In-place rendering of file item

Hi,
I'm currently using the Early Adopter version of Portal.
Is there simple way of displaying a file item type in-place, i.e. rendered in the folder content area? I know this does not apply to binary file types but for html files it would be OK.
I have managed it by first uploading the file item, then create a URL item that points to the file item but is there a more simple way to do it?
For binary files (ex. a word-doc) I also would like to be able to specify "Open in new Window" but this functionality seems to be missing to.

This is not part of the functionality in the current version of the product. We are considering adding this type of functionality in a future release.

Placement of cursor - when ADD button, place cursor on first item in row

I have several collections on a page. The third collection CATCH_C is usually empty. The user can tab to ADD button. Currently, the cursor is then placed at the first item on the page. I would like it to be place in the first item in that collection. Is that possible?
ps. when the page is pulled up, the page attributes HTML body has the command onload="html_GetElement('f3_0001').focus()"
could I do something similiar for c042 in CATCH_C? and if so, where would I place such a statement? again, very new to java/html so all help appreciated.

Such a simple solution! I think I gave up on that idea before but I was dragging it to the icon for ME and not the actual queue window. Also looking for a better way to send a clip to the top of the queue without dragging it since I've got so many in line.
Do you find the quality of the renders the same when using AE?
I'm outputting to the Youtube 1080p 2997 preset- actually need to figure out the suble differences in all the presets in ME. AE has less options but they are all customizable. When I'd tweak a preset in ME, a lot of times it comes out with a glitch or does not open at all- rendering with the audio button un checked for example, etc.

"Rendering Required Files" - huh?

I'm editing a sequence with a couple of nested sequences and a multicamera edit. Suddenly I'm encountering huge delays when PP RANDOMLY decides it needs to do some rendering. I (seemingly at random) get the message "Rendering Required Files" and then I have to wait for minutes to do anything!
• There are no compilicated effects in any of the sequences.
• There are only a few tracks in the master sequence, and only one or two tracks of audio and/or video in the prior sequences.
• I have a dual quad core MacPro with 16GB of RAM.
• I have 4x1TB hard drives.
I can not for the life of me understand why it needs to render anything. I get the feeling this has to do with audio, but I can not pin this down. Can anybody explain what the heck the program is rendering so I can figure out a workaround?????

Not that I'm too much into the "me too" kind of reply, but I just wanted to add my data into this thread in hope for an eventual fix.
I'm using the PC version (CS5.5) with all the latest updates, on an Intel i7 (4 cores +HT), 24 GB RAM, 2 nVidia GTX470 (sli), a SolidState drive for OS and Apps, and 4x 2TB disks in RAID10 configuration for my data. I think the PC's performance should be more than adequate.
My projet seems similar to what other users have been describing. I have a first sequence on which I have laid 2 video tracks and 2 additional audio tracks. No video effect has been applied. As for audio effect, I have applied EQ and Dynamics on 2 of the tracks (not on the clips themselves). Ultimately, I ended up muting 3 of the audio tracks. Therefore, only 1 audio track ends up in my mix. The audio clip is an uncompressed mono WAV file which was generated by Audition (44.1kHz, 16bits).
On a second sequence, I laid the the video and audio parts of Sequence1 as two seperate clips, so they are completely unlinked. I have set the video clip to MULTI CAM. The audio clip having been laid on the sequence seperately is not influenced at by any of my video edits and camera changes. I have used this approach after reading other users' input on this thread.
When the dreaded "Rendering Required Files..." poped up, I did a couple of UNDO/REDO in order to pin point the exact operation after which the problem occurs. It happened right after I used the Razor Tool to cut my audio clip. At this point, I haven't move my clips' begin and end points. I only applied a cut somewhere in the middle of the audio clip and left it untouch. I can undo that cut and the problem dissapears. But as soon as I cut my clip again, I can no longer play my Sequence #2 without the "Rendering Required Files..." window poping up. I have several hours of video to edit. This happened at 35 minute into the sequence. I can't afford the time to wait for all the rendering to take place, only to end up in the same position where the application will not remember the render it just did.
Interestingly, I can play Sequence #1 with no problem. On Sequence #2, the problem persits even if I mute (click the speaker and eye icons) all audio and video tracks. I tried selecting a limited work area, even a blank are with no audio nor video, and I still have the problem when I hit the enter (preview) key.
Also, there's a yellow line on top of my timeline (both sequences) meaning Premiere should attempt to render the sequence on the fly.

To Place the XML file from one folder to another folder in AL11

Here my requirement is to create the quotes using XML document. The XML document will come from the Application server. this one is fine.
Now my prob is after processing the XML file, we have to place the XML file into another folder.
Please let me know how to move the data inot XML file.
Now iam reading the data into one variable V_string(it will contains the total XML file). From this variable how to move the data into APplication server.

