Identifying statement which throws error

Hi Experts,
I have an ad-hoc query having multiple DML statements. Is is possible to get the command or say statement which throws error using try .. catch block?

first, I try remove the blank lines at those two places ( before curr_stats and after on) and it works.
then, again I try to set sqlblanklines on, and it works as well!

Universe created on BI cube throws error.

Hi Experts,
This is the first time i have created one universe based on a Cube in BI system. After universe creation, I am logined into WebIntelligence Rich Client and create a query on top of the created universe which throws errors like below.
A database error occured. The database error text is: The supplied XML is not valid. <CONSTANT>. (WIS 10901)
I tried with many combinations, but, in result sometimes with blank report and sometimes throwing above error.
Cany anyone suggest me what is the solution for this ?

Hi Suresh,
The reason here is some thing has bean changed at SAP BI Cube after creation of Universe in Business Objects.
Solution for this is " Refresh the universe structure " and then save it and export and try create reports. If it is not the reason give some more clarity on your error.

Throwing error message for a component

I have a form in which there are several fields. One of field is LOV for which i do some validation on valuechangeListener. If that validation fails, i send error to the form for that particular field. It is working fine. but after this if user submits the form, it is submitted. In case of validation failed by framewrok, it is not submitted. HOw i can set that component in error state so that form is not submitted. I am using following code to throw error or component:

actually you are not throwing an error but set a message to display to the user. Can't you just create a validation for the input field. The field has a property for you to define a managed bean validation reference. You can generate the method skeleton from JDeveloper.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

If there r MULTIPLE entries of different in my_itab, throw ERROR??

Am filling the my_itab(which does hv 1 filed of Order), by doing some processing.
Always, the Order # shuld b the same.
If in any case, there r multiple Orders in this itab of DIFFERENT, I need throw ERROR message.
So, instead of looping the itab, checking each entry explicitly, Is there any Statement, Clause, sytax?

Declare another varialbe of the Order type and assign the value to it.
w_order = itab-order.
Loop itab where itab-order = w_order.
if w_order eq itab-order.

Help req for check customer table maintenance with XD02 if not throw error

check customer of the table maintenance with XD02 if not throw error i have given the codition for passing the values in the table but before that it has to check whether the customer i am passing in to the table is a customer from xd02.Here whatever no i am passing it is accepting it should not happen, but when i give the customer which is not a customer it should not accept but it has to throw the message as 'customer does not exist.Its urgent please help me

I have used the following code to enter the data into the table maintenance it is working fine and throwing the error when the tax type is not the one which i have given in the select statements but the problem is when i have given the customer no which is not there in the XD02 tcode, it is accepting and showing the error message as MESSAGE E000(E4) WITH 'Please change the tax classification of ZCST as' '1' ', in Sales Area Data'. now i have to check the customer no from XD02 and if it is existing in that tcode it should allow to save in the table maintenance otherwise throw a message as the 'Customer no does not exist, this I am unable to write so how can i check please help me .

Though, this should work, the use of RTTI as Uwe suggested would be best practise approach as far as dynamic programming is concerned. Anyhow it is still up to you which one you pick.

I noticed now that this line is not necessary
modify table <style_tab> from <style_wa>.
as we simply are working with field symbols, so changes made to <style_wa> are already visible in that table <style_tab>.

SSRS dataset throws error when another stored procedure is called inside dataset stored procedure

I am using Report Build 3.0, I have a simple report which gets data using dataset which is created from a Stored Procedure. I have another stored procedure which updates the data in the table which is used for the report. I want to get the live data on report everytime
the report is run so that I call that stored procedure (sp_updatedata) inside my report dataset stored procedure and here where my report fails as it throws error while creating dataset.
Here is sample:
sp_updatedata (this only returns "Command(s) completed successfully"
Create Proce sp_getReportData

Exec sp_updatedata -- I call it to update the data before it displays on the report
Select * from customers

If I remove this line it works.

According to your description, you create a dataset based on a stored procedure. In this procedure, it calls another procedure. Now it throws error when creating dataset. Right?
In Reporting Services, when creating dataset, all the query or stored procedure will be executed in SSMS. So if the procedure can be executed in SSMS, it supposed to be working in SSRS. However, it has a limitation in SSRS. In a dataset, it can only return
one result set.
In this scenario, I don't think it's the issue of calling other procedure inside of procedure. Because we tested in our local environment, it works fine. I guess the sp_updatedata returns a result set, and the "select * from customers" returns
another result set. This might be the reason cause the error.

All of the above works fine using command-line sql*plus, and is clearly a simplified version of the actual code to demonstrate the issue at hand. Using JDeveloper, it complains about 'expected ;' at the 'values' keyword in the insert statement. Removing the schema qualification from the table name allows JDeveloper to not flag the statement as an error, but I do not want to create synonyms (private or public) to point to all the tables in the real packages. Since JDeveloper flags the insert statement as an error, I can not browse the package structure etc, even though it compiles with no problems. What gives?

Script throwing error" Object required: 'API'

We need help in one issue. We have following script which is running fine when we ran it from script editor, but when use this as expression in import format is throwing error
Error: An error occurred importing the file.
Detail: Object required: 'API'
At line: 12
Script:

We have created few other Scripts which are running fine and producing required result when we check them with MsgBox. But when we are using these scripts in import format it is saying: Object required: 'API'
IF I can not use API object in import script, how can I process multiple column with one script. We need to derive three-four column based on one input column and we don't want to write separate import script for each column. How and where we can write this script?
Are we missing any step? Any help will be highly appreciated. Looks I asked long question :)

OK. In requirment we have three-four column based on these column we need to derive few other column. We want to do spilitting and validation in Import itself. This is mainly a Validation requirment.
There is one column which may have 12,13,14,17 or any other number of character in it. first three will represent one dimension but exact value be a mapped result based on these three digits.
There are many validation based on the number on charaters and most importantly we don't want to process other column is validation get failed at any stage.
Do we have anything like Import Action? Probably we want to change that script. Or if we can write something like integration script. We need every column to be processed in one shot.
I don't think it is self explantry. Can we have your email please?

