  • SAP Note 378648 - Offline backup support with Oracle Fail Save

I am trying to implement SAP Note 378648 - Offline backup support with Oracle Fail Save, but am unsure about part of the solution....
Basically, I have to add several parameters into the Environment Variables of the MS Clustered Servers running Windows Server 2003 for the user xidadm...
Fairly straight forward apart from one parameter....
    BR_OFS_DOMAIN=<domain>
I am unsure what is required/meant by domain.  Can anyone shed some light??

Those are environment variables of the Windows user who is running brbackup; usually this is SAPService<SID>.
You have to set this variables the same way as you set ORACLE_HOME and so on.
(I am not sure about the details; never worked with MS cluster.)
    hope this helps

  • Offline message support for AIM gone?

Is it just me or did Apple remove offline message support for AIM (MobileMe, AppleID) Accounts? Until now I could send people, using an AIM/MobileMe Account ID in iChat like me, a message while they were offline. When they came back online later the message was delivered then, even if I were offline then. Now I only get a red icon with an exclamtion mark instead. If I open the information panel for an account, the summary about what the contact account is capable of is now also missing "offline messages" for AIM accounts. However this information is displayed for iMessage accounts.
Somebody else also experiencing this issue - or is it just me?

    Hi,
Apple are going to love me for this test.
I showed my Off Line AIM Buddies.
I selected one of the Apple test accounts for Video testing that happened to be Off line
No Exclamation mark or message that they do not accept Off Line IMs  (Older @mac.com name)
A current/new iCloud @me.com name my well respond differently.
You could login here https://settings.aim.com/ with AIM, @mac.com and MobileMe issued @me.com names and set the Off Line Messaging response.
You cannot login here with iCloud issued ones (In iChat and Messages it requires a login to me.com and AIM to get the password and you cannot do the dual Login on that page)
It maybe the apple have arranged that all iCoud @me.com names have Off Line IMs turned Off.
This may cross over to all @me.com names  (How are AIM going to tell the difference ?)

  • Has anyone used "Offline Dashboard Support"

    Hello everyone
Have any one of you used the offline dashboard support feature in Dashboards 4.1?
Can you tell me how did you set up the connectors? Is there anything to configure other than checking the box called Allow Dashboard support in File > Document Property?
I created a dashboard connected to ,unx universe via query browser. Then I exported to SWF and placed it outside the server.
But when I opened the swf it gave me an error - "Could not log in to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise -"
Usage option is set to "Usage Before Components are Loaded".
I also need to create an offline dashboard connected via QaaWS connector but connecting to WebI report with BIWS. Is this possible?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Runali

    Hi Arijit
Thanks for your reply. So is it same as saving local scenario?
I am little confused here. I thought the idea of offline dashboard was it can be delivered to a location/email and onced emailed the dashboard does not need any connectivity back to the server.
Are you saying the below property does not provide any more than saving a local scenario which you could do before using a button with the same name.

  • Maximum data volume in offline mode supported by Syclo Agentry applications

    Hello Experts,
We are running the SAP Work Manager application 5.3 with Agentry 6.0.
We are using the iOS based client available on the App Store to run the same.
I wanted to ask about how much data volume can be supported by the application when it is running in offline mode.
As the data is stored on the mobile device, is there any upper limit on the data being stored on the device?
Appreciate your help on the same.
    Thank you,

There is no upper limit beside how much the device memory.  But the more data you put onto the device the reduce performance you will get.  It is recommend only to download what the user needs.

  • Offline maps supporting AIR API ?

Do you know of any vendors who would license offline street maps, and support AIR/Flex API ? Or maybe you have suggestions on a map caching mechanism, something similar to a web browser cache but obviously missing in pure AIR environment.
I need to deploy it on 100-200 devices.

