Importing Graphics lesson: can't drag to rearrange layers
doesn't work.
Hi, Silvalli-
As we mentioned in the other thread you started, you need to drag in the Elements Panel and not in the Timeline Panel. Here's a screen shot to help you out.
Thanks,

I am using Firefox 9.0.01 on both my Windows 7 PC and an OSX machine. On the OSX machine I can drag tabs to re-arrange them. On the Windows PC I cannot drag tabs. I looked in the tab settings but didn't see anything obvious? I have removed all Add-ins just to make sure, but I am running pure Firefox currently. Any ideas?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:

I can't drag apps from dock in Lion
After just installing Lion I find I am unable to drag apps from the dock or rearrange them. If I click and hold I get a pop up menu that lets me remove the app but I still can't drag and rearrange them like I could in Snow Leopard. I have searched for an answer with no luck so this is my last hope. Does anyone have an answer?
Thanks.Sounds like your Dock preference files are damaged.
Have you tested the issue in a new user?
If a new user works fine:
1. Log back into your effected user.
2. relocate these two files to your desktop:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.db
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
3. Reboot your computer.
4. Test issue

Hi. I have not used Roxio Jam for quite a long time and I just wanted to make a few CDs. Jam used to work easily and well. I have a problem. I can't drag and drop iTunes music files anymore and, now I have to import music one song at a time by using the "+" or "-" buttons on the bottom. What is going on? I trashed the preferences file and restarted Jam to no avail. I also have selected that Jam should open files with iTunes in the Jam preferences. I have a G5 DP 2Ghz PPC machine with OS 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2.1 and Quicktime's version is 7.6.4. I have 2 GB of RAM and the machine has dual 1.25 Ghz. processors plus a 500 GB HD. Can anybody give me any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

Uninstalling AirParrot as well as the two offending AirParrotDriver.kext and APExtFramebuffer.kext files in System>Library>Extensions was the fix. All problems disappeared. -
Why can I drag and drop a file into A3, but not import it?
With A2+ I've scanned images (Epson flatbed) and imported them as TIFF, JPG, PNG, whatever.
Same scanner, software, and A3 refuses to import any of the above formats. However, I can drag and drop the image on a project and it works.
Any ideas? I looked for relevant threads but didn't see any immediately.
ThanksImage appears in import pane; I can assign metadata, click "import," wait about 10 seconds and it says "import completed with errors," though the file doesn't show up in project.
I have to say it's inconsistent. I just spend 20 minutes trying to import a one scan in PNG, TIF, JPG formats, and eventually gave up and dragged it in as TIF.
Just now, I tried importing it into a different A3 project, and the TIF worked. However the PNG (which I didn't drag into A3, still gives the above error.
I can live with this as long as drag and drop works, but seems like a bug. -
Can't drag or import images into iPhoto
For some reason, I can't drag images into iPhoto or importing by going to "Add t olibrary"
As opposed to many people I have no problems draggin in jpgs from my computer, but I can't bring in images that iPhoto has sored from my didigtal camera.
In other words, when I import pictures from my digital camera (a regular Sony camera) it imports them no problem, and then stores them in separate folders. But if I ever want to grab images from those folders and drag them back into iPhoto it won't let me.Try making a direct shortcut to the Organizer and then the Editor.
You should then be able to drag and drop on to the desktop icon.
On Windows right click on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails - could be different in PSE5 but look for the exe file)
Select it and click OK
Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application.

Can't drag and drop or import movie clips or ver. 8 projects into iMovie 9
Hello:
I just installed Leopard (OS X) with iLife and iWork (although I didn't actually install iWork). I can't drag and drop .mov or .dv files into a project. If I "File-->Import-->Movies", all the types I want to import (.mov & .dv) are grayed-out. I created and saved a project with the older version of iMovie (8) and then tried to import it into iMovie 9. The result is a message in the clips panel that says "No matching video. Choose a different options from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner." So far, everything I wanted to do is bust. Can somebody help?
Thanks.

I have tuns of .mp4 clips, converted them to .mov clips... .
How?
easy way:
• double-click mp4 to open it in QuicktimePlayer.app
(does it play the video?)
• File/Export/choose 720p (if optional, if not 480p)
• import THAT into iMovie using iMovies import routine, proceed … -
How do I import music using homeshare with iTunes 11...I can see the shared libraries but I can't drag and drop and there is no import button. Thanks!
Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way. -
CS6 Just upgraded my mac to Yosemite but now can't import graphics from photoshop to illustrator. Does anyone have a solution?
My advice to you is, if you can, drop back to Mavericks. You will have better luck since CS4 is not supported (nor are CS5 or CS5.5) on Yosemite. The other alternative is to uninstall the entire suite, run the cleaner tool and reinstall completely from the original discs or a new download. Be prepared for other fun stuff as well.

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.
Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
I found this (TS3579: If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac Learn about If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac) useful because I did not know about the effect of typing in data and that you could only drag to rearrange the data. I had typed in data before and this had caused problems but restoring defaults did not cause correct dates to show up in Finder.
It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

Can't drag files from external HD, Desktop
Can highlight and open items on my desktop, hard drive, external hard drive, dock, internet, and within programs, but can not drag a file at all from any (even can't drag a graphic from internet browser to my desktop. Isn't even showing the dragging highlight you get when dragging). Everything is just stuck where it's at. Can open folders, programs, etc...
Did I hit a combination of keys that created this? The mouse and keyboard seem to be working fine otherwise. How are the EHD's formattted? I suspect they are formatted for WIndows machines in NFS, if I am correct they are operating correctly and cannot be written to. You may havee to reformat to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) which means yuo will lose all data on them.
Please be complete and tell us more info about the drives. -
Can't drag and drop Quicktime files into Adobe Media Encoder CS6
For some reason I can't drag Quicktime wrapped files into Media Encoder. I get this error message:
"The file [FILE PATH] could not be imported. Could not read from source. Please check the setting and try again."
I have the latest version of Quicktime installed on my system and the problem files open in QT Player without issue. Has anyone encountered this before or know of a quick fix?
I'm running CS6 on a Windows 7 64 bit system. What's the path to the file? Is it on an external drive? A network drive? A mapped drive? Can you try copying the file to your desktop and dragging it from there?
It's on an external e-sata drive. No problem accessing the file from within Premiere. Just can't drop it into Encoder. Doesn't work if I drag to desktop and try from there either.
Are you dragging it in from Windows Explorer? If not, then what app are you dragging from?
Yes, from Explorer.
Are you dragging the actual clip or a shortcut to it?
Actual clip.
Have you tried importing via File > Add Source...? [Double-clicking a blank spot in the Queue gets you to the same Open dialog.]
Yep, tried that. No luck. Double clicking and adding didn't work either.
Definitely only seems to be QT files. Have tried H264 files from 7D camera and ProRes files. No luck. Files that are MP4 work fine.
