I installed Firefox 4-my home page is mostly blank and it keeps asking me to retore to previous session. When I do this it only brings up the last visited site. When I type in a seach it will not search.

The Web Page will not respond to commands including searches that I type in. The Google Search will work.

The default Firefox 4 homepage - '''about:home''' - has a hyperlink that allows you to '''''Restore Previous Session''''', which is part of the new feature where Firefox 4 automatically saves your previous session, without asking you as with previous versions of Firefox. You don't have to use that hyperlink unless you want restore your previous session.
As far as the "search container" search engine in about:home not working, some users have reported that to be caused by an extension or two that are related to a security suite that is installed. Another cause could be related to "local storage" be turned off when Firefox is updated; there's a couple of Bug reports filed about that cause, but I don't understand the discussion about it - but those Bugs haven't been fixed yet, as it only affects a small number of users ''(sounds like a real low priority from what I gather when reading those reports)''.
The easiest "fix" to both issues is you set your own choice of a homepage. This one is what Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions used.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

I too did the "important upgrade" today to Firefox 3.6.6 and now only get "untitled" pages. Operational buttons (back, refresh) are grayed out. Cannot access Internet via Firefox.
I did the Help for this issue deleting Firefox as a trusted program for Norton Internet Security 2010, then clicked my icon for Firefox, and there was no change.
I also changed a setting to "no proxy," then back again with no luck.

After upgrading to Lion, Safari won't load my homepage. I have one set. I've even changed it to see if Safari is biased against Google, but no, when I quit Safari and then re-open it, I get the last page viewed not my homepage. I have a home page for a reason. I like to start from there.

What worked for me was going to System Preferences, General tab, uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps", then I shut down my computer and when I turned it back on, it worked, I was back on my home page when I started Safari. I probably would have worked if I just restarted my computer, but I went the long route.

Popup blocker keeps losing my "exceptions" to websites. every day I have to go back in and enter the exceptions. This has only happened with the last two Firefox versions.

I go to "tools" then popup blocker "exceptions". (I have the block popups checked.) When I enter "www.paypal.com" and add it in, everything is OK for about 12 hours (or less). I will check to see if the exception is still there within 12 hours and there is nothing in my exceptions. I have added as many as three exceptions entered only to have them all disappear within a few hours.
This severely cramps my attempt to print shipping labels on the PayPal website.
I thought this latest version of Firefox cured the issue, but it did not.

Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" in "Clear Recent History" will remove exceptions that are stored in content-prefs.sqlite (site specific settings for zoom) and permissions.sqlite (exceptions for images, cookies, pop-ups, software; Tools > Page Info > Permissions) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
The password exceptions (Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Show Passwords) are also removed from signons.sqlite.

In version 3.6.17, click '''File''', then click '''Work Offline '''to remove the checkmark.
In version 4.0.x right click a blank part of the Tab Bar and then click "Menu Bar". This will reinstate the text links. Then do the same as above.
To revert to the layout without the text links, repeat the same steps.
Sometimes, in FF4, you can hit the ALT key to toggle the text links on and off, but I've noticed in posts from other users that it doesn't always work.

Here is something that you can try:
# Click on Tools and then click Options.
# Select the Advanced panel
# Select the General tab
# Uncheck Use hardware acceleration where available.
# Click File and then click Exit.
# Start Firefox normally.
Once you have followed those steps, you'll want to follow these as well and see if the lines are gone.
Click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
Let me know if this has eliminated the problem.

Having just upgraded to FF4 I find that it will not search anything from the Mozilla home page. I can open bookmarked sites or use the search box in the toolbar.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. Might be a third party Safari addon that was compatible with Snow Leopard but not Lion that's preventing pages to load. That add on may not have any effect on the other browsers, just Safari.

Also, if you have Little Snitch or Peer Guardian or anti virus sofware installed on your Mac, that might prevent pages to load also.
