I try to restore my homepage to the default homepage but every time i start firefox it brings me back to the same homepage that i tried to remove?
flv tube is set as my home page. everytime i go to change my homepage to something other than flv tube and exit fire fox, when i restart fire fox the same flv tube web site loads as my homepage. i go to the tools tab and reset my home page to default but it does not change. im sick of seeing flv tube as my home page, im very frustrated with this. can someone help me?
The [[Preferences are not saved]] article should help resolve this.

I was infected by a virus (i can't remember the virus name). Antivirus removed it, but i think it changed some config file on FF, 'cause every time i try to restart it , i find it configured to use proxy 127.0.0.1:64727. I change every time the config, i also tried to change the config on the about:config and set network.proxy.type 5 , no port and no network proxy (so it's all on default) . I changed the config on the gui, i removed the config from windows registry ( IE and chrome start normally, with no proxy), but every time i restart FF i find the proxy config there. How can i fix it ?
I had the same problem.
Solution
'''Clear Virus First'''
-clear virus using either anti-virus or manually going into task manager and figuring out which processes are bad.
-If the manual way, go through each process in task manager and right click to "open file location". Depending on where it is located and the name of the process, you can google the process name online to see if it is bad.
-Delete the bad process file and as added security, create a folder using the name of the process so the file can't be recreated later. (example: If I had a virus "3dcr.exe" in folder c:\user, then delete "3dcr.exe" and create a new folder c:\user\3dcr.exe\ )
'''Fix Proxy Settings'''
-If your browser points an proxy server and you can't change the settings because every restart of firefox returns the settings back (even after changing in about:config or prefs.js or options>advanced>network>settings). The answer is to uninstall firefox with all its user preferences and the reinstall it.
*I know it is a bit brute force, but it was the only method I found to work. Just be sure to save your bookmarks first. -
My macbook Pro is stuck on a grey screen with language select and every time i click english it brings me back to the same gray page with language select what do i do? Heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5e5thk0O9oShut down your computer and disconnect all peripherals (keyboard & mouse if pertinent) from your computer. Now reboot.
If the Mac starts up normally, shut it down again and then plug in one of the peripherals (keyboard or mouse first) and start up your computer again. If it does so successfully repeat the process, adding one peripheral at a time until your Mac acts up. At that point, disconnect the last peripheral you added, reboot your Mac and search the peripheral vendor's website for an updated driver.
If no driver exists or the problem remain after installing the new driver, try a different cable or a different port on your Mac.
If none of the above works, again disconnect all peripherals from your Mac, hold down the "shift" key to start up in "Safe Boot" mode.
If the Mac starts up correctly, restart without pressing the "shift" key.
If your computer still does not start up properly, shut it down and restart it while holding down the Apple+Option-P-R keys; keep holding "all 4 keys" down until you hear the startup sound "twice."
If none of the above work Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
(If Disk Utility cannot repair, you will need a stronger utility (3rd party) - Diskwarrior or Techtool PRO)
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
Remove any 3rd party ram.
Reinstall Leopard - This will install a "fresh" copy Leopard without archiving old system files but leaves the rest of your files in place.
If you still want to restore your computer to factory level...
Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.
To restore read the instructions in the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard - Installation and Setup Guide PDF -
A large envelope pops up mid-screen every time I start Firefox, asking if I want to restore previous session. I don't want all users after me to have this option, but don't want to keep an empty history either. Can I deselect this option somewhere? Looked around, but found nothing.
Unfortunately changing the options found under "Completely disable session restore" does not make any difference to this problem.

Since july 2 I have Acrobat Pro (the paid version). But every time I start the program I get the screen with: this is a trial version. You have X days left, etc. I find that quite annoying.
This is not just annoying, it is wrong, because at the end of the trial it will stop completely. You must resolve it before then.
So, did you do anything to license the trial version? It needs to be told that you have purchased, or it will stop working at the end of the trial. -
Neither my shortcuts nor my firefox.exe have Run As Administrator checked. And yet I get this prompt every time I start Firefox on my new laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
unchecking "Run this program as an administrator" under the Compatibility tab in the properties of the program was my first guess....darn.
Ok I understand that this is only happening in Firefox. If you start it in safe mode does this still happen? This will tell you if its an add on or a changed configuration:[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] -
I crammed the info into the subject line, but to repeat...
Every time I start Firefox, the Plugin Check runs. Every ... single ... time. Very annoying. How do I get this to stop?
AND
I installed Adobe Acrobat at least 3 times, but it still shows up as "outdated". Obviously, it only truly installed once, but I tried clicking the button in vain hope that that will fix it.
But really, I simply don't want the Plugin Check to start every time.
thxAlas, I already tried setting it to False (read it online somewhere) and it doesn't work. Perhaps if you could give guidance on why the Adobe install isn't completing, that would solve the plug-in check issue... Fingers crossed.

Can I disable the restore previous session that appears every time I start Firefox?
I want to disable the Restore previous session button that appears every time I start Firefox
Consider using a separate password protected Operating System account, if possible, that may help.
You may use [[Private Browsing]] to prevent some of these problems occurring.

I have set up Sync at least five times on my two devices (iMac and Macbook Air). Each time I launch Firefox, I'm prompted (in Preferences) to set up Sync again, which I do using the same Sync Key, username or password. No matter what I do, these Sync preferences are not saved, and I'm not able to keep the two devices synced. Is there something I'm missing?
