I have Mac OS X 10.4 - but Firefox 3.6.18; keep being harangued by your drop down window saying load Firefox 4 or 5; I do this including Adobe add-ons, but my Firefox edition does NOT upgrade. I am 65yrs, self-taught and stupid about computers.
This happens from time to time and I do comply to update my system. I think there is an incompatibility. I cannot afford to update my Mac to a more modern version which is where I suspect the incompatibility may lay.
I would not have known I needed to update Firefox without at least four occasions in which I have tried to upload Firefox 4 (no.4 I believe), at least four times because window was insistant, plus Adobe add-ons or flash player. Later I check and find what I have tried to do doesn't work or become more than what I already have.

I have upgraded Safari in my Mac, but the new Safari does not work with my system. So I find myself without any working browser. How can I solve this problem and/or install my previous Safari version?
Reinstall Safari 5.1.10 for OS X 10.6.8: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1569. Might do the trick.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari 5.1.10, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters. -
Since upgrading to the newest version of ios 8, I can no longer share my photos on facebook. I have tried going to settings-privacy-photos, but the facebook app does not show up for me to change the settings. Any suggestions?
when you opened the shared library with the newer version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11) you were given a warning that your library would be converted and could not be used by older versions - you clicked ok to go ahead - there is no updo available - either upgrade to iphoto '11 of the MBP or load your backup of the iPhoto '09 library on it - older versiopns of i{Photo can not read newer libraries

I have been trying to set up Sharing between two computers on my network. I did this once and it worked. However, when I try to set this up now the Sharing feature does not appear on the left side of the iTunes window (on either computer). There is no explanation as to why not. Is this a configuration problem, a network problem or what? Can it be fixed? I have tried turning sharing off and back on on both computers but to no avail. What am I missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If, while searching through your past purchases, items are unavailable to download and show a "Purchased" button, they are still on your computer. It may be best to search your iTunes library by clicking Music, then use the search bar at the top right.
If you are completely sure the items are no longer in your library, try signing out of the iTunes Store, and then back in.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I no longer have the option to organize bookmarks. Also when I start to type a website and I click on the suggestions that appear as I start to type... they do not appear in the space where I have started to type. This did not happen with my previous verion of Firefox. Everything worked perfectly.
Thank you Tony E... it did solve my book mark problem... but do you know why Foxfire 4 does not fill in websites they suggests to the area where I start to type in a search.
For instance I might start to type in Firefox to indicate that I want to go to the Firefox web site. But before I start to finish typing Fir... a box pop up with the suggestion Firefox. If I click on this suggestion it should fill the area I am typing and take me to the Firefox web site.
Unfortunately it does not do this now... they way it used to do before... in the older version of Firefox. -

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar.

I have Keynote '09 and have used it many times. Today I started another Keynote document, stopped for a while, came back to continue, and received, "You need a newer version of Keynote to open this document." ?? Stumped.
IOS Pages 2.0 and 2.1 implement an entirely incompatible document format with Pages ’09 v4.3. It cannot open them, and you are then prompted to update to Pages v5+ which is compatible with your IOS Pages.
Unfortunately, updating to Pages v5+ is a bad thing, as it is a brand new application that has omitted over 90+ features from Pages ’09 v4.3. When you update to Pages v5+, it will move your old still functional version of the earlier Pages into /Applications/iWork. Aside from all the missing functionality, Pages v5+ will likely damage older documents that depend on specific Pages ’09 v4.3 features (including AppleScript and custom Templates).
Oh, by the way, the older and new Pages documents have the same filename extension (.pages) making document organization difficult without applying different tag colors to old and new documents.
We are recommending that users remain on their earlier Pages version. You may have to export documents from IOS Pages as Word .docx to avoid the OS X Pages update notice. -
I have a firewire scanner but my new computer does not have a firewire port
I have a Nikon Coolscan firewire scanner, but my new computer does not have a firewire port. Are there any suggestions on how I can continue to use my scanner? Is there some form of Firewire to USB interface?

JohnI would think Gene's adapter will work fine, but if you are stuck, it might be useful to find larger number of Nikon users to ask. The DPReview forums come to mind, except they are split into sections. If you are on flickr, there is bound to be a general Nikon group. The Canon group on flickr gets a ton of traffic and has a trillion members. Then there are places like Fred Miranda and Luminous Landscape, that is mostly populated by grown ups with lots of knowledge. On second thoughts, forget about Luminous Landscape, unless that was a typo in your first post, and you actually have a Hasselblad or PhaseOne scanner

You need to enable the Add-ons bar (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars; Ctrl+/) or the Find bar (Ctrl+F) to make Firefox scroll the page while selecting text.

Upgrading to 6.0.6 causes thumbnails to blank out and editing does not save
I recently updated to 6.0.6 and am having some issues with it.
1) opening the program has it find images still needing to import - though not true they were there.
2) medium and large thmbnails are missing and rebuilding did not fix but rather caused them to mixup those since the update. Some had thumbnails that pointed to different photos - or rather the thumbnail and the opened photo don't match. Sometimes a thumbnail but not photo (grey !) but a function click and revert broght back the right photo/
3) photo editing does not seem to save. The photo corrects but an arrow click or exit does not bring up change dialog and upon reentering edit mode no changes are evident on the photo.