  • Poor offline DVD support LR2

Before posting this I had a good look through previous postings on the subject of archiving to DVD and LR2 support for accessing offline DVDs.  Most of the posts I found were more than 6 months old, so thought I would risk the question again.
I am considering Lightroom 2.  I currently use MS Expression Media 2 (ex iView) as my DAM solution.  It works pretty well and has good support for offline DVDs - it actually tells you the label of the disc to load if you need it.  Interestingly it also seems to open a file in Photoshop quicker than does LR.  However, since Microsoft may be on the point of ditching this product I am looking for an alternative.
For better or worse I have 100-200 DVDs worth of archive material.  At this stage I do not want to load them onto HD (might do later).  I just want LR to include a folder name for each DVD with its label name included.  Tantalisingly, when I load a DVD, the folder name says '..Drive (D:) bf...' where bf is the start of the label name.  But I cannot find any way of expanding that field or getting LR2 to tell me which DVD to load.  I tried creating a Collection for each DVD, but it still leaves a mess in the folder area with every folder of every DVD listed under one folder name.
I originally tried LR in beta but backed away for this and other reasons.  I am amazed that, coming back to it after 2 releases, this fundamental issue seems far from resolution.  Perhaps I have missed something, but none of my searches has shown a solution.

Hmmmm... You've covered a lot of ground there in your post. About your iDVD question......
DVD's produced by iDVD's are just DVD's, not BluRay discs. So, the quality will be in good old NTSC, 480 interlaced lines.
TIP: To get the best quality DVD output, choose "Project Info" from the "Project" menu and set the encoding to best performance. This will encode in the background as well as produce the best quality, but it will limit the video time you can get on a 4 GB DVD to about 1 hour. I always use this setting and use DL DVD's for 2 hours and 4 GB DVD's for one hour of footage. And if you are thinking that this setting isn't obvious for best quality, then I would agree with you.
Oh, and just a reminder again.... DVD video, even from a professional studio, does in no way shape or form come close to high bitrate HD video. It never will. That's why they invented BluRay.
Ahhhh, you do realize that 1 hour of HD video takes up 50 GB (when ripped from tape using Apple's intermediate codec, i.e., not compressed to **** like AVCHD.. but AVCHD is getting better, but I digress). Also, one hour of ripped video from your lovely VHS machine takes up 13 GB in the DV format. THAT is minimally compressed video, not compressed video on a DVD (yes! video really is compressed on a DVD... even when you create one on a Windows machine!!).
Do you know how to use Google? Maybe ask your son.
If you are getting results with iDVD which are equivalent to ten year old video recordings on VHS then there is something seriously flawed with your set up. If you can provide some details maybe someone can help. Seriously... what do iDVD rendered images have to do with iTunes doubling your podcasts??

    Mace

  • Offline drive support

I think one of the great potential features of LR, is the ability to work with, and view the database, with the actual storage drive being offline.
My situation: I am on a MacBook Pro (only), and have my entire photographic library on an external Maxtor 750GB drive. (Yes it is backed up!)
The external drive isn't exactly the most portable, so I would want to work with the LR database without necessarily having the drive present. The one (and only) time I did this, I was able to do a lot of work - keywording, crops, rotations, stackings etc etc, but when I next plugged the drive in, each and every image reported a "unknown error while writing metadata" (or words to that effect). Sure, that made heaps of sense, but there was no easy way of telling it to try again, now that the drive was back.
So what I'd like to see is something like: while the storage drive is offline, any modifications to an image are stored temporarily on the computer, which is automatically written to the relevant images when they become available again. (Even moving images between folders could be done virtually, until such time as the collection is back online.)
Currently, you have to click on the ! sign for each image, and select "try writing metadata again". My workaround is- select the entire collection and assign a fake keyword to the lot, which of course causes each image to write new metadata, then delete the keyword again. Not a great solution, and takes ages!

Yes I have, as I want the image to be as complete in itself as possible (ie containing all its own metadata, rather than being saved inside LR, and if the database fails (yes I know there are backups, but.....), or I export without remembering to reinsert the XMP (not eve sure how to do this, or whether that is automatic) that the metadata is with the image, and not lost.
If I deselect the automtically write to XMP, there doesn't seem to be a way of doing it manually, or changing my mind later. For example have "automatically write" turned off so I can work offline, then an option to manually write all XMP back to the images when the drive is online. (Or LR to do it automatically when it sees the drive is back)
Hope I'm making sense- perhaps this is user error / PEBKAC?
(PEBKAC - problem exists between keyboard and chair)

  • I updated my iMac, and my mail no longer works. It says all of my accounts are "offline". Safari is fine. How do I get my accounts back online?

