Import Data object using web service adapter
Hello experts,
In DOE, theres a way to import Data Object from a wsdl using webservice adapter. We got to know that there are some guidelines(constraints) on the operations provided in the wsdl to be able to use webservice adapter. Could you please give a sample wsdl which can be used to import Data object for our reference?
Thanks in Advance,
Srilatha
Hi Srilatha,
SAP Netweaver 7.3 is not yet released to customers. Once, this happens we will post sufficient documentation related to the Import of Data Objects through WSDLs. In case you require the information urgently, kindly get in touch directly with the colleagues from DOE Mobile team.
Best Regards,
Kranti

How can i records with date format using web services?
Hello
I can't record date records using web services. I get no message errors.
I can import string values but no dates (YYYY-MM-DD). Do you have any clue about that?
Regards
Arturohello,
That's the code I'm using to update an opportunity. In the date fields (e.g. dFecha_de_entrega_al_cliente) I've tried to put an specific date in the correct format (If i put it in another format i've got an error message due the wrong format). The CRM accepted the code but it didn't update the values that are different of string.
I don´t know if there is something missing in teh program or if the developer environment is not the adequate.
Regards for your comments
Arturo

How to do Bulk data transfer using Web Service
In my application I have to write various web services but majority of the web service has to
query database and return back bulk data(rows>10K) through web service.
So I would like to ask what is the efficient way of transferring bulk data using web service as presently
Iam returning the dataset as xml String (using StringBuilder) from web service and consuming the same at client end.
Is there a better way to this in web service?
My env:
Front end can be in any other technology ,UI like C#
Back end : Tomcat 6 on Java 6 with Axis2
Thanks in advanceInnova wrote:
But then also I have to mention a return type although its xml that is getting transferred.
Can you provide me a with a small sample code.Like if I have Emp obect with properties
Empname,EmpID,DOJ,DOB,Dpt . In this case what will be the return type.
My major concern is that my resultset is going to be huge in terms of >10,000 rows so
that much time for formation of xml and then the transfer so how can I reduce the transfer
time ,I meant a faster optimised approach for transferring large data as part of web service.
Simply putting , how can I transfer bulk data in minimum time so that I can reduce the
waiting time at client side for the response.
Thanks in advanceI've done this with thousands before now, and not had a performance problem...at least nothing worth writing home about.
Your return type will be an array of Emp objects. You can use a SOAP array for that (you'll need to look that up for the syntax, since I can't remember it off the top of my head), which gets restricted to being an array of Emp.
Should the normal technique prove to be too slow then you should look at alternatives, but I would expect this to work well enough. And you have no faffing about with devising a new transfer system that then has to be explained to your client system...it'll all be standard. -
How to exchange a java object between two applications using web service?
Hi,
I am working with Eclipse 3.2 and the application server is weblogic 10.
I have two applications, each one works in an instance of the server.
The first application contains a method called "send " which return a java object.
The second one contains a method called "receive" which must receive this object.
The two applications must exchange the object using web service,
Can you help me please?
Thanks.Have you defined your service class/methods accepting, or returning, the appropriate objects? If so, does the generated WSDL appear to be correct? I have just completed a web service project and found that passing specific objects to be simple, however, I was passing objects which were simply container objects with bean characteristics. Also, might I suggest that you have a play with netbeans. I found that IDE to be great for creating and consuming web services!

How to use web services in Excelsius 2008
I am new to this tool. I have trial version on excelsius 2008 and i would like to build a dashboard that should query our corporate database (in oracle). I think web services is a option to do it. Any samples available?.Please help me
Edited by: AshishDatar on Jul 27, 2009 6:29 PMHi AshishDatar:
For you question you want to get data from data base using web service connection. Here I can give you some suggestions
1.Write a web service to retrieve data from data base, then use Xcelsius u201Cweb service connectionu201D under u201CManage Connectionu201D section to consume the service and get the data from data base to spread sheet.
2.Xcelsius also provide you a tool to generate web service with easy way (without coding). (Suggested)
Using flynet, you can get flynet installation file under Xcelsius installation folder u201CXcelsius\Connectivity\Flynet Webservice Generatoru201D for more information about flynet please refer to
http://myxcelsius.com/2008/11/07/generating-web-services-for-xcelsius-using-flynet-web-service-generator/
Here is also a demo on how to use web service conneciton with Xcelsius + Flynet