Why Webdynpro framework is throwing error in this testcase

Hi All,
In my requirement i'm using the WTGXXX(for Discount field) in Webdynpro ABAP.
If I validate the entries there is a standard check performed by the webdynpro framework when entries other than the numercie fields are given.
This is a webdypro ALV.
For Ex:
when the discount is given as (9-33) it is throwing the error that "The entered value can only contain numerical characters" but it is not throwing any error for (9-(9/22)) or (9-(42)) instead it is calculating the values which is a good feature. But why, (9-33) this case is not handled.
I tried to keep the value in duegging it is working fine.
Before any event gets trigerred for the above cases the value is calculated by the framweork by defalut.
Some times some cases are handled sometimes not.
I'm unable to get this behavior of the framework.
For the first time (9-3*3) calcuation is throwing error from the 2nd time onwards this is giving the correct output. When I load the view for the first time and do this check then error is thrown, second time when the other calcuations are done and again do this calcaulation then this error is not shown instaead it is giving me 0 which is the result.
This case applies to the cases where the expressions result in 0 (defalut values)
One mroe test case for this is - (9-9).
Eventhough the user knows the result of these expresions, these are throwing errors.
How to handle this.
I tired handling this with own DE/Domanin CURR 15 but for the 1st time this error is theon 2nd time on wards the reuslt is shown correct.
Isn't a special case.
When I bound the table again with INITIAL data then again the erorr is thrown for that case.
ie I have one RESET button where i will bind the table again with the INITIAL table entries then agian the error is thrown for (9-3*3).
Is there any SAPNOTE applied or Exceptions to this. Please let me know.
Please replicate the same in Webdynpro Java also and share the reasons.
Currently I'm doing this by taking the string only to avoid these erorrs in case of Zero.

Throwing error ORA- 01031 while connecting as sys, but not with system

Hi
we are having oracle 10g on one of the server. When I try to connect sqlplus "/as sysdba"..its throwing error
ORA- 01031: Insufficient privelege.
But when I tried login with sqlplus system@dbname its getting connected properly. whats the reason behind this? It was
working fine till yesterday.

Your equation of SYS as SYSDBA and the SYSTEM account is also incorrect, as SYSTEM doesn't have SYSDBA privileges.
The ORA-1031 simply means someone somehow disabled OS authentication.
Now it is up to you to find out why.
Either by using online resources, or by reading documentation, and researching your own database.
Not by asking a FAQ and never marking any answer as correct.

SL500 throws error 1804 (unauth. WAN card), impossible to boot

Just as a note upfront: I'm aware of similar threads like for example SL300 throws error 1804 (unauth. WAN card), impossible to boot. So here is my posting:
I get the 1804 error during boot. I can not enter BIOS any longer. Yesterday I could boot one time despite the fatal error message that says it halts the system (and it does normally), I somehow managed to get into the BIOS anyway, changed some settings and the could boot into the OS. Unfortunately today this does not seem possible any longer.
I tried to remove the WAN card to boot again but one of the two screws is wasted and I can not remove it. The other went out with no problems. So right now, the card is stuck inside and I can not remove it.
I also tried to disconnect the CMOS backup battery, but this did not help.
So I need help from someone with actual technical expertise to circumvent that fatal error on boot time. I know that normal IBM/Lenovo support personal can reset the bios, change the serial number etc. So I assume some tools and key-kombinations exist so that I can still boot this laptop.
As written, yesterday already I could boot that laptop even that error comes all the time. But I don't know how I managed that.
The only way I can imagine right now is to physically break up the WAN card so that it can removed in parts and the edge with the screw in can stay in while the card is destructed and therefore could be disconnected from the slot. However doing that, there is high risk to destroy more of that computer which I would like to prevent.
Any help is greatly appreceated. The WAN card was not in use. I have no clue why that problem pops up after years of use of that devide without any changes.

If you can enter BIOS again, go to Security > I/O Port Access > WWAN and set it to Disabled.
As for the screw/card, I had the exact same experience with an X61's WLAN card. It's far harder to rip apart the card than it is to drill through the screw head. (I ended up trying to snap the card before drilling, so...)

Dialog box throws error "This content cannot be displayed in a frame"

I have disconnected a SP2010 db and re-connected to a new SP2013 farm. The visual upgrade is not yet done and decided to continue with sp2010 UI for now. In SP2013, I get the following error when I click "Add new item" in a list and "New
user" in a SP Group. Any dialog simply throws error.
This content cannot be displayed in a frame.

I have also added "<WebPartPages:AllowFraming runat="server" />" and <meta http-equiv="X-Frame-Options" content="allow">
to the master page but no luck.

This error is generally specific to Internet Explorer and has two possible causes. The most likely explanation is that your browser has unusual browser security settings. I would recommend you try
resetting your security settings to defaults (varies by version but all essentially the same). You may also have to turn off
Protected Mode which is enabled by default on some systems. If you’re seeing this error (or a version of it) outside Internet Explorer, you may have a server-level setting that is preventing your content from being framed.

Use of Sub Query in a filter is throwing error

I am using a sub query in a filter which throws me the following error in owb 9i.
PLS 00405 : Subquery cannot be used in this context.
But the use of subquery works fine in a joiner operator.
Use of Sub Query in a filter works fine in owb 2i.
Could any one please help me.

Please wrap the source table in a view containing the subquery and then use the view as a source rather than use the subquery in the filter.
