IE 8: Change IIS Settings to enforce Compatibility Mode

Follow this link to a Microsoft article titled Implementing the META Switch on IIS. Here is the intro to the article:
"Windows Internet Explorer 8 introduces document compatibility modes that allow Web developers to tell the browser to render their pages in the same way as older versions would. The compatibility mode can be specified on a per-page or per-site basis.
This document describes how to implement a very common document compatibility mode, EmulateIE7, supported by Windows Internet Explorer 8, on a per-site basis, using custom headers in Internet Information Services (IIS)."

Hi Tylor,
in the 9.1 version we do not "officially" support IE8, however MOST things work well in Compatibility Mode. In 9.2 we will officially support IE8, but only in Compatibility Mode. This info was sent to me by our QA folks who thought it would be helpful to customers who are on IE8.
Tim,
I don't know about WebSphere. As I mention above, this is something Microsoft has published to allow organizations to enforce compatibility mode.

  • The new firefox changed my settings, i can only find my administrative account on my laptop, but i'm not logged in as the administrator.

I am trying to attach files from my user account on my laptop, but when I try to attach them inside a Firefox browser, it only allows me to look at the administrator account and the documents on there. I am not logged into my administrator account, because I obviously only use that for the administrative things on my computer. I'm not sure what to do to change this, I've looked through all of the settings in my new version of Firefox (3.6.11) and I can't find anywhere to change those settings. HELP ME, PLEASE!?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.<br />
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".<br />
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.

  • Windows 2008 R2, Internet Information Services: Changing security settings to change a folder's content by using PHP

    Hello,
I would like to ask if somebody's there who could help me:
I am a PHP developer from Stuttgart, Germany.
In my PHP web application I want to edit text files by using PHP code.
These files are created once (by me), so they exist before the PHP application is used by any web user.
My PHP code reads out some text files and other text files' contents are changed.
In my developer's environment (Windows XP, XAMPP) it works fine.
So I'm sure my code is OK.
But the productive system ist a windows server system (Windows 2008 R2 and Internet Information Services).
And here it doesn't work! The text files' contents aren't changed.
I know on windows based webserver systems I have to change the folders security settings
(what I mean: the folders where the text files are placed). I must give the IIS system user (in the past it's name was IUSR..., now it is named otherwise) additional rights, so that it can change folders content.
I did. But it doesn't work.
Some years ago when we used Windows Server 2003 that was the solution that worked.
Giving the IUSR right to change folders content. That was it.
But what is new in Windows Server 2008 that it doesn't work?
I think it must be very complicated. Could somebody help me?
    Thanks
    Tommy

  • I have an annoying message that pops up saying that I have an unauthorised attempt to change the settings, and asks if I want to keep the current settings or accept the changes.

Even if I was computer literate enough to know the difference, it does not tell me what the changes are, or more iomportantly, where they have come from. I always answer, Yes, I am happy with my current settings, and ignore the No, please make the changes, but this message box keeps on presenting every time I open Firefox. I have tried right-clicking on different places on the message box, to try and find a way of removing it.. Can anyone tell me how I might remove this messgae?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

  • Exchange 2010 IIS Settings

I'm going to be updating my Exchange 2010 instance to SP3 and the latest Rollup Update this weekend.  If memory serves me correctly, the IIS custom IIS settings get wiped away when this is done.  I'm referring to settings like https redirect.  Is
there a way to easily reapply them afterwards?  Maybe copying my current web.config file?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
Even though I don't find exacte resource to prove the web.config files contains IIS setting, however I find following blog:
How to configure a HTTP endpoint for Exchange Web Services in Exchange 2010
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dvespa/archive/2009/12/22/how-to-configure-a-http-endpoint-for-exchange-web-services-in-exchange-2010.aspx
In this blog, "At this point IIS should detect the change in the web.config and reload the settings.", it means that IIS will detect web.config to load the settings.
If there is anything I have misunderstanded, please correct me.
    Thanks

I think that is on the right track... I can find the mananged preferences folder and trash it, but it reappears every restart. I verified on our server that there are no managed settings set for this computer under either users or computers, individually or group, and the managed preferences are actually appearing under a user that is a local user, not a network user. Do you have any ideas where this setting might be hiding?

  • My iPhone safair says it cannot open because it is not connected to the internet.  What do I do? I do not believe I changed any settings.  I have turned the phone off but this did not work.

Safari cannot open because the iPhone is not connected to internet.  I do not believe I have changed any settings.  I have turned off the phone and then on, but this did not work.  Help?

