I need help in GUI
Hi every one..
I need help in this class. I want to do a modification to the project AddGUI so that it will do subtraction, multiplication and division of two integre numbers, in addition to addition.

}In the future, Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
Your question does not have enough information to help you. We can't write a GUI for you. You need to write your own and then ask a specific question when you have a problem.
Start by reading the [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/TOC.html]Swing Tutorial which has lots of examples of creating simple GUIs.
If you need further help then you need to create a [url http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html]Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE) that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.
Don't forget to use the [url http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting]Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. -
Urgent! Need help in GUI!
Hi, I am doing a small java project and I am expected to code all the GUI I need in just one class file. Can someone help me? My GUI consists of 2 JButtons, 2 JLabels and 1 JTextField. Also I need to have ActionListener for both of the buttons all in just 1 class file. Anyone please help. It is better if you can provide me with some sample coding to view
That sounds like a very arbitrarily cooked-up requirement. Homework?
Assuming your class needs to be a component itself, simply add the buttons, labels and fields into it, typically within the constructor.
If you mean "one source file" then I would advise using an inner class as your ActionListener; you may even want two. You may like to use anonymous classes which, for instance, call methods in your outer class. All of these solutions will produce more than one class file from the single source file.
If you really do mean "one class file" then you will need your outer class to implement ActionListener and determine from the getActionCommand() or getSource() methods which of the two buttons the event emanated from. It's a less clean way of going about it, but you get your single class file.
No sample code - if you need further explanation of the above then just Google for the underlined terms. -
Need help with GUI lay out HELP PLEASE
hi iam trying to design this GUI for an assignment i cant seem to post pictures so i uploaded the picture of how its suppose to look
http://ca.geocities.com/shamtu4life2000/layout.jpg
i believe i got the code down correct but the layout is messed up also my teacher specified that the open color area be set at 400x300 i believe i did that correct my problem is the layout i get is jumbled and i dont know if i got the open area panel set correctly
this is my code
import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class colorFrame extends JFrame{
public colorFrame(){
//get the content pane of the frame
//JPanel radio = JPanel();
Container container = getContentPane();
//set flowlayout
container.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
//create panel p1 set grid
JPanel p1 = new JPanel();
p1.setLayout(new GridLayout(1,3)) ;
//add check boxes
p1.add(new JCheckBox("RED"));
p1.add(new JCheckBox("GREEN"));
p1.add(new JCheckBox("BLUE"));
//Create panel p2 set grid
JPanel p2 = new JPanel();
p2.setLayout (new GridLayout(1,3));
//Add radio buttons
p2.add(new JRadioButton("Light"));
p2.add(new JRadioButton("Normal"));
p2.add(new JRadioButton("Dark"));
//Create panel p3
JPanel p3 = new JPanel();
p3.setLayout (new GridLayout());
//add button
p3.add(new JButton("Show"));
//Create panel p4
JPanel p4 = new JPanel();
p4.setLayout (new GridLayout());
Dimension d = new Dimension(400,300);
p4.setPreferredSize(d);
//Add panels to frame
container.add(p1, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
container.add(p2, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
container.add(p3, BorderLayout.EAST);
container.add(p4, BorderLayout.NORTH);
//Main Method
public static void main(String[] args){
colorFrame frame = new colorFrame();
frame.setTitle("Color Frame");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.setSize(500,400);
frame.setVisible(true);
}if any one got anyideas please let me know below i posted the assignment as background information thanks
The GUI has a JPanel in the center region that displays different colors. All of the other components (3 JCheckboxes, 3 JRadioButtons, and one JButton) are on a JPanel in the south region of the JFrame. We havent yet learned how to make a GUI do anything in response to user generated events, such as mouse clicks. For this question, we just want to practice controlling the appearance of the GUI using layout managers.
In the constructor of your ColorFrame class, create three JCheckbox objects, three JRadioButtons, and one JButton. All you need to know about these classes is that each
one has a constructor that takes one String argument:
new JCheckbox(Red)
new JRadioButton(Light)
new JButton(Show)
We want to use JPanels and layout managers to control the appearance of the GUI. We want the three JCheckboxes to remain together, so we put them on a JPanel. Similarly for the three JRadioButtons put them on another JPanel. We want the JButton to retain its preferred size not to grow to fill an entire region of the GUI --so put it on another JPanel. These JPanels should use FlowLayout.
We want to put all of these JPanels in the south region of the JFrame, but if we just add them to the frame, one will go on top of the other and well only see the last one that was added. Instead, use one or more additional JPanels with GridLayout to hold the first set of JPanels, then add the JPanels holding all the other components to the JFrame.
You also want to create another instance of JPanel to add to the center region of the JFrame. Unlike the other JPanels, this one wont hold other components; it will display different colors. (You dont have to implement this color display.) When you pack the JFrame, the other JPanels will become large enough to hold the other components they contain, but since this one holds no components, it would shrink to zero by default. To prevent this, you should set its preferred size to some non-zero value, say 400 x 300 pixels.
Your class should have a main method that calls the constructor tocreate an instance of this class, sets its size using pack, sets its default close operation, and makes it visible.You have set the container layout to FlowLayout, but you then try to place panels using the BorderLayout constants, you should use BorderLayout on the container.