Use FM WS_FILE_COPY To FIrst Copy the File to some Location
and Next Use FM TMP_GUI_DELETE_FILE To Delete the File from Old LOcation.

ORA-29861 Error while editing or adding search keywords in a File Item

From the server error messages reference:
Cause: An attempt has been made to access a domain index that is being built or is marked failed by an unsuccessful ODCIIndexCreate or is marked unusable by a DDL operation.
Action: Wait if the specified index is marked LOADING Drop the specified index if it is marked FAILED Drop or rebuild the specified index if it is marked UNUSABLE.
It's possible you were loading the document while the index was being rebuilt. Search all_indexes where DOMIDX_STATUS <> 'VALID' OR DOMIDX_OPSTATUS <> 'VALID' to find the offending index and rebuild it.

Internal server error when adding a file item

Hi Gurus,
We have Portal 9.0.2.0.1. We add all our documents to portal as file item. I am getting the following error when I try to add a file item. The file size varies from 1 MB to 10MB. It's all .pdf or .doc files. I am able to add 1 or 2 files, then I get this error.

How to view file item count in finder window?

Hi all,
Pre-Lion, I had things set up so that I was able to view the number of files/items in a finder window that was in list view. This information would show up at the bottom of my finder windows. I know I had intially pressed some kind of OS X shortcut to get it to show up there and now would *really* like to be able to easily view that information once again. Not only did I get a file count, I was also shown a file path if I clicked on one of the files in the finder window.
For the life of me though I just cannot remember how to do this. Can anyone help me out?

Displaying file items in-line

I want to be able to display a HTML file that I have loaded into my content area in-line. You can do this with text items, but are limited to 32K.
Are there any plans to enable this for file item types.
Or has anybody done this before.
URL items are not an option I have 11000 documents.

Am not sure if you will want to do this considering you have so many files ... it is a cumbersome wayout but you can try this
1. Upload the file and then hide the item you just added.
2. Now define a link in your folder pointing to the hidden file - you can display the file in your content area.
You can keep a folder that will contain the hidden files.

Safari 7.0.6, using Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10, aren't rendering pdf files in the Print Preview screen. Additionally, only a single, blank page prints for a multi-page pdf document. Any ideas?

Figured it out. It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat. Here's the fix:
Open Finder/Applications
Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
Quit Safari
Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

Place one IDML file inside another one.

I want to place one or more IDML files into another single IDML "master" file.
The master file is sort of a template for a site layout. The IDML files I need to embed represent single content boxes with specific layouts. The files for those content boxes are created outside of InDesign with some texts I get from a database.
To retain those layouts I deemed it best to just place them into another document which is no problem with INDD but just with IDML.
I managed to link multiple INDD files into the master file in InDesign itself, but can not figure out how to link IDML files. I also found that it is possible to link INDD files into IDML files, just not IDML into IDML.
I need to be working with IDML as opposed to INDD because I have to be able to manipulate the files in an easy way outside of InDesign.
Is there any way to link IDML files into other IDML files? Or if not, is there a possibility to convert my IDML files to INDD files without having to use a real instance of InDesign?

Notes: box1.indd and box2.idml are the exact same files, just saved differently by InDesign. The path to both files is a valid file system path and has full read/write access.

What I am now looking for is a way to place one IDML file into another one like you are able to do with INDD files.
Which file format should I use insted then? It must be editable outside of InDesign because I need to be able to change texts and stylings within the file.

That possibly means you have to have InDesign Server to integrate in your workflow.
That's the exact thing I am trying to avoid here.

Place multiple PDF files (or a folder of PDF files) into one InDesign document

Hi,
I know there are several scripts to place multipage Pdf's in InDesign.
Based on those scripts I made one myself which places a PDF file with multiple pages as an InLine graphic where the name of the PDF file is inserted as a heading.
Works great. But when I want to import 20 PDF files I have to run that script 20 times which isn't handy.
So I'm looking for a way to choose a folder in which are several PDF-files that will be placed inside 1 ID doc.
Any suggestions?

Place multiple text files

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but often, when I want to place multiple Word files, it places the same text.
Even just now, I changed my preferences to link to the files so I can see the name of the file I was placing in the Links palette, and if I look at articles 35 and 37 for example, the link is to the right file but the text imported is exactly the same (text from article 35). Even article 39 has the text from 35. But others are fine and have the right text imported.
A while ago when I first experienced this, I realised that if I checked Show import options in the Place dialog box, it would actually import all the different texts, but it didn't seem to work this time. Maybe I clicked OK too fast at each of the Import options dialog boxes (quite annoying actually, I just don't see why it has to come up for every file, once is enough).
Any idea how to fix this?
The place multiple feature is great, but only if it works correctly.

A shortcut to perhaps the prolem is to go "around" the live-edit workflow and just focus on the .indd file.
