Downloaded and installed latest version of ITunes after uninstalling current version of itunes get error message stating "The file library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a new version of itunes

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

did nothing else, clicked on pref and it locked up

IPod shuffle second generation not compatible with latest iTunes?

Edit: re-reading this message I notice I say sync when talking about the iPod shuffles. Note that there is NO sync option shown in iTunes, only auto fill. Whenever I say sync regarding the shuffles, I mean auto fill. Syncing for the iPod Touches works fine though.
My sister recently got three iPod touches for her family and I helped set them up. I had no problems setting them up at all. It's when she brought me two iPod Shuffles (generation 2), one for my niece since she's not old enough to use an expensive iPod touch, where the headaches began. When choosing to synch, iTunes says it is waiting for the iPod and hangs for a good 2+ minutes. After it unfreezes, with no error messages, I see no changes, and no music is on the iPod (either of them).
The iTunes version is 8.1.1.10, which is the latest currently. Much to my horror Internet searches show a multitude of people claiming the iPod shuffles gen 1 and 2 do not properly work with the latest iTunes software! Is this true, and if so has Apple released any statement on the matter?

I was successfully able to add music to the gen 2 iPod shuffles using that program, and indeed I know not to run both it and iTunes at the same time. iTunes was even able to display the tracks and play list I created with Sharepod, but the "fill" command still did the same thing: caused iTunes to hang for a time while saying it was waiting for the iPod and then continue as if it finished properly later... with no changes made at all. Even the check boxes for settings don't seem to save, but iTunes does properly name the devices. One is for one of my nephews and one is for my niece. Dragging songs to the iPod shuffle causes the same behavior of freezing for a time before unfreezing with no songs added to the device. I must note that by freeze I don't mean Windows says it's not responding. I can tab out and minimize/restore the program fine. All controls in the program such as clicking on play lists or trying to access the menus or clicking things do nothing until it unfreezes though. Since the iPod touches sync so incredibly quickly, I don't know if the program freezes during a normal sync.
After creating three separate libraries (my sister does not want each child having their own Windows name) and successfully showing the kids how to hold shift to choose a library when starting the program, each device is properly bound to each of my sister's family's names. As I said the iPod touches work perfectly so I am going to assume this is the dreaded incompatibly the latest software has with the iPod shuffle gen 2s?
Is there a fix for this issue or are we just stuck using third party software to deal with the iPod shuffles?

Thanks! SharePod really did the trick.
iTunes 8.1.1.10 wiped out my 2nd generation Shuffle. SharePod is the only way I can put songs in any more. From the looks of the forum I'm not the only one. Sure hope Apple figures it out soon!

10g JSpell PJC does not work with latest JSpell version

Looks like latest (10g) forms demo - Spell check with JSpell does not work with the latest version of the JSpell software (does not look like this demo been changed from the previous version).
Does anybody has a success running this or have any suggestions how to integrate it together?

IPhone 3G Not recognized by latest iTunes version

It's been a while (MANY MONTHS) since I updated / synced my iphone 3G. But I just updated my iTunes and now my iphone 3G isn't even showing up in iTunes. I've got Windows 7 64-bit on my pc & my phone shows up there in "Computer". I've since removed iTunes and tried installing the 9.2 version of iTunes, but it said the "iTunes Library" was created by a later verision and it wouldn't open.
At this point, is there anything I can do short of completely restoring to factory? I would at least like to be able to back up my phone first, but I'm not sure where to start? Help please.

I also updated my apple mobile driver & all my Windows 7 updates are current. I tried reinstalling iTunes 10.5 and it just says: iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone. It then wants me to restore my phone.....I wouldn't have a problem with that if not for the fact that I haven't backed up my phone in soooo long.

Problems with latest iTunes version.

I had installed the latest version of iTunes in my computer, and it works really good, but when i plug my iPod (2nd generation 20GB clickwheel) iTunes shows it and inmediately iTunes stops working. Any help for me? how can i solve this problem?

After downloading the latest version of iTunes, I got this error message: "The AirPlay device 'Joe Smith's AirPort Express' cannot be found on your network. Please verify your network settings and AirPlay configuration or select another device from the menu at the bottom of the iTunes window." It was working just fine until I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. What do I need to get music back up and running?

3rd gen will not sych with latest itunes

Son gave me his 3rd gen which he used on his win computer. I have OS10.4.11 . Old version of Itunes would not sych so son updated to 9.2.1 . Does not recognize. Read about the AMD and reinstalling. Or is there a version of itunes that I may be able to go back to? Do I need to go to Leopard? Is this touch only recognized on his computer? Thanks, Gary

Thanks... I was told that I can only go up to 10.5.8 on my Imac ppc. If I am right, I believe that the highest this touch can go up to is 5.0.1 . Now for a windows computer, what is the min. requirements for this touch to work?

There are a couple of updates on my APP STORE page that are extremely annoying, they can't be installed because they are to old for my OSX version 10.8.5, I want to delete or remove them so that Spotlight stops telling me that I have 2 updates to install, when they can't be installed unless I revert to an older OS version.

I just tried to install latest iTunes version and install failed. A pop-up stated "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. ERROR 7 (Windows error 1114)." I have a decent-sized iTunes library that is not backed-up to the cloud. How can I either get back to the previous iTunes version that was functioning OR install a new version without losing the Library?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

That message is usually a sign that you tried to roll back to an earlier build of iTunes, but occasionally I've seen it connected to a new upgrade. This technique should fix things.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

ITunes 8 not compatable with XP SP3?

today I updated my iTunes using the apple software update and it said during the install that the software did not clear the windows testing. when the install finished I restarted the computer like it said too.Now when ever I try to open iTunes I get a message saying that the CD/DVD drivers were not installed, then a message that itunes was not installed correctly, and then a message that I need to reinstall iTunes. I have reinstalled it 3 times now and I still get the same messages. Also Now when ever I try to sync My iPod, iTunes and my computer freeze. I have to "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" just to close it. Any help?

I am having similar problems. I uninstalled 8 after reading posts and did a clean install/uninstall because I kept getting the error message: *"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes".* I did without results. I kept getting the same error. I ran diagnostics from iTunes and it did not recognize my burners CD or DVD. Although they showed up in the playlists with the correct audio media. I finally found an older version iTunes and downloaded it. however, I first received an error about iTunes being corrupted and that the library was updated with a newer version than what was installed.
I solved that issue by renaming an older saved library and that corrected that issue but then it still will not burn or recognize my CD/DVD drives.
Now, my new issue is that the computer screen goes black and when rebooting, it goes through a scan disk first and then will restart. I finally spoke to a tech at Circuit City and he says that he has seen nothing but problems since people have upgraded to 8.0. His recommendation was to wipe my system clean and install an old version of iTunes if I just had to use the software.
