ICal randomly doesn't send email alarms

I'm having issues with iCal missing some, but not all, email alarms. I have all my birthday reminders set the same way, to email me 7 days before. Some emails are sent, some are not. I have 4 calendars set up, and emails from other calendars are being missed as well. It seems to be random as I can't find any pattern linking the missed emails.
As far as I can tell I have never missed any pop-up message alarms, only email alarms.
I haven't made any changes to cause this that I know of, it just started missing emails one day. I suppose it could have corresponded with the 10.6.3 update as the timing would have been in the right ballpark, but I really can't say for sure.
I tried deleting all calendars and reimporting a previously exported iCal backup file without luck.
Not sure what else to try. Any ideas?

Hi
I had the same issue here. I solved the alarm sending with this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11602956#11602956
but the other problem was that some random changes occured with the recurrence of the events in my Birthdays calendar. I solved that with this script:
tell application "iCal"
tell calendar "Birthdays"
repeat with Evento in events
tell Evento
set recurrence of Evento to "FREQ=YEARLY"
end tell
end repeat
end tell
end tell

My ipad doesn't send emails. Message says the server does not allow relaying. What does that mean and how do I fix it?

    Copied from here.
    http://appletoolbox.com/2012/01/server-does-not-allow-relaying-email-error-fix/
    How to fix
If this is an AOL issue, try these: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select your AOL.com account > SMTP from the Account Info Page > SMTP from the SMPT Page > make sure that the Server is ON, make sure that the Host Name is smtp.aol.com. Further make sure your username and password are correct and added in the Outgoing Mail server; make sure that Authentication is set to Password and make sure that Server Port is 587
If this is not an AOL email: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts >Account Info > SMPT> turn off primary server, turn on other (e.g. AT&T) SMTP server.
Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Account > Outgoing mail Server SMTP > Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name and Password under Outgoing Mail Server.

  • CF mail server doesn't send emails

    Hi everyone,
we are running a CF 4.5 server in our company. the CFMail
doesn't send emails since last week. the emails are in the queue.
the server IP is correct, we restarted it a few times, nothing
    helped.
Does anyone have any idea about possible problems?
    thanks in advance.

I've seen other posts that indicate sometimes an email
    message can cause
a log jam. It can't be sent for some goodness only knows
    reason and
then causes the process to abort piling up messages behind
    it.
What happens if you remove the first (or first few) messages
    in the que?

  • My mac doesn't send emails since the last update

since I gave my mac the last update, it doesn't send emails, it receives emails, but doesn't send them. It says error: this message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server. Select an outgoing mail server from the list below.
But there's no list and when I go to preferences and try to select one, it doesn't do anything. Please I need to solve this problem.

    Howdy mfl17,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you aren’t able to send email with Mail on your MacBook Pro because there isn't an outgoing mail server setup. Try using the article below as a guide for setting up your service providers outgoing mail server in Mail.

  • Can I ical send email alarms through Thunderbird?

Is it possible to use Thunderbird as my default application for ical rather than mail? I haven't been able to figure it out.
If yes, how would I change it? Thunderbird is my default email program but yet mail continues to open when an email alarm needs to be sent out!
    Thanks

    yvrbos,
I know that you said you have Thunderbird set in your Mail application but since I do not use Thunderbird, the How do I make Thunderbird my default mail program? FAQ says: go to Tools > Options..., click on "General" and check Mail, then click OK.
Another consideration is Resetting Launch Services, by Dr. Smoke. Be sure to read the notes regarding other consequences of using this procedure.

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 Workflow Doesn't Send Email

We are trying to create a workflow that will send an email if a field in a new item in a list contains a certain value.
Example: A user adds a new item to a particular list. The workflow is supposed to send an email if the Number field = 3 in that item.
We can add the item, but the workflow doesn't appear to send the email.
    The workflow looks like this:
    Step 1: If Current Item:Number equals 3
                     Email John Doe
                 then Stop the workflow
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try adding Current Item:Number to log history and check the values are matching properly.
Validate the data types like both are number field to get your condition through. else add an intermediate variable to help this.
Check the send email functionality with out any conditions to validate your smtp configured properly at server.
    Hope this helps.

