I have to shut down and restart mail to receive mail.
Since I installed the new system on my MacBrook Pro, I have to force quit and restart my mail to receive it. This is also happening on my brand new desktop (10.7.1), but not on my iPhone or iPad.
Thanks for your reply Carlo TD, I was just about to ask you what further info should I be giving however the problem seems to have cleared itself. I've not had to shut down and restart for about 6 hours or so now. However if the issue arises again I will be back here to try and solve it. Thank you again.

I have to shut down and restart JDEV about 30 times per day. If I make changes to the style sheet, I can't refresh my deployed page, I can even redeploy it. I need to physically shut down JDEV and restart it.
This happens as well with multiple style changes I am making, regardless of whether it' inline style changes (setting the height of an image) or changing a border.
Am I missing something?

I saw a similar question was posted about this before but it was from a long time ago and involved re-installing the OS. I am hoping an easier solution has been discovered.I have an IMac and for some reason I keep losing connection to the internet. I am using the Airport Extreme as my router. The router seems to be fine. My PC does not have any problem staying connected to the internet. When I look at settings the it appears that I am connected to the Airprt extreme on my IMac but I have no internet. I have to shut down the Iport and then reconnect. Evertime I do I will have internet for 1 second to 2 minutes and then it will drop again. I can't figure this one out! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A greyness rolls down the screen and then a box appears in the middle saying, in several languages, something like, "You must shut down your computer. Press and hold the button until it shuts down. Then press it again to restart. "
The first time it happened this morning, I had actually just left my computer about ten minutes prior, having restarted it as I often do when I leave it so it will be fresh for my next session. So it shut down on the screen with all my family's usernames.
The second time it happened, a few minutes ago, I only had Mail open and Safari with just one website open, and I'd only just got back on the computer 5 minutes prior.
The only recent changes I can think of are that my husband installed 8 GB of RAM over the weekend and I moved about 200 GB of data from my internal hard drive to an external hard drive that stays connected to my iMac all the time.
This is scary; I've never heard of this happening on a Mac. And my iMac is barely 1 year old. Can you tell me what's going on? Do I need to do something to fix it?What is a Kernel Panic?

I have my iPhoto set to an external drive, when it was in use the usb disconected as i was moving my mac air, when i re-conected a message said (your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable).
I have tried shutting it down and then re opening iPhoto but get the same message.
The reason for the external drive was there was not enough room on my hard drive, I have around 7000 photos on it.
is there a simple fix?

1. Restore the iPhoto library from the most recent backup that predates the issue.
Advantages: Always works, if library damage is causing the problem and the backup is intact.
Disadvantages: Impossible if you don't have a backup. All changes made since the backup are lost.
2. Repair or rebuild the library. Be sure to back it up first.
Advantages: May solve the problem with no loss of data.
Disadvantages: May fail. May take a long time if the library is large.
3. Scavenge the library with a third-party application called "iPhoto Library Manager," which you can find in a web search. From the application's menu bar (not the iPhoto menu bar), select Library ▹ Rebuild.
Advantages: All images and albums should be preserved.
Disadvantages: All books, calendars, and slideshows will be lost. -
Itunes hangs up and I have to shut down and restart
When I click in itunes, and I roll and click again, my itunes hangs up and the wheel never stops turning. I have to force quit itunes. After trying to open it again, this window comes up with this message: The itunes library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file. WHAT??
What is this and why does it all of a sudden keep going to this since I have updated to the Mountain Lion OS?????

This has been frustrating, to say the least. I have a Seagate Network 2TB connected. Seems I've had my share of problems with Seagate. I plan to replace this device with something more Mac friendly.

Can receive mail, but it takes a little while. Try and send a email but it never sends, bottom left corner says sending 1 of 1 but never sends. I've shut down and restarted iPad but that doesn't help. What to do to correct this and what is the cause?
In that case your email provider's server is having difficulties to deliver the message to the recipients email provider server.
This has got nothing to do with Thunderbird.
There is little you can do though. You may have the recipient to check with his email provider if they have any issues. -
This just started happening.. I open Itunes and the little round rainbow loading indicator just goes on and doesnt stop.. My itunes wont function.. It gets stuck. Then i have to force quit.. I tried to shut down and restart. also reloaded the latest itune 11.1.3 and it still gets stuck.
i use an external HD and thats fine.. all files are in there. But I have no idea why my itunes app is getting stuck.

Trying to update my software (iPhone and iPad) it says my iTunes software needs to be updated, but it is already is. I try this over and over again. I've already reinstalled iTunes and have shut down and restarted my Mac several times. How can I fix this?

I have an older IMac 5. I installed snow Leopard on. Now my DVD drive is not working. Discs go in but it dosn't boot up or show in finder. Then disc won't eject unless i shut down and restart. HELP !
Snow Leopard cannot run on a PPC G5 Mac as it requires an Intel processor. Please confirm what Mac you have.
