Idlj bug: compiler generates stubs files 1000 of times...

The idlj compiler generates client stubs multiple times while compiling a single idl file. For example the following idl file results in the idlj compiler generating the client stubs 5 times:
module com { module adobe { module ids {
     module preferences {
          interface BookPrefs;
module com { module adobe { module ids {
          module book {
          interface Book {
               short add(in short x, in short y);
module com { module adobe { module ids {
     module preferences {
          interface BookPrefs {
               short delete(in short x, in short y);
}; }; };It simply redundantly generates the stubs, overwriting each time. This is not generally a problem for a file of this size, but we have a large idl file that takes several hours to generate stubs for. If I look at CPU usage it is about at 10%, but if I look at disk I/O it is pegged at 100%. Through some simple debugging I discovered that idlj is writing stubs for each interface many thousands of times.
I've downloaded the source to idlj and have identified the problem and have a fix. the large idl file that used to take several hours, now takes less than 30 seconds.
I'd like to get this bug reported and fixed. How do I go about that?

I was going through some very old emails, and I found your post, which I
missed last year (8 months ago!). If you are still interested, send
me the details, and we will take care of this. Send email to

    It turned out that my Captivate file exceeded 50MB (the
    working “.cp” file) and this causes problems when
    outputting, they tell me at Captivate support, that weird
    corruptions happen. I tried removing the audio from the Flash after
    synchronizing the audio to screen activity, then saving a non-audio
    version, then importing it into Captivate, then importing the audio
    into Captivate. Make sure to check Options/Synchronize to project
    when you import the .swf. That solved the problem for me. Good
    luck!

  • Compile error with IDLJ generated java files.

    When compiling the IDLJ generated java files, javac is not able to recognize org.omg.CORBA.ObjectHelper

    I have located these classes in rt.jar but including this jar in CLASSPATH gives
    a version '48.0' is too recent error.

  • Compilation failed while generating stub classes using wscompile

    I am new to Web Services. I am trying to generate client stub classes from WSDL (provided by Seapine's with TestTarckPro Software), using wscompile. I am using JWSDP 1.6

    ==============================================================================
    My understanding is, while generating stubs, dashes or hyphens in variable names m-strFileName, m-strFixedRevision, m-dateFixedTimestamp are interpreted as minus sign and hence compilation is failing.
    I tried stub generation from same WSDL with Apache Axis and it's working fine. But stub generation is failing with JWSDP. Is this a problem with this WSDL file ? Am I missing something while using wscomplie command ?
    Please advise.

    Deepank-
    When generating forms from Designer, Designer attaches libraries - like ofgmes.pll, ofgnavl.pll, etc. You will need to copy these libraries to the same directory where your forms reside on your Linux box. To find out what libraries ate attached to your form, open it on your windows PC after generating it from Designer and you will see the attached libraries. Also, watch out for the case-sensitivity of Linux. If you have the Designer libraries on your linux box and you still get errors, try changing the case of the names of the libraries.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Unable to compile the JAXB generated java files

    Hi
    I am using JAXB 2.0 API for binding process.
    I have products.xml file as
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE PRODUCTDATA SYSTEM "products.dtd">
    <PRODUCTDATA>
    <PRODUCT PRODID="P001" CATEGORY="Books">
    <PRODUCTNAME>Gone with the wind</PRODUCTNAME>
    <DESCRIPTION>This is abt American Civil War</DESCRIPTION>
    <PRICE>25.00</PRICE>
    <QUANTITY>3</QUANTITY>
    </PRODUCT>
    </PRODUCTDATA>
    and products.xsd(Schema file) as
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xsd:element name="PRODUCTDATA" type="prdt"/>
    <xsd:complexType name="prdt">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="PRODUCT" type="prd" maxOccurs="unbounded" />
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:complexType name="prd">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="PRODUCTNAME" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="DESCRIPTION" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="PRICE" type="xsd:positiveInteger"/>
    <xsd:element name="QUANTITY" type="xsd:nonNegativeInteger"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:attribute name="PRODID" type="pid" use="required"/>
    <xsd:attribute name="CATEGORY" type="xsd:string" use="optional"/>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:simpleType name="pid">
    <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string">
    <xsd:pattern value="[p]{1}/d{3}"/>
    <xsd:length value="4"/>

    i want to ask, is it possible to get the generated class file(compiled file) names??
    can anyone help me with this, read at the documentation and i have no idea which one is used to do such thing..
    Or is it impossible??
    Thanks, please guide me on this..

