I'm struggling with my (4 years) old homework

hi,
4+ years ago i took some basic programming course where we had to write various (extremely simple) java code.
but i didn't turn in my homework in time, because i couldn't et my source code tho rhyme (excuse as good as any)
nayhow, now finally while as was reading article http://www.loyalty.org/~schoen/haiku.html
i realized, that i could (maybe) solve my first programming task as haiku, or two of them...
task was simple: (to get a bit more familiar with language) write programm that writes something to terminal.
and what i came up with is so far:
public class Haiku {
    transient static String done;
    public static void
            main(String[] arguments) {
        done = "my first java homework";
        System.out.print(done);
}what the problem is, is that i would like some more english speaking person to verify that both code blocks are indeed 5-7-5 syllibles (ps. i choose not to pronaunce non-word characters)
and in case you have any of your code written as poems haikus or as pictures, then feel free to share :)

Modified to take YAT's comments into account:public class Haiku {
    transient static String done;
    public static void
    main(String[] args) {
        done = "my first java";
        System.out.print(done);
}Grant

  • HT201060 How can I set up a new iPad with my 5 year old daughters iCloud address when it won't let me because I've allowed her to be part of my family on my iPad.?

    How can I set up a new iPad with my 5 year old daughters icloud address when the new iPad won't let me cause I've made her part of my family group?

    If you want to migrate your phone to a new iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

  • My Iphone 5 will no longer work with my two year old Bose dock?  I'm using an "Apple" 30 pin to Fire adapter

    My Iphone 5 will no longer work wiht my Bose Dock?  The dock is two years old and I'm using an "Apple" 30 pin to Fire adapter?  It stopped after software upgrades?

    I Have the exact same issue. Bose sound dock 3 and it does not work for me with my iPad air 2 and iPhone 5 anymore.
    Used to to work fine 2 weeks ago.
    Is it to do with updating to iOS 8.1.3?
    Thanks.

  • Buying an iMac - what to do with my 5 year old powerPC G5?

    Hey,
    Of late - my extremely reliable powerPC G5 has been acting up. Being, I think, 5 years old - I didn't want to press my luck so I have ordered a 24"iMac. (I don't need all the box I once did)...
    However - the G5 probably still has some use. I just don't know what to do with it. After a lengthly transitionary period to the new iMac - I am going to wipe the drives on the G5 and reload it hoping this cleans up the bugs I have been having (having to restart once a day compared to NEVER)
    Question is - what can I do with it constructive? What purpose can it serve?
    Looking for ideas. Let me know if I'm in the wrong forum for this type of question. Thanks!

    If you have a newer television, you can hook it up to your TV and surf for movies and old TV shows and watch them on the big screen. Don't ask me how to set it up, though. I'm sure if you ask around someone will be able to tell you.
    You might also consider using it sort of like a server, especially if you have other computers in your household. Load it up with storage and have your other computers back up to it regularly. Don't know how to set that up either, just helping you brainstorm, man.
    Good luck!

  • How to open an Appleworks document created in the classic mode with a one year old iMac using 10.6.8

    Trying to open a 10 year old Appleworks document. Get a dialog box that the Classic Mode is not supported on this machine. Is there a way to work around this problem and open the doc?

    Try dropping the document onto the icon for AW 6.2.9; or use the Open item in AW 6.2.9's File menu.
    Provided the document is in AW 5.x or later format, it should b openable in AW 6.
    If the document is in AW 6.x format, it should also be able to be opened by Pages.

  • Can I make Photoshop CS5 work with a 6 year old onboard GPU?

    Recently, my graphics card stopped working, so I've been forced to use an onboard GPU until I can get the money to buy a new one. The problem though, is that the onboard GPU is VERY old (approximately 6 or so years), and every time I try to save something in photoshop CS5, the program crashes without even giving me an error message. Is there some way I can change the settings in CS5 to make it work? The GPU options in the preferences tab is already grayed out and has OpenGL automatically disabled, but I'm still having problems.

    That's probably utterly unrelated to Photoshop. In so many words: The driver from your dedicated graphics card has left remnants and configuration information and Windows itself is trying to use it when drawing fiel dialogs etc.. Short of reinstalling the operating system from scratch it's probably nothing that can be fixed fully, but feel free to check your device manager and registry for that info. Though, really, in that 5 hours it would take you could just as well do that OS reinstall...

