  • XML page display Error in IE5

    To JDev Team:
    When I generate XML under IE5 browser I get the following error:
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    Invalid xml declaration. Line 10, Position 3

    In Netscape 'save file' dialog appears which is a better solution. Most of my users under IE5. So, I'd like the contents to be displayed(as well as saved) under IE5. Any solutions you can think of?

    Hi,
    The error page is a JSF page with a message component. So I add error message by this code.
    fc.addMessage(null, new FacesMessage(msgError, ""));
    it should show the error. But it is not now.

  • 1.1 bytecode doesn't work on W2k ie5?

    One step forward and two steps back...
    I compiled my applet using the -target 1.1 option, so that everyone could use my applet without plug-in. I could get it to work with a plug-in, but students for some reason had a hard time following the directions involved in loading the plug-in and complained bitterly...
    So I asked the forum for help, and the suggestion was to compile to 1.1 bytecode. But for some reason, the applet did not work in ie5 on windows 2000. Netscape 6.2 asked me for the 1.3 plug-in when I tried to run it there. (But it already had loaded on it the 1.4 plug-in). The applet did work in Netscape and ie 5 in win98, and (ironically enough!) in ie6 on winxp!
    1) I thought 1.1 bytecode was universal for everything above ie3 and netscape 4!? Is this a false statement?
    2) Is there something with w2k that causes this?
    3) Is there some way to fix this problem for ie in w2k? (Other than to use the plug-in?) Ie returns the error message "applet not inited".
    I am not entirely sure that the applet will run on a computer that doesn't have a plug-in loaded (as I don't have any computers that don't have some sort of plug-in on them).
    The idea was to get my students to be able to run the darn applet with practically anything... but if this doesn't work I'm going back to using the plug-in.
    4) Does the applet run? http://www2.hawaii.edu/~jmcfatri/Java/SimpleFieldMap.html
    Thanks in advance!
    :) Jen

    Actually I don't think w2k is the problem.. I just tried it on my w98 computer with N 4.7, which has plug-in 1.3 and it looks like it is giving me a null pointer on an image which I load in the initialization of the bFieldPanel class.

  • Can I safely delete the contents of Content.IE5?

    I'm running MacOS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and using Bootcamp 3 (I think) so run Windows XP SP3. My Bootcamp drive is formatted in FAT32, There is a hidden folder in Windows called Content.IE5 where, as I understand it, Internet Explorer stores all of its temporary files. My folder has grown to over 700 MB, and it doesn't get any smaller when I click on the delete temporary files button in IE.
    The folder itself is invisible in Windows, but I can see it when I navigate through the Bootcamp drive in Mac OS.
    I found two links regarding this problem, one from Microsoft
    http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;301057
    http://www.paessler.com/blog/2009/04/17/prtg-7/how-to-get-rid-of-huge-default-us erlocal-settingstemporary-internet-filescontentie5-folders
    As the second link explains, there are severral issues that make it quite difficult to clear the contents of this directory, such as the fact that it belonds to the "default user" and the fact that it is always in use. But as a Mac user running Bootcamp, I have the ability to navigate directly to the directory while running Mac OS and delete the contents manually which otherwise is not possible when running in Windows! My question to the community is should I do it? Or rather, has anyone else attempted this, and if so, did you brake anything in Windows or did it all turn out honky dorey?
    Many thanks.

    Thanks. The clip in the events folder is in Apple Intermediate Codec.
    A clip from the same video in the Original Movies folder is also in Apple Intermediate Codec but with larger pixel dimensions. I'm assuming this isn't H.264 as you mentioned should be there? See attached images.
    The original movie is shot in 1080p AVCHD. But when I imported it into iMovie I did so at the iMovie optimised 920 x 540px as most movies I edit will only ever appear online for the moment (I do archive original HD footage from important footage to the iMovie Camera Archives for future use).

    I checked the Proxy settings in the java plugin console, and it says "use browser settings" . I also checked the settings in the browser in "LAN settings" but there is nothing checked (there is no ip address of any proxy server), does that mean we don't use a proxy server? and I should keep on looking for another cause to the problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • Oracle 8i online docs web pages not working in IE5.5?

