We have a 2009 MBP, 2010 MBP, 2011 MBA, an IPAD 2, and several ipods. Currently, my 2009 MBP is the main computer, holding all the music and pictures. This has used up the majority of the available storage and definitely slows it down some. I do back up the full computer to a backup drive and also remove the large movie files to another external drive. I'm thinking about getting a new iMac to use as the main computer. Has anyone done this? What is your experience and recommendations?
I look forward to all responses.
Thanks,
BradThanks for your response. I look forward to hopefully learning something new here.
A good share of my music was added via my CDs, but now everything is added via itunes and occasionally amazon. Almost all my pictures and video are added through my cameras via iphoto although I have added some with the 'add image to iphoto library' function also. -
How do i transfer my music library and playlist from old computer to new computer with windows 7

I would like to transfer my music library, including playlists, from my old iphone to my new iphone.
Connect the new phone to the computer and iTunes, then sync your library. I'm guessing that you have been syncing the old phone in the past, which would keep your library updated.

I have an iphone6. I am unsure whether to go from 8.1.3 operating system and switch to ICloud Drive or not? Has anyone done this? Is it awesome? I need to be able to access my resume from phone. I think this will help me achieve this? Am i right? Is there any body out there right now that could help me? I'm thinking about going from 8.1.3 to I guess yosemite? Or is that for Mac computers? I don't understand the language entirely on the help page. Anyone's straight forward and easy stepped advice would be much appreciated. I'm so frustrated and I need a job so badly! Drowning in debt. Any help appreciated!
Thanks,

I have a very large music library 500 GB on an external drive how do I get it on my brand new iMac intel
This article should help. You didn't mention what format the files are in and what format the external hard drive is, however this article povides the basics. You're probably most interested in the last section titled 'Adding content on your computer to iTunes'.

Hi. My name is Kim. I was wanting to know if anyone has gone through similar experience. I redeemed a iTunes gift card that was given to me. I'm told by iTunes store to sign in which I do, but then it takes me straight to billing I enter the correct three digit security code, then what happens it tells me invalid Cvv. Could someone please tell me this what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card to use, and why doesn't let me download my music. I use a iPhone 3GS. Thanks
Hi Kim ...
Might not just be the security code > iTunes Store: My credit card's security code or zip code does not match my bank's records
Apple "verifies" your billing credentials with every transaction.
what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card
If the total purchase price of the media including any applicable taxes or fees exceeds the balance of the redeemed card, then the difference is charged to your debit or credit card account.
iTUNES STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS < re taxes and fees
You don't have to have a credit or debit account setup > Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card -
The "Livestream" address is Preston Trail Community Church. We can watch this on the I-phone so why not be able to stream to our appletv?
The Apple TV cannot receive live streams such as that.
However if the website or app you are watching it from is enabled then you can stream it to your Apple TV via airplay. If you have the iPhone 4S you could also use mirroring. -

I wish to move my iTunes library from my PC to an external drive to make room on my PC. How do I do this?
The following may help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364
Note the following fine print therein:
Note: If you move your library to an external drive, you'll need to power up and connect the drive before starting iTunes. If you don't, iTunes will prompt you to either locate the library or to create a new library (which will result in an empty library). No matter what, it's always a good idea to have a backup of the media you have in iTunes. -
Move itunes music and playlists from one disk to another on same mac pro
I was running Maverick 10.9.1 on my early 08 Mac Pro. I was having significant problems with the system locking up and having to shut it down manually. After discussing the problem with an Apple Support Rep, I executed a clean installed of Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a new HDD. I need to move my itunes library from the old Maverick HD to the new Snow Leopard HD. My Time Machine is corrupted for the old drive. How can I move my music and playlists from itunes on the old drive Maverick to the new Snow Leopard drive? I will also need to move my address book contacts. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks. This solved the iTunes problem. Any suggestion as to how I cam move or copy my address book to the new HD? I can't find the location of the address book files on the old HD.

If I move my music library to an external drive, am I going to loose my playlists
Hi,
I need to move my Music Library to an external hard drive. Am I going to loose my playlists? This User Tip by Terence Devlin describes options how to back up iPhoto libraries,
iPhoto and File Management
The simplest way is to copy the library to an external drive.
And sure, after testing the copy, you can delete selected events from your original library, then would your backup be no longer the backup, but your only copy of the deleted events. In that case you should use two backups, and preferably on different drives.
Also, do you know what to do, if I want to keep backing up newer, more recent photos I take into the same older library?
iPhoto does not support the merging of libraries. You would have to export the photos from th events and import them into your archive library. Or buy iPhoto Library Manager, that supports merging of Libraries.
Another way to keep your backup in sync with the original would be using clones of your disk as backup or TimeMachine. -
In the latest verision of ITunes (downloaded yesterday) I can no longer see how large (in GB's) my music library or playlists are. This is a very valuable function and it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know where it is?
Go to the View menu and turn on the Status Bar. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

Question regarding the IR receiver on the 2012 MBP non retina.