  • I have a mac mini which I bought in 2008. I need to buy a new mac, imac, and want to transfer all the files to the new mac. Can I do that with the 5 year old mini?

    Will the mac mini support ethernet transfer to a new iMac?

    Use the Migration Assistant. See:

  • Sorry to ask again, but should I install Leopard on my 3 year old machine?

    Can my system handle it?
    What steps should I take if I do decide to install Leopard clean (not upgrade.) I have an external drive and plan to back up any important settings or data. I have never wiped a Mac clean and reinstalled an operating system, because surprise... I haven't had to. (**** you Windows XP!)
    But I would like to start fresh in hopes that a clean install will help overall performance.
    Thanks for reading.

    The other thing is that I'm not really sure there is anything of great importance on my machine. All of my music, photos, and office documents are already backed up on the external drive. The bookmarks and all of that... I'm not too attached to. I wouldn't mind starting over from scratch. Thanks again.
    If you have all your important data backed up and you really don't care about anything else, then just go for an erase and install. It's the safest and if it doesn't work, you know it was not your fault, assuming your 3-year old meets the specs.
    Just do a final recheck of what files you really need, make sure you have the latest copies of them. Don't forget passwords, bookmarks which you mentioned, etc. That's why a clone is best - you don't have to bother with the details. It's overkill, but it's safe.
    With a 3-year old, I seriously doubt an upgrade would go smoothly, especially on a PPC.
    And don't forget to unplug that external drive before installing Leopard. Yes, there have been reports of Leopard corrupting an external drive during installation. Even if they are only rumous, I would take them seriously.
    Unplug the backup drive before installing Leopard

  • How do I enable my new macbook pro to become my default computer to sync all my apple devices-iphone 4, touch, ipod classic, nano?  My five year old dell's hard drive has only 2GB of space available and is currently the computer I use for all these device

    I have a new macbook pro that I wish to sync all my apple devices--ipodclassic,nano,iphone4,touch-- that are currently synced with a 5 year old windows based computer with only 2GB of available hard drive space. How can I do this and maintain all of my info-contacts, songs,photos etc without losing this data< Thanks

    you can either update to lion/ios5 and use the cloud to sync or you can plug in said devices and sync them with your MBP instead of your dell via a tethered usb connection.
    also, sign into your itunes store account on your mac.

  • OAS 10.1.3 PatchSet 3 on IBM AIX 5.3 installs a 2 year old IBM JDK - why ?

    We're running OAS 10.1.3.0.0 on IBM AIX 5.3 and due to some crashing issues OSS recommended to upgrade to PatchSet 3 (so 10.1.3.3.0).
    We originally were running OAS with IBM's SR4 of the IBM JDK.
    Now after the upgrade to Patchset 3 (on a test machine), the ORACLE_HOME/jdk version seems to be the first release of the v5 jdk from 2005. It's SR nothing ... J2RE 1.5.0 IBM AIX build jclap32dev-20051102 java
    It's 2 years old for heavans sake !!!! Not even DST patched.
    What am I missing? OAS 10.1.3.3.0 is pretty much THEE most latest version of OAS Oracle has, yet it comes with a 2 year old JDK. Why? This doesn't sound right, why would a company of Oracle stature do this?
    Are others experiencing this also? Why doesn't Oracle bundle a more updated JDK with OAS?

    It's not a symlink.
    Oracle has a script (jdkfix.sh) and a procedure for upgrading the jdk inside OH/jdk. We went thru this on all our OAS 10.1.2.0.2 enviro's and 10.1.3.0.0.
    One metalink note that talks about this is Doc. 272808.1.
    Basically, you install the AIX jdk in the IBM /usr directory and then run jdkfix.sh which essentially copies the jdk over to ORACLE_HOME/jdk.
    There don't seem to be any Oracle supplied patches for any OAS that upgrades the jdk. Which is a bit wonky.
    Here's the ls -l from our prod OAS 10.1.3.0.0 install:

  • SonyAVCHD video looks great in iMovie11 or iDVD7.1.2. When I burn a DVD it's terrible. If I freeze frame I see squares. The picture has poor contrast. I've viewed DVD on my 6-year-old, 24 in. intel 2.16 GHz iMac, and on TV. Help!