Using Web Service as Data source (Pluggable Data Source) in Oracle Reports
Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful. Please provide support for the above request.
It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE? -

atHi,
I guess one of the biggest advantages of the WS Adapter is the support for WS Reliable Messaging.
Here are some documentations about this Adapter:

Error connecting to Salesforce using a Web Service Adapter
Hi,
I'm working on a connection from Data Services 4.2 to Salesforce using a Web Service Adapter.
I've setup up the adapter (including JVM parameters to use a HTTP proxy), created a Datastore based on the adapter and built a batch job that calls the login operation and initiates a sessions towards Salesforce.
When I execute the batch job I get an error message that says:

The trace log for the Web Service Adapter contains the same error message and has some additional info.

- IanHi,
I'm working on a connection from Data Services 4.2 to Salesforce using a Web Service Adapter.
I've setup up the adapter (including JVM parameters to use a HTTP proxy), created a Datastore based on the adapter and built a batch job that calls the login operation and initiates a sessions towards Salesforce.
When I execute the batch job I get an error message that says:
Error calling function <login>: <Web Services client unable to create a SOAP request to send to server. Error: The current node has been removed using a method other than Iterator#remove()>.
The trace log for the Web Service Adapter contains the same error message and has some additional info.

How to Use SOAPArray to Exchanged Data with a Web Service
The method of a prototype Web service I created is defined to take many parameters
and return an object of a user defined class. Furthermore, the user defined class
includes data elements of another user defined class and the Java ArrayList class.
This works with a Java client referencing the WebLogic created client.jar file
but I don't know how well it will work with a non-Java client. In particular,
with Perl which is the language that will be used by the developer who first will
test with the prototype.
In posts to this newsgroup use of "language-specific, generic containers" has
been discouraged and the "language-agnostic" SOAPArray recommended. I have searched
this newgsroup and the Web for examples of how to use a SOAPArray in a Web service
EJB to receive parameters and return results but found none.
Will someone refer me to an example or give an overview of how a Java Web service
EJB running in WebLogic 6.1 would use SOAPArray to get parameter values and return
results?
Also, I would like confirmation that it is best to use SOAPArray to exchange data
with a Web service to achieve the goal of a service accessible by any language.
Thank you.Replies in-line:
How are the structures, e.g. gltrans-workType, defined in the Web service? The structure is made up of nested Java Beans, but this does not mean that the
client for your web service has to be written in Java. The WSDL that I sent contains
everything that a .NET-based (or Perl-based, or Python-based, or VB-based, or
C++ based) Web Service Stack needs to correctly create all the data types in the
web services' signature! That's the beauty of XML Schema! It's programming language
independent :-)
In
other words, what definition in Java resulted in the WSDL statements? The WSDL wasn't produced by WLS 6.1, but it (WLS 6.1) can consume it.
What is the signature of method submitGLTransWorkAsJavaBean() in the
Web service?public void submitGLTransWorkAsJavaBean(GlTransactionsCpyType glTransactionsCpyType)
GlTransactionsCpyType is the outer-most Java Bean. WLS 6.1 does not generate
Java Beans for you, but it will use ones that you defined. See the Java Bean tutorial
on the Javasoft sitem for details on how to create a Java Bean.
Was the WSDL generated using the WL tools for creating a Web service? No.
Conclusion:
You asked for someone to provide you with an example of how to use SOAP array
in a WSDL, which is what the attached file contained :-) What you want to do now
is find a tool that can generate Java Bean code from this WSDL (Apache Axis has
a wsdl2java tool that should work), or create the Java Beans yourself. Afterwards,
create a WLS 6.1 Web Service a expose it for a Perl or .NET client.

