  • Browser links return "Could not load file/URL specified:"

    The JWS application manager works great, but the links in my browser return an error saying "Could not load file/URL specified:" followed by the path to my temporary internet files. Why does JWS, through my browser, always look to my temporary internet files? I go to the demo page at http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/demos.html and any link there returns the same error. The JWS app manager will download and run the demo's just fine, which makes me think there is something wrong with my browser. I am running the following:
    JWS 1.2
    JRE 1.4.1
    IE 5.50
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    often your browser cache may get corrupted for certain sites/pages... your best bet is to clear your cache and try again... you could also change the settings for how long to keep your cache before re-loading as fresh... :-) it's a shame that this happens, but other than what i have suggested, i don't know any other work-arounds...

  • Could not load file/URL (file not found) error for JNLP file

    I am completely baffled in trying to figure out why I am getting the following error for some JNLP files but not others:
    Error: could not load file/URL specified: C:\Users\tom\AppData\Local\Temp\javaws2
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\tom\AppData\Local\Temp\javaws2 (The system cannot find the file specified)

    at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)I have Googled around this forum and elsewhere, and have seen reports that this error is IE-specific, and seems to have something to do with no-cache headers being sent, or with the client browser's cache being full or turned off (which is not my case). I saw the information in the JavaWS FAQ, which recommended turning off security constraints for the JNLP's URI. I tried that, and it didn't help. One of the very baffling things is that I have created several variations of the JNLP file, with varying combinations of jars and property resources, and some combinations always work while other combinations never work. Here's an example:
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="$$codebase">
       <information>
          <title>demo app</title>
          <description>illustrates weird bug</description>
       </information>
       <resources>
          <j2se version="1.5+"/>
          <jar href="randomFile.jar"/>
          <property name="xxx" value="xxxx"/>
          <property name="swing.metalTheme" value="steel"/>
       </resources>
    </jnlp>The above file always fails with the error shown at the top of this message. However, if I remove either of the two properties, it works fine. And I have created other variations with lots of properties, some of which work. All of these variations are in the same directory in the war file, served by the exact same servlet (a slightly modified version of the jnlp.sample.servlet.JnlpDownloadServlet provided with JDK 1.6.0_3). Assuming that a no-cache header is the problem, what on earth could be causing some JNLP files to always be served with a no-cache header, while others are never served with a no-cache header?
    On a related note, any recommended debugging techniques for seeing what headers are being transmitted? I tried adding a simple check for a "debug=true" parameter in the servlet that causes it to set the content type to "text/plain" instead of JNLP, and that allows me to see (rather than execute) the JNLP XML that's being returned, but it doesn't show me the HTTP headers that are being sent back. If any caching headers are being set, I think it must be being set by the servlet container itself, as it's nothing being set in the servlet code that I can see. So I don't see any way on the server side Java code to output or log the actual HTTP response (or is there?). Any tips in that regard much appreciated.

    Hi Luca-Sanna,
    Thanks for the response. Re browsers, yes, it fails in IE but it succeeds in Firefox. The info on the JavaWS FAQ and other places all seem to indicate that it's an IE issue concerning handling of the cache-control headers.
    I should check in my webserver forum (Sun WebServer 7) to see about logging options. Sniffing on the client side is not possible, as my app is required to use HTTPS exclusively, and unfortunately that also precludes a telnet GET request.

    I have not tried deploying this to staging since the issue started as I'm a bit nervous of touching the staging/live environment until this is solved.
    Removing the PlatformTarget element from the project file has no effect
    Removing the msshrtmi.dll file from the bin directory of the website project ends up with
    'Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsFabric.Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'
    I have used Git to revert to the last working build to no effect (But I don't have the obj/bin folders in GIT), but it has atleast reset the project files etc.
    If I return msshrtmi.dll to the bin folder and switch the model and website projects to x64 there is no change
    If I switch both to x86 then I get an error Could not load file or assembly 'BekoModel2011' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
    which is the model project - presumably because to run on my x64 machine I need the 64bit version?
    I really need to be able to debug and then publish some changes ASAP.
    Andrew

    Hi,
    Is it true that you're using IIS to host the application? Could you check whether the process is x64 or x86 one via task manager or config in IIS manager?

    Hi Mubarak,
    Please firstly make sure you installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SP2 in a Windows Server 2012 R2. Since only SP2 slipstream installations are supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

  • Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess error on server

    I have been building a.NET application on my local Machine Windows 7 and have the 32-bit ODT installed on my machine which works nicely with VS 2010.
    I placed it on the server and when I open the page that accesses data from Oracle, I get the below error. Both the server and my local computer have the Oracle.DataAccess
    dll installed and both have the same public token 89b483f429c47342. I changed the target CPU from Any CPU to x86 and published a Release build of my project to the server.
    Why am I getting the below error?

    I am not sure wat this means and I have been searching the internet with no success. I'm using Oracle 9i Client 9.2.0.1.0 and I downloaded ODP.NET Version=9.2.0.700 just recently. Cud this have caused the problem????

    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    OracleDataAdapter adapter = new OracleDataAdapter(cmd);
    adapter.Fill(dt);
    //cmd.Connection.Close();
    conn.Close();

  • VS2008 - Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess...

