Identify and delete duplicates
What´s the easiest way to identify and delete duplicate pictures in the iphoto library?
(And no - doing it manually is not an option! )
For dealing with duplicates in iPhoto check out Duplicate Annihilator

How can I identify and delete duplicate photos
is there a way to identify and delete duplicate photo's in I photo?
No one is suggesting that you download third party "crap". What was suggested is that you download a well established and supported 3rd party application. As to why there isn't a "'delete your stupid duplicate photo' option", you'll need to ask Apple that. Apple aren't here. This forum is for Users to help other Users. As to why you import stupid photos, you'll need to ask yourself.

How can I identify and delete duplicates on the latest version of itunes?
How can I identify and delete duplicates on the lastest version of iTunes?
The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

There really is no easier way than to use Duplicate Annihilator. It costs about $8.00 but will save you lots of time.

I understand that i can manually delete duplicates one by one. Is there a way to automate the process? I have an extensive library that is full of duplicates.
The problem you may face with pursuing automated approaches is that the dupicate check occurs on the basis of song title alone. Automating the removal would have it choosing between different versions of the same song - when you may actually want both since they aren't true duplicates.
Examples:
One is "unplugged" and the other is electric
One is the studio version and the other is live
One is the original version and the other is remastered
One approach to delte multiple ones is to change the sort to being a manner that makes true duplicates more evident. (Album by artist, or date, date added, or whatever makes sense for your library.)
Then you could paint multiple ones and delete them at once. (Select the first one, hold the shift key, then select the last one that you want to delete. Then press the delete or backspace key)
You will likely have to do this more than once, but it should/may reduce the amount of manual actions while avoiding the concern of songs misperceived as duplicate being deleted. -
How to identify and delete duplicate records??
Hi Experts,
I'm new to Datawarehousing and ETL. Currently the company is using the siebel 6 that houses the data for all line of business and cognos is used for report development.
Now they are doing siebel 6 to siebel 8 migration.
One time data load will be done from siebel 6 to siebel 8.Only 60% of the data will be used from Siebel 8 for reporting. rest of the report will still be generated from siebel 6.
Daily sync between siebel 6 and siebel 8 may not occur on daily basis which will compel the need to continue with existing siebel 6 to staging area ETL .Data from siebel 6 to staging area will come using ETL process.
New informatica ETL's will be build to extract data from siebel 8 to staging area.If above is the case then there will be duplicity in the data in staging area coz data is coming from both siebel 6 and siebel 8.
How to remove the duplicity in staging area??
Thanks in AdvanceHi,
Are the loads from Siebel 6 -> DW and the load from Siebel 8 -> DW happening in seperate execution plans or in the same execution plans?
I would think that the easiest way to handle this would be to load the Siebel 8 data into the staging table first (as I assume for recored in both 8 and 6, 8 would be the master), and then when loading records from 6 into the staging table just do a lookup against the INTEGRATION_ID of the rows already in the staging table, if the rows are already there then don't add them.
Of course this is going to slow down the SDE stage and sounds like a lot of hassle, another option is to make sure that the Siebel 6 and Siebel 8 source are defined as seperate datasources i.e Siebel 6 = 1 and Siebel 8 = 2, that way always load Siebel 8 data first and then when loading the siebel 6 data don't update the record if it was last updated by datasource 2, this will mean data from Siebel 8 will never be overwritten by data from Siebel 6.

Organizing and deleting Duplicate Photos in iPhoto library?
Can I easily organize and delete duplicate photos in my iPhoto library?
These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported the library.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find duplicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
PhotoDedupo - $4.99 (App Store) - this app has a "similar" search feature which is like PhotoSweeper's bitmap comparison. It found all duplicates
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free - was able to recognize the duplicated HDR and normal files from an iPhone shooting in HDR
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: iphoto has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates: PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto. None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates. IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto. -
Anyone know how to detect and delete duplicate photo files that exist in the Pictures folder in the Finder that are also in the iPhoto library?
There's no way to compare the photos in the library with those outside the library. However, as long as you're running a "managed" library
You can import batches of the photos, i.e by folder, into the library. If the photo is already in the library you will be given this notice:
Check that checkbox and clik on the Don't Import button. When that folder is finished importing (or not) delete it and go to the next.
If you need to check for duplicates in the library you can use one of these applications to identify and remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported into another.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find dupicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.

I have about 88,000 songs in my music library, some are duplicates. Does anyone know of any Apple Product or 3rd party software that will identify and remove duplicates.
Backup your music to an external source before doing this, just in case you delete the originals by accident.
iTunes will show you the duplicates. But I recommend tagging their comments or another field once selecting them to ensure you don't accidentally delete both the original and duplicate. You can always select all of them and change all their comment tags at once. Once you've done that, stop showing duplications, and then sort by the comment field. This will allow you to determine whether only the duplicates were shown in the show duplicates, or the originals. If you see any without comments, then you can go ahead and delete the duplicates. -
Is there a way to automatically detect and delete duplicate photos in a library
I just imported a load of photos into my main iPhoto '11 Library from several older MAC's Photo Libraries. Despite repeatedly using the "Don't Import Duplicate Photos" dialogue box, I have many duplicate photos. Is there a way to automatically detect and delete Duplicate Photos?
I also have iPhoto Library Manager installed on my MAC, but cannot seem to locate on it anything that would do this.
I have over 4,000 photos, so would really appreciate some help here! Thanks in advance...duplicate annihilator - http://www.brattoo.com/propaganda/
And NEVER import an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library - doing so des not work and creates massive duplication
if you still have all of the original iPhoto libraries I recommend you drag the bad one you created to the desktop (delete it later when everythin has successfully been completed) and start over usin iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to merge the libraries