    don't.

    yes, probably (after all, other tools can do it). Don't ask me how though, I've never had a need to.
    can anyone help me with this, read at the documentation and i have no idea which one is used to do such thing..
    no. Someone else reading the documentation for you won't help you any. Read it yourself, you might learn something.

    I am facing problem While Generating WSDL File from WSDL Geerator which is provided by SAP Business One
    If any body has resolved this. Please help Me...!
    Thanks

    Hi.
    We've seen that error too few times.
    We downloaded the sourcecode for the wdsl generator and discovered,
    that in our case, it was because we had no user defined objects.
    Its actually a bug as far as I can see, where the wdsl generator tries
    to enumerate a empty recordset, and crashes.

  • Error While Generating Stub

    I don't think that the stub I'm generating is any good. I've been having a problem for a while now, where I can't register my remote object with the registry. The stack trace is throwing out a class not found exception, referring to my generated stub class. Also, by coincidence, this time around I had my IDE open in the background while I was generating the stub in a command prompt, and when the stub class appears in the ide (it has the rmi example working dir mounted) it shows up with an error badge - symbolizing that there is something wrong with the object.
    Now, the ide doesn't give me any information about what is wrong with the class, but it would make sense that the sutb is not being generated correctly, with the problems that I've been experiencing. Any ideas, as to how I could be generating a bad stub?
    I'm calling:
    rmic -v1.2 -classpath . test.rmi.timestamp.TimestampServer
    (i'm running jsdk 1.4.0_01
    Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
    -d|w

    Are you using Eclipse as your IDE ? And are you trying to run your server from within Eclipse ?
    If so (and possibly if not), you'll probably find that the problem is that you've not included your stub class files in the classpath when you run your code. Since Eclipse doesn't compile the stubs for you, this won't necessarily happen automatically.
    I've not tried the following tool, but it looks like it might ease things along if you are using Eclipse:

  • Generating hlp files in RoboHelp HTML

    Is it possible to generate .hlp files from RoboHelp HTML version 9? We're generating help files for an older program that only uses .hlp or .chm files. I've only been able to generate .hlp files from RoboHelp for Word, and I don't really want to use it any more. But I haven't been able to generate .hlp files from RoboHelp HTML.
    Thanks.

    Hello PP
    I'll be happy to hazard a guess as to why RoboHelp doesn't "do" WinHelp. It has to do with the history of RoboHelp. Way back around 1992 or so, RoboHelp existed largely as a plug-in to Microsoft Word that made it a lot easier to create WinHelp files. Basically it was a set of macros that formatted the arcane coding necessary inside Word documents that made things work for the WinHelp compiler.
    HTML emerged later on and the first version of RoboHelp HTML was born. This created an entirely new format and an entirely new application (RoboHelp HTML or RoboHTML) was born. HTML help was the new kid on the block. As such, I'm guessing the developers were sort of watching to see if or how much it would "catch on".
    So the application code bases were totally different. And remain so to this day. As Microsoft has taken measures to try and dissuade folks from using WinHelp, I'm sure RoboHelp for Word is likely on life support and probably has been for some time. RoboHelp for Word and RoboHelp HTML work in totally different ways. And given the fact Microsoft wants WinHelp gone, it simply doesn't make any sense to expend effort on making RoboHelp HTML capable of outputting WinHelp.
    Cheers... Rick

  • StackOverflowException compiling 8000 source file

    I am trying to compile a source file with ~8000 lines. It has many (hundreds) of static members (instances of that class), and methods containing conditional statements to take a string and return the instance of that name. This is generated code, so I do not think I can change it.
    Every time I try to compile it with Maven (Sun JDK 1.4.2_05) I get a java.lang.StackOverflowException. I have tried giving Maven more stack memory via the -Xss option (as much as 10m per thread), but that didn't help at all.
    I commented out 90% of the code and it works fine, so I know it is the size that is the problem.
    Has anyone had to deal with something like this before? If so, how did you fix it?