    Up until about a week ago, I was able to browse the online docs for Oracle 8i, using Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 on Windows 2000 SP2. Now, I am getting incomplete web page loads and/or pages that repeatedly reload themselves. I do not experience this problem browsing the same pages with Netscape 6.2 on the same PC. The only relevant change on my PC I can think of was application of Service Pack 2 to Internet Explorer 5.5.
    An example URL is http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/server.817/a76965/c01intro.htm#12981 - this page loads only down to the section "Data Integrity". Other pages exhibit similar behaviour. I don't experience this problem using IE5.5 with any other Web sites.
    I have tried clearing all cookies, cached files, etc. to no avail.
    Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Philip Steiner

    Hi,
    You need to follow below steps:
    1) cd $JAVA_TOP
        2) zip -r customprod.zip. Where the list of all directory paths are present, relative to $JAVA_TOP, for custom application's java files at non-standard location.
        3) Generate & sign customprod.jar file.
    Command: adjava oracle.apps.ad.jri.adjmx -areas $JAVA_TOP/customprod.zip -outputFile $JAVA_TOP/customprod.jar -jar $CONTEXT_NAME 1 CUST jarsigner -storePass -keyPass
        4) Delete temporary customprod.zip.
    Command: rm $JAVA_TOP/customprod.zip
        5) Follow below steps to make the custom jar available for WebLogic
    a) Take a back-up of existing /admin/template/ebsProductManifest_xml.tmp
    b) Modify /admin/template/ebsProductManifest_xml.tmp to add entry for customprod.jar (after customall.jar)
    c) Run AutoConfig
    d) Bounce the Mid-tier services

  • PB: PixelGrabber, offscreen Image, Windows 98, ie5

    Hello,
    I've got a problem with a bug that occurs under Windows 98, and ie5.
    This is the code of a little applet that works fine under Windows NT, but not under Windows 98:
    This applet draws 3 colors in a square, and use the grabPixel method for catching the pixels of the image and create another image with those pixels.(the image should be the same)
    The problem is that the grabPixel method changes the colors of the pixels. It occurs only with an offscreen Image (that means an Image created with the createImage(w, h) method). there is no problem with a MemoryImageSource, for example.
    I just notice that the ColorModel of an offscreen Image is not the same as the default ColorModel:
    colorModel: java.awt.image.DirectColorModel = {...}
    red_mask: int = 0xf800 (instead of 0x00ff0000 )
    green_mask: int = 0x7e0 (instead of 0x0000ff00 )
    blue_mask: int = 0x1f (instead of 0x000000ff)
    alpha_mask: int = 0x0 (instead of 0xff000000)
    red_offset: int = 0xb
    green_offset: int = 0x5
    blue_offset: int = 0x0
    alpha_offset: int = 0x0
    red_scale: int = 0x1f
    green_scale: int = 0x3f
    blue_scale: int = 0x1f
    alpha_scale: int = 0x0
    But i don't know how to solve the bug.
    Here is the code :

  • Opening a specific page of a PDF through web browser not working with IE5.5

    Hi,
    I need an urgent help to reslove the problem below.
    Using Netscape 4.7, When I am trying to open a specific page of
    a PDF file through the web browser using the command below.
    web.show_document('http://oraweb/abc.pdf#page=3','_self');
    This opens the page 3 and then when I give subsequent calls to
    this command with different page nunbers, it opens the related
    pages correctly.
    But when using IE 5.5, the page gets displayed correctly for
    only the firt time. Any calls to the command does not change the
    page at all.
    Could anybody help me to resolve this problem ASAP?
    Thanks
    Preji

    Hello,
    I think this is a problem of IE5.5 with PDF-Files.
    You can find more information at acrobat web site
    (perhaps there is a patch)
    There is a setting in the reader where you can say that
    the reader should start in the web-browser. Turn it off -
    when IE starts downloading a pdf-file you can choose
    acrobat reader for the first time.