Need help with GUI Scripting Audio Midi Setup
I want to read the value of the sampling frequency set by default in Audio Midi Setup.
If there is an easy unix way to gleen this, please let me know. Otherwise, I am trying to get it via GUI scripting. I think I am almost there, but am doing something stupid.
Here is what I have:
tell application "Audio MIDI Setup"
activate
end tell
tell application "System Events"
activate
tell application process "Audio MIDI Setup"
select window 1
select group
select tab group
select group
select combo box
set FrequencyValue to contents of combo box
end tell
end tell
Basically, this comes down to the question of how to extract the default text field from the combo box.Once you click on the combo box to get the list of items, you can do stuff with the results. The easiest thing would probably be to use the up and down arrows to change the selection, since the text field is not editable. You can compare the list of items with the current value and do something from there - how do you plan to choose the item to change to?
<pre style="
font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
font-size: 10px;
font-weight: normal;
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;
width: 720px;
color: #000000;
background-color: #DAFFB6;
overflow: auto;"
title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
tell application "Audio MIDI Setup" to activate
tell application "System Events" to tell application process "Audio MIDI Setup"
set comboBox to combo box 1 of group 1 of tab group 1 of group 1 of window "Audio Devices"
set frequencyValue to value of comboBox -- get current value
click button 1 of comboBox -- perform action "AXPress" to drop the list
set theChoices to value of text fields of list 1 of scroll area 1 of comboBox -- get all the values
-- keystroke (ASCII character 31) -- down arrow
-- keystroke (ASCII character 30) -- up arrow
-- keystroke return -- select and dismiss the list
end tell
activate me
choose from list theChoices default items {frequencyValue} -- just show the results

Need help!!!! GUI problems with netbeans
i have a problem with the interface i created using netbeans.
i created a JFrame, inside it a JDesktopPane, and inside that 3 JInternalFrames. the problem is in one of the JinternalFrames, i have 4 radio buttons which i forgot to add to a buttongroup and whenever i try to do that, the GUI doesn't work anymore. The bigger problem is that if i undo the changes, the thing still doesn't work and i have to copy my backup project folder over the one i work on to get an output.
i tried to edit the source code to add the 4 buttons to a button group but netbeans won't let me since i created the buttons thru it not by writing it myself
please i really need help with this and i hope its a stupid thing i'm just overlooking.
If u need the code, i will gladly post it.
thanks in advanceif you're not using a netbeans-specific layout manager, copy the working code
into notepad, make the changes, then compile and run from the command prompt.
if all works OK, dump netbeans -
guys, i need help.... is anyone there have an idea about opengl...? ill attach 4 files that needs to be enhanced or debug for possible errors. to see the canvas... you should have atleast all the needed lib and jar of opengl in your pc.
its urgent, its for our thesis actually....ill be dividing the codes with the use of (" **** ")sign...

Warning this is very long code but i need help to see if I am on right trac
I have done all the following code myself and it is the buisiness layer for my application. I have tried to follow recommendations on previous posts and I would like to be told where I can clean up my code and how? This is not complete and it looks very long to me but I need help in order to be better. There are 4 button vlivks and I have not completed them all. The criteria for application is that phonebook will accept new entries if they have names surnames and phone numbers that are not longer than 10 characters for display purposes but can change this. No duplicates are allowed. No editing of a existing entry must lead to a duplicate entry either. No new entry or edit may result in a new contact having no phone numbers.
Many thanks for your time in advance,.....

