I'm having trouble getting my download of Mountain Lion to start on my MacBook Pro, any advice or solutions?
My MacBook is just a few days old and I purchased the Mountail Lion software earlier today. However the icon on the launchpad just keeps saying waiting and occasionally if it does begin to download will not progress and the download will eventually stop and have to be started again via the Mac Store. Any help with why this is happening?
When it does start downloading open the App Store and click purchases, that will show if it is progressing or not. It is a very big d/l and will look like nothing is happening on Launchpad but App Store will show otherwise.

A 2008 Mac won't have originally shipped with Lion. You need to install 10.6.8 on the computer, log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase Mountain Lion, click on the Purchases tab, and download it.

Check your Settings on both devices. Is iCloud's calender sync turned on (Settings > iCloud > Calendar)? Please make also sure that you are not only using local calendars.

And what is your iPhoto version? iPhoto 9.5.1?

Try this:
Boot into Safe Mode then reboot normally. Do the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Does this help? If not, then you should reinstall Mountain Lion:

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
I have a multi-page document and I want to print some of the pages, double-sided, to check my work. I can't seem to get the interface to recognise that I want to print a specific range of pages, so it will print just one page [no double-sided] or, I assume, it will print the WHOLE LOT [not good at this stage!] HEEEELLLLPPP!!
To explain, the dialogue box which opens when you hit Command+P has an option of 'Pages' or 'Range' but 'Range' gives you only two options: All Pages or A4V. If I click the 'Printer' button I get another dialogue box with more options and from there I can choose to print 'All' or 'Pages' . . . and you change 1 to 1 to say, 1 to 3 for example. There is also an option to print double-sided. But nothing seems to be working and as soon as you finish with this second dialogue box it seems to forget every parameter you choose there. The summary page on the first dialogue box also seems suspiciously sketchy on details of what, exactly, it is about to print. By the way I have installed the latest driver set from Apple for this printer. Is anyone else having the same problem?Thank you so much Eric. I did what you said. I still had the same result, but finally [somehow] I ended up clicking on something which doesn't even look clickable - this is a tiny set of back- and forward arrows in the 'Range' option. Using this feature seems pretty hit-and-miss but I persevered and was able to get it to accept my parameters, i.e. "1 - 2" in range. You have to go into the second ["Printer"] dialogue box each and every time you print, to enable two-sided printing. At last I was able to get it to print pages 1 and 2 of my three-page document. Now maybe I can test-print pages from my 108 page tome! Fingers crossed . . .

Hi, I am having trouble getting an album to download. I have tried it on both my iPhone and laptop through iTunes but neither works. I am wondering if it could be the size of the album stopping it downloading (212 Tracks) Any Ideas?
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.

I would be concerned too if the songs I purchased from iTunes were not downloading to my iPhone. You have taken some great troubleshooting steps already, and thank you for providing the details of the steps you too. I have a few additional suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

If the songs still do not download, next I recommend downloading the songs when connected to another network. For example, if you are using the cellular network, you could switch to Wi-Fi, or you could try an alternate Wi-Fi network. The activation servers are probably overloaded with everyone trying to update to iOS 7 today. You might need to wait and try again later.

I have an older IPOD classic that I'm having trouble getting new purchases from library to IPOD. I use to have a IPOD icon in the source list on the left side of the screen. Now that is all gone. My purchases are coming up as recently purchased but can't figure out how to get them transferred to IPOD. I also can't find how to confirm setting is for manual not auto sync as the first computer I had blew up and am now using a different one. I haven't had any of these problems prior to the updates.

As an avid flight simmer I bought a new soundcard my previous was
an audigy 2 platinum ex with an external module I really liked but somehow all of a sudden I was getting a screech when using FS9 sor I opted to change to the present. Well stone the crows my soundcard was auto updated with new drivers and well you guessed it the soundcard did not show in the sound video controllers window No I have just joined this forum and it looks like3 you may have the answer for me . I am now going to do as you suggest and see what happens.
I shall return with the outcome of my dilemma.

Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I've had some experiences with these new flash memory recording camcorders, and I'll give you a quick rundown of what I've learned. Many of them (JVC, Panasonic, etc.) tend to record in a .MOD file format, which is non-standard, proprietary, and unrecognizable by most software. I thought Canon was usually a little more standards-compliant, but it appears they also use this .MOD format in your specific camera model. There are likely a couple ways we can get around this though!
In order to play the files, you will likely need to change their file format (.MOD) to .AVI manually. You'll have to locate the files on your Mac, and then manually change the file names so that the file extension (after the period) is .AVI
At that point, a video player application such as http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html>VLC should play the files fine!
You should be able to transfer new video files from the camera to the Macbook Pro with no problems as well. Just plug in the camera to the computer via USB, and also make sure the camera is plugged in to charge. Once it's plugged in, open iMovie (came with the MBP, in the Applications folder) and the MBP should take care of the rest.
