I have run the 3.6 upgrade, but everytime I open it I get a warning message saying I am running an older version do I want to upgrade? When I check the version in the help menu it is 3.6 and tools/check for updates says I am on most recent version??
when I said 'every time i open it' i meant 'open firefox browser'!
This can happen if you have an incorrect user agent string (identifies the version of Firefox). Some add-ons modify the user agent string causing it to show an old version of Firefox even if you have the latest version installed.

It is reporting that you have Firefox 3.5.3
As you are using Firefox 3.6.13 you need to reset the user agent string so that it will correctly identify the version of Firefox that you have installed, for details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. That page is no longer being maintained by Google.
You should try changing your home page to:
about:home
If you don't know how to change the home page, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].

While running Firefox, I got a prompt saying their was an update. I did that, but then got another message saying that it was recommended I update firefox to 4.0. I downloaded it, but never received a prompt to drag the image into my applications folder. I also never saw an image of firefox 4.0 on my desktop. Firefox 4.0 was in my downloads folder but got the above warning message when I clicked on it. I tried downloading it again, but the same thing happened. Now what? It appears that Firefox is still running, although I haven't yet tried to go to another website.

TS3231 Help!! I can't open Aperture, I get a warning message and then it quits.
When I try to open Aperture, I get this message: "There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary”. " Is there a way to fix this??
Any help is really appreciated!!Where is your Aperture Library located? On your System drive or on an external drive?
So I have tried the Troubleshooting basics, and none of them worked.
Have you tried all of them? Rebuilding the database? Removing the preferences?
If not, try those as well.
If that does not help, try id´f Aperture runs at all. Launch it with the⌥-key held down and create a new, empty library, by selecting other/new.
Try if you can work with this library and import images and edit image.
If this should succeed, check if you can import your old library into the new one by going to the File-menu and selecting "Import > Library".
Post back, if this does not succeed.

I have an iMac running OX 10.5.8
I need a portable external hard drive to back it up before updating the software to Yosemite but I can't find anything that doesn't require you to be running at least OX 10.6. Is there a suitable hard drive? When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.
10.6 software is not downloadable. You must purchase a DVD disc. You can order it from the on-line apple store

My mac wont turn on. It is charging and the on light is on when the computer is shut but once I open it the light turns off and the screen is black. I turn it off and then on again and the start up noise goes but it is still black - Help!?
Claire, please post your machine specs as requested. There are some variants of the MBP with specific hardware issues. Example: the older "silver key" MBPs with 2.2Ghz and faster processors can have a defective video chipset that produces a black screen or distorted video. That problem is covered under an Apple program that will fix this at no cost to you if you computer is that model.
Do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and, in the resulting window, click the "More Info..." button. That launches System Profiler for you. The first screen looks like this:
The second line, "Model Identifier" (or "Machine Model" if you are running OS10.4) precisely identifies your MBP variant. Post that, and include it in your equipment info in your profile for future posts. That means people don't have to ask, and you get faster help that is targeted to your specific model. Saves everybody a bunch of keystrokes and you get better advice. -
I have installed the most recent version of Snow Leopard on my MAC, and I am trying to install Mountain Lion from the Apple Store. It will not install, because it says I do not have 2GB of memory, even though I have over 200GB available. Please help.

One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there -
Running Firefox 3.6.3 on my aging machine, I got a dialog telling me that I should upgrade. I did. When the update was complete, and the application restarted, I was running Firefox 3.6.24, and shown a page saying:
“Thanks for downloading Firefox, but this version is out of date. Unfortunately your computer's operating system isn't compatible with the most current Firefox learn more, but you are encouraged to download the most recent version that is compatible instead.”
Clicking the link to the “most recent version” took me to a page which said:
“Firefox 3.6.x will be maintained with security and stability updates for a short amount of time. All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.”
There was no other suggested version linked to that page, and the latest version of Firefox is, of course, NOT compatible with my machine.
Mozilla is confusing me here. Why did Firefox drop back within v. 3.6.x from the version I was already running? Why does the site suggest upgrading to an apparently non-existent “latest compatible version” without providing a link to its suggestion?Other browsers that you can look at:

Well, it's what I did to get my Java working in Firefox 4. I installed both binaries into my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder. The version was newer that what was previously installed (newer version is 0.9.7.5). It solved the Java problems I was having. My inital problem was that Java would not initiate and no applets would run in Firefox version 4 which I just installed a few days ago.
I know the readme.txt. says it is not compatible with version 4, but the release date on 0.9.7.5 is after the release date of Firefox 4 and so that was I tried it. I figure there was nothing to lose as at worst it woud update my two plug-in files. Nothing was going to be changed otherwise. If you try it, it might work. -
Yesterday I downloaded the most recent version of itunes and created a playlist....i was unable to burn it to a CD. Message was there was no burner...it's like the entire drive is missing from my computer. My computer tech guy said the same thing happened to him but he hasn't found the fix yet. Any help???