I updated my iMac and now my Mail does not work. It says all of my accounts are"offline". Safari is fine. How do I get my accounts back online?

    Hello there, Lynn.
The following Knowledge Base article explains and offers up some troubleshooting recommendations for issues with email acounts showing offline on Mac Mail:
Mail (Mavericks): If a mailbox is offline
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14925
Lightning bolt icons next to mailboxes in the Mail sidebar identify accounts that are offline.
To take an account online, click the lightning bolt icon. Or choose Mailbox > Online Status > Take [account name] Online, or Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online.
If you can’t take an account online, make sure you’re connected to the Internet. If a warning icon appears after the account name, click it for more information.
    Use Connection Doctor
Some mailbox names can appear dimmed if you don’t have permission to access them, such as “public” mailboxes on a server, or if the mail server is unavailable.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Oracle offline backup in cluster setup

    Dear Experts,
I have installed CRM 2007 on windows and oracle 10g with High availability setup (cluster) and currently in the process of Post-Installation.
As part of post installation, I have to apply support patches. Before that I wanted to take one backup of the system and tried taking the offline backup. My SAP and DB resources are on Node A and before starting the backup I have gone through the "Note 378648 - Offline backup support with Oracle Fail Safe"
and have set the environment varaibles on both Node A and Node B.
Have started the backup from DB13 and initially backup started and DB resource went offline and backup started and files are getting backedup in the path given. But immediately all DB resources came online on Node A and was able to login to SAP. Strange part is even after DB was online backup continued to copy the files in menitoned path and at the end backup completed with errors stating that instance was started during the offline backup and could not start already running instance.
Online backup is working fine. Please suggest how to sort out this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sharath

    Hi,
The good news is that your cluster works perfectly for fail overs !
The bad news is that, there is something wrong in your configuration because the database was not set offline as a cluster ressource. Do you have a standalone gateway on the Oracle node ?
    Regards,
    Olivier

  • SBO 2004 and ActiveX

I heard, that SBO 2004 now supports ActiveX at the UI API. Where can I find an ActiveX sample ? We want to use ActiveX forms, instead of only a control, by this way we will want to be able to use .Net components directly via a WinForm as ActiveX form in a SBO UI form.
I have also read about .Net connectors. Are they available in SBO 2004 ?

Here is a link in the forums "SAP Business ONE" where they talk about this:

  • SboMailer - error 49 (SBO 2007)

    Hi
I've configured sbo mailer with smtp authentication and put proper  user name and password .Connection test passed.
On my user in defalut user settings I've put the same adress ma.il as in sbo mailer. With this settings everything is ok, I can send ma.ils from sap.
But, when I change my ma.il address in default user settings, sending ma.il from sap fails. I've changed only user name in ma.il address, domain part of ma.il address is the same.

    In this note is:
    Reason and Prerequisites
SBO Mailer does not support SMTP Authentication.
Why ? SboMailer 2007 supports SMTP Authentication, SBOmailer 2004 don't support SMTP Authentication, so I think this Note is about SBO 2004.
At the end of this note is:
Please note that from PL 23 of Business One 2005 SP01 there is a new functionality in the SBO mailer, which supports SMTP authentication.
So, I think this note is about SBO 2004, becouse it's telling us that is newer version of SAP with SMTP Authentication.

can not send be-mail os10.9.4 server offline !!

    Hey there mikeneiris,
It sounds like you are not able to send any emails because the account is showing as offline. I recommend these steps from the following article to help you get that going again:

  • Touch 4 / Ipad Offline Enterprise Activation

We just recieved our order of order of Ipads, Ipod Touch 4, and development Mac  for deployment and all of them require activation.  None of these will have internet and network access nor do we want them connected to the internet for our developent purposes.
Is there a way to activate them offline Apple support? Please advise if they can't be activated offline then we will just be forced to use one that does not like the Android platform.

Good luck with that. What part of the minimum requirements, which clearly state an Internet connection is required, did you not understand?
Though that's undoubtedly a stupid question as you apparently can't read above a 3rd grade level since you couldn't figure out this is the iPhone forum. Not the iPad or iPod Touch forum. Or the developers forum for that matter.