Hi Jeff,
Sounds like a pretty cool prototype :-)
I have attached a WSDL (at the bottom of this post) that contains a<schema>
that
uses a SOAPArray to create an array of a <complexType>.

Report that uses web services as data source, prompts for database logon
I have a crystal report that uses web services as a data source. When I deploy the report to Infoview it prompts me for a database username and password. Since I am not using a database it should not prompt me for these. I tried various options in the CMC->database settings for this report but it still prompts me for the database logon info or tells me that the database logon information is incorrect.
The report work fine in the Crystal Reports Designer.
Does anyone know how I can prevent this report from prompting me for the database logon info ?
Thanks,What options have you tried in the CMC?
Have you tried running the report in Crystal Reports installed directly on the Enterprise machine? -

Connecting to Data via a web service: WSDL vs HTTP REST
I created an app and easily was able to get my data from my web service via connecting using the WSDL file. I then added RESTful to my web service and tested it via SOAPUI and then I created a copy of my original app and deleted the link to my service and then added it but this time using the HTTP connection and I was able to connect, I was able to get my value objects created via the xml parser. However, for some reason, my date fields are not working. I went into debug and it says they are invalid. I checked the xml for both the web service WSDL version and the HTTP RESTful and they look the same. So why all of the sudden does my dates not work?
SOAPui from web service
<endDate>2011-05-30T09:53:00-06:00</endDate>
RESTful address
<endDate>2011-05-30T09:53:00-06:00</endDate>
RESTful Flash
endDate:Date
WSDL Flash
endDate:DateDS Version: 14.2.1.224 (14 sp1)
Job Server 14.2.2.5xx (14 sp2)
Configuration on the Web Service:

https://maxcvservices.dnb.com/FirmographicsProduct/V3.2?wsdl
WSS User: provided the name
WSS Pass: provided the pass
Timeout set to 500
All other settings are blank.
Does something need to be defined on the job server?
The WSDL does not even open on the workstation unless I use an adapter. I had found an article/help/note (something) that the web service in SAP DS does not work with HTTPS and it does with an HTTP Adapter.
I do not have access to Job Server, will have to schedule some changes if there is config that has to happen there.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers,

How to use web service consumer as a source to connect to Salesforce?
I see a lot of articles and mapping xmls on how to use web service consumer but as a newbie I am not able to view the object schema from my salesforce enterprise WSDL after importing it in Informatica designer as a source. My enterprise wsdl has operations like create, retrieve, upsert, delete etc so if I want to read data from account then could someone guide me on how to use the web service consumer to view the fields after importing the wsdl. After importing the wsdl and selecting the operation say create, the columns (ports) displayed shows different groups but it doesn't list the object fields? what am I missing here? And what is the operation to read data from Salesforce is it "retrieve" from the entripse wsdl? As a newbie on this, I appreciate any inputs on this topic.

Siebel integration using Web Service
Hi,
We are in the process of integrating Siebel with external systems using web service. We also use the Virtual business component with customer business service. After web service call, it return Siebel property set in format of XML, we need parse the XML (property set) to populate data into VBC fields in order to display data in user interface.
It seems that writing custom XML parsing script is not very desired as so many fields are involved in the integration object. We just wondering if there is any other better ways to populate data into VBC with out using escript since the integration object created by importing WSDL already listed all integration fields. Can data returned by Web service call directly populated the VBC fields through the integration object?
Thanks
SteveEffectively what you're looking at doing here is taking your external content (from the Web Service) and then converting that into the very specific Property Set format that a VBC requires.
The EAI Data Transformation Engine is your friend here as it should let you perform the (hopefully simple) transformation between the two, although you'll also need to define the property set as an Integration Object (an External One to keep the additional envelopes created to a minimum) and then after the DTE has been called take a careful look to make sure everything is the way that it should be.
Put all these parts into a workflow itself, and use the workflow to call the external web service and that should cut to a minimum the code you'll need in the VBC.
