[ID CC] Is there a specific scripting guide for CC?

Hi,
I was looking for the scripting guide (both applescript and Javascript) for ID CC, but all I see is the CS6 version. Is that normal? I know there isn't that much new between the two version, but it would be nice to have the updated guides.
Also, I had heard that the Applescript language was going to be fased out. Meaning, no new feature would be supported and things that changed would break current code in future version of the software. Is there any thruth in this? I'm a fairly novice applescripter and I can't even read Javascript, so I was wondering if I need to try to learn Javascript ASAP or if I'll be able to go by with my applescript.
Thanks for any input.
Jeff

@Jeff – don't know if there is a specific scripting guide for InDesign CC.
For news of new methods, properties and objects in the DOM (Document Object Model) in ExtendScript (Adobe's implementation of JavaScript) with InDesign see:
Marc Autret:
So What's New in InDesign CC Scripting DOM
http://www.indiscripts.com/post/2013/06/so-what-s-new-in-indesign-cc-scripting-dom
Another valuable reference (not covering CC but also InDesign CS6) is:
http://www.jongware.com/idjshelp.html
For learning ExtendScript you will find useful:
1. Learn about "core" JavaScript (there are plenty of useful courses floating around in the web)
2. Buy yourself a book like Grant Gamble's "InDesign CS5 – Automation Using XML & JavaScript"
and experiment with your own InDesign files and code snippets from that base on…
3. Find a collegue or some friends who also want to learn about it and do some learning sessions together
4. Visit this forum a lot and browse through older threads. Most threads are about ExtendScript.
Where did you hear that Adobe wants to phase out AppleScript on its products?
Flash based extensions and related to that "ActionScript" will be phased out next year for building Extensions for CC applications. It will be replaced with [HTML5, CSS and JavaScript] for building widgets. PhotoShop CC will be the first product where we will see this (maybe around mid 2014); others will follow.
Maybe you read about the abbreviation "AS" in this regard; which for some people is "AppleScript" and for some people it is "ActionScript". Don't confuse the two scripting languages.

  • AME-specific scripting guide

Hi, I see plenty of references in this forum to people scripting AME, but I can't find the promised doc for the AME-specific subset of Extend Script anywhere.
In the "Adobe Introduction to Scripting" pdf, in the section "More information about scripting", we are told:
"Each scripting language contains many more devices and techniques for adding power and complexity to
your scripts. To continue learning how to script your Adobe applications, please refer to the Adobe
    scripting guide for your application."
    Is there any such documentation?
If not, how do folk on this list work this out?
    Many thanks
    Peter

  • Will the standard iPad case fit the the iPad Air or is there a specific type case for the iPad Air?

Will the standard iPad case fit the the iPad Air or is there a specific type case for the iPad Air?

The air is different dimensions from other iPads, so look for cases made specifically for it. I know that Targus has some, so does Zagg and i'm sure other manufacturers do as well.

Is there any specific VPN application for i phone ?

Settings//General/VPN. Then all you need is to find a public VPN server. You don't need a separate app.
But you should keep in mind that your employer doesn't want you using social media. In most companies bypassing corporate information security policy is grounds for termination. Do you really want to risk it?

  • How do you install windows 8.1 on a macbook pro? And do i buy the windows 8.1 package from windows or is there a specific one designed for a mac?

I have ordered a new macbook retina pro with 256gb hardrive, i7 processor and 16gb ram. It still hasnt arrived become im ordering it overseas however when it arrives i want to download windows 8.1 on it and i need some help please!

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Benchmarks of all of the above except Crossover can be found in Benchmarking Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox Against Boot Camp - The Mac Observer. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Is there a 'Transferring music' guide for idiots?  Please help

Please Help!!!  Two problems... 1) Bought a new PC, wanted to transfer music from old PC to new PC.  Wasn't sure how to do it, so I copied library onto a memory stick (just by copying and pasting) and downloaded to new PC.  Had to do it in sections b/c it all wouldn't fit on one transfer.  (Try to stop laughing, I know that probably wasn't the correct way to do it)  : )  Anyway, I authorized the new computer, and was able to listen to anything I purchased from ITunes on the old computer, but not any of the music I downloaded from CD's.  It gives me an error that says can't locate file, blah blah.  Where should I go from here?  Start from the beginning?  Go back and try to redo each song that did not come over correctly?  I'm an idiot, I know, please help.
Problem #2 - I just downloaded new version on new computer and the majority of all songs now have the exclamation point next to them and when I try to listen, it says can't locate file.  : /  Please say this is not a lost cause!!!

