In RAC Database All sessions are connecting to Node1 only
Hi Gurus,
Oracle RAC 10R2.
OS: IBM AIX
We have two node RAC instance. When I checked, all sessions are connecting to NODE1. and node2 is not having any worload.
can you guys suggected me from where I start troubleshooting.
Thanks,
Chinmay
Hi Chinmay,
Check for active_instance_count parameter in database. If it's value is 1, database connection will go to only one instance. To check to which instance it will go you can use below query.
select INSTANCE_NAME,HOST_NAME,INSTANCE_ROLE from gv$instance;
Instance_role has two value: active instance (=primary instance) or a passive instance (secondary instance).
Connection will always go to active instance only.

Howto unlock a table in oracle when all sessions are close ...
but ... not commit or roollback has been made ...
Could I try to run any script for unlock the table or the row?
Thanks a lotIf a session is closed, by definition all transactions associated with that session must have ended, either by having the changes committed or rolled back. So the premise does not make sense.
If a table is locked, some session has that lock. If the session goes away, the lock goes away. If the lock is still there, the session must still be there.

Manually deleted cache, all sessions are gone
Every time I try to clear the cache (cmd-shift-backspace), Firefox hangs and I have to force quit. This is a known bug (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938139). So I tried manually deleting the cache but when I started FF again, all windows were gone, and session manager could not restore the previous session. It shows up but nothing happens when I click on it. I tried restoring everything from trash, replacing current items, but this didn't work. I had months worth of open tabs and windows that would take days to restore from history. How can I recover the lost session?
Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -
My iphone screen wont turn on after being replaced 3 times and all ribbons are connected properly
hello ,
i bought a iphone 3gs off my friend only to find multiple problems with the phone !!
i had to change the audio jack replace all buttons , replace the digitilizer and home button .
i did this all with no problems , the only problem i could not fix was the screen keep going blank while using the phone .
i replaced the screen and the problem still persisted , so im pretty sure there is a lose connection some where ,
i had a further look into the problem today only to find that when my friend previously changed the screen he has damaged the logic board where the lcd is connected which is undoubtably the reason for a lose connection .
how do i go about replacing the broken part ? or have i been bumped off and now have to replace the whole logic board ?
many thanksTry unplugging from the computer then pressing and holding the home button, while pressing home button plug it back into the computer and hold until an itunes symbol shows up. If after 60 seconds it doesn't show up try taking into an Apple store for replacement. If it does show up look in itunes and restore iphone.

Is it possible to check if all parameters are connected while running?
Hello,
i have a Vi with one input "Text" and another parameter "bool".
Is it possible to check if the bool-parameter was wired if called from another vi?
Reason:
If not wired i want to write only the text to a logfile
and if wired i want to write a text + the state of the boolean value.
So something like a property "ValueIsWired" that can be used then with a tru/false case to generate different outputs.

Default bool to False, only write State if True.

Kill all sessions of a special user
Hi all,
I'm not very familar with PL/SQL but I think this will help my on my "issue".
Sometimes I need to kill all current sessions (most times 36 sessions) of a single database user.
All sessions have a different sid and serial# and manually executing "alter system kill session 'xxx, yyyy' isn't really funny.
Im thinking of a small PL/SQL script which receives the dbuser name as parameter and then killing all sessions of the user.
Could please anyone give ma a hint or a short example on this??
Many Thanks
Joerg
Edited by: Joerg Lang on 22.06.2009 12:38Hey Hoek,
thanks...
granting "alter system" to my user, by my self :D, let the procedure run without any errors...
Strange thing and good to know...
Ok, but now I'm still having the issue when using the "username" as parameter of the procedure.
create or replace procedure kill_session(user in varchar2)
is
begin
for sessions in ( select sid, serial#
from v$session
where username = 'user_to_kill')
loop
execute immediate 'alter system kill session '''||sessions.sid||','||sessions.serial#||'''';
end loop;
end;works fine and all sessions are killed.

from v$session

loop

any Idea? -

After having built a system using TDMS and starting the system for the first time the database creates dbmsrv processes until all sessions are consumed. All transports etc. are failing now since there are no more user sessions.

- why is it not proceeding although there are only three UKTs actually doing the UPDSTAT?

Apply templates to RAC database
Hi,
We have both production and development templates for our databases that we apply across the enterprise. Different settings let us monitor at different thresholds. These are all for stand-alone single instance setups. Now that we are building out RAC environments, should we create templates for rac instances and then a cluster database? How are you people doing this?
Thanks
AlexThank you for the reply. There are differences between the templates attached to the cluster database and the instances in the rac database. There are also differences in the templates for the rac instance and the regular non-rac databases. Not much consistency unfortunately.

Occasionally my macbook, iphone, and ipad would not be connected to the internet at the same time. However, when they can connect, all three are connected at the same time. It is not my internet because my room mates computers are connected to the internet the whole time without any problems. When I can't connect, I can still see the network name on th wifi network search. However, when I click connect, the only message that pops up is can not join network.

Search all sessions in a RAC database
Hi:
I am wondering if there is a way that I can show all connecting sessions to a RAC database through OEM Grid Control? I found that I must do a "search session" in only one of the instances, but I want to see all sessions on all available nodes at the same time.
Thanks. You can make the same that i do it.
In the Server Node of RAC i build a User Define Metric that execute the following:
SELECT COUNT(*),INST_ID,USERNAME FROM GV$SESSION
WHERE USERNAME IS NOT NULL
AND STATUS = 'ACTIVE'
GROUP BY INST_ID,USERNAME
ORDER BY INST_ID,USERNAME;

As example, i connect to DB through Web Application and tried to search in v$session to can see Web Application session but i did not see it :(
From searching in google, found that there is a package named "DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO". I expected that it can help me in my request but i could not use it.
Please, advise me. Is this package help cover my requirements or there is another method ?
Thanks & Best regards,sybrand_b,

RAC database cannot be connected after Grid and RAC DB have been installed
Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 VMs (main VM rac1 and slave VM rac2) with Oracle Linux 5.6
according to the website http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html
Grid and RAC database have been installed successfully for both VMs rac1 and rac2. I am using the slave VM rac2 to test Grid and RAC database.
I have run the commands as below:

[ora11g@rac2 bin]$ ./crsctl status resource

As we see the outputs for commands above, Grid is running at the beginning but now is not running. SQLPLUS and SQLdeveloper cannot connect with database. Browser url cannot connect to the console https://rac2.localdomain:1158/em.
My question is:
Do any folks understand how to solve the above 4 problems ?
