You can't merge the backups, you'll have to delete the backup of your old phone. If it says it's currently in use when you try, that will normally clear up on its own but may take 3-5 days to do so. Give it a few days and try deleting the old backup again.
In the meantime, you can create a manual backup of your new phone on your computer by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of your phone in iTuens, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking Back Up Now. Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Then you'll be safe until you can start backup up to iCloud again.

Help getting data from iTunes onto my New iPad from iPhone backup

Hi for 2 days now I have been trying to sync my New iPad2 with my iPhone 3GS, I have followed lots of threads & advice which has been helpful but its not quite happening for me!
I set up iCloud and iTunes as advised, my iPhone & iPad share the same Apple ID. I backed up my iPhone to iTunes successfully, and restored the iPad via iTunes using the iPhone backup, it went thru the motions OK so I assume completed but I can't see any change.
Under "Purchases" in my iTunes account it has two tabs one for the iPhone and the other iPad listing all my Apps so clearly it recognises my Apps but the Apps only feature on my iPhone I can't get them onto my iPad. I even deleted some apps and reloaded them since the sync & backups but it still doesn't work. Strangely under my "Account" in iTunes it says only 1 Device is recognosed by iTunes and thats my New iPad, yet it still shows a Tab under Purchases for my iPhone so I don't understand why this is not listed as a recognised Device under the Accounts tab.
My contacts, calendars etc are in sync between the two devices wihtout any trouble at all.
I did think it was because some of the apps were downloaded before the sync / backup but some threads lead me to beleive you can sync the content no matter when it was purchased. Under the "Purchases" tab for my iPad I can view my "Apps" which has a "Download all" option so Ibeing at a loss what to do next I proceeded to Download All and it was clearly doing this for some time but still nothing on my iPad.
I was advised to turn iCloud off whilst I do the backup and restore on iTunes, and then turn it back on after. I have turned my iPad off/on after these updates but still the apps do not transfer across.
I feel like I am so close now but for some reason something is still not working! Please Help - thankyou.
(Just to add both devices are using the latest software update & iTunes working with Vista Windows on PC.)

Connect and select iPhone in computer iTunes sidebar, in Music tab,
select
     Sync Music,
     Selected Playlists, artists, albums....
     Select the music you want on iPhone.
     Click Sync button (bottom right)

I had to get a new iPhone 4s, because my old one stopped connecting to wifi. The option was "greyed out." I restored my new iphone from what was most recently backed up to my iCloud. I am trying to get my new iPhone to back up to iCloud but it is saying I cannot because there isnt' enough room. My back up I used to restore was 4.1 of the 5 GB allowed in iCloud. If your contacts are on icloud.com, download them as a vCard as explained here: iCloud: Export contact information as a vCard. Then import them to your phone as explained in your manual. If you aren't able to, you can create a Gmail account and import the vCard to Gmail as explained here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/183711?hl=en, then add the Gmail account to your phone and sync your contacts from Gmail.
If they aren't on icloud.com, I'm not sure how you would access them from a backup on a Samsung, even if there was a backup.

Restore from iCloud backup. Pictures missing and ones there are blurry?

I went to the Apple Store and got a new phone so they went and did a restore from backup from iCloud. So, everything was fine and I went home and my apps were there. I look and only 900/1,700 photos transferred from iCloud onto the new device. Although, I have no more room on iCloud so they may still be there but because there is not enoguh wiggle room in the cloud for them to download, they cannot be pushed to the device. Or, more likely, my photos may be gone because the "genius" at Apple had wiped my phone so I'm not sure if my backup is still available or if it just says that it is. And, the 900 pictures that did transfer are all blurry and wont unblur so what should I do? Should I buy more storage and then restore this phone and restore from the previous iCloud backup? First of all, treat your device like a camera - always sync photos to a computer for archiving. Many users have lost photos doing a restore from iCloud, and this is generally due to several reasons: only photos in the camera roll are backed up, and (it seems) iCloud messes up often enough when backup/restore is used.