  • IE5.5 / PDF Problem

    Software: W2K, IE5.5, Acrobat Reader 5.0, Weblogic Server 6.0, FOP
              0.20.1
              I'm having a problem getting a FOP 0.20.1 pdf file to be displayed
              within IE5.5. The pdf is being produced on Weblogic Server 6.0 using
              a jsp, which employs a tag and an ejb to do the FOP transformation.
              After invoking the jsp from the browser, the Acrobat splash screen
              briefly appears, but the IE window ends up being blank and doesn't
              display the pdf. Curiously, the jsp response is written to the
              "Temporary Internet Files" folder with a jsp extension. When I paste
              it onto the desktop, it then has a pdf extension and can be
              successfully opened by Acrobat.
              I've found two work-arounds: 1) serialize the pdf file on the server
              side and then use a redirect to successfully access it (i.e.,
              in-place-activation in IE5 then works); 2) deselect the "Display PDF
              in Browser" option in Acrobat and get the pdf file to be displayed in
              a separate Acrobat window. However, these work-arounds don't meet our
              requirements.
              I've accessed the Microsoft, Adobe and BEA websites to find a solution
              to this. BEA does have a document which explains that Weblogic Server
              will write blank lines at the top of the file returned by the server
              due to successive tags on separate lines at the top of the jsp file.
              The problem can be avoided by putting these tags on the same line,
              which I did. Before doing so, IE displayed the raw file. After the
              "fix", all I got was the blank screen.
              Interestingly enough, Netscape seems impervious to this problem. The
              pdf is embedded within the browser window, even with the blank lines
              at the top of the file returned by the server.
              I've uninstalled/reinstalled Acrobat, upgraded IE5.5 so that it has
              the latest patches, and have tried using IE 5.5 from several different
              machines, all with no success.
              Any help with this would be greatly appreciated ....
              Chris W.

    Send more details:
              Presumably you are sending the PDF to the browser by writing it to the
              response.getOutputStream ?
              Are you setting the mime type to "application/pdf" ?
              Try setting to mime type to text and looking at what is displayed on the
              browser. If there are any stray carriage returns in the response (caused by
              Weblogic JSP processor when it does an import) you will see that the first
              bytes of the first line are not
              %PDF
              so Acrobat can become confused. If this is the case check the bea site for
              how to remove these stray carriage returns.

  • Print from applet running in IE5.5

    Application is standalone and can be used as applet as well. If it works as standalone application everything works fine. When I put it on a Web server and try to run it as applet from within IE5.5 it hangs. The problem is in the part of code that invokes printing, without it applet works fine.
    I know the problem is that applet cant invoke printing if it isnt signed but in that case it should throws exception not hangs at the very beginning. Also, applet cant be closed without closing IE5.5.
    public void printGraph() {
    PageAttributes pa = new PageAttributes();
    JobAttributes ja = new JobAttributes();
    pa.setOrientationRequested(PageAttributes.OrientationRequestedType.LANDSCAPE);
    pa.setOrigin(PageAttributes.OriginType.PRINTABLE);
    PrintJob printJob = getToolkit().getPrintJob(this, graph.name, ja, pa);
    if(printJob != null) {
    int xmargin = 30;
    int ymargin = 30;
    Dimension printArea = printJob.getPageDimension();
    printArea.width -= xmargin;
    printArea.height -= ymargin;
    for(int i=0; i<ja.getCopies(); i++) {
    Graphics g = printJob.getGraphics();
    if( g != null) {
    graph.print(g, printArea, xmargin, ymargin);
    g.dispose();
    printJob.end();
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event) {
    String command = event.getActionCommand();
    Object source = event.getSource();
    int index;
    } else if (command == "Print") {
    try {
    SecurityManager sm = System.getSecurityManager();
    if( sm != null) sm.checkPrintJobAccess();
    printGraph();
    } catch (SecurityException e) {
    System.err.println("Printing is not allowed.");
    I hope someone knows what is the problem.
    Best regards
    Goran

    The problem is in the version of java (1.1.4) IE5.5 supports by default on WIN2K platform.
    This version doesn't support the PageAttributes and JobAttributes classes and method getPrintJob(Frame f, String name, JobAttributes ja, PageAttributes pa).
    The getPrintJob(Frame f, String name, Properties pr) method that is supported since jdk 1.1 can be used instead
    Sorry I didnt mention os platform and java version.

  • Applet Calling DLL in MS Ie5.0 problem?

    Hello,
    I'm using Windows 2000, IE5.0 MicroSoft JVM 1.1.8 build 5.0.0.3802 and have an applet which is calling a local DLL in the c:\winnt\system32\ dir.
    I have granted permissions in the sandbox to allow access to everything (for debug only) and the applet seams to have a problem finding the DLL.
    I have also setup all the appropriate trustlib classes etc.
    Does anyone know if you need to do anything special to the JsafePKCS11.DLL i.e. drop it into a dir, in order for IE5.0 to pick it up?

