First, you don't have a 5+ year old 3GS. The 3GS has only been around for under 4 years. In fact, 5 years ago there were NO iPhones; the original iPhone (2 generations before the 3GS) came out on June 29, 2007 - not quite 5 years ago. The 3GS was released June 19, 2009.
That aside, you can sync multiple phones to one computer - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495. boogeyman is wrong. It is 100% safe to create an additional user name on her computer, log in with that name, and back up the phone. See this for details on what you want to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

I Have recieved now 2 emails from O2 saying I have a picture message from a mobile number sent to me. the email has the paper clip which I know usually means there is an attatxhment. When opening there is no option to open anything just says you have recieved a message from this number no attachment. Can anyone help please? X
You did not get an email, you got a MMS. You have to enable MMS on your phone before you can see the picture.

After changing my Apple ID I do not seem to be able to recognize it as my proper ID. It does work properly for an iTunes login and password, but, it is not displayed that way on my device when I look at my iCloud settings and other "system level" settings.
How do I correct this to be confident that I can use a feature, such as "Find My iPhone" and know that the functions and contact info is correct?To change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.

I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone. How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them. You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up under one account.
You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

IF you do find a backup that has your contacts; I'd /highly/ recommand turning off your wifi network after the restore is finished because if the issue is with your iCloud your contacts may merge back with her's.
With iCloud you DO NOT want to share the account; bad things happen Evil evil thigns...
But in all seriousness; if two devices have the same iCloud; iCloud is told to merge and sync infomation between hte two and can't tell that it doesn't belong to the same person -
I have an iphone6. I am unsure whether to go from 8.1.3 operating system and switch to ICloud Drive or not? Has anyone done this? Is it awesome? I need to be able to access my resume from phone. I have an 11 yr old who I want to use my apple id on our Iphones jointly. We do not want her to have an email address currently because of some issues. Anyway, does both phones being connected to the same apple id mean that when IMessage is used that we both get the same messages? Also, what causes our pics to each other not to go through the system? Thank you for any assistance!
IF both devices have the same Apple ID signed in ; it will believe the devices are meant to both recieve them. My biggest recommandation is you can create an email address for your daughter and in the future when she gets her own email address she can chang ethe primary email address to the up to date one.

I have a new email address but when I am asked to sign in with my Apple ID for Apple store my iPad automatically shows my old email and rejects my password. How do I get around this?
I kind of agree with Philly on this one. If you get a new email address, there is no need to establish an entirely new account to use that address. You just need to modify your account to show the new email address. This way all your purchase history and rights to purchased apps stays in place. Creating a new iTunes/Apple account each time your email address changes really doesn't make sense in my opinion. I only point this out for future searchers who end up on this thread.
