Icon tab bar / CSS

Hi all ,
I'm trying to attach CSS in order to adjust the icon tab bar header color.
I've assigned ID & Class to the tab bar and tried to attach both to the CSS but there is no affection on the tab bar.
any suggestions ?
Regards,
Arie.

you can't do it that way
.idIconTabBar means a a class name not ID
for ID you need to use #
another problem is that idIconTabBar will have a prefix with view name
you need to call addStyleClass and pass name of your custom class and define it in css, like
.myIconTabBar
{background-color:rgba(0,120,100,0.1)!important;}
rgba(156,176,255,0.55)
addStyleClass ("myIconTabBar")

  • How should I do for my Tab Bar icon???(For iPhone 4)

I have already had the design. However, there are two resolutions:
    30 x 30 pixels
    About 60 x 60 pixels (high resolution)
Are they the same way to implement?
    What is the implementation there???
I tried to put the icon file(png file) in my resources section of my Xcode, and then add the file from the attributes window of the tab bar. But It turned out that the image couldn't be shown, it was a square of gray color, no lines, no figures!
How come? What should I do?
    Thanks a lot!!!

    From the linked document:
For tab bar icons, create an icon in the following sizes:
    For iPhone and iPod touch:
    About 30 x 30 pixels
    About 60 x 60 pixels (high resolution)
    For iPad:About 30 x 30 pixels
Note: The icon you provide for toolbars, navigation bars, and tab bars is used as a mask to create the icon you see in your application. It is not necessary to create a full-color icon.
Use Preview, GraphicConverter, etc....see the Mac App Store for image editors and add an alpha channel to your image...size it, and add it to the bundle.

  • How do I get a Vista 64 bit XP machine to show a "+" icon on the tab bar to "Open a new tab" and the "Open a new tab" icon on the far right of the Bookmarks tool bar?

I have Firefox 4.0.1 installed on two laptops, one with Windows Vista, 64 bit and the other with Windows XP. Both machines have the "Open a new tab" icon on the far right of the Bookmarks tool bar. The XP machine also has a + icon on the tab bar to "Open a new tab" while the Vista machine does not have that + icon. I like using that; is there any way to get it on the Vista machine?

After weeks of trying, I stumbled on the solution:
    # Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip, select Customize... and the Customize Toolbar window will open.
    # At the bottom of the Customize Toolbar window, there are additional options for changing the appearance of the icons in your toolbars. From the Show drop-down menu, you can choose what to display in the toolbars — Icons, Text, or Icons and Text together. By default, Firefox just shows Icons.
    # Select Icons and Text
    # When you are finished making changes, click Done to close the Customize Toolbar window.

  • Tab bar icons are not loading. (bookmarks bar icons ARE)

In the last week (or so, I don't know exactly when this started happening) the icons on my tab bar started first of all, not refreshing - if I loaded a site onto a tab that had previously been showing a favicon the new icon wouldn't load - and then not loading at all.
I have a desktop PC and a laptop, both running Windows 7, both were running Firefox 4 but I've just upgraded the laptop to 5 to see if that fixed the problem. it didn't. I've tried Check Places, deleted places.sqlite - places.sqlite-journal wasn't there so I couldn't delete that; checked browser.chrome.favicons;true
    browser.chrome.image_icons.max_size;1024
    browser.chrome.site_icons;true
    which were all OK.

Firefox Help already had an answer for me - should have looked better: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#w_icons-missing-in-the-bookmarks-menu
IT WORKS PERFECTLY NOW!!! THANK YOU!

  • Does navigation/tab bar support multi-color icons? or only monochrome icons?

    Hi,
I am building an app where, when i set the navigation/tab bar icon to a multi-colored image, it gives a blue tile and not the image. Is monochrome image a necessity for the icons of navigation/tab bar?

No.  You can have colour images with no problems.  I'm guessing that there's something wrong with your image format.
You will get better responses to your question if you post in the programmer fora on developer.apple.com rather than the user fora here.

  • [iphone] Custom Icons in Tab Bars - Not Working

I'm trying to use my own icons on the Tab Bar because the Standard Icons do not fit with what what my menus display.
I've tried saving them as 30x30 black and white .png files, but for some reason the simulator and the device display the icon as a blue square. They will not show the .png.
I've also tried saving it as a .jpg and no dice. Anyone have insight as to why this is?