    Just for information,
    If you use a signed CAB file, the problem is resolved.

  • Session lost (IE5 & IE6) when opening popup window.

    Ok, I've been struggling with this problems for days and spent countless hours with google without finding any decent solutions.
    I'm building a ecommerce site and if the user want to see additional information + pictures from a product, he/she can open a popup window that also has "add to cart"-submit field.
    UserID and some other necessary data is kept in sessions but IE5 / IE6 seems to loose these in this new window when opening it via javascript (popup).
    If I have understood right, the session is lost because IE considers the new window as a new task and therefore it is out of the "session scope".
    Ok, one might say that using encodeUrl()-method should fix this problem, but no it doesn't. encodeURL()-method writes the session to URL only when user has disabled the cookies and in my situation it's not the case.
    Has anyone here been struggling with the problem above ? I've been considering if I encode the UserID and other information manually to the URL and decode it back in the popup, but that brings n+1 security issues to my mind and doesn't really sound like a decent solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Roni
    p.s: Sorry about my crappy english.

    Hmm,
    I did a small test and managed to get the sessions to work with IE.
    the main page:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%
    session.setAttribute("foo", "bar");
    %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontest</title>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function popUp(URL) {
    options="toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,status=no," + "menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=416,height=465, left = 362,top = 184";
    var Infowindow=window.open(URL, "Infowindow" ,options);
    Infowindow.focus();
    -->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    sessionattribute <b>foo</b> has value <b>bar</b><p>
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("sessiondebugpopup.jsp") %>')">link to popup</a>
    </body>
    </html>popup:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontestpopup</title>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    attribute value is:<p>
    <b><%= (String)session.getAttribute("foo") %>
    </body>
    </html>This works just fine, but the code in the actual application does not differ from this.
    Only difference I can figure out if that the .js popup() function is located in header.jsp and the call to the popup is in other .jsp that includes the header.
    Here's the call to the popup in the application:
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("pop.jsp?prod="+ rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro") +"&img="+ cnt.getPictureURL(rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro"), cnt.getUserId(user)))%>')">link</a>And the above code works just fine with firefox/opera/etc, but not with IE5/IE6 (haven't tried other IE versions though).
    This is really getting annoying.

  • After closing all IE5 windows, Java Plug-in 1.4 still works!! HELP!!

    Hello all.
    After installing j2re1.4 I've got the following problem:
    when I run some applet (which uses jdk 1.2 or higher) in my IE5 browser, the plug-in 1.4 starts. After I close ALL my browser windows, the plug-in sign doesn't disappear from my tray bar (in the right bottom corner)!!! The plug-in continues to work! I use Win 98 and when I had jdk1.3b3 installed (with plug-in 1.3b3 installed) everything was OK!!!
    Could you please help me? It's very urgent, I don't know what to do!!
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Anatoly.

    Hello,
    I have a user who experienced that same thing with IE6.0.2600 and Java Plug-In 1.3.1_03. On top of that, the applet behaved extremely irregularly although no exception were ever thrown.
    Our Tech Services team put her back on IE 5.5, and everything worked okay. Then, they tried to reinstall IE6 (and all patches). While re-installing IE6, her machine crashed hard (Windows 98 4.10.1998). After the crash, her PC was unrecoverable, and was reformatted.
    So.....you got me! Seems like either IE6 or Windows98 or both became corrupted beyond repair somehow.
    Hope this helps,
    Paul K.

  • IE5=NATIVE IS'NOT WORKING PROPERLY

    Hi,
    I'm using IE5=native, but what happens is my form just shown the title. I already try IE5 with so many version up to 5.5 and from different machine, but the result always the same. Is This Feature (IE5=native) is not making properly by oracle or this is cause by JVM on Microsoft JVM.
    Wait For Help.
    Thanks

    Have the same problem. Open your formsweb.cfg file and change the baseHTMLJInitiator variable to point to the file base.html instead of basejini.html. This should force you to activate the applet viewer in IE. This will tell you if this will at least work. Over that, there does seem to be a problem for Oracle to identify any version over 5.0. In addition, if you do work native, the java consoled in IE must be 5.0 or better.