}Ok, given that I may have not been the kindest to you on the other thread (and I'm still annoyed that you went and cross-posted this), and that you did actually use code tags, I'm going to post some code here:
Please take the following advice onboard though.
1. When you are naming your artifacts, please use the java coding standard as your guide. So if you are naming a class you use a capital letter first, and use camel case thereafter. All method names begin with a lower case letter, and all variable names begin with a lower case letter (and again camel case after that)
2. Please use self explanitory names (for everything), so no more row1, row2, or text1, text2, etc.
3. The example I am giving below makes use of a single class to handle all actions, this is not really the best way to do this, and a better way would be to have a class to handle each action (that would remove the massive if() else if() in the action handler class.
4. When you are using class variables they should be private (no exceptions, ever!), if you need to access them from other classes use accessors (eclipse and other IDE tools can generate these methods for you in seconds)
5. Notice the naming convention for my constants (final statics), they are all upper case (again from the java coding standards document, which you are going to look for with google right?)
6. I have hived some of the creation work to helper methods (the getSubjectTextField() etc), although it isn't advisable to be calling other methods from the constructor, since this is a GUI, and you want it to appear as soon as you create the class, we won't worry about this, but perhaps as an execrise you could work out a better way to do this?
7. Personally, I don't like classes that implement listeners, unless they are specifically designed to do that job. So a Frame that is set up as an action listener is fine, provided the actions it listens for are associated with the frame, not its contents. If the actions are related to its contents, then a dedicated class is better.
8. Another personal opinion, but I feel it makes code clearer, but others may disagree. If you are creating a variable solely to hold the result of a calculation, to be passed to a method in the very next line, then don't create the variable, just pass the method as the argument to the method (feel free to ignore this advice if the method call is extremely long, and a local would make it easier to read)
Anyway, here is the code. I have removed most of the menu items, and leave this as an exercise for you. Also I have only created 2 methods (new and exit), I'll again leave it as an exercise for you to complete this.

Hi i need help with getting my homework for school
im in a nine week class that ends tommorw and need help go\etting my program working properly these are the requirements ofr the assignments:
Modify the Inventory Program by adding a button to the GUI that allows the user to move
to the first item, the previous item, the next item, and the last item in the inventory. If the
first item is displayed and the user clicks on the Previous button, the last item should
display. If the last item is displayed and the user clicks on the Next button, the first item
should display.
· Add a company logo to the GUI using Java graphics classes.
Modify the Inventory Program to include an Add button, a Delete button, and a Modifybutton on the GUI. These buttons should allow the user to perform the corresponding actions on the item name, the number of units in stock, and the price of each unit. An item added to the inventory should have an item number one more than the previous last item. Add a Save button to the GUI that saves the inventory to a C:\data\inventory.dat file. Use exception handling to create the directory and file if necessary. Add a search button to the GUI that allows the user to search for an item in the inventory by the product name. If the product is not found, the GUI should display an appropriate message. If the product is found, the GUI should display that products information in the GUI. Post final .class and .java files as an attachment.

When you run the program, the system displays the following basic list with a the page header defined in the program:
You can trigger the AT LINE-SELECTION event by double-clicking a line. The system sets the status TEST and deactivates the function code PICK. The status TEST contains function codes FC1 to FC5. These are assigned to pushbuttons in the application toolbar. The page header of the detail list depends on the status.
Here, double-clicking a line no longer triggers an event. However, there is now an application toolbar containing five user-defined pushbuttons. You can use these to trigger the AT USER-COMMAND event. The CASE statement contains a different reaction for each pushbutton.
For each interactive event, the system decreases the SY-LSIND system field by one, thus canceling out the automatic increase. All detail lists now have the same level as the basic list and thus overwrite it. While the detail list is being created, SY-LSIND still has the value 1.

