  • I have multiple iPhoto libraries I would like to consolidate

I have an iMac, 2 MacBooks, and a windows7 laptop. I would like to consolidate all of my iPhoto libraries to a new Mac mini with an external 2tb hard drive. What's the best way to accomplish this without creating duplicates, and more importantly, without losing any information?

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager

  • I have multiple iPhoto libraries w/ duplicates in several. How can I consolidate and find the dupes? Some photos are versions of the original.

I have multiple iPhoto libraries w/ duplicates in several. How can I consolidate and find the dupes? Some photos are versions of the original. On my iMac, I also have many folders containing some of the same photos. My computer is used for both personal and business purposes. My libraries should be separated, one for each.

To merge libraries use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  or Aperature
To find duplicates within an iPhoto library use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -
Photos that are not in an iPhoto library can be imported telling iPhoto not to import duplicates (an imperfect procews) and then IPLM can find the duplicates
As to keeping seperate libraries - only you can do that - IPLM can move photos between libraries for you but only you can know which photos should be in which library

  • I have multiple iPhoto libraries and when I selecting which library to view (hold down 'option' key and launch iPhoto from the dock) it automatically closes another open apps window eg. Chome, Word. 1 app closes every time I launch iPhoto this way.

I have multiple iPhoto libraries on my Macbook Air 10.7.5 and when I am selecting which library to view (hold down 'option' key and launch iPhoto from the dock) it automatically closes another open application window eg. Chome, Word. 1 app closes every time I launch iPhoto this way.

If you're pushing Option at the exact moment you're clicking the Dock icon, it's supposed to do that. Wait until just after clicking it.

  • Why do i have multiple iPhoto libraries

I am trying to migrate my iphoto library to a new location but i have 3 libraries to choose from. why were the others created? one library is 90gb, the other 2 are 22 gb
Should i just delete the other 2?

No way for anyone but you to know - you have multiple iPhoto libraries because you have created them - only you know when and why
And only you know if they are ok to trash - depress teh option key, launch iPhoto and use the select library window to open and check each one and then desiece if you want to keep it or delete it

  • I have several iphoto libraries i would like to merge and delete duplicates

i have several iphoto libraries i would like to merge and delete duplicates

The only way to merger libraries is to use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager . The paid version also has a duplicate finder feature that can identify duplicates.
If you have the latest versions of iPhoto AND Aperture you can merge libraries with Aperture.
These additional applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95 (also mergers libraries).
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported into another.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find duplicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
PhotoDedupo - $4.99 (App Store) -  this app has a "similar" search feature which is like PhotoSweeper's bitmap comparison.  It found all duplicates
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free - was able to recognize the duplicated HDR and normal files from an iPhone shooting in HDR
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: iphoto has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates:  PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto.  None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates.  IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

  • I am trying to make a calendar in iPhoto and I would like the month to start on Sunday , not Monday. Is that possible and if so how can i do that???? thanks.

i am trying to make a calendar in iPhoto and I would like the month to start on Sunday , not Monday. Is that possible and if so how can i do that???? thanks.

What system and iPhoto version are you running?  What theme are you using.
All of my calendars do have the month starting on Sunday,  Don't know of any way to change it.  Where are you located?
How do you have your Calendar application's preferences set to, Sunday or Monday start of week?

  • HT5525 How can I order more than one picture at a time in iphoto?

How can I order more than one picture at a time in iphoto?

It's also wise to crop the photos to the print size you're ordering so you have control over what portion of the image gets printed.  Otherwise, the image will be scaled so the smaller dimension fills the paper cropping off some of the oither dimension.

  • I have a MBP 15" with iPhoto 9. When right clicking on icon in dock 3 iPhoto libraries come up; one empty, one with 35,000 photos and one with 30,000 photos.  How can I delete the empty one and merge the other two without getting duplicates?

You can delete the empty one by dragging it to the trash ( test everything before emptying the trash)
Merging libraries requires iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  it is the only current solution to merging libraries

  • The new forced upon me upgrade for iPhoto '11 never opens. After I do all that is recommended, it sends me back to the beginning. How can I get it to work?

