  • I have a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. Can I use mirroring via Apple TV? If so. how.

I'm having no trouble sending stuff from my iPod Touch to my TV via Apple TV, but can't seem to get my
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac to do so, as the mirror icon is not appearing in the Menu bar on top.
    1. Can my processor mirror?
    2. If so, how do I get the iCon to appear in the Menu bar

Looking at your processor, you haven't got a compatible Mac. AirPlay Mirroring requires a Mid 2011 or newer iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
To mirror the Mac's display to the Apple TV, use an application like AirParrot or Beamer > http://www.airparrot.com
If you want to use AirPlay to send music or videos to the Apple TV, open iTunes and you should see the AirPlay icon on the iTunes toolbar

  • Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

    Hi
Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

Are you referring to mirroring or you just unable to set up homesharing.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lighroom 5 if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.

    Hi guys!
I used to have an iMac G5 with *Built-in 54 Mbps AirPort Extreme (802.11g)*
Then I bought an *Airport Express* and I am sure that by the time it was still an *Airport Express with (802.11g)*
Now that I have a brand new new iMac that is *Intel Core 2 Duo iMac (802.11n)*
Will I have problem trying to connect it to the Express because it is n and not g?
    Thanks!

No. The Airport Extreme card in your iMac automatically negotiates 802.11b/g/n. It will work just fine with the Airport Express.

Where did it say that? If your computer meets the requirements you can install Snow Leopard and then install Lion via the Mac App store. They both cost $30

Have 1GB RAM.  Will follow up with citation.
Wow, well I'm pretty confident it could benefit from a RAM upgrade. As a general rule of thumb OS X likes 500MB of FREE RAM at all times. Keep Activity Monitor open (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor), the next time you notice a slow down check A M and click the System Memory tab. If you see about 500MB or less you would benefit from a RAM upgrade. You can buy RAM from reputable sources like www.macsales.com (OWC) or Crucial. Installing it is a 10 minute process.

    HI..
Read here >  Requirements for Mac OS X v10.5
Your Mac meets the requirements but make sure there's enough free disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

  • Which VGA adaptor for my Intel Core 2 Duo iMac?

Hi folks... new to this forum. I'm looking to hook up my 20" iMac to a 2nd monitor (it’s a 20” Samsung VGA).
I’m very confused... So far, I've bought 2 different adaptors (neither of which fit the iMac):
Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter (which is listed as ”suitable for iMac Intel Core Duo”)
    http://store.apple.com/ie/product/M9320G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjE0NTg3Ng
Apple Mini VGA to VGA adaptor (which is listed as "suitable for iMac flat screen")
    http://store.apple.com/ie/product/M8639G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjE0NTg4Mg
Can anybody enlighten me which adaptor I need?... my iMac is a 20” iMac Core 2 Duo & I bought it new in April 2008.
    Thanks!

Perhaps is was packaged or repackaged incorrectly, because that is the correct adapter part # for the Intel iMac's including the Early 2008 model.

  • What Can Be Done About Internet Explorer and iWeb '08?

I just finished building a website for a small business - my father's vet clinic - in iWeb. He wanted to use a program that would allow him to update the website himself. Everything looks fine on the Mac side of things, of course, and even on the Firefox Windows browser, though the picture galleries don't seem to load on some machines. In IE, however, links don't work, they go to the wrong pages, graphics don't display correctly, and the functionality of certain pages in compromised. I've been browsing on the boards and I am aware of the endless complaints of iWeb and IE compatibility, but I didn't know if someone could suggest some workarounds for me.
    Here's the site: http://frvet.com
I am in the process of learning CSS site design, and I can lay out a fairly simple page manually, but there is a learning curve for it and my father won't be able to do his own updates. I suppose that he could learn the basics of Dreamweaver or something. At least Dreamweaver is more consistent. I made this site using the white template and just customized it. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give me.

Here's some pointers on getting your site to load in IE.
    Use web safe fonts.
    Don't convert text to graphics.
    Optimize all your images.
    Don't use drop shadows, reflections etc. ( You can add these in iWeb, take a snapshot, crop it and load the resulting JPEG to replace the original.}
Keep your page file sizes down to a minimum.
Run your files through an optimizing application before uploading.
Don't use the standard iWeb navigation.

  • 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac freezing when trying to update and non responsive

I have a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo iMac.  The updates download but when the mac tries to restart to complete the process the screen is just grey with a tool bar across the top System Updates, however the imac is completely unresponsive and will not even force quit.  I have even left it overnight on a couple of occasions in case it is due to the size if the update but to no success and have to turn the machine off manually.  It operates and functions during use but freezes when shutting down.
Any one have any experience of this or suggestions please?

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

  • Can OS X Snow Leopard be installed on a MacBook Pro5, 5 with an Intel Core 2 Duo?

This question may already exist somewhere in the support community, but if it is there I have missed it. If not, then here it is for myself and those of this specific inquiry.
I have a MacBook Pro bought in mid-2009, Model MacBookPro5, 5, with an Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, and approximately 140 GB of HD space, which meets the stated requirements for Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks. It is currently running OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, and I am trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard, or, if possible, Mavericks. I have the Snow Leopard CD, and have tried to install it. However, I get the error message "OS X Can't be installed on this computer". I have tried it from my current OS and by booting directly from the CD. I do not have any partitions, and have backed up and erased the existing Macintosh HD volume, but the error message continues.
Can anyone shed some light into what is the issue? If so, much appreciated in advance.

    Remousamavi,
yes, the MacBookPro5,5 (13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro) can run Snow Leopard. In fact, there were two varieties of model-specific grey installation DVDs for that model MacBook Pro: one had Leopard 10.5.7, and the other had Snow Leopard 10.6. (The “Apple disc ID” of the latter is 2Z691-6533-A.)
Do you have the white “upgrade” 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD, or the white “install” 10.6.3 Snow Leopard DVD? If you have the “upgrade” DVD, then it won’t let you install onto an empty partition; you’ll need to have Snow Leopard installed on your boot disk before it will install the upgrade.
Once you’ve got Snow Leopard installed and updated via Software Update to 10.6.8, you’ll be able to install Mavericks.