Need help in creating webas abap system
hi
new to create jco and techinical system need help
experts i have few faqs on creating techinical system plz help me
i have 4.7ee r/3 and portal 2004s sp9
wer can i find these values plz give me navigation
SID == ?
MESG SEVER PORT ===?
to add application server
application host name ==?
application instance number ==?
client number ==?
logical client name ==?
it is asking to select a software component wat we have to select to finish
wen i gave some dummy values
i get an error
CIM_ERR_ALREADY_EXISTS: Instance already exists: SAP_BCApplicationServer.CreationClassName="SAP_BCApplicationServer",Name="C11.Number.00.HostName.rama"
is it necessary to have WAS in r/3 to connect to portal plz explaini want to use jco
but for that we need to create a techinical system
i followed these steps for techinical system
1 Step
selected web as abap
2nd step
sid = PRD
installation number== INITIAL
database host name== super
3rd step
message server name = 3600+instance
i took system number from sap gui(21)
so i gave 3600+21=3621
central application sever
instance number ==21
next pressed button -->add new logon group
entered longon group == entered value
which i found in t-code -smlg
4th Step
Add application server
host == gave r/3 ip 198.168.0.2
instance==21
client number = 800
logical client = left it empty
5 th step
selected one componenet and finished
after this i created the jco
1st Step general data
name =test1
client=800
2nd step j2ee cluster
checked the box
use local j2ee engine
3rd step
selected dictionary meta data
4 th
selected the techinical system
5th
user name -->sapuser
pasww-->india
pressed finish
now i found the jco in green color
but i pinged it
i got mesg

Need help with modifying IDS Sensor in WLC; Null Probe Response problem.
I need help in figuring out how to handle a NULL Probe Response report we are getting from our WCS.
We are getting the following alert from our WCS:
1. Message: IDS 'NULL probe resp 2' Signature attack cleared on AP 'XXXAP_#2' protocol '802.11b/g' on Controller '161.201.97.8'. The Signature description is 'NULL Probe Response - No SSID element'. - Controller Name: XXX-XXXX-XX
And
1. Message: IDS 'NULL probe resp 2' Signature attack detected on AP 'XXXAP#2' protocol '802.11b/g' on Controller '161.201.97.8'. The Signature description is 'NULL Probe Response - No SSID element', with precedence '3'. The attacker's mac address is 'ac:86:74:1e:15:5f', channel number is '5', and the number of detections is '1'. - Controller Name: XXX-XXXX-XX.
Is this something to be concerned with in terms of a potential attack, or should I ignore these types of emails?
According to a previous post here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10731846/wireless-system-has-detected-possible-intrusion-attack-signature I need to modify my IDS Signature folder in the WLC. I have no idea how to modify the file itself into the format needed to prevent these intrusions. Could somebody please help me correctly enter the right format needed for this file, or correct me in my thinking. I assume I'm in the right direction but if anyone has further information that could be helpful it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.The IDS signatures are stored in a file called wlc-sig_std.sig. That file can be edited via GUI by navigating to Security > Wireless Protection Policy > Standard Signatures. The links that you shared contain links to Cisco documentation that leave out the important parts of the documentation. The only way to get that documentation is to pull the existing signatures from the WLC using Commands > Upload File. Read that file for details on the syntax, then adjust your values in the GUI. I've attached a text document with the standard signature file.

This program im making is eventualy going to end up as an attack calculator; the thing is i need help finetuning my program so that a) when it is run it will start at the very top of the window ancestory. b) the 2 windows are locked onto the same ancestory (ancestory is the position of the window relitive to the others: ie the window that is on top of another is higher on the ancestory). this code runs and should easily cut and paste.

}I know this is a lot but when I have tried to put out the portion where I belived the problem to be, didnt work, people couldent help, so here it is all of it.it wouldn't run for me, until I changed these lines
contentPane.add( title1 );
contentPane.add( title2 );
contentPane.add( title3 );
contentPane.add( title4 );
SpringLayout layout = new SpringLayout();
contentPane.setLayout(layout);
to these
contentPane.getContentPane().add( title1 );
contentPane.getContentPane().add( title2 );
contentPane.getContentPane().add( title3 );
contentPane.getContentPane().add( title4 );
SpringLayout layout = new SpringLayout();
contentPane.getContentPane().setLayout(layout);
then it worked OK, smaller frame on top (the one with the info), larger frame behind.
both above all other windows
made it into a .jar file (in case IDE influenced above) and ran the same way