    Thank you to everyone who has replied. After some experimentation I discovered that the problem is not the 800+ static objects being created - it was the 1000's of lines of nested conditional statements. The generator has been modified to make if, if, if... instead of if, else-if, else-if, ... and all is well. :)
    I do not believe any sort of hard limit was reached, b/c Eclipse had no problem with the file. Also, one of our projects has a source file with 12k lines, and it works fine (though it has a different structure).
    I find it interesting that people are being so critical about the generator, especially since this is only one small piece of its modelling. The generator does far more than just create the key types and values.
    Furthermore, I don't understand the criticism of the code as-is. No, it's not something I'd write myself, nor would I wish to maintain such code - but no one has to! That's what the generator is for. If I want to add or delete a key type/value, I do so in the generator, and then regenerate the code.
    I also don't understand why anyone thinks this code is not object-oriented. Perhaps I just didn't explain it well. All classes representing key types extend AbstractDiscreteValue, so there's inheritance. The reason why all the values exist as static (and final) instances is b/c we never need more than one instance of each value, the values are known at generation time, and all instances are immutable.
    How would any of you construct such a class? Keep in mind that maintenance is not an issue, and most key types (probably 95% or more) have fewer than a dozen values.
    Anyway, thanks again for the help.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your help with this. As it turns out, I received this message from
    the weblogic team here:
    =======
    All,
    The J2EE monitoring tool OVTA rolled out to Weblogic Farm Linux QA and Stage environment
    had a bug in the instrumentation. The bug induces a java.lang.IllegalAccessError.
    A patch as been rolled out to fix this issue.
    =======
    Once the patch was rolled out and weblogic was restarted, the issue disappeared.
    Thanks again for your help!

    If you could provide a short reproducer, we could give it a spin; or
    open a dialog with our support team.

    Hi, thanks for responding.
    I have precisely the same client jsp running without any errors onapache tomcat
    accessing
    webservices residing in weblogic 8.1 It's only when I try to migratethe client
    code from tomcat
    to weblogic that I see this "already connected" exception being thrownfrom within
    the weblogic-
    generated stubs.
    I successfully get a port from the service, but when I try to executethe business
    method in the
    port, that is where the exception is thrown -- consistently.
    Any ideas? I am seeing identical behavior on 2 different applications.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
    The 7.0 reference is a namespace and not a problem and not associated
    with your issue. I think you are seeing normal process threading
    issues
    with jsp sessions. There is an example using a jsp [1] and one with
    SSL
    [2] that you might want to examine.

    Hi,
    I have a simple webservice that has been tested for a while and
    works
    without
    any trouble when
    accessed from a standalone java client using the weblogic-generatedwebservice
    stubs.
    I am trying to code a webapp client (using jsp/struts) using the
    same
    stubs, and
    seem to keep
    getting this error. It appears on the client side, doesn't even
    reach
    the server
    side.
    I am using weblogic 8.1 SP1. (It is interesting that even though
    everything
    was
    compiled and
    deployed with weblogic 8.1, there is some reference to 7.0-- whichis not even
    installed on the
    system, so I don't know where it is coming from.)

    HI floks,
    I am very new to RMI, plz tel me how to generat Stub and Skeleton of implimation classes.
    Advanced thanx to all
    Sussec

    Firstly , compile all the require java files
    secondly....use this
    rmic -v1.2 (ur main class name)
    if u use this args"-v1.2" u'll only get Stub class. No need for Skeleton. If ur both client and server application call methods each other.compile with "rmic" for both of them..client and server....
    u also should c the rmi tutorials on java.sun.com...
