I have a mid-70's MacBook 13 inch with OS X LION installed. Won't accept the new Maverick. Can I still, at least, install Snow Leopard?

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs > http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

I can't get the files to drag onto a file or onto the SD card. What should I do?
Did you accidentally engage the lock slider on the side of the card? What exact error messages are you seeing?

I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV? I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV. This feature seems to be lost in the Mountain Lion upgrade. Did Apple feel that once Mountain Lion came out that EVERYONE would have Apple TV? There are no settings in System Preferences/Display like there used to be...only for AirPlay Mirroring.
Running a cable to the HDMI port is still supported. (and still works on mine).
If the Arrangement tab in System Preferences > Displays isn't present then it doesn't recognize the physical connection. Double check all cables. If that doesn't work try a PRAM reset:

I have a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.4. The DVD player does not have a feature to store film clips. Why? This is useful for my work and I had it on my older computer? Why the loss of capacity?
I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly): -

I have a 2008 or 2009 Macbook with Mac OS X version 10.5.8. I recently bought a new Mac but want to download iCloud so I can save everything from the one I have now. The research I've done says you have to have OS X Lion to use iCloud. My question is can I download Lion with my current software?
Yes. See:
Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -

I have an iMac and a MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo processors. I realize that this is within the stated requirements for Lion. However was wondering if by migrating to Lion this will result in too much demand on processor resources, thus a slower machine than using Snow Leopard?
Which iMac? Which Macbook? Both have had several model
itertations, even within the framework of a Core2Duo processor.
With that said, I have an early 2009 iMac 24", with 2.66 GHz
Core2Duo with 8 gig of RAM, and in my opinion, seems to be running
smoother and faster with Lion. -

Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro? Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?
Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro?
Yes, if you are asking about using Time Machine to backup the Mac.
Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?
You are not thinking of deleting the photos and files on your Mac, are you? If you do this, you will have no backups for those files.
Another concern is that Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point, Time Machine will automatically delete the photos and files from the Time Capsule.....you just don't know when this might occur.
In other words, only delete files from your Mac that you can afford to lose. -
I'm running Photoshop CS3 (Ver. 10.0.1) on a MacBook with OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.5) will I loose access to my Photoshop if I upgrade to Yosemite?
There's just a flurry of complaints about CS3 crashing under Yosemite. The upgrade is known to damage CS5 installs. Adobe only certifies CS6, CC, and CC 2014 as being tested for Yosemite.
I would not advise it. You would more than likely have to reinstall CS3 and its' updates, as well as your printer drivers and no guarantee it will be the same.
If your work depends on CS3 functioning, hold off for now, or until you upgrade Photoshop.
You are taking chances you probably don't need to. If it works, don't fix it.

I locked my MacBook with the find my iPhone app, then it switched itself off and now, when i restart it there is a white screen with a folder and a questionmark appearing on the screen, I can type in the password or do anything all. I really didn't wipe it, and in the app it says: MacBook locked toay at 15:49.
I am really desperate. Plz help me.
Thanks.Did you setup a lock code? I have done this operation via iCloud just few minutes ago and it's booted with 4 numbers lock code just fine. When you lock your Mac, it's restarts automaticly and then loads with lock screen and you are only able to enter password of 4 numbers to unlock it.

I bought a Mountain Lion upgrade for $20 off the Apple site. I have four other Macs all under the same ID. How can I share the new OS with other computers. Or can I?
You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's). You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.
Use this thread to find a method of copying the ML download into a USB drive to make other installations easier: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16639520#16639520 -
I am having trouble with my sign in with the new Maverick system. I type 4 or 5 letters of my name and three disappear and I have to start over. It does it all the time and even when my wife signs in with her name and password. Anyone know a cure. Dave
Try resetting the admin pasword ...
OS X: Changing or resetting an account password < instructions are for Lion and Mountain Lion but should work on Mavericks.
Or, try here > OS X: Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password
