ICal Server: logs showing "Too many matching components" errors

Setup:
     MacMini3,1 (Core2Duo) running OS X 10.6.8 Server
Services Enabled:
     AFP
     iCal
     NetBoot
     Open Directory
     Push Notifications
     SMB
     Web
iCal Server:
About 100 users in OpenDirectory, but the only thing OD is used for is to provide iCal accounts.  Our iCal clients are split evenly among native iCal client users, Thunderbird/Lightning users, and those who access via http.  One thing that may be worth mentioning is the way we use this calendar: Management has decided that they want one calendar user who gets invited to nearly every **** event that anyone schedules, an "overview" so that everyone can add this user as a read-only delegate, and then they can see what everyone at the company is up to at a glance.  So this has created one gigantic iCal account with perhaps 15 events per-day every-day for the last 3 years - and all 100 users have read access to these events.
The Problem: error.log is full of messages like this:

I've not be able to find any documentation on this error in my google searches...  Does anyone have experience with this error, or a possible solution?
Thanks!

Hi,
we have EBusiness suite 11.5.10.2 Solaris 5.10 Production server. Until last 3 week (for the past 1.5 years), there were max 10 archive log generation (archive size like 250mb) now which has been increased to 200 kb,152kb,1mb archives for every 1 MIN.
I am unable to understand this behaviour. The number of users still remain the same and the usage is as usual.
Is there a way I can check what has gone wrong? I could not see any errors also in the alert.log
Please suggest what can be done.
Thanks
Rajeshredo generation is the result of the activity on the system. You've therefore either started doing much more work - which the business users might well be able to let you know about - or you've started doing you existing workload extremely inefficently, which your business users will probably have noticed. I would start in this case, not with logminer, but with the business and the application - ebusiness suite for example keeps pretty good logs of what activity has happened on the system. Id also be interested in what was changed 3 weeks ago, because something was!

  • Software update server showing too many updates

We are having an issue with our Software Update Server on 10.6.8.  It has started showing too many updates to the clients.  For example, it will show the iTunes 10.5.1 update as well as iTunes 10.5 update if the 10.5 update hasn't been applied.  If iTunes is several versions behind, it will show all those updates too.  I also see this on Security Updates and Raw Compatibility updates.
At first I thought this was due to turing on the ability to host Lion updates, but it isn't the case.  I have since turned on SUS on a different machine and it still does this for updates.
Anyone have a fix for this?

Same issue with our 2008 XServe.  At 3am to 8am this morning, Software Update Server went loony & downloaded over 18GB of old updates.
Naturally, after tracking down this was the culprit, I've gone in & temporarily disabled Copy all updates from Apple, and disabled Automatically enable copied updates.  To preserve our miniscule amount of broadband download quota remaining - it had shrunk to 500MB for the coming fortnight.
    So we'll have to data-diet.
No idea why 18GB of old updates were downloaded out of the blue by Software Update Server.  I wonder if yesterday's release of Apple Software Installer Update 1.0 somehow adjusted the back end of update management.

Sorry for the late resp. Here's what dev suggests be investigated:
    I would want to know:
Can they do a "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dmstool -dump" and
    save/compress/send the results?
Are there any errors printed in the Apache error_log while this leak occurs?
The customer could/should re-check their TCP settings, especially the TCP time wait interval and generally follow the TCP settings recommended in Chapter 5 of the iAS Performance Guide for 9.0.2.
Is there anything else interesting/unusual about the site?
Let us know how it goes.

  • IChat keeps telling me I've tried logging on too many times...

    Ok... so here's the story:
I'm visiting my sister, and she has netgear... I tried logging on to iChat, and it went berserk, logging on and off several times in a row. And then a message popped up the next time I logged on saying: "You have attempted to login too often in a short period of time. Wait a few minutes before trying to login again." So... I searched on this website to see what to do about this, and I found that I need to change the port to 443... so I did it... but it won't even let me attempt to log in anymore, and the same error message keeps popping up.
Is there a way I can reset this so it doesn't keep telling me I've tried to log on too many times? I've tried restarting, and that's just not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm gonna try turning the computer off and removing and replacing the battery to see if that words...
    thanks

I have an iphone3 and tried to log in too many times.  Now I am locked out.  When I press my home button, I get the emergency call screen and not my home screen.
    What do I do?

