Including  a servlet code within an html file

I have an html file which should include the contents of a servlet. The html and
servlet are reside on different webservers, otherwise I would have used JSP.
I cant use JSP here. hope u will provide me a solution as soon as possible

The best way of doing this would be to make the html page a jsp and use the jstl c:import tage.
If it must be an html you could use the IFrame tabe:
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<IFRAME SRC="http://www.yahoo.com" WIDTH="800" HEIGHT="600" scrolling="auto" frameborder="0"></IFRAME>
</body>
</html>

  • How to I get access to the Captivate object in javascript within an HTML file?

    I'm still struggling with this and would really appreciate any help/guidance you can .
    here's what I've got right now:
    var g_bIsInternetExplorer = navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1;
    document.write("<P><H1> g_bIsInternetExplorer=" + g_bIsInternetExplorer + "</H1></P>");
    document.write("<P><H1> setting objCP....</H1></P>");
    var objCp = g_bIsInternetExplorer ? Captivate : document.Captivate;
    document.write("<P><H1> set objCP....</H1></P>");
    var description = objCp.cpEIGetValue("m_VarHandle.cpInfoDescription");
    document.write("<P><H1> description=" + description + "</H1></P>");
    I've published the captivate project.. I then launch it and then launch the html file that has this code in it
    It does everyting up thru and including line 3
    But it seems to fail on line 4..
    Any ideas /suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Jim - thank you thank you thank you
    Here's what was up with my code:
    This worked:
    alert("about to set objCP...");
    var objCp = document.Captivate;
    alert("completed setting of objCP, about to set get cpInfoDescription...");
    var description = objCp.cpEIGetValue("m_VarHandle.cpInfoDescription");
    alert("description=" + description);
    This did NOT work:
    document.write("<P><H1> AT BEGINNING </H1></P>");
    alert("about to set objCP...");
    var objCp = document.Captivate;
    alert("completed setting of objCP, about to set get cpInfoDescription...");
    var description = objCp.cpEIGetValue("m_VarHandle.cpInfoDescription");
    alert("description=" + description);
    ====
    I'm guessing the 2nd didn't work because i tried to get the captivate object AFTER the script wrote something to an HTML file.  I'm ultimately trying to get Captivate to generate a report for the user to report out what they did in response to the various quiz questions in the course (in HTML in table).   I've posted a query on how to do this here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5120417#5120417
    Any chance you could take a look at this posting and let me know your thoughts on how best to do this .. It seems like this would be a fairly common thing to do .. It comes stock in Articulate Storyline (through their 'Report.HTML') but I haven't found a comparable one in Captivate.
    Thanks again!

  • Use PHP code coloring in HTML files

    In Dreamweaver CS3, what changes do I need to make to get PHP
    code coloring show up in .html files?

    robot88888888,
    First, copy this file from the app config folder:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS3\configuration\CodeColoring\PHP.xml
    To the user config folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration\CodeColoring\
    Then open PHP.xml in your favorite editor. You need to add
    HTML to all
    of the doctype lists Change every occurrence of this:
    doctypes="PHP_MySQL"
    to be:
    doctypes="PHP_MySQL,HTML"
    Save and close. If DW is running, close it. Now restart DW.
    HTH,

  • Automator/AppleScript for adding code to an html file

    Hi all,
    I have a bunch of files (60+) that have been converted from xml to html so that they can be read by the calibre eBook software. Because they were originally .xml files, they do not have opening or closing htiml or body tags. They won't open in Word, only textedit. I am looking for a way to insert the <html> <body> and </body> </html> codes into each file as quickly/painlessly as possible, ideally as a workflow, or series of workflows, that I could use later with other files of this type.
    Can anyone advise me on how to do this? I'm new at coding/applescript/automator, but I'm generally a quick study.

    This is an applescript version which should be a little more comprehensible.
    -- select files - might be easier ways to do this depending on your setup
    set fileList to choose file with prompt "Choose files to wrap in HTML tags" with multiple selections allowed
    -- loop through files
    repeat with thisFile in fileList
      -- open the file for writing
              set fp to open for access thisFile with write permission
      -- grab contents of file and wrap it in tags
              set unmodifiedText to read fp
              set modifiedText to "<html>" & return & "<body>" & return & unmodifiedText & return & "</body>" & return & "</html>"
      -- write the new text out to the file and close it.
              set eof of fp to 0
              write modifiedText to fp
              close access fp
    end repeat

  • How i can use ExportPDF in java code to get html files as PDF?

    I need to use ExportPDF in java code to export my html to PDF and save that in my local system.

    Yes, it's not a service for automating. Automating Acrobat is a possibility (though awkward), or there are server products.

  • Html files with included php: related files, code color?

    Hi there,
    Wow, what an active forum!
    I have two questions about html files that include php.
    Almost all my html files have this structure:
    <?php
    (php stuff)
    require_once 'somefile.php';
    ?>
    (html stuff)
    My first question is, is there any way for DW CS4 to display the files included this way? At the moment, they don't show up in related file view.
    My second question is, is there any way for DW CS4 to display the html and php code in the file in a pleasant way? The php is not red as it is in pure php files.
    Definitely not wanting to change the way I code or to change the file extensions...
    Instead, wanting to change the SW settings to make my work easier.
    With gratitude,
    Smiles
    Andy

    Hi Brad,
    Thanks for your reply!
    > The PHP coding in a regular HTML page likely won't even work in a  browser
    That's a standard coding technique...LOL... Maybe I didn't explain correctly...
    My hundreds of pages validate XHTML transitional...
    You are quite right that browsers do not interpret php code, but the  browser never sees php code.
    I will try to explain again
    The html file starts with <? php (code> ?>
    When the browser calls the html file, the server knows to process the file as php.
    It processes the php, then returns some html headers, and follows up with all the html that is after the <? php (code> ?> section.
    Thousands of php coders work like this.It's a very efficient way of building a modular website while keeping html extensions.
    By the way, related files already show in CS4 if they are in the html code.
    Are you 100% sure you are correct about the CS5 inclusion situation? You won't know unless you have built an html file that looks like this.
    <?php
    require_once 'myfile.php'>
    ?>
    <body>
    hello html
    </body>
    Your myfile.php might look like this:
    <?php
    echo 'hello php <br />';
    ?>
    If you have never used php in an html file, you will probably need to add something like this to your .htaccess file:
    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php .htm .html
    It tells your server that php processes not only php files but also html files.
    Warmest wishes to all,
    Andy

  • How to include HTML file in JSP using HTML elements or Javascript?

