I have an Ipod Touch version 2.2.1. It recently has lost the ability to shuffle. It plays the same song over over even after I select shuffle. It does this when I am playing from my playlest or albums. The Books work by chapter.

No, it stays with the current OS (iOS5 in this case) - Apple doesn't allow downgrading iOS
If you are syncing to a desktop, you shoudln't lose anything. If you aren't syncing, then that's the first thing you should do, to protect contacts etc.
the other thing is, when the iPad is connected to iTunes, right-click its name in the Devices list and choose Back Up.
That way, when yoiu do the restore, everything should come back as was.

No, you can't update your 2G iPast past iOS 4.2.1. The graphics hardware on the 2G does not support the latest Open GLS.

The hardware on the 2G does not support an iOS version higher than 4.2.1. If you want apps that require a higher version you will need to get a newer model iPod.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.

I usually use FF 3.6 version to download data from my company intranet. With old FF version I can access the intranet easily. I want to add my progress about this problem. I find this problem in IE 9, but it has compatibility view, though not too perfect but quite helpful. Whereas FF 4, from article in support, said it doesn't have one. So, I beg you FF team to accommodate us who still deal with old web design so we still can use this FF 4. Please..please..please. I still believe Firefox is the best browser and I hope FF team also responsive about current problem. Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the Mac as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your Mac first.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

You seem to have tried everything, and you say it's syncing fine on your Dad's iMac, so I assume, you have also done a Disk Diagnostic from an earlier post by tt2 and conclude that your iPod Hardisk is good.
You don't have to use it as a heavy paperweight, the problem is only using your Windows 7 machine for syncing.
In your troubleshooting steps, did you try to use another High-Speed USB 2.0 port, USB controller resource are very scarce, so if you use other USB devices, while syncing your iPod, it may just freeze.
Windows have a bad reputation for device conflict, so better don't connect other USB devices, while syncing, better sync it while disconnected from Internet, stop antivirus just before you go to bed.
