I successfully downloaded Flash Player again (the older version is all my eMAC OS 10.4.11 can handle) but I cannot play anything. Is upgrading to 10.5 my only choice?

Every time I try to watch a video or movie, I get a notice telling me to get the new Adobe Flash Player. After trying to download it a number of times and failed, I uninstalled the version that came with OSX (as instructed as some point). That did not work.
I then re-installed the version that I had and am still in the same predicament.
I now even have regular sites (e.g. dictionary) telling me that I need to add plugins. When I click on "add" I am always directed to the Flash Player download.
QuickTime says I don't have the proper plugin but my computer says I have 7.6.4 and there are no problems.
The only plugin that shows (無効 - invalid) is Gecko.
Is it not possible to watch anything in this environment?
Do I need to cancel my movie subscriptions?

Are you successfully install, i can not see it in your "more system detail..." only real player plug in ?

Thanks for taking a stab at it: that didn't prove to be the problem. That option in the settings for tabbed browsing was not checked.
I may be a bit behind the times: I am used to tabbed browsing showing all the tabs it possibly can, instead of just the last one. Sometimes it won't even show the last tab: I can have 15 tabs open, and not see a single tab. I've been confused by this into closing a window with lots of tabs open, because it looks like a single page-window.
My main problem with the tab-bar flashing to the end of the row is that it means a great deal more mouse-clicking around to browse.
I haven't tried installing the latest beta. Maybe that would fix the problem.

The older version would allow to save tabs when closing, how can i get the new version to do the same?

the previous version would ask something like 'save file' when i would close firefox. as i use various tabs this is a very helpful feature for me. i would like to get this same feature on the new version, otherwise i want to know how to go back to the older version.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.

I deleted my version of Adobe Flash Player for the latest version and then it wouldn't install. Now I have no version and need advice as to trying to install an older version or what?

What does "still won't work" mean? Flash Player 10.3.183.90 is very old. You might find that many sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content, perhaps this is what you mean by "still won't work". Depending on your system, you may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 which will enable you to install the newest version of Flash Player. There's lots of information on this on the internet. Just search for "upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6" or similar.

Please contact me back with any ideas. System check by Adobe website and others says there is NO Adobe Flash Player on my PC even though the base model came pre-installed from Dell. I was just doing an Update to Player 11.

It isn't in your programs because it ISN'T a program... it's a plugin for your browser and THAT'S where you'll find it. If you use WIndows 8, Flash Player IS embedded in Internet Explorer. It updates through Windows Update.

I can't install. Says I don't have permissions to certain items. It won't update from 4 to 5. I can open 5 from my desktop but it won't update the older version with all the bookmarks.

What else do you want. I drop it in Apllications and it won't update. Say I don't have permission (on my own damn vcompouter) what's with that?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Where was that message coming from to install Flash? If it was a link coming from the site itself, I wouldn't trust that. It may be fake and you may have been prompted to install some kind of malware.

Install Flash Play by default will open Flash Player auto update, if there is a new version Flash player on the web, your browser will prompt to download the latest version flash player. so you receive download flash player message.
if you want to disable Adobe Flash player auto update, please follow this guide.

Download the offline installer here
Quit Safari (Cmd+Q)
Go to: Mac HD/Library/internet Plugins
Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder from there
Empty the trash
Mount the DMG (double click) and install Flash Player
Relaunch Safari and you should be good to go

Downloaded flash player butt its disabled??

I have downloaded adobe flash player to my windows 7 computer and it keeps saying Google chrome has it pre-installed and that i need to enable it through the plug ins. Every time i go to do this tho the plug in for it is not there. like i will type in the search bar chrome plugins and i have three of them but non of them have to do with flash or adobe at all. it will not let me re install do to it already being installed. my computer is running on a browser called speed browser so i am not sure if that has something to do with it. but would really like to get this fixed.... help!?

It's usually pretty far down. Expanding the "Details" button also helps. Flash Player *is* a built-in component of Chrome, so you should have it unless you've taken extraordinary means to get rid of it.
So, I have to assume that something is failing, which prompted you to go and download Flash Player in the first place. Can you describe that for me?

Should I download flash player? A large amount of videos require flash player. So far I have resisted but it's getting more frustrating not being able to view most news videos.

You can't download Flash Player on the iPad. It doesn't exist. There are some browsers that let you play Flash Content - Skyfire and iSwifter are two of them. They do not get great reviews.
If you want to watch news videos, many news networks have their own apps. USA Today, CNN, Fox News, CBS News, AOL Editions and others are available that have lots and lots of video content. Every one of these apps that I have downloaded are free as well.

Can't install flash player on Mac OSX version 10.4.11

I've spent the morning trying to do this and still no joy. I had flash player already and when trying to use the 4oD website it asked me to download or upgrade flashplayer. I did, the correct version according to my mac version. All goes well and the window message says 'installed successfully'.The only thing I find strange is that just before this message appears I hear the sound of items being put in the 'trash' ... and there they are. Other times the message error -1409 appears. The only icon that appears is the Flash player installer.pkg so not sure whether the application was installed or just the installer! All web searches prompt me to download the missing plug in, both in safari and mozilla. Java script is definitely enabled on both browsers.
I have use the uninstall package three times, restarted the computer, downloaded flash player again but no change.
Forgive my limited use of jargon - this doesn't make any sense to me but I've just spent 3 hours following instructions to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
