No. Once you have upgraded iPhoto to 9.4.3 launch it with the Option key held down and select each library in order. iPhoto will convert the library to the new version.
As always, be sure you have a backup copy of each library before proceeding.

Only if y can get the iPod out of recovery mode with the program. Otherwise you will have to restore via iTunes which erases the iPod.

Problem got solved, please find the below mentioned steps to resolve.
Steps to Resolve:
1. launch the iTunes app.
2. Connnect iPhone to the Mac.
3. Click on View menu from header file then select "Show Sidebar".
4. Right click on Device on left side pane then select "Transfer perchased"menu.
After the File copying from iPhone to iTunes.

I have been into Icloud and under 'Storage & Backup' and 'Manage Storage', I can see that my last phone was backed up a day before it was broken. I just cant find the option to transfer that data such as all my pictures and videos onto my new phone. My Notes and contacts have just transferred automatically and strangely, my old photo's that were taken and assigned to certain contacts are now assigned to my new phone as was, but they dont appear in my photo library anywhere. Hello again. Just to let you know I have solved the problem. Backed up my new phone. Then wiped all settings and everything off it to start again. When it relaunches it gives you the option to download from Icloud and you can pick from which back-up date you want to download it from. Picked the one from the day before it got trashed and HEY PRESTO, we have all the pictures and videos back!!! Iphone 0 - 1 Voodooboy78

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one. -
Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there? It does not give me a choice, it just says quit or upgrade? p.s. i didn't realise ther was a way to back up my computer beforehand, which i am guessing this is time machine?

What exactly are you trying to do?
Have you been editing photos in iPhoto and want to add them to your camera rool or photo stream?
Then do exactly as the article describes, that you lonked to:
iPhoto for iOS: Photos in Camera Roll are not updated automatically with edits from iPhoto
Use iPhoto's Sharing to save a copy of the edited photo to the Caera Roll, or explain on mor e detail, what you want to do.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 and later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
I just ran my updates for my MacBook Pro and now my iphoto won't open. I get a pop up that say's You can't use this version of the applicaton IPhoto with this version of os x. You have iphoto 9.2.3.

I installed elements 12 on a Win 8.1 computer and moved all my photos from my old XP machine. I updated to elements 12.1. Now, many/most of my photos will not open because I do not have "permission" to open the files. How do I fix this so I can work with MY photos?
Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think? -
