Identity Constraint in XML Schema

Hi,
I am trying to validate an xml so that the value of one tag<ns0:transid> should be unique. The XML is given below:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:transactions  xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'
   xmlns:ns0='http://xml.netbeans.org/schema/testSchema'
   xsi:schemaLocation='http://xml.netbeans.org/schema/testSchema src\testSchema.xsd'>
       <ns0:transaction>
           <ns0:transid>1</ns0:transid>
           <ns0:name>abc</ns0:name>
       </ns0:transaction>
       <ns0:transaction>
           <ns0:transid>1</ns0:transid>
           <ns0:name>abc</ns0:name>
       </ns0:transaction>
       <ns0:transaction>
           <ns0:transid>3</ns0:transid>
           <ns0:name>abc</ns0:name>
       </ns0:transaction>
</ns0:transactions>The The Scheme is given below
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
            targetNamespace="http://xml.netbeans.org/schema/testSchema"
            xmlns:tns="http://xml.netbeans.org/schema/testSchema"
            elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:element name="transactions">
        <xsd:complexType>
            <xsd:sequence>
                <xsd:element name="transaction" maxOccurs="unbounded">
                    <xsd:complexType>
                        <xsd:sequence>
                            <xsd:element name="transid" type="xsd:int"/>
                            <xsd:element name="name" type="xsd:string"/>
                        </xsd:sequence>
                    </xsd:complexType>

                    </xsd:key>
                </xsd:element>
            </xsd:sequence>
        </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
</xsd:schema>The validation code is given below:

}You can see that the tag (<ns0:transid>) on which the key constraint is applied have duplicate values but still the xml is validated successfully. It should not be validating successfully, please see where I am wrong!
Many Thanks!
Irfan

my guess is that the "xsd:key" constraint needs to be in the "transactions" element, not the "transaction" element.

  • Using ID constraints in XML Schema

    I've been testing out a schema containing a number of key/keyref constraints for validation with the DOM parser and I've been having problems.
    Specifically, when I've used predicates as in:
    blocklist/block[1],
    blocklist/block[position()=1] or
    blocklist/block[position()=last()]
    the parser hasn't found any nodes.
    Does anybody know anything about this - what type of XPath expressions are allowed in selector and field elements and exactly what predicate syntax is recognised (if any!)?

    My mistake - it was a namespace problem!!
    I'd remembered to use namespace prefixes for the xpath names in the keyrefs but not in the keys!
    Because I was getting different messages from the parser when I was defining the keyrefs with and without the predicates, I got the impression that it was working ok without predicates and that it was a predicate problem.
    Actually, I don't think that the error messages returned from the parser for broken key constraints are very infomative.
    I have three keys and keyrefs defined. If there is a constraint error, the parser doesn't tell you which keyref the error is with, only that there is an error with one of them. Additionally, because the the key and keyref tables are calculated after the rest of the document has been schema verified, the line given as the error line is the current line - ie the last line of document!

  • Loading Oracle Schema into XML Schema format

    Hello,
    I'd like to load the Oracle schema information (tables/views, columns, and constraints) into XML Schema format, then read in the XML Schema information to instantiate objects which will be used to build adhoc/dynamic queries. I have the dynamic query part working, but it was not clear to me how to convert the Oracle schema to XML Schema then XML Schema to custom objects. Does anyone have experience with this or ideas as to how to go about this?
    Thanks,

    Use the Oracle WebRowSet. The WebRowSet interface extends the RowSet interface and is the XML document representation of a RowSet object. A WebRowSet object represents a set of fetched database table rows, including the database metadata, which may be modified without being connected to the database.