For Safari to work, you need either Wi-Fi or cellular data.
Are you connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot?
If not is Settings > Mobile/Cellular > Mobile/Cellular Data: ON

  • How do I get rid of the dropdown list history on the location bar? I have tried changing several settings and all I have done is mess up my ability to open ZIP downloads.

I wanted to clear the drop down suggestions/history list on the location bar so I went to Tools/Options and tried changing several settings. I could not get the results I wanted. Suggestions?
I did get one unwanted result -- or maybe just a coincidence. I received an email with attached pictures in a ZIP format and I could not get the download to open. Suggestions?

  • When Updating to IOS4 Do Not Say Yes to Udpate Changes to Settings

I updated my iPhone 3g to IOS4 on release date. OK You can stop laughing at me know, I got screwed over but I was lucky.
I couldn't get the OS to install using the update so I did the work around and downloaded the OS into iTunes and did a backup and then a restore. I had read a couple of threads that said this would work a lot faster than doing the update. I had waited nearly three hours for the update to finish so I figured it was the combination of my creaky old PC, iTunes and one of the apps on my phone so I tried the restore instead of update trick. It actually worked and only took about 30 minutes start to finish.
BUT when it was done I got a dialog box telling me that I had changed my settings and did I want to apply this change to my phone <YES> or <NO>? Without thinking about it I clicked yes and my phone did another sync. I lost my address book, email and text messages all in one fell swoop. Can you spell panic and nausea? I thought you could.
I was all over the web looking for ways to restore my stuff. I tried another sync because the last one I did before installing the new OS should have still been there...No Luck.
I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. I wasn't too worried about my email, because of course it was still out on the web (Gmail Rocks!!)
Then it occurred to me, I had been using Gmail and GSync. I set up a new G-Sync account on my phone and set it to running. It took about 24 hours total, but all of my email, contacts and text messages restored themselves to my phone wirelessly.
So I strongly recommend that you do not apply changes to your phone when you do the IOS4 update. At least not the first time around. I also do not recommend using the restore in place of update workaround. Just let the update run (and run and run and run and, well you get it)until it finishes. You should get a clean install and a total restore of your music, contacts, apps, email, etc. I have no idea why an update on an 8 Gb iPhone needs to take hours, but apparently it just does.
    So to sum up:
If updating to IOS4 use the update in iTunes not restore
At the end of the update DO NOT apply changes to settings
DO use gmail and G-Sync or another email that backs up your address book to the web.

    Fixed it......
The problem was my Apps library in iTunes was not populated with the apps on my phone after the update of iTunes and iOS4. Therefore, that is why I "lost" them visually. Now, had I gone and hit "Apply" I would have been screwed, since nothing was in my iTunes App library.....Sneaky.....
In iTunes, File>"Transfer Purchases from iPhone"
This populates the iTunes App library with the apps on your device. It will take a few minutes, but all of the apps will now show up when you go back and try to sync the iPhone.

Someone changed the settings on my iPhone so that I can no longer update or add apps. The icon no longer appears. Can someone please tell me how to add that back?

  • I have an Iphone 4s from my work. Until 2 days ago, my iphone would notify me when I got an email or text. Now it does not notify me at all and some times it does not ring at all either. I have not changed any settings at all.

My iphone just randomly stopped notifying me when I got an email, text or voicemail. Sometimes it will not even ring. I confirmed that the volume is turned on and I have not changed any settings at all. My software is up to date. In my job I need to know when I get an email without having to constantly activate the screen or open the email icon.
Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem?

First, is the Mute switch activated?
Mute switch is above the volume buttons on the left side of iPhone.
If you see red/orange color the the mute is ON.
Also check Settings > Sounds > for New mail, Text Tone, etc.. have sound entries?
If that's not the case try
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

  • I can not longer send email from my .me email. in outlook 2010 on my PC. I can still recieve emails fine. I have not changed my settings at all. I have however tried all the settings i can find on the support pages. PLEASE HELP

I can still receive icloud ( ME email address) emails fine. I have not changed my settings at all. I have however tried all the settings I can find on the support pages. PLEASE HELP. Nothing has changed. This suddenly just started happening around a month ago. To frustrate me apple does not seem to have a support email or any method to contact them with this issue to do with their email product. I have spent ages going through the apple support sites and I keep getting asked for an apple product to mark it against. I have no apple product as I am using a PC but I am accessing and using their email product. Is there even a phone number I can call? Surely there is a support area for their Email server issues. Can anyone help? It is driving me mad and causing me major issues. My outlook is Outlook 2010 on a windows 8 PC. As I have said it worked fine then one day decided to stop sending emails.
    Thanks for your help.