  • Error 6000E when try to log in.  In the server log: "snapshot too old"

I have the error 6000E when i try to log in
and in the server log: "snapshot too old"
This happened after a power outage.
I have tried a few things with the db but no luck yet, Jeff did you ever figure this out?

    Hello user526627 and all,
I also have installed apex 2.2 successfully. At least I've not found any errors and this is the tail of install.log:
Thank you for installing Oracle Application Express.
Oracle Application Express is installed in the FLOWS_020200 schema.
The structure of the link to the Application Express administration services is as follows:
    http://host:port/pls/apex/apex_admin
The structure of the link to the Application Express development interface is as follows:
    http://host:port/pls/apex
    timing for: Upgrade
    Elapsed: 00:00:00.12
    JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES: 10
    Completing registration process.
    Validating installation.
    timing for: Validate Installation
    Elapsed: 00:03:18.10
    timing for: Complete Installation
    Elapsed: 00:38:11.54
Interesting thing is that I am getting 404 when I use suggested http://host:port/pls/apex/apex_admin or http://host:port/pls/apex (I am using host name of the machine or ip address). However the http://host:port/pls/htmldb/ and http://host:port/pls/htmldb/apex_admin works (at least, I am getting a page without images). In addition, when I provide user name and password on the http://host:port/pls/htmldb/apex_admin page and click on 'Login' nothing happens... :(
This is a clean install. I've also used a HTMLDB 2.0 install from companion cd (Oracle10g R2 for Windows) - this had worked ok, however it did stop working when I istalled apex 2.2 on top of it. I've dropped flow-schemas and tablespaces I've created for apex 2.2 install and started the install over again. However, still no luck. Here is the command I am using to start apex 2.2 installation:
    @apexins ********** htmldb_data htmldb_files htmldb_temp /i/ none
I have installed oracle http server in a standalone home, the http server works.
    Thank you for your time,
    Daniel

  • Intermittent too many open files error and Invalid TLV error

    Post Author: jam2008
    CA Forum: General
I'm writing this up in the hopes of saving someone else a couple of days of hair-pulling...
Environment: Crystal Reports XI Enterprise / also runtime via Accpac ERP 5.4
    Invalid TLV error in Accpac
"too many open files" error in event.log file
    Situation:
Invalid TLV error occurs seemingly randomly on report created in CR Professional 11.  Several days of troubleshooting finally lead to the following diagnosis:
This error occurs in a report that contains MORE THAN 1 bitmap image.
The error only shows up after 20 or more reports have been generated sequentially, WITHOUT CLOSING the application that is calling the report.  In our case the Invoice Report dialog within Accpac.  This same error occurred in a custom 3rd party VB.NET app that also called the report through an Accpac API.

after getting this message you need to do 2 things:
    1. delete the current workspace because it contains some bad data in one the config files - failure to delete the workspace will result the error message to appear even if trying to upload a single file.
    2. add to DTR files in groups - no more than 500 in a single add.

Error executeQueryForObject returned too many results
    Typical Error msg:
“SqlMapClient operation; uncategorized SQLException for SQL []; SQL state [null]; error code [0]; Error: executeQueryForObject returned too many results.; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: Error: executeQueryForObject returned too many results”
The error is caused for using queryForObject (for a single result) instead of queryForList (when expecting multiple results).
    Example of correct solution
    In DAO:
    public List<UpdatedContractRateDO> getUpdatedCtrctRate(Map paramMap) throws DataAccessException {
    return (List<UpdatedContractRateDO>) getSqlMapClientTemplate().queryForList("charge.getUpdatedCtrctRate", paramMap);
    }

  • ICal Server not showing up in drop-down in WGM?