  • Creating XML Schema from tables With Constraints

    Greetings,
    I'd have an interesting question. I finally am getting familiar with the various kinds of xml solutions provided by the oracle database, but hey here I have another interesting question I can't seem to get into life. I'm currently generating XML Schemas (XSD) from the tables of my database. Its nice its cool however I'd need to have the table's constraints with the xsd:elements also. And heres my problem, I can't seem to insert the table constrains. I'll show you what I mean:
    <xsd:element name="MESSAGE_TABLE">
      <xsd:complexType>
        <xsd:sequence>
          <xsd:element name="MESSAGE_RECORD">
            <xsd:complexType>
              <xsd:all>
                <xsd:element name="ID" type="xsd:integer" minOccurs="1" />
                <xsd:element name="HEADER">
                  <xsd:simpleType>
                    <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string>
                      <xsd:maxLength value="255" />
                    </xsd:restriction>
                  </xsd:simpleType>
                </xsd:element>
              </xsd:all>
            </xsd:complexType>
          </xsd:element>
        </xsd:sequence>
      </xsd:complexType>
      <!-- I'd need some more things here like... -->
      <!-- Primary key(s) -->
      <xsd:key name="PK_ID_PRIM">
        <xsd:selector xpath="." />
        <xsd:field xpath="ID" />
      </xsd:key>
      <!-- Foreign key(s) -->
      <xsd:keyref name="FK_HEADER_FOREIGN" refer="PK_HEADER_ID">
        <xsd:selector xpath="HEADER" />
        <xsd:field xpath="ID" />
      </xsd:keyref>
      <!-- Unique constraint(s) -->
      <xsd:unique name="UQ_..." ... />
      </xsd:unique>
    </xsd:element>That would fit my business needs, however I may be so blind that I can't see the forest from the tree. Currently I got so far that:
              xmlElement
                  "xsd:schema",
                  xmlAttributes
                      'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema'      as "xmlns:xsd"

                    xmlElement
                      "xsd:Key",
                )As you can see this won't be good since I have put a single xml element in there. I guess I'd need something more like an xmlAgg(CONSTRAINTS), however in that case I'm wondering how will the select's FROM part look like.

    Thanks for that, answer. That helped me a lot managing primary constraints. However I still have problems managing foreign keys. I come up with the following formula:

  • Indices and constraints on XML Tables/Columns (with Schema)

    Hi,
    I've read a lot of documents by know, but the more I read the more I got confused. So I hope you can help me.
    Frist my Oracle Server Version: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit
    I've manages to create a table with a column with the type SYS.XMLTYPE and the storage modle "Object Relational" with an XML Schema.
    I can insert data and I can execute XQuery statements.
    I can also create an XMLTYPE table with my Schema, althoug the tool SQL Developer keeps telling me, that the one column wich is generated within the table is of the type CLOB instead of object realtional (which is what I defined).
    The query for that is:
    CREATE TABLE ENTRY_XML OF XMLTYPE
    XMLTYPE STORE AS OBJECT RELATIONAL
    XMLSCHEMA "BBMRI_Entry.xsd" ELEMENT "Entry";
    That's where I am, now my questions:
    1. What's the difference? I'm aware of the obviouse difference, that with the first way I can add relational columns as well, but apart from that? If I only want to store the xml data, is the second approach always better (especially in regard to my next question)?
    2. My schema contains elements with attributes (which contain IDs), which have to be unique. So I tried to add a UNIQUE constraint, but failed. I found this (http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/xmldb/constraints/Specify_Constraints.html), but it just doesn't work.
    Query: "ALTER TABLE ENTRY_XML CONSTRAINT ENTRY_XML_SUBID_UNQIUE UNIQUE (xmldata."SubId");"
    Error: "ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option"
    3. I didn't try yet, but I need to specifiy foreign keys within the XML as well (which is explained in the link at question 2). I guess the solution to question 2 will make this possible as well.
    4. Since I can create a UNIQUE constaint for attributes (well, I can't yet, but I hope that this will change soon) I woundered if it would be possible to realize something like auto_increment. Although I see the problem with validating the xml input if the Ids are empty. Any suggestions on that problem? Do I have to query for the highest (free) id before I can insert the new documents?
    Well, that's enough for today, I hope someone can help me!
    Greetings, Florian