    Figured it out...nevermind.

  • Adobe Premiere Scripting Guide

Hello, I have to write some scripts for Premiere. It will import, cut and set rendering. I can do it in after effects, because there is Adobe After Effects Scripting Guide for CS6.pdf , but I cant find anything similar for Premiere But scripting in premiere is possible. I can find some commands in Data Browser in ExtendScript Toolkit editor, but I dont know how can I use it. (Import, edit etc.) Is for Premiere any scripting manual ? If not, why? Scripting in Premiere is not official supported? Thanks.

yeah it took me half a day to find out that all the stuff is in the data browser
so that's what i found out yesterday:
you can add an array of files like this:
    var myFiles = ["C:\\'theFilePath'\\File.mov", "C:\\'theFilePath'\\File2.mov", ...];
    app.project.importFiles(myFiles);
and all files will be added to the project browser.
also you can add a sequence to the project like this:
    app.project.createNewSequence("nameOfTheSequence","xxx");
I don't know which param I had to choose for the "xxx", but it works if you set it empty.
I'm currently looking for adding the files to the sequence, but I have to try some stuff till i find it out.
Let me know if you find out something new

  • Is there a script available for arranging elements for optimal use of the printable area?

I'm starting a sticker printing business using Illustrator as my main layout and illustration too. I was wondering if there's a script available for automatically arranging a set of elements on a page so that they optimally take up the available space. I figured this would save me some on material costs.
If I were to create a script from scratch, can someone give me pointers? I'm a casual AI user but I have Javascript experience.
    Thanks.

The below image shows the 4 different die sizes, the artwork fits inside the dotted box so make sure that we have room around the die and the drill holes are assigned as well.
The name of each die is listed above it, and the size is listed below it.
The script is set to take each die and place it on the template until it is full, then it will save it and move it to the folder where it will be grabbed and preped for printing.
Everything below the **** is the script.

Hope this helps someone get one created because if they can make one that doesn't depend on the premade dies that would help me out quite a bit because some of the dies that we make are an odd size so we have to place them manually.

  • Best practice guide for Batch Load utility in Oracle UCM.

    Hi,
Is there any best practice guide for Oracle UCM Batch Loader utility.
We are looking for information regarding batch size in terms of number and size of contents. Also is there any loading time standards considering the contents are uploaded in filesystem where filestore provider is configured?
    Thanks,
    Krishnendu

    Hi ,
There are no specific set of steps / practices for batch loading contents to ucm . It would be very much dependent on how many contents does the user have to load to UCM and how well the server is configured in terms of performance .
You can get more details from the following documentation link : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/doc.1111/e10792/c02_settings009.htm
    Thanks,

  • Scripting Reference for ID CS5 available?

I am searching for a PDF (or such) with a complete listing of all properties, classes etc. of InDesign Objects. Scripting Language: Applescript
The "latest" Reference I found was for CS2. Doesn't Adobe make these Reference manuals any longer?
There is a Scripting Guide available (InDesignCS5_ScriptingGuide_AS.pdf) but that does not cover all, as far as I can tell.
A reference manual for JS would also be welcome.
    regards, Birgit

  • Specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO

    Hello,
Is there any specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO.
    Request you to reply.
    Thanks
    Prashanth

    Hi Prashanth,
sorry for last thread ... that not contain full information ...
For message type LOIPRO you can use process code APLI.
In IDOC PARTNER definition, the partner is linked with an IDOC TYPE and PROCESS CODE for inbound processing. This process code is in turn linked with a FUNCTION MODULE to process the IDoc such as IDOC_INPUT_INVOIC_MRM (Reff..  http://searchsap.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid21_cid519558,00.html)