Here is a procedure that I used to create the tab icons using Photoshop. I am not a photoshop expert in any way so if there may be a shorter approach. The qist is to create a grayscale image with a mask layer, no background and export to png with transparency. After scouring the net for tips and suggestions, I gathered some pointers on twitter and iphone sdk message boards and narrowed down this procedure. So all credit to the original authors! Sorry - I did not keep track of them.
1 You need to create a single layer grayscale image and not worry about how the tab is displayed when it is active (blue background) and gray (inactive). That's handled in the SDK.
Create a grayscale image and save it s jpeg or gif. Delete the background completely
    2. Open this image and select all and copy the image to your clipboard. Ensure that you can view the layers/channels/paths window (in Photoshop go to the WINDOW menu and check layers).
    3. In the layers/channels window, you will see the layer labeled as "background"
(notice the lock icon on the right extreme)
    4. Convert this "background" to a mask layer - double click on the lock icon.
A new layer window will pop up. click ok.
    5. select the channels tab, and add an alpha channel by clicking on the small icon on the lower border of the layer/channels window -looks like circle within a rectangle. (it should say "save selection as channel" when you "mouseover" this icon. This message will not be displayed if you have not copied your original image to the clipboard.
    6. You should now see two channels listed (Gray and Alpha).
    7. Select the Alpha channel and paste from clipboard
    8. ensure that both channels are selected for display and Invert the image -- will change colors - reddish tinge
    9. Save for web devices, select transparency and png format and save
You can now drag this ping into xcode!

  • How does Apple get their tab bar icons so sharp?

Looking at the iTunes app on my iP4, the tab bar icon's are extremely sharp.  Anyone know how those might be done?
Most doc's on the subject say that we should use (approximately) 30x30 pixel's at about 72 dpi.  I do that and my icon's end up looking very jagged.
There must be more to this to get the razor sharp icon's Apple produces.
I have used Photoshop and am currently using Inkscape, but both produce similar jagged results.
Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I found a tut on using Omnigraffle ($99) to create sharp tab bar icons but thankfully I did not take the plunge because the results are no better that what I am currently gettting using Inkscape.  Photoshop is not any better, but in truth, I have not even looked into anti-aliasing in that app.
I've never heard of Fireworks, but I'll take a look at it.
These are my results using Inkscape, but I think they could be much better.  Grab is from a 320x460 png.
Thanks for your comments.  I appreicate the help.

  • Odd icon or symbol is displayed in the tab bar.

In FF 4, I have a weird little symbol (like a blue 'Q' with a long straight tail) that shows up in the tab bar. If I open enough tabs, it is right at the break between the third and fourth tab.It is definitely coming from FF, as it follows the window if I drag it around. Closing and relaunching FF will sometimes removes it, but it comes back. I can't click it or select it and I can't tie its appearance to any particular site or other app open at the same time.

    Hi AJ,
    Thanks for the link.
None of the solutions mentioned in it could solve the issue.
The issue is indeed in IE7 and IE8.
Problem : I cannt tell my user not to USE IEs.
    My Requirement.
I want to redirect to the same page on click of button B.(when A is disabled and then B remains enabled)
    A) I tried using ResetButton also but this issue still remains.
    B) I got it done using a Link type item but user wants it as a Button.
More over the link doesnot always gives me the desired result or (rather soemtimes gives me stale data as well)
    Thanks,

  • Icon background in the Tab Bar

I have placed a 'Close All Tabs' button in the Tab Bar.
I'd like it to have the same background as the default 'New Tab' gray tab-shaped background.
Do I have to change the following code in the xul file?
    toolbarpalette id="BrowserToolbarPalette"
    class="toolbarbutton-1"
    Thank you.

''My question is not specific to a certain button. If you drag any button from the Toolbar to the Tab Bar, you could see the difference between the 'New Tab' and that button.''
I see, yes, other buttons do not have the appearance of being a tab. When the new tab button is the first button after the tabs, it is moved into the tabs. I don't think there is a simple way to do this with other buttons. I won't rule out a complicated way to do it. :-)

  • Can't open new tabs with double left click on tab bar in FF29.0.1?

I've always enjoyed how tabs work in FF, mainly with them being on the bottom (which I had to find a work-around for by making the userChrome.css file - the "about:config" modification no longer works) and also being able to double left click on the tab bar to create new tabs.
With the most recent update, double left clicking on the tab bar no longer has a function, and to create new tabs, I must now middle click. It's not a big deal really, but is there a way to change this back?
I searched through some options on the "about:config" page, searched "tab" and found an option there: "browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick" that seemed promising. I changed the value to "False" but it didn't change anything - in fact, middle clicking still creates new tabs.
I tried adding a modified function with "leftclick" in it, just to see if it might do anything but, nothing.
Any other suggestions for restoring the double left click function to create new tabs? Thanks!