    I've read through all the literature (again) and found out, that I did most of the stuff right in the first place. I just missinterpreted the generated tables for the types and wondered why they only contained one column. Well, at least one mistery solved.
    But know to make it easier just one question, which might solve all problems I have:
    How can I create UNIQUE constraints and FOREIGN KEYS when I have a table or column of the type XmlType with a schema using the object relational storage method?
    I found a solution http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb05sto.htm#i1042421 (Example 5-12), but it just does not work for me.
    I removed the FOREIGN KEY and tried it again and the UNIQUE Key works.
    So basically the question is how to retrieve the "AId" Attribute. "XMLDATA"."AId", "XMLDATA"."Attribute"."AId" and "XMLDATA"."Subject"."Attribute"."AId" all do not work.
    I've added my schema declarations at the bottom (which I've already successfully registred and used without foreign keys and constraints, so they work).
    After I've registered the two schema files 3 types and 11 tables where created. One type for the attribute, one for the study type and one probably to link the attributes to the study types. The tables are one for the attribute, 4 for the content*-elements, 2 for the study type (I don't really know why two) and 4 with strange names starting with "SYS_NT" and then some random numbers and letters (looks alot like some base64 encoded string).
    The Query I try to use to create the table is: (The table "Attribute" already exists and contains a field "ID", which is it's PK.)
    CREATE TABLE STUDYTYPE_XML
    OF XMLType (UNIQUE ("XMLDATA"."STId"),
    FOREIGN KEY ("XMLDATA"."AId") REFERENCES ATTRIBUTE(ID))
    XMLTYPE STORE AS OBJECT RELATIONAL
    ELEMENT "StudyType.xsd#StudyType";
    The error I get is:

    CREATE TABLE STUDYTYPE_XML

  • Any workarounds for not supported features of XML Schema

    Hi,

    1. We have lot of xml files in our application server ( size ranges form 2 MB to 200 MB).
    2. We have xml schema based structured storage for a column "personjoininfo" for a relational table --- Table is :
    CREATE TABLE PERSON_COMP_TABLE
    empId VARCHAR2(100) CONSTRAINT pk_PERSONCOMP PRIMARY KEY
    ,comments VARCHAR2(20)
    ,joindate DATE
    ,personjoininfo xmltype
    XMLTYPE COLUMN personjoininfo XMLSCHEMA "www.PersonInfoUrl.com" element "person"
    3. What is the best option for me to load the xml files in the personjoin info column along with the other column values.
    As I know , if I use the XML DIR ( directory feature ), I would need to put these xml files in the database server for loading ---
    So, what are my options in this scenario for loading these xml files ?
    Thanks

  • Unable to locate Spring NamespaceHandler for XML schema namespace

    I am not sure if this is the best practice approach but this is the problem I am ruining into. Below, I explain what I am doing:
    1) What I am doing:
    =============
    Based on the oracle incubator example (http://coherence.oracle.com/display/INCUBATOR/Processing+Pattern+Examples); I am running a server and submitting tasks through a proxy application that submits them to ProcessingPatternConfigurator; let's call my task processReport.
    a) my processReport is using spring and ibatis together, I created a utility static class to obtain a spring context and retrieves beans using the following lines ( see exhibit "A1 and A2" below).
    b) when my task calls the context and that spring loads, it is failing with the error show in exhibit "B".
    I suspect I am missing a lib? I googled the error and searched you site but could find a meaningful discussion on it. I guess my question is if this is not the best approach, how do I integrated with spring initializing beans and setting up ibatis framwork, providing beans and database access through Ibatis for each task ruining on the grid (processReport).
    thanks
    A1) processReport (submitted in the grid) uses this line
    AbstractXmlApplicationContext ctx = (AbstractXmlApplicationContext) AmrContextUtil.getInstance();
              System.out.println("Classpath loaded. Executing Report...");
              ReportProcessor repProcessor = (ReportProcessor) ctx.getBean("reportProcessor");
    A2) Here is the AmrContextUtil:
    import org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext;
    import org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext;
    public final class AmrContextUtil {
         private static AbstractApplicationContext ctx = null;
         public AmrContextUtil() {
              super();
         public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getInstance(){
              if (ctx == null){
                   ctx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("classpath:config/applicationContext.xml");
                   setCtx(ctx);
              return ctx;
         public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getCtx() {
              return ctx;
         public final static synchronized void setCtx(AbstractApplicationContext ctx) {
              AmrContextUtil.ctx = ctx;
    B) Here is the error reported by the server:

    </property>
    </bean>

    My guess is that something is broken in the configuration of the cacheServer and its not finding
    all of the dependencies that your process pattern application needs. Probably the best way
    to debug this stuff is to define a static main in your runnable task which will make the call
    to the run() method and invoke it as the main class using the identical settings (classpath,
    run directory) that you are using to launch the Coherence cache server.