    I just bought a very good quality Sony AVCHD camcorder. I also just upgraded my computer from Tiger to Snow Leapord. My iMac is a 6-year-old, 2.16GHz Intel 2 Duo, with a 24 inch screen and 3GB Ram.
    My Sony camcorder HD video looks great in iMovie11 and in iDVD7.1.2., but when I burn a DVD "professional" it looks terrible. If I look at a freeze frame on the DVD I see image made-up of squares. The picture has poor contrast. It looks as bad as poor quality VHS. Do I need to get a new iMac to make this work? Is it possible to make a sharp, clear DVD from AVCHD footage with a 6-year-old iMac like mine?

    That thread helped for a time.  But now it seems as though my computer is back to slow again.  But, some of the jargon is over my head as well.  Not sure I knew quoite everything they were talking about.  But thanks a lot for that, it helped I probably just need to reread it and follow the instructions again.  Thanks so much.

  • Whats better for a 13 year old.... iBook or MacBookPro?

    I AM deffinetly planning on getting a laptop over the summer. I really wanted to get a Mac, due to good experiences with them in the past. Although.... I am 13. Do you think it would make a difference, if I got the iBook, rather than the Pro? I mean, what are some major drawbacks that the Pro has, that the iBook doesnt. And, will they really counterflick with a 13 year old? Thanks.

    I'm not sure your age matters much, although if you carry it around to school, you may be more likely to bang it up than in less demanding uses.
    I've had both. For what you describe, the iBook is plenty.
    Unfortunately this is a bad time for Mac laptops. The iBook is about to be replaced, but MacBook Pro has a few problem, and is probably more expensive than you need anyway. I'm certainly hoping that by Sept the Macbook Pro's problems are fixed. It's anyone's guess how the first Macbook (i.e. Intel replacement for the iBook) will be. You might want to avoid being one of the first purchasers. A Powerpc iBook is the safest, but might be a bad investment.
    Yuck. I don't know.
    The main Macbook Pro issues seem to be heat, noise, and wireless. In my opinion none of these is fatal:
    * heat; I don't think it is hotter than other computers of similar power, unless you have a defective one. I use it on my lap, as I did my old iBook.
    * noise: unless you have a defective unit, the problem is a faint hissing sound when running on batteries; if it bothers you, quietMBP will prevent it, at the cost of a small decrease in battery time. I'm guessing that this will be fixed in software. There's also an odd noise sometimes described as "mooing", presumably from the disk drive or fan. It's not very loud, but could annoy some people.
    * wireless. There have been lots of problems reported causing wireless disconnects. I had it, but seem to have fixed it by configuration changes. The problem isn't uniform, and even the people who have it often manage to fix it, so I'm not sure how serious this is.

    I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
    I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
    I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
    After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
    “Welcome to Aperture 3.2
    Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
    Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
    Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
    Current Library Location:
    Jadzia (home)   -----Pictures------Aperture Library
                                                      QUIT             UPGRADE”
    I have heard horror stories  about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
    So here is my dilemma.  I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
    Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

    Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop.  Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
    You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file.  For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
    Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window
    that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
    I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

    I have an older version of Adobe Digital Editions (around 3 years old) and was very happy with it.
    Then I had problems with my Kobo Reader and asked a friend who works in IT to assist. She could not fix the Kobo but she messed up my Addobe. She downloaded version three and I have an account and a password - was not able to transfer my books from my reader to version three (and I don't like the lay-out - I would prefer to stay with the old version as I also loose all my download date info..)
    But all the books I have bought over the last three years are in the old Adobe Digital and I cannot access them any more. When I use it I get the message "that the document is licensed to a different account. I can't even open the books on my computer.
    When I go to my Kobo library, I cannot also not open my books and get the message "this doc is protected by adobe digital rights management and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe. please sign in with your authorized adobe id and try again"
    I believe the problem is that I do not seem to have a digital id for my old adobe or that the Kobo is not in sync with it anymore.
    can you please help me - going on vacation in three days and cannot go without books.

    Please authorize ADE 3 with same credentials that you used with older version of ADE