  • ICal "add invitees" not sending email notifications

What is supposed to be the behaviour of iCal event invites?  I've never used it because it didn't seem to send email notifications and I never recieved any email notifications from people inviting me.  I would just see a grey dotted event in my iCal and I'd have to open it to see who invited me.  Also, when inviting people is there a way to use a default email that you are inviting from?  I have 4 email addresses and I can't seem to find any way to tell it to email from one specific email.

  • My ical calender does not send email alerts anymore, now what?

The alerts are configured correctly, if I look at the alert it says that an email will be send (for ex. 09.00 the day before). However when the moment comes, the email does not. Can anyone help me with this one. This is the case since the upgrade to Mavericks.

Hi Patrick, I have the same problem as does everybdy else I guess - it just wont work!
I have set My Card in address book, tested it 100 times and whatever you do it ill not send an email alert? Everything I see on forums blah blahs about setting my card in address book and hey presto but none of it helps.
Someone MUST know if it will ever work or if it is another issues that apple will never resolve, instead they will just ruin a perfectly nice looking operating system by updating it and making my phone icons and notes / bookshelf etc look like it was bought from Toys R Us instead of an Apple store!
Did you find a solution to iCal not sending email alerts? DAVID.

  • Can iCal send email alarms to someone other than self?

I would like to have iCal send an email to someone other than myself via an alarm. Is that an option and if so, how is it done? Thanks in advance.

If you have a ISP based email it can only be sent through Mail via your home ISP connection (or the same ISP elsewhere).
If you use the ISP's web page email access then you can do it from any machine or on any ISP.
Most people use a free web based email like GMail or Yahoo, then they can access through any computer with a web browser anywhere.
I haven't used Mail in years.

  • Mail doesn't send emails after Leopard upgrade!

    Hi everyone..
I am wondering if anybody is facing this as well..
Since I upgraded to Leopard, and Mail retrieves both of my emails on Gmail and .Mac inboxes very well and stable.. But, when it comes to sending, it doesn't.
It keeps on taking forever to finally give me this error "The connection to the server “smtp.mac.com” on port 25 timed out" and of course, I have checked everything the error told me, and no it's not my fault. I thought .Mac mail servers are down, but, no.. My outbox mail lies there for about three days now and no clue how could I help mail succeed sending them.
If somebody faced similar problem, and might have a solution for it, please help.
    Thank you.
    Mark

    When I try to delete an e-mail . . .
    Error message is as follows:
"The IMAP command “UID COPY” (to Deleted Messages) failed for the mailbox “INBOX” with server error: Error in IMAP command received by server.."
This is my first Leopard bug. The Mail program cannot delete messages using IMAP. Mail worked fine using Tiger, so that is lame. Now I have to use Webmail to actually delete a message. Any thoughts?

  • Password reset and email doesn't send email.

I want to reset my password, so I clicked on reset password and email, and have not received an email. Now I have no idea what my password is. It's really tough to get to this page.

I've had this problem for several weeks, now running FF 6.0.2, although I doubt the FF version has anything to do with the problem. I sent the following e-mail to [email protected] on 9/20, and have so far received no reply:
    ============
I've been having login problems on Mozilla sites lately, apparently
because I can't remember my username. Since I can't remember my
    username, I can't request a password reset.
I've tried the usernames in Firefox's Saved Passwords file, but of
course they don't work. I can't reregister because my email address is
"already in use", undoubtedly by me. One of the Firefox sites eventually
gets to where they claim to send me account information, but that never
shows up, either in my Thunderbird client, or in Verizon's files --
either mail or junk. I've tried this many times with the same result,
Is there any way to simply delete my e-mail account from all of
Mozilla's websites, forums, etc., and let me start over?
    ===============
I've established a new account using a new e-mail address, so I can start using the forums again, but I would like to get back to using my "real" e-mail if possible.
Interestingly, when I post anonymously and am asked for an e-mail to confirm my subscription to a forum, I use my "real" e-mail, and receive the confirmation request from [email protected] OK. It's just the password-reset e-mails that aren't working.

So, the answer is : the email sender must belonging to the same Exchange server than the receiver. Both emails must having the same suffixe.
    That's all.