I am using a mac mini version 10.9.5 which I have just updated. Now when I try to open i photo, all I get is a message telling me to "prepare" my library. I have installed and run the iPhoto library upgrader, but it only sends me back to the beginning telling me to install the upgrader (which has already been installed.)
How can I actually get the upgrader to prepare my libraries and actually see photos?

What version of iPhoto are you currently running and what version did you have previous to the upgrade to 9.5.1?
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How can we select more than one item from LOV in Query_Find form?

    Hi,
I have a requirement i.e i want to select more than one customer number seperated by comma from the customer number lov field in the query_find form. How can we write the code for this requirement?
and after clicking find it has to display notification form which contains the details of customer which you selected from Custome query_find form.
Could you please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dhana

Found the "Search Entire Library" option - click on the small (VERY small for my eyesight) down arrow next to the magnifying glass. Also need to select "Filter by: Songs", and then the songs in the main window show the results.
I'm going to leave this up on the board because 1) in case someone else has this question, and 2) I don't know how to delete it anyway.

  • How can i select more than one record in a LOV

I want to select more than one record in a LOV and put them together before to display them in an item.

This is not possible with a default LOV, so you'll need to create your own. There are a number of ways to select multiple records:
    a) you can use a tree and set Multi-Selection to Yes
    2) you can use a normal block with a checkbox on each row for the user to select records
three) with the [SYSTEM.MOUSE_BUTTON_MODIFIERS|http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/forms/10g/topics/designing_forms/mouse/at0604.html?tp=true] variable you can allow users to ctrl+click to select many records in a block. set the background colour to indicate a record has been selected
iv) there is a pjc in the [demo code section|http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/demos/Forms_Demos_10gr2.zip] which lets you select many rows in a poplist

  • How can I view more than one result on the screen when I search for apps? eg I search for my hobby and there are over 1500 results - one result per screen - do I have to swipe 1500 times to see them all?

I search for apps about my hobby. There are over 1500 results. Each single result takes up the whole screen. I will have to swipe the screen 1500 times to see all the results. How can I see 8 or 10 results and scroll through fast? Thanks very much for any suggestions!

    Bump:)
But I've found some online reviews of this and I think we
are stuck with this amazingly awful search system until
they realize people like me won't bother searching for or buying
    Apps.
Does a novel display one sentence per page?
Do you listen to a radio documentary that transmits one word a minute?
Or how about a song that is broken into four parts because the singers ran out of breath?
Searching app products has never been easy or a pleasure, and now it's tougher than ever. Who has the time to swipe 1,600 times? It HURTS - and hurts my brain just thinking about it.
    Woe is me!
    Woe are we!

  • Can I have multiple iPhoto Libraries?

My iPhoto library is getting quite large as it becomes the sole management tool for all my family & friends events (and sometimes extended family).
I've recently had twins so I've been taking hundreds of photos (and movies) of them and have created an event for each day (up to 2 weeks) then an event for each week since they were born.
I do like to have events sorted cronologically, but this means that other events - such as the imported photos from a family members visit or a friends wedding - fall in the middle of the baby photos.
I'd like to keep using iPhoto Events as my main tool for photo management as I make good use of the galleries and books etc, but is there a way I could have a second library which, say, just had my children's events in it, and another for friends and family events?
    Thanks for any pointers.

I find sending lots of photos is the only way to keep the grandparents at bay..!
Careful there buckaroo. We grandparents stick together. I may have to notify them of this thread. Congrats.
I think you'll find iPhoto Library Manager a very useful tool. It's a breeze to manage multiple libraries and copy Events or Albums between them while keeping keywords, comments and titles intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • HT2534 I have three Apple IDs and would like to combine them all into one, can I do that and how?

When I started buying Apple products I did not realize how important it was to keep the same Apple ID and Password for all of the device.  As a result I have four Apple ID's.  I would like to only have one Apple ID for all my devices.  Is this possible and what do I ave to do to make it happen?  I appreciate any help you might be able to give me.  Thanks

It's not currently possible to merge accounts, nor to transfer content from account to another account - content will remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it.