    ''Hydrilus wrote:''
    browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick
If set to false, middle-clicking <u>links on web pages</u> opens them in a new window. It probably also affects bookmarks, history entries, and items in the address bar drop-down menu.

You need an add-on. Here are two I know about:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer]. In the add-on's option window, click the Special tab and check "Tabs toolbar: double click opens a new tab"
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/ Tab Mix Plus]. In the add-on's option window, click the Mouse icon, then the Mouse Clicking tab, then the Double-click tab below that. • Updates Ignore Previous Tab-Bar Settings

For the last few recent updates, Firefox resets the position of the Tab-Bar to the top. Each time, I struggle to find the setting to restore it to where I've had it since Firefox was born, but usually get there.
However, after the last update, with tabs on top AGAIN, I checked the setting "browser.tabs.onTop", and it is still set to False. However, the tabs ARE on the top. Personally, I think this is a 'bug'.
And what version am I using? The 'latest', as of May 12, 2014. As I also haven't found an easy way to check the version of Firefox, that's all I can say.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

You can use any of the following add-ons.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tabs-on-bottom/
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
If you don't want to install an add-on, put the following style in the ''userChrome.css'' file and restart Firefox. You can use [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/ the Stylish add-on] instead, if you have it installed.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css
    <pre><nowiki>@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
/* The above line should appear only once in the file */
    #TabsToolbar { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 99 !important }</nowiki></pre>
To check what version you're using, click the ≡ Menu Button, then the Question Mark icon in the lower right, then About Firefox. You can also press Alt+H to open the Help menu, then either press A or click the About Firefox menu item.

  • On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?

On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?
In my current Firefox, the "new tab" icon/item from the "customize" pop-up window menu of items is placed next to my home, back, forward buttons near the top-left of my header (Button 1 for "new tab"). Then, the tab bar automatically come with a small tab (with a + sign) to the right of your last tab opened (so you click on + and a new tab opens. Button 2 for "new tab"). I like to have this "new tab" button twice (as a + mini tab, and next to my "home icon".
When I upgraded to Firefox 4, I seemed to be only able to "customize" or use the "new tab" in one place. Either as an icon next to home button, or as a "+ minitab", but NOT both.
What can I do to put this button in Firefox 4 on BOTH places???
Your help is really appreciated. I want to upgrade, but I want my buttons on both places...
I upgraded to FF 4, but downgraded again just because this feature... that's just me of coarse :-)

  • More than 5 tabs in tab bar controller

    Hi,
I'm totally at a lost trying to get 6 tabs connected to my tab bar controller, which was created using the tab bar controller template.  Everything thing works fine with 5 view controllers.  When I add a 6th view controller I get the "More" tab in the 5th position, which when touched opens up a table view showing 2 more tabs for the user to choose from.  Touching either row in this table view causes the app to crash.  The error reads:

Open Xcode, then click on 'Window', click on 'Organizer'.
Then click on the Documentation icon.
    Seach for 'viewcontroller'.
Read and study the documentation for the various flavors of viewcontrollers.
Then try applying some of your newfound knowledge your code and see what happens.
I've found that trying a few ideas based on what I've read about is the best way to learn.  Be prepared to make lots and lots of mistakes;  You'll learn something from each one.
Above all, be patient.  This technology can't be learned in a day or a week or even a month.  It may take months before you have that 'aha!' moment.  Once you do, it will start making sense.

  • Tab bar has disappeared from view and from list of toolbars. How can I get it back?

I was fooling around with the toolbar options, trying (unsuccessfully!) to return to the toolbar layout I had before Firefox was automatically upgraded (without my permission!). I was trying to move the tabs bar down below the other toolbars. Suddenly it disappeared. Various web-suggested fixes involved going into Preferences or Options and doing things. I can't find anything called Preferences, and the option suggested for tabs (show tab bar) in Options doesn't exist in my options. I am very unhappy, not just because I can't find the tab bar, but because the new version messed up how I had my toolbars organized, and there seems to be no option for fixing it.

What method did you use to move the Tab bar?
Did you create a userChrome.css file in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder?
