Import Metadata Wizard won't remove columns from repository table

Hello everybody!
We are facing the following problem with an imported object in OWB:
I have imported successfully a table into OWB. I can see in the OWB's "Data Object Editor" that the repository object is identical to the physical object.
If I remove a column from the physical table in db and re-Import the table in OWB, the OWB "Import Metadata Wizard" understands that a column is removed and in the "Import Results" shows that column as "Preserved". However, in OWB's "Data Object Editor" the column is not removed!! Is there a step we are missing?
Thanks in advance!!
ps: we are using OWB 10gR2

Yes you missed one step
While Importing on
Step 3 of 3 Summary and Import
Click on Advance Import OPtion
De select all the preserve option.

  • Add and remove columns from JTable

    Help me please!
    A try to remove column from JTable. It's removed, but when I try to add column in table, then I get all old (removed early) columns + new column....
    I completely confused with it.....
    Here is my code for remove column:
    class DelC implements ActionListener
              public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent e )
                   int [] HowManyColDelete = table.getSelectedColumns();
                   if (HowManyColDelete.length !=0)
                        TableColumnModel tableCModel = table.getColumnModel();
                        for (int i = HowManyColDelete.length-1; i>-1; i--)
                             table.getColumnModel().removeColumn (tableCModel.getColumn (HowManyColDelete [ i ]));
                   else
                          JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(JOptionPane.getRootFrame(), "Column is not selected!");
         }

    It's little ex for me, I just try understand clearly how it's work (table models i mean). Here is code. All action with tables take place through menu items.
    My brain is boiled, I've try a lot of variants of code, but did't get right result :((
    It's code represent problem, which I've describe above. If you'll try remove column and then add it again, it will be ma-a-a-any colunms...
    I understand, that my code just hide columns, not delete from table model....
    But now I have not any decision of my problem...
    Thanks a lot for any help. :)

  • OWB Import Metadata Wizard

    Hi all,
    Got 2 little problems - looking for help!
    1) When I log into OWB as a user with table Select rights (NOT the table owner), I can't import this table using the Import Metadata Wizard - the list of tables appears blank. Do I have to be table owner to import?
    2) If I change the location password and re-deploy, the process fails with the error "Invalid Username/Password". I've confirmed the username and passwords are correct, but it doesn't seem to acknowledge my password change.
    Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful!
    Many thanks,
    Ally

    Regarding 1) OWB will only import objects that you own. If you want to be able to import the metadata as that other user what you need to do is to create a private synonym for the table, and then it will show up in the table list as long as you have the "Use a synonym to look up objects" checkbox (lower left) checked on the screen that allows you to select which object types to import.
    e.g.)
    As user1
    SQL>create table ttest (a number, b number);
    SQL>grant select on ttest to user2;
    then, as user2
    SQL>create synonym ttest for user1.ttest
    then log into OWB as user2 and you should be able to import ttest via your private synonym
    Note that OWB will NOT import from public synonyms.
    Regarding 2) I never hard-code passwords in my defined locations, so I can't help you with this one. Worst case - drop and recreate the location I guess. Have you tried from the "test connect" box on the Coneection Manager object where you changed the password to see if it is properly input?
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • "Import Metadata Wizard" functionality in OMB+

    Using OWB 9.2
    Is it possible to access the functionality of the "Import Metadata Wizard" from OMB+? I need to dynamically import objects from a known host:port:service:schema.
    One way to invoke the "Import Metadata Wizard" from the client is to select "Import" from the right-click menu on an Oracle Module.
    Thanks in advance for any clues.

    How to get the removed columns from a tableYour question is not clear enough.
    As per my understanding you want to restore the deleting columns?
    What is the Database Version?
    If you have backup in dump file, import it.
    If you do not have any dumpfile, You have to restore from Latest backup(RMAN). Of course you have to restore database as you cannot restore objects(tables) from RMAN backup.

  • Including column from fact table reduces number of rows returned

    Hello
    I am facing this issue where in a report I select 5 columns from a fact table. Out of these five columns one of the column is "Amount" for which the aggregation rule is defined as Sum in RPD.
    When I include these five column and filter results based on some criterion , I get all the rows (three rows) that satisfy the criterion. No I add a sixth column to my report and suddenly I only see one row returned by my report. Addition of this sixth column does not affect the criterion as the criterion is not based on this column. But this sixth column is a calculated column.
    I tried different things but because the report was just getting columns from one table (fact) and suddenly inclusion of one column leads to reduction in number of rows , I was unable to find any reason why would that happen.
    So I thought that some one in community may know that in what scenario this happens.
    Thanks

    Are there any repeated values? I'm wondering if what you're seeing is actually suppression of repetition in the results. Edit the analysis, go to the criteria tab, click column properties, go to the Column Format tab, and change the setting for value suppression from 'Suppress" to "Repeat". Repeat for each of your 6 columns and check the outcome.
    Otherwise, I would try testing with other calculations and also bring in some columns from dimension tables to see how this affects the result. You should be able to come up with a case-by-case scenario to work out exactly what causes the rows to be suppressed which will get us one step to closer to working out why the rows get suppressed.
    Thanks,
    George

  • Delete a column from the table

    Hi.
    I would like to delete a column from a table. I want to drop the table and recreate it later. But this table has a primary key which
    is a foreign key of other tables. So after I recreate the table I must recover the relationship of this table and other tables.
    How do I get the information about the primary key of this table as a foreign key of other tables from data dictionary?
    Thanks in advance

    For ur query the reply whay u have got is correct one. For further quries similar to one u had u can download a tool named TOAD (Tools for Oracle Application Developer) from quest site (www.quest.com). Install it a proceed.
    Do let me know how and what u feek about TOAD.

  • Columns from different tables displayed in an ADF table format

    I have a many to one relationship between 2 tables (checklist -> subcontract). I would like to display columns from each table on a web page in an ADF Read Only Table format. I created a method that returns the data I need from the tables. When I drag that method over to my page JDev I'm only allowed to select columns from either the checklist table OR the subcontract table. I need one column from the subcontract table and several columns from the checklist table. I'm using JDev 10.1.3.2 and an Oracle 11g database. Thank you in advance.
    -Wade

    Thank you for your response. I ended up creating a new getter in the Checklist table which refers to the column in the Subcontract table. Then I was able to create a table column for that returned value.
    Thanks again!

  • Selecting columns from two table is slow but same

    I am selecting 27 columns from two tables
    which running for more than 30 minutes. but
    if I select count(*) with the same query
    except the columns it is coming in seconds.
    Where is the error?

    If you post
    1) The table definitions for the underlying tables
    2) The indexes that are on the tables
    3) The two SQL statements you're running
    4) The explain plan for both statements
    we can probably be of some assistance.
    My guess is that the count(*) is able to return much more quickly because the optimizer is able to use a significantly faster query plan that is based on an index which the longer-running query cannot utilize. Without the information I've requested, though, it's hard to do more than speculate.