    Hi all,
    After installing the ODAC 11g I am getting the following error when I try to run in debug mode a VS 2008 Win Form app that uses DataAccess.dll. The app is the HR_Connect.
    Here is the error -
    System.IO.FileNotFoundException was unhandled
    Message="Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.6.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
    Source="HR_Connect"
    FileName="Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.6.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342"
    Do I need to install ODT as well?
    I thought I found the answer to my problem in another thread but alas the below does not help. After installing the ODAC 11g the file mentioned below is in both places already so nothing to move.
    Here is the reply.
    We believe we have found the solution to the package load failure errors in ODT 11g.
    Assuming that you received no errors or warnings during the installation, try the following:
    After installing ODAC 11g on a machine with Visual Studio 2005 and/or Visual Studio 2008:
    1) Close Visual Studio
    2) Copy over the MSVCR71.dll from%ORACLE_HOME%\oui\lib\win32 to %ORACLE_HOME%
    ..where %ORACLE_HOME% would be the directory where you installed ODAC 11g, for example C:\app\user1\product\11.1.0\client_1
    3) Restart Visual Studio, and attempt to use ODT.
    Please let me know if this fixes your problem!Thanks

    Hi the solution you posted is for "Package Load Failure" errors with Visual Studio. It doesn't sound like you are receiving that error, so that solution does not apply to you.
    Some suggestions:
    1) Repost this to ODP.NET forum. They likely have seen this before.
    2) Make sure when you are doing the install of ODAC that you are not getting any warnings or errors. If you are, make sure not to proceed, and instead resolve those install errors first.

    I have made sure that I am referencing the 64 bit sdk .dlls from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\. I only have 64 bit installed as well. Are InfoStore, Framework, and PluginManager only x86?

    Hi Dustin
    You do  not need to be concerned if your app references 32 or 64 bit assemblies. VS being 32 bit, needs to reference 32 bit assemblies in order to compile correctly. Thus running the app from the VS IDE, you wil be using 32 bit assemblies. Using a compiled exe or a DLL, the app will use 32 bit or 64 bit assemblies depending on how the app was compiled and "bitness" of the OS.
    E.g;; an app compiled as 32 bit will require 32 bit assemblies
    An app compiled as 64 bit will run 64 bit assemblies - on 64 bit OS only.
    An app compiled as "Any CPU", will run 32 b it or 64 bit assemblies, depending on the OS. On a 64 bit OS, the app will by definition use 64 bit assemblies (but it is up to you to deploy the 64 bit runtime - not the 32 bit runtime). On a 32 bit OS the app will use 32 bit assemblies.

  • Could not load file or assembly CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Desktop.User

    I had briefly looked into Crystal Reports within my Visual Studio 2008 solution. However since the project needed to be done quickly I removed the report and the references to Crystal.  Now I have deployed my application using Publish onto my QA server where I am getting the following error.  I checked my references, webconfig and imports to make sure the solution didnt have anything tied to Crystal and found nothing.  Why am I getting this error when I am no longer using the product?  Is there some way to remove the requirement for the assembly?  I also tried installing the Crystal Reports 2008 basic redistributable to my server with no luck.

  • Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.SAPbobsCOM, Version=8.8.0.0

    Hi,
    We recently upgraded our SAP B1 to 8.8, our add-on still remains 2007A and so far it works fine. But when i tried to replace the assembly(UI & DI) in my project from 2007A to 8.8 and run it, then I got this error. During my replacing the assembly SAPbobsCOM and SAPbouiCOM in visual studio 2008, I didn't notice any problem. Below are what I did for the upgrading:
    1. I launched my SAP and connect to our new SAP B1 server and was asked to do the upgrading.
    2. Once my SAP B1 client upgrade finished then I can login into new version of SAP B1 8.8
    3. Then  I open my Add-On project and remove the assembly (old ver 2007, UI & DI) then re-add the reference using 8.8
    When I run the add-on in debugging mode with my current SAP B1 8.8 client, then I got an errors saying "Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.SAPbobsCOM, Version=8.8.0.0"
    Any idea?
    Many thanks!
    Lan

    Hi Gordon,
    I am not running the new add-on inside SAP B1, I am running it inside visual studio under debugging mode. Do you think i still need to clean the temp folder? Can you tell me which temp folder or what specific file need to be removed?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I currently installed VS 2012 Ultimate Edition, Visual Web Developer 2012 Express Edition and MS Sql server 2008 R2.
    When i go to add a data connection (sql server 2008 r2) in Visual studio 2012.
    The steps followed were:
    1. Open Server Explorer.
    2. right click on Data Connections
    3. Click on Add Connection
    4. In Choose data source: Microsoft Sql Server and Data Provider:
    .net framework data provider for sql server
    5. Add server name: ALVI\SQLEXPRESS and the database name:

    I have already tried this method.
    1) Microsoft SQL Server Management Objects
    2) repair installed on Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types
    3) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client.
    what's the problem? and what i need to do?
    Thanks
    ALVI

    Hello,
    Thank you for your post.
    In order to check if the issue is related to your VS,
    you could locate to the IDE folder then run these commands to check if it can help if you add a data connection in VS2012 Ultimate:
    Please open Windows Explorer, and navigate to  <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE
    Devenv.exe /SafeMode: Launches the IDE in safe mode loading minimal windows.
    Devenv.exe /ResetSettings: Restores the IDE's default settings, optionally resets to the specified VSSettings file.
    Devenv.exe /ResetAddin: Removes commands and command UI associated with the specified Add-in.
    Devenv.exe /ResetSkipPkgs: Clears all SkipLoading tags added to VSPackages.
    And I did some search about this error and find a thread with the similar issue:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/efb83302-386b-460f-9467-edce28d61016/unable-to-add-a-data-connection-in-visual-studio
    As VMzaure said, if you are using SQL Server Express, you need to specify the server name as
    MyComputerName\SQLEXPRESS. But based on your post, I feel you are using SQL Server. If you are using SQL Server and have named instance, please try to specify the server name as MyComputerName\InstanceNameHere to check the result.
    If still no help, according the error, it indicates that the problem is that the system cannot locate the right assembly (SQL Server SDK). So I think you may get better response and solutions
    if you consult on SQL Server forums.
    Thank you for your understanding.