    Bob

  • XMLType column based on XML Schema: several questions

    Hi,
    I've a table on an oracle db version 10.1.0.4 where I stage the xml files containing orders created on a third party's system using BizTalk.
    Although the storage I opted for is based on an XML Schema, defined by this third-party, I am facing big perfomance issues with files bigger than a few hundreds of kBs.
    For instance, a 32Mb file takes more than 2 hours to be processed.
    Now, after reading other threads in this forum and the documentation, my understanding of the problem is that the whole issue is with the correct indexing of the nested tables.
    Here is my current XML Schema definition:

    When I registered the XMLSchema, the following types and tables were automatically created and you can see the hierarchy below:
    (by the way, I could not find any xdb_utilities.printNestedTables mentioned elsewhere)
    XML_ORDERS
    |_PickData381_T
    |___ProdRun382_T

    |_______PickWave383_T

    |___________Customer384_T

    These objects are then used in the following nested tables:

    Note that I cancelled this operation before it was over so I imagine that these figures refer to the statistics as of the time when the operation was interrupted.
    So, here are finally my questions.
    In order to create the constraints on the nested tables as shown in other threads, do I need to drop the existing xml_orders table and ancillary object types and recreate them or is there a way to add such constraints using the existing system generated object names?
    Secondly, the xml_orders table may contain severale documents, not just one and his current primary key is the column ID. So, in order to uniquely identify the deepest element in the xml document, I need first to select the relevant document by means of the id column.
    Would it be better to create the indexes containing this id column together with the nested_table_id and array_index?
    Thanks for you help.

    PS: I wrote a 10 lines xsl transformation that I passed on to Saxon together with the 32Mb file. It took less than 1 minute to produce a flat file that was loaded almost instantly by SQL*Loader. So, what I am looking for is a procedure loading this stuff in less than 2 minutes or possibly less.

    Does the following help

  • Error when registering XML Schema

    When I try to register a schema with XDB I keep getting an ORA-31000 error. It says that the schema it references is not a valid XDB schema, but when I try to register that one it says the first one isn't valid.

    Testing with 11g I get
    I assume you have registered 'http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/ws-addr.xsd'

  • Storing DTD or xml schema in DB

    Is there a recommended best practice for using db tables to store constraints represented by a DTD or xml schema? I'm not looking to store a normal xml doc in the db, but rather something like the DTD that can be read and used to validate incoming documents. I'd also rather have this in a table somehow to handle changes to the DTD structure. Any advice much appreciated -
    Rob

    You are correct that there is no XML Schema for our configuration files.
    One of the reasons is that custom adapters can configure any settings they need in their destinations.  The other reason is that the server will not start if there is anything in the config XML that isn't read by the server on startup.  This ensures that mis-spellings and invalid tags do not get ignored.
    You are right however, we should create an xsd for them.  I filed an enhancement request - #2726353.

  • XDB annotations on complex XML Schema

    I am currently testing this in 11gr2 Express, while I wait for our DBA to upgrade our main AIX dev instance to 11gr2 enterprise edition.
    I have a fairly complex xmlschema, provided by the IPTC and trying to annotate it to override some of the default sqltype mappings, but running into problems with how/where to annotate.
    From what I have learned so far, annotations to override the sqltype mappings can only be done on complexType and simpleTypes. ComplexTypes must map to a sql object type, and simpleTypes map to a basic atomic sqlType.
    How would you handle an instance where a complex type extends an xs:string.. but need to have this string map to a CLOB and not a varchar2(4000)?
    <xs:element name="inlineData">
                                                      <xs:annotation>
                                                           <xs:documentation>A rendition of the content using plain-text or encoded inline data</xs:documentation>
                                                      </xs:annotation>
                                                      <xs:complexType>
                                                           <xs:simpleContent>
                                                                <xs:extension base="xs:string">
                                                                     <xs:attributeGroup ref="newsContentAttributes" />
                                                                     <xs:attributeGroup ref="newsContentTypeAttributes" />
                                                                     <xs:attribute name="encoding" type="QCodeType">
                                                                          <xs:annotation>
                                                                               <xs:documentation>The encoding applied to the content before inclusion</xs:documentation>
                                                                          </xs:annotation>
                                                                     </xs:attribute>
                                                                     <xs:attributeGroup ref="newsContentCharacteristics" />
                                                                     <xs:attributeGroup ref="i18nAttributes" />
                                                                     <xs:anyAttribute namespace="##other" processContents="lax" />
                                                                </xs:extension>
                                                           </xs:simpleContent>
                                                      </xs:complexType>
                                                 </xs:element>Adding the xdb: mapUnboundedStringToLob annotation to element "inlineData" fails... not valid... and can't add it to the extension either.. so would a viable valid option in this case, be to create a simpleType, call it say "LargeStringToClob"..with a restriction of type xs:String... then annotate this simpleType to map it to a CLOB.
    Then change the inlineData element extension from xs:string to "LargeStringToClob" ? I plan to use an XMLType column with BinaryXML storage...
    I was hoping to not have to modify the xml schema too much, but I guess its to be expected when trying to map it into Oracle.
    I am faced with a similar issue when trying to annotate for Timestamp with time zone...
    some elements are declared as unions of other types. From what I have read, Oracle maps these to varchar2(4000)
    Example:
    <xs:simpleType name="DateOptTimeType">
              <xs:annotation>
                   <xs:documentation>The type of a date (required) and a time (optional).</xs:documentation>
              </xs:annotation>
              <xs:union memberTypes="xs:date xs:dateTime" />
         </xs:simpleType>Even though this is a simpleType... I cannot annotate it to map it to a TimeStamp with Timezone ... would I have to again... create simpleTypes for each of the memberTypes in the union, annotate each one to map to Timestampt with time zone.. then use these new simpleTypes in the union?
    Thanks for any tips or advice!

