreciated

Can you clarify whether you are asking about video that you are streaming from the Internet to your Mac through the Time Capsule?
Or, are you asking about streaming video that is already stored on the Time Capsule to your Mac?
In either case, what happens....video quality wise..... if you test by temporarily turning off the wirelss on the Mac and then connecting it to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule using a spare Ethernet cable for a few hours?

my ipad 4 has been connected to my wireless network using a netgear sky broadband router succesfully for a few weeks, suddenly can't connect, network is showing but no signal - all other wireless gadgets are connected just fine - including iphone - any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Using time capsule to migrate to a new macbook

i just purchased a new macbook (see specs below). i used time capsule to backup my old macbook which i am now selling. two questions... can i use time machine in migration assist to transfer all the info from my old mac to my new one? if so how? thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes. Or you can simply connect the two computers via Firewire cable and boot your old computer into Target Disk Mode. Use Migration Assistant to transfer your files.
Note that your old username/account name and the one on the new machine cannot be the same if you plan to migrate the entire Home folder.
Also note that the new machine will have Leopard, not Tiger. Do not attempt to migrate the operating system. Restrict your transfers to the Home folder and third-party applications.

  • Use time capsule as a hard disk for macbook air

I am running out of disk space on my macbook air.
If I buy a time capsule, can I use it as regular external storage as well as backing up the air?

Yes, but all the copies of a file you want to keep shouldn't be on only one drive, as it may fail at any time.

  • Please help with connecting a PC wirelessly to my Time Capsule

    Hello,
After great assistance from William Boyd and Bob Timmons (thanks again, guys), I have successfully set up my 1TB Time Capsule and all of my (3) Macs work just fine via Ethernet and/or Wirelessly. Each connect easily to the web and print on all connected printers, Ethernet and USB, connected to the Time Capsule.
However, despite many hours, I can only get a PC running Windows XP to connect to the web and print to all three printers (using Bonjour) via Ethernet, but NOT wirelessly.
My set up is as follows:
DSL Modem, Ethernet Cord 'out' and into the WAN of the Time Capsule (TC)
TC: Ethernet to Apple Laserwriter, iMac computer (but disconnected until I run Time Machine for the first time), Ethernet (Powered) Hub, and USB to a Canon Inkjet Printer. Using WPA/WPA2 Personal.
Hub: Ethernet to a Powered Ethernet Adapter...plugged into the wall. A companion Powered Ethernet Adapter is on the other side of the house, which is connected via Ethernet to a Dual G4 tower and Xerox Laser Printer. There is also an Airport Extreme Base Station connected to the Powered Ethernet Hub for wireless connectivity on that side of the house.
Importantly, prior to the Time Capsule, I had a Linksys Router and the AEBS, and the PC easily connected wirelessly.
Strangely, the PC is not even picking up a wireless signal!!!!.
    Can someone assist?
Thanks so much for whatever recommendations and assistance you can provide.

Strangely, the PC is not even picking up a wireless signal!!!!.
Clearly the PC has to join your wireless network for anything to happen. I suspect this is due to a wireless security setting. Once connected wirelessly, I think you'll be able to print just fine using Bonjour.
Since this seems unrelated to anything specific to the Time Capsule, I suggest you try the Airport for Windows forum. Good luck!

  • Connect to Existing Wireless Network Using AE and 2WIRE Home Portal

I would like to use my airport express to connect to an existing wireless network set up in my place, I got a pc wireless network connected with a 2Wire Homeportal 1000HW.
I've tried with the Assitant in both options, just joining the network to play music or joining the network to extend the range and nothing works, always the AE disappears.
Can I do that with my home portal or I need a different one?
If I need a new one what should I buy, my provider is SBC (DSL)
    HP Pavilion zv6000   Windows XP

I am on a Mac and can do this with my 2Wire 1000SW. Not sure what the difference is, but I imagine it's just speed (mine is 802.11b). The reference to another posting on the 2Wire says that you must disable WEP. I have all my security still in place. When I run the setup utility and ask it to join my existing network (2Wire Network), it asks for my WEP and runs from there.
Were you able to get this to work?

  • Connect to Existing Wireless Network Using Airport Express?

I would like to use my airport express to connect to an existing wireless network set up in my apartment. The wireless router (linksys) is set up in my roommate's room to his desktop. I have a printer in my room and would like to use the airport express to connect to this existing network so that my roommates and i can print wirelessly. I need to keep the printer in my room.
Is there a way to do this? Please advise.
    Thanks.

Is the LinkSys a WRT54G? If so, you have two options. If not, only the first option below is available to you:
    1. You can configure the Express to connect as a wireless client. You won't be able to connect wirelessly directly to the Express in this mode; you have to connect through the router.
    2. With the proper firmware in the WRT54G, you can set up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). In this configuration, not only can the Express be used for printing and AirTunes, but it will also extend the range of your wireless network.