    Hello.
    I have two Xserves.
Xserve001 = OD Master, DNS (primary zone)
Xserve002 = Connected to OD Master, DNS (secondary zone), Web (and Wiki)
Everything thus far is working fine (including Wiki, even though it's on the second Xserve and not the OD Master)
Now I want to enable iCal Server on Xserve002.
I enter the hostname (xserve002.mydomain.com) in Host Name, save and Start iCal.
    It says iCal is running.
I then log into WGM, select a user and check "Enable calendaring", but the drop-down only lists "No Calendar Host Selected". Nothing else.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Also, I tried entering calendar.mydomain.com in Host Name, but when I click "Start iCal" it gives the error "No Virtual host found for iCal server". In DNS (on Xserve001) I have "calendar" set up as an alias to point to Xserve002, so I thought that entering calendar.mydomain.com should work?
Maybe this shouldn't work, but I don't know? And since when I enter xserve002.mydomain.com into the Host Name field and start the server, but it doesn't show up as a selectable option in WGM, I know there's something wrong with iCal Server as a whole right now and so it makes me question being able to use calendar.mydomain.com?
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

If it helps at all, these are my error logs, though I find these lines most interesting?

  • Open Directory logging? (Too many open files)

I recently had a request from another admin to up the logging output of my OD servers. So I opened WGM, opened the OLCGlobalConfig section and changed the olcLogLevel to Filter. At which point my OD server stopped allowing edits and updates to the server. And started reporting "too many open files" in the system.log. So I guess I have 2 questions.
    1) What is the proper method for increasing the log level of an OD server? The other admin is looking for query data and queries per second data. So if there is some other way of getting that data I'm all for it.
    2) Is there any solution for the "too many open files" if I change the olcLogLevel in the future?
    Thanks,
    Derek

Explore the odutil command.  There are 7 levels of logging available.  error is the default.  You may want to try notice to see if that gives you the information you want.
    sudo odutil set log notice

  • IPlanet 5.0 error log sayss: too many fds open

    Hello,
we are using iPlanet 5.0 on a windows 2000 machine.
In the error log I found the following message:
Not listening for new connections - too many fds open
How can I check the number of open fds on a a windows 2000 machine? Where is the maximum number of open fds set?
    Can anybody help me?
    Regards Christiane

    Hi Christiane,
This message is quite unusual on windows as fds means files descriptors and is more a unix parameter.
Anyway, normally on Unix, you have 2 locations to modify the file descriptors:
    - One on the OS level (on solaris in the /etc/system file).
    - One on the application (iPlanet Directory Server).
As I don't think there is any OS parameter for windows, then maybe the one on the Directory Server is there and would need to be increased.
On a Directory Server 5.x (on Unix), this parameter is located in the configuration file: <server_root>/slapd-<your_instance>/config/dse.ldif
This parameter is available (again, on Unix) under the "dn: cn=config" block and for the parameter name "nsslapd-maxfiledescriptor".
You may try to see if this parameter is present in your config file, and if yes, try to increase its value. Do it while the Directory Server is stopped.
Hope this would help. If it does, then please post back your feedback here, to share your solution with us.
    Cheers / Damien.

  • Keyword Search showing too many photos

I have over 22,000 photos and over 300 keywords for them.  Sadly I cannot search by keyword since the keyword list only shows the last 146 keywords on the screen (a known bug that, in my case, only shows keywords beginning with p-z) and there is no way to scroll to any keywords before it.  I have therefor taken to entering the keywords manual in the "all" field, which worked fine in iPhoto 08, but reveals way too many photos in iPhoto 11.  From what I can tell, if there is one photo with that keyword in any given event, it will show me every photo in that event.  So, for example, if I want to see "Jane" and there is one photo of Jane in the Hawaii" event, it will show me every photo in the "Hawaii" event.
I have occassioanlly stumbled upon workarounds for this, I think entering a space after the keyword or something, but can't recall any concrete solution that seems to work now.  Can anyone help me with this extremely frustrating problem?  (And I know about Smart Albums.  That won't solve this one.)

Did you ever solve this problem. I have it too and it's driving me crazy.