    so if using Binary XML, you are stuck with what Oracle gives you? for instance, the inlineData element is an unbounded string in the schema... Oracle maps it to varchar2(4000).No, Binary XML stores data differently.

    I think I may have been on this for too long... brain is getting fuzzy ;-)
    The approach you outline shows promise and I will go with BinaryXML storage option.
    I need to decide whether to use virtual columns or non-trivial columns at this point, to enforce integrity constraints and possibly some partitioning. We do have a few relational lookup tables to tie into this as well... and will also need to implement VPD.

  • Issues faced with XML (Objt-Rel) - Plan to move to Binary XML (schema-less)

    Hi All,
    Our Production DB has Oracle XMLDB implementation using 9 XMLDB Object-Relational
    Tables. These have been implemented almost since a year, and we faced several issues,
    have listed some of the most important ones:
    Obviously it is Object-Relational implementation, so we have 4-5 XSDs to start with that
    support the Object-Relational schema
    1) copyEvolve Issues : Due to changing Business Requirements constantly, we had to constantly
    and continuously modify/upgrade XSDs and then use "copyEvolve" to apply new XSDs
    Encountered several issues with CopyEvolve
    2) "Home-grown" solution to evolve XSD/Schema:
    We came up with our own Solution to migrate/evolve XSD schema.
    a) Backup all data from 9 XML DB Tables to 9 CLOB Tables (data is thus "dereferenced" and "delinked"
    from underlying XSDs
    b) Since data is backed up to CLOB Tables, go ahead and drop the entire schema and register
    new XSDs and recreate Tables. (GRANTS and PUBLIC SYNONYMS reappled, needless to say)
    c) Reload data from backed up CLOB Tables to newly created XMLDB (Obj-Relational) Tables
    Above approach (without "copyEvolve") has worked fine so far and helped in each Release/ every migration
    With our data sets becoming increasingly huge, downtime is not sufficient to follow this successful, home-grown
    approach and as a result we would like to get away from Object-Relational XMLDB Tables altogether.
    3) Our Application currently uses XPath heavily on all 9 XMLDB Tables and we understand XPath is already
    deprecated by Oracle (as of 11.2.0.2)
    We are seriously considering doing the following:
    1) Migrate all 9 XMLDB Tables and modify underlying Storage from "Object-Relational" to Binary XML (Schema-less)
    2) Modify Appln code with all XPath replaced by corresponding XQuery constructs
    3) Replace existing "B-TREE" based Indexes in Object-Relational XMLDB Tables with either a) Indexes on Virtual DB Columns to enforce Primary Key and Unique Constraints and b) XMLIndex on all other Non-Unique Columns instead of
    the corresponding "B-TREE" based Indexes
    What we hope to achieve with the above:
    1) Eliminate XSD Usage completely (and copyEvolve nightmares thereby)
    2) Eliminate Usage of XPath totally
    3) Better Performance overall :-)
    Would like to get some advice and feedback on our Proposed Plan and mainly are we taking the
    right direction especially in respect of Performance, Point 3) listed above
    Any feedback or tips would be truly appreciated
    Regards and Thanks
    Auro