  • Not able to connect to wireless network by Time Capsule

Since yesterday (also updated time capsule firmware) I have reset my time capsule several times and re-setup my wireless (through time capsule). Wireless is visable in Airport configuration, but can not connect (either time out or keeps asking password). Ethernet through capsule to internet works OK, but wireless not. Ipad keeps asking me to connect to my own network; after inputting password no connection possible).

Hello tfh12. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
There is always a possibility that something may go awry when updating firmware. I would suggest at this point of reinstalling the earlier version to see if this resolves the problem.
If it does, you can always attempt to upgrade again.
To manually download and install previous (earlier) versions of firmware...
    o Open AirPort Utility.
o From AirPort Utility menu, hold the Option key and choose Check for Updates....
o Select (place a check mark beside) the version you require.
    o Click Download.
o Select your base station then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o From the Base Station menu choose Upload Firmware....
o Select a firmware version and click OK.

  • Can't connect to home wireless network using WPA2

    Using PowerPC 10.4 Tiger.
Wireless is detected by airport card with pw prompt as WEP, but the network actually uses WPA2. Enter PW in prompt, but, of course, it was rejected.
My iPhone can get into my WiFI with WPA2 just fine.
    What gives?
When network is configured for WEP, I can log in just fine, but can't take advantage of 802.11n (pre)

To use WPA2 requires an Airport Extreme card.
Run Apple System Profiler and under "Network" select "Airport Card" and it will tell you what type of Airport Card you have. If you don't have an Airport Extreme, you can't use WPA2.
Also, even if you have Airport Extreme cards in your computers, you may need to install extra software to enable use with 802.11n as described in this link

  • Issue with High Speed Internet

For the last 15-20 days my DSL connection drops between the hours of 5 pm and 9 pm. For about 4 hours I don't have internet. Connection sometimes pick up and then drops again after a few seconds.
I called Verizon customer support several times. Talked to several "technicians" on the phone and the problem continues.
They scheduled a technician to come to my home 4 times and nobody showed up. Nobody called from Verizon explaining why they didn't show up. And the problem continues. No internet for about 4 hours every day.
They don't seem to know what's going on. Every time a call I get different 'stories' about what the problem could be. Different reasons trying to explain the problem, but so far they just cannot fix it.
I think I am really wasting my time calling Verizon, but I will continue calling.
So far, Verizon customer service has been a horror. It is by far the worst support I ever experienced.
It seems to me that Verizon technicians are just ignoring the problem thinking that someday I will stop calling.
Is Verizon ever going to fix the problem?
Will a technician ever show up? (and really do something about it)
Is anybody else experiencing this kind of problem where connection drops in the evenings?
    Please HELP!!....

  • How to change output video resolution.  I have 1920x1080 video but sharing from FCPX only allows 640x480.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

I have 1920x1080 video file that I edited.  When I attempt to share the edited file from FCPX, it only allows 640x480 output resolution.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

    Hi,
Final Cut will output the video at the resolution of your project's timeline.
You can change the settings and scale your project up though by adjusting the sequence settings and then, if necessary, copying and pasting attributes to scale up the sequence.
I had this question before and made a video explanation of how to re-scale a sequence here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=***9d-rHsKo&feature=youtu.be .
If you have any more questions about this then just drop me a message here.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • MacBook Pro cannot connect to a wireless network

I am having the following problem with my MacBook Pro trying to connect to a wireless network using a 2WIRE Gateway wireless Router from Bell that worked perfectly until last night. My network preferences pane is saying "AirPort has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.227.XX and will not be able to connect to the Internet." I'm not a techie and I've tried everything I know and cant get my MacBook to connect to the internet using the wireless network in my home. I'm using ethernet connected directly to my router for this! It's killing me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

OK. The wireless network was selected. In the Preferences / Network pane I removed Airport by selecting it and hitting the - button and then created a new Airport by hitting + and selecting Airport. I'm getting the same result. Full network signal once the ethernet cable is connected. Greyed out icon with ! once I remove the ethernet cable and no internet. I appreciate your help so far. Any other thoughts? We also have an iPad, iPhobe, iPod, and two iMacs on the same network. All of them are connected no problem. My Macbook also still connects to the network in my workplace no problem. This all just started happenening yesterday and I don't believe I changed or upgraded anything. I just came home and it had stopped working.

  • Can connect to protected wireless network, but no speed or connectivity?

I saw other people had this issue as well, but I want to make sure my issue isn't a different subject (sometimes I get lost in the technical jargon). Anyway, since I updated my MBP I have been able to connect to my wireless network (password protected) fine, and it shows I have great signal strength; however, when I attempt to use the internet, only the first pages loads really, after that pages are extremely slow to load (30 seconds, etc), time out, or simple can't connect. I don't know what to do. I can connect to the other open wireless networks. I know it is not the router or my wireless card. Any suggestions?
