Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?

    my newly updated itunes crashes instantly beacuse the update from today

    I had the same problem until late yesterday. I had to completely uninstall iTunes (and Bonjour) as well as delete the directories as turingtest2 provides in a different discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6562 - second box). I even went as far as removing the registry entries (using Piriform ccleaner -https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner) and rebooting my system. I then downloaded and installed iTunes as if it were a new installation rather than an upgrade. It now works and my media files and iTunes library were left intact.

    This started happening after I refreshed my PC and reinstalled Photoshop via the cloud. I have tried checking my graphics card (it says there are no issues), updating/restarting my PC, and uninstalling/reinstalling Photoshop. I checked my other cloud apps (Illustrator and InDesign) and there don't appear to be any issues. I am using Windows 8.

    I did some digging on the internet and someone with a similar problem got advised to install windows 8.1 and then update their graphics driver.
    I tried doing this but it didn't really work. I installed windows 8.1 on it. I then tried to update the graphics drivers after doing this. I have an ASUS with an Intel HD 4000 Graphics Processor. I went to the Intel website to download the latest driver, and hit the button that told me to check for updates. It linked me to install this one: Intel® Download Center but when I tried to install it it wouldn't let me, and gave me the error message "the installation package is not supported by the processor type." When I ran the troubleshooter that came with the crash it didn't resolve the issue, and gave me the error message "this operating system is not compatible" and "incompatible program."
    I tried opening Photoshop again and it has not crashed yet. I'm still wary, though, over not being able to update the drivers. Do you (or anyone out there) have any ideas what might be happening with that?? And thanks again!

    1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

    Ok, so, do me a favour, open up Quicktime and see if that opens up ok. If it does, fine, if not, what does it do and are there any error messages involved?

  • I just updated iTunes, and now when I connect my phone iTunes crashes.

    I just updated iTunes to the latest version, and then when I connected my iPhone I received an error message saying iTunes had encountered a problem and DEP closed it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing has helped so far. I am in the process of uninstalling everything and installing an older version but I searched on google and found others have had this exact problem. Is there a solution to this problem yet??

    same problem was here to with Windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I Had also problems with my multimedia-keys on the razer tarantula. They won't be recognized.
    After having to much trouble with 10.4 is was using my systembackup to restore to 10.3. I must do this because after reinstalling 10.3 iTunes told me that the database is incompatibe.
    No everything is working as normal. Hoping Apple will fix these things and also the new Safara 5.1 that will destroy the iTunes Store in 10.4 (Only blank white screen).

    This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
    The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
    Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
    Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

    Hey, I'm new to the forum. I just updated iTunes yesterday, along with QuickTime. There weren't any problems at all during installation. After it was completed, it asked to restart the computer in order for the installation to be fully completed. I was busy at the time so I didn't restart until today around 2 PM (I installed the updates around 1-2 AM, Tuesday).
    After restarting, I wanted to open iTunes in order to listen to some music, but when doing so, I get:
    iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    After that, it's just the usual message us Windows XP users get about sending error report or not sending. You can even see the data of the error report, but I can't understand anything.
    Anyways, that's the problem which I'm facing. I tried searching Support for previously asked questions, but there wasn't anything close. Please help... Thanks in advance.

  • Newly updated iTunes 10.1 crashes on launch

    I just updated iTunes from 10.0.1 to 10.1 and it crashes upon launch. (I am aware of other threads reporting similar issues but my problem does not seem to fit any of the prior cases. I already checked that it does not have anything to do with duplicated or incompatible QuickTime plug-ins or components, I updated Flip4Mac, etc. Running in safe mode does not help.)
    Here is the error message in the log:

    These appear consistently each time I try to launch iTunes 10.1, whether in safe mode or normal mode.
    I did some searching both on this discussion board and elsewhere and I did not find this particular problem reported. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

    I will respond to my own question, in case anyone runs into a similar issue.
    From another discussion I found a link to the code signing documentation:

    This suggested that the error may have been related to the software package being corrupted, and therefore failing to validate the code signature at startup. So I tried to download iTunes 10.1 from Apple and reinstall it, and this time it worked fine.
    So, if you see a code signing error, it probably has to do with corrupted software. Try to download again and reinstall.

    Since iOS 5 has not been released yet, it's interesting you say you've already downloaded it.  Trash the file you downloaded and wait for the official release. It will probably drop around 10:00 California time.

    I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things.     You could unplug your router than plug it back in.  You could turn the iPhone completely off and then back on.