If you don't know, then update your iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1, then try to restore the backup again.

You will need to restore your phone and when prompted use the backup that you made yesterday.
Before you do so, you may wish to change your wife's iCloud login details, otherwise you may find that you then overwrite her data. She should have her own iCloud account to avoid this.

I've turned the phone off and on several times, but it won't progress in downloading the pictures. This happened the last time the phone was replaced and there was something I could do to get things moving, but I don't remember what?

Then you'll have to decide when you think it's hung and unlikely to restart. At that point, you'll probably have to reset it (by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release) and try restoring the backup again.
The only "solution" I've seen posted on photos that fail to restore from a backup that seems to have worked for others, is the on posted by ezjules here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589. If you restore the backup again, you could give it a try and see if it works for you.

Have you looked in the c:\system recovery files folder that should have been created when the restore process was created?
When the backup process was started, it should have given an estimated amount of space it would need and how many disks would be needed. Do you recall what it said it would need?
Unfortunately, the backup through the Recovery Manager that is performed is typically a one shot deal. If it fails, then it moves on to the recovery in most cases without giving an opportunity to get a backup going again. This is not always the case, but it is in most cases.
Do you recall any error messages during the backup process? If the restore is asking for a disk 2, then it expected to have more than one disk when the backup was made. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done in that case. Sorry.
I highly recommend using a cloud based backup as this is generally independent of any physical media in your location. There are some free options out there, but they are limited in space.

No it's not normal. Try a reset, hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

My hard drive crashed with no backup. How can I get the data from iCloud onto my Mac?

My hard drive went bad and needed to be replaced and I've lost everything that was on it (no backup - I know, I know...). Fortunately much of my data was backed up either on icloud or my ipad but I haven't been able to find any information about restoring it FROM icloud or ipad TO my Mac, only about how to restore to an ios device. I guess what I meant to say was that I can log on to icloud to see my contacts, calendars, etc but is there a way to get that data onto my computer? In other words, how do I associate my new hard drive with my icloud account? I am probably not phrasing this properly - sorry. I had an iPhone 4 and just got a new 5c. I backed up my 4 to icloud as i dont't own a laptop. I bought 20GB of storage and everything seemed to work. When I set up new iPhone i selected 'Restore from iCloud Back up' as I need old contacts on this new phone HOWEVER, I do not want all photos on new phone as I donot have enough space and they will fill up my memory. They are already in my iCloud so I shouldn't need them on new phone. I didn't see any option to just restore data rather than media and so photo stream is downloading constantly but wont finish as there is not enough space on phone. How can I just restore contacts to new phone and not pictures? My other option could be to set up as new iphone, but if I do this can I then download the contacts from my icloud seperately?

You can't restore only part of the backup. Only camera roll photos are stored in the backup and they will have to be restored as part of restoring the entire backup. Photo stream photos are not stored in the backup; photo stream photos from the last 30 days will stream to your new phone when it signs into your iCloud account. You can stop this by turning off my photo stream in Settings>iCloud>Photos.
The other thing you should be aware of is that you can't have photos in iCloud that are not also on your phone. If you delete them from your phone, they will be deleted from iCloud.

Hi everyone my phone recently broke and i had everthing backed up to icloud and not my computer. will i be able to restore everything to a new iphone from icloud and if so how would i do it ? also if i back my iphone up to just my computer and it breaks will i be able to reinstall itunes on a new computer and get everthing from my iphone back ? I was just curious as to which method of backup is better for complete piece of mind if my iphone and computer were to break at the same time (i know that would be unlikely but stranger things have happend haha). hope someone can help me i would really appreciate it .

Yes, you can get the data onto a new iPhone. When you first turn it on, you will need to go through the setup screens, one of which asks if you want to restore from a backup. Choose Restore from iCloud backup and sign in with your Apple ID. For a complete walkthrough of each setup screen, see:
