I just downloaded Firefox 17 on my pc. I cannot get the Firefox toolbar to come up. Only an option to set Yahoo as homepage comes up.

When I click on the Mozilla Firefox shortcut, only the Make Yahoo! your home page comes up. It tells me how to make it my homepage, but you need the Mozilla toolbar to do so, and there's no finding the toolbar. Very frustrating. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times, and it ALWAYS comes up with this Yahoo thing.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer#w_uninstall-firefox|Uninstall Firefox]] article.
'''IMPORTANT:''' On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do '''not''' check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox [[Profiles|user profile data]] will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
* '''(On 32-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
* '''(On 64-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox''
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the '''Program Files''' folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the '''Program Files (x86)''' folder.
#Look for a '''Mozilla Firefox''' folder. If you find one, right-click it and select ''Delete'' and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • I cannot get the Firefox setup wizard to run on my laptop, which runs Windows XP.

I have a Compaq Presario which runs Windows XP. I have 1.12 GB of RAM, a 1.59 GHz processor, and more than 30 GB of space on my hard drive. I can download Firefox, but I can't get the setup wizard to run. After I get it downloaded and try to run the wizard, my computer hangs up. I have tried both saving it and running it right off the bat. Neither way works. I need to have Firefox on my machine, so any way I could get help with this problem would be great. Thanks.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with installing Firefox.
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes installing work.

  • Trying to reset firefox to original default but cannot find the firefox button to start process

Why can't I find the firefox button that you refer to in how to reset firefox?

You get the orange Firefox menu button when the menu bar is hidden.
    *Firefox menu button > Options
*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
    See also:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Menu+bar+is+missing
What kind of problems do you have that you want to reset Firefox?
When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.<br />
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

  • TS1702 I just downloaded an app (SwitchDraw) and I cannot get it to open. Any assistance is appreciated.

I'm running widows 7 and downloaded the app SwitchDraw and I cannot find a way to run it. This is my 1st app purchase so it may very well be something simple.

You won't be able to open it on a computer, if this is the correct app, Switchdraw, then you will need to install it onto an iPad - from the app's description page in the store
Compatibility: Requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPad.
If you don't have an iPad then you can try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I cannot get the Firefox to search old mail for previous saved emails. It always says none there, even when I see them. Can anyone help?

When I want to find an old e mail in the old mail file and type the name in the box and search, the new Firefox will not find anything. I did not have this problem with earlier versions of Firefox. Can someone help? Thanks

    Thank you very much!
I have already sent the feedback to online support feedback yesterday, but still waiting for reply. And I have just send thr Apple Support Express Lane. Hope can have someone reply!
I have called Apple Store Online today, but they said I should call TNT and they will send my enquiry to others to handle. But reject to tell me who is responsible for the issue.
TNT keeps to tell me they have deliver the item but no one answer. And I told them I have informed them on no one at the delivery address to receipt the good. TNT just do so to claim they have already do their work.
Do you know the mail address can be contacted to solve this problem?

  • How do I get the Firefox icon to appear on my menu bar instead of a question mark?

I have been using Firefox 3.7 and recently downloaded 4.0
An icon showing Firefox on what lloks like a memort stick icon appeared on my desktop. I am a Mac OSX user. When I dragged the icon to my menu bar, a question mark (?) appeared instead of the Firefox icon. How do I get the firefox icon to appear correctly on the men bar?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

TonyE is correct the plugin version comes with Adobe's Reader X.
The failure in communication is two parted:
    1. Reader X is not Acrobat (Mozilla Plugin Checker)
    2. Acrobat is not mentioned in the Reader X download Page (Adobe)
    therefore confused clients.
For readers '''CAUTION''' check the minimum requirements for Reader X.
    Here: [http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/tech-specs.html Adobe's Reader X requirements link]
Do not waste the time to download (80+MB and Site is Slow) if your machine does not have the resources to execute it. ie. '''aging''' Hardware
Unfortunately the Adobe DLM only checks the requirements after it has
    downloaded BEFORE the install occurs.
This is '''very expensive''' for both the sender and receiver
It might be why they called it READER X and READER 9 will not sense an update...

What you are experiencing is 100% related to Malware.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Downloaded Firefox yesterday. Every time I open the Firefox browser, it starts in Safe Mode even though I have shut down and restarted my computer several times

I have Windows OS. I downloaded Firefox yesterday. Every time I open the Firefox browser, it starts in safe mode. I have restarted my machine several times -- Firefox still starts in Safe Mode. My favorites from IE copied to Firefox fine, and Firefox is now my default browser...it just keeps opening in Safe Mode.

I downloaded the toolbar. When I was done using the computer, I put it to "sleep." The next time I "woke" the computer and went to Firefox, the toolbar was gone. When I downloaded the toolbar again, I got a box in the upper left hand corner of the screen stating Firefox BLOCKED the toolbar, and did I want to allow it. There was NO option to allow always-it's just a one time deal. When I shut down for the day, I expected it to remain, but no-next time I fired up firefox, NO TOOLBAR. I pulled up Inbox dollars again, clicked on download toolbar, got the box stating it's blocking the toolbar, etc, etc, etc. Unless Firefox upgrades daily, or in some cases, several times in one day, I'm going to stick with my description that the toolbar magically disappears EVERY TIME I OPEN
    FIREFOX!!!
I don't profess to be any type of computer whiz, I'm totally self-taught, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that I'm doing something wrong. I've been using Firefox for about a week, so I'd welcome any help!