    WRT to XPATH Vs XQuery.
    1. XPATH is a subset of XQuery.. Any XPATH expression is, by definition, an example of simple XQuery expression, so XPATH is not depricated.
    2. What we are depricateing are the older, oracle specific XML operators (EXTRACT(), EXTRACTVALUE(), EXISTSNODE()), that ONLY support XPATH. We are depricating these in favour of the new SQL/XML operators (XMLTABLE, XMLQUERY, XMLEXISTS) defined by the SQL standards committee. These operators provide support for the full XQquery standard, and implicitly all of the XPATH expressions that were supported by the older operators. This menas we strongly recommned that new code, developed to work with 11g make use of nrw newer operators. Personally I cannot see a point where we would ever consider de-supportting the older operators, we are well aware of how much code makes use of them.
    What this means is that any code that is written using the older operators will continue to work, unmodified. However should a bug surface in the use of the older operators, we would strongly recommend that the code in question be migrated to the new operators as part of the remidiation process.
    Also, once the initial pain of learning the new syntax is overcome, I truely believe that the new operators result in much more efficient and mantainable code, so taking the time to do code renevation when possible will probably pay off in the long term...
    WRT to moving away from Schema-Based OR storage, I would look at the kind of changes you have made to the XML Schema. If they are the kind of changes that would be supported by in-place evolution in 11g then you might want to re-consider this. If, on the other hand you are regularly making changes to the XML schema that are not backwardsly compatable with your older XML Schema then Schema-Based binary XML storeage (which is more flexible than Schema-Based Object-Relational storage) or even non-schema based Binary XML may be a better choice for your applicaiton..
    I would experment by registering the oldest version of your XML Schema in 11gR2, and then testing each of the evolutions you have gone through to see if 11GR2 inplace evolution would have managed them. Also, ask yourself do you expect your XML Schema to keep changing so drastically moving forward, or were some of these changes the results of the growing pains associated with learning how to use XML schema effectively. BTW the approach you outline is effectively what CopyEvolve is doing under the covers...
    Bear in mind that for the use-cases Object-Relational storage addesses, when all of the XPATH expressions are correctly re-written into SQL operations on the underlying tables, and where the majority of queries end up accessing or updating leaf-level nodes in the XML, it is unlikely that a Binary XML / Unstructured XML Index combination will deliver similar performance. If you are only accesss a small subset of the leaf-level nodes, creating structured XML Indexes that project out the nodes in question may be able to deliver similar performance to an Object-Relational storage model, but you will need to get the index definitions correct.

  • Is JAXB the best solution to store XML schema in databse

    Hi, i have a doubt regarding which is better way to store XML schema to database.
    I have looked on JAXB, DOM, SAX.
    I should be able to modify the database and store back the changes in XML schema..
    i am really consfused about this.
    plz suggest me
    thanx

    Thank you for your reply
    As per as I know JAXB take XML schema as basis to
    create tables in database and store the XML data
    according to that . I want to store the XML Data in
    the database structured according to XML schema
    defined by me.I'm not sure how a schema would impact this. Schema is a data definition that constraints a given XML data document. The XML itself is stored as a string. Databases like Oracle now have XML column types and allow you to use XML querying languages and x-Path in normal SQL queries.
    There are 2 types of mapping from XML to datbase
    Table space and object relational
    A tablespace is conceptually similar to a namespace. Object relational mappers go from objects to relational databases and back. I do not see how either of these two concepts are mutually exclusive. And the latter makes no sense if you talking about an object database. There is no O/R mapping because there is no relational database, it's an object database.
    I want to do object-relational mapping from XML to
    o object oriented database . and the modifications
    done on the datbase want to store again in XML. As
    per as I know JAXB give us classes as per the XML
    schema and we can write DDL to store the data in
    databse
    JAXB is for marshalling and unmarshalling Java objects to and from XML. The XML itself can be stored in any LOB database column.
    Is it the right approach or do you have any better
    idea?I still do not really understand what you are trying to do. It seems like you have a bit too much technology soup to consume. What are the actual requirements?