    Hi,
    I have around 15000 static html files one for each item which we display each upon invoking an item.The HTML file should be part of a JSP file.
    Please note that the name of the HTML file is determined dynamically
    Placing all the HTML files within the web application does not give us good performance so i would like to put all of them in the webserver.
    I am not able to include the file in the JSP using the jsp:include attribute if i place the HTML files in the webserver ,
    in order to do that i think should use either HTML element or javascript to include the HTML in the JSP.is there any alternative to <Jsp:include>
    Does anyone have an idea how to include the HTML file and take advan tage of webserver?
    Any ideas are appreciated

    What you need to do is simply read the HTML file from the disk and dump it out to the outputstream. It really is that simple.
    There's no reason you need to include all 15000 files in the actual WAR, you can place those files any place handy that is easy for the application to see (in another directory, or accessible from a file server if you have multiple front ends).
    Then, just write a utiility function that takes the output stream (i.e. the 'out' JSP variable), and the file name, read the file, and write it to the stream.
    If you start noticing performance issues, then you can try doing some caching, but truth is your OS should be doing that for you.
    But, truth be told that's the only practical way to do it.
    Another solution would be to use JavaScriipt and XMLHttpRequest (i.e "AJAX") to load the file at the client side, and simply replace a tag with the results.
    That's also pretty trivial to write, any web site talking about AJAX should give you hint there.
    Of course, that won't work for folks who have JavaScript turned off, or some other incompatible browser, whereas the server side solution obviously works everywhere.

    JLundan,
    I want to thank you for responding to the thread I started on the forum at java.sun.com. Your solution to my problem of needing to print the code of the html pages that the file I included generates was just what I was looking for. However, I have some further questions to ask, if you don't mind. To clarify my task I should say that your rephrasing of the problem is accurate: "You wan't to display the contents of the HTML file that the web server produces in response of client's request?"
    Yes, this is what I need to do, but also it needs to display the source code of that html file that the server produces in response to the client's request. Also, in this case, I am the client requesting that the server return some html file, and I'm not sure where the server is. But the webserver.java file that I shared on the forum is on my local machine. I was wondering if I could modify this webserver.java file at my home so that any html file the server returns to me would automatically display the source code. This is a school project of mine and I am stuck on this one thing here.
    Further, where would I put the "foo.html" file so it can be written to?
    FileOuputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("foo.html");
    fos.write(bytes);
    fos.close();
    Thanks so much for your help. I look forward to your response, at your convenience.

  • Extension to Force DW to Recognize PHP in HTML files

    Hi there,
    I've got several sites that use PHP code blocks embedded
    within plain .html files. It's an apache server and I simply use
    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php in the .htaccess file to tell
    the server to parse them for PHP.
    It works fine for these sites where we don't want to change
    URLs by modifying filenames.
    However, Dreamweaver doesn't treat these PHP code blocks as
    PHP (with one exception, which I'll get to). Instead, it displays
    the code block as plain text, without code coloring or code hints.
    It also doesn't provide the "Insert > PHP Objects" option from
    the insert menu.
    I'd like to find a way to get Dreamweaver to treat the PHP
    code in these files properly, but I haven't found an extension that
    could do it.
    The one exception I mentioned above is with PHP includes.
    When I have a PHP include, Dreamweaver displays it as "Server
    Markup" in the properties box, without the filename selection or
    edit properties you get with an actual .php file.
    However, the "related files" bar does correctly show the
    included file (I'm using CS4), so on some level, DW seems to know
    that it is a PHP code block.
    I'm hoping this is either an existing extension that I wasn't
    able to find when I searched the libray, or that it's a
    functionality I could enable myself without an extension if I'm
    given the right direction to look.
    Anybody have any thoughts on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jade

  • IS there code to avoid policy file push in a VeriSign Signed applet?

    Q: Must a digtally signed ( thus Trusted) Applet have some some security code scripts -within the applet- to read specific "out of SandBox Permission" which have been Granted in the users Java.Policy file.
    Actually at first I thought the applet was not finding the users Java.Policy file so I hard coded the permission below into the standard java.policy file just to test it but no luck.
    I have the following Java Applet code which is digitally signed against a Versigin Class3 Code Signing Certificate in the Trusted root. SO I kow the applet runs..
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.*;

    String UserName="";
    try {
    UserName = System.getProperty("user.name");
    catch (SecurityException e) {
    return UserName;
    I Keep getting the security exception error when I try to read User.name property
    Here is the text of the Java.Policy file which is placed in the users home directory

    We cannot use the Java Plugin (company Rules) so you
    are saying I must modify the original java.policy
    file and without the Plugin the IE 5.5 VM will notWell, i have to say that if u r not using the java plugin, then there is no need for the policy file and u have to use the VM of the browser.I dont think the browser will support the latest version of java and so u have to write your code according the java 1.0 version. Mircosoft have not updated their java jvm due to issues with sun.
    Can u give me the code of the html file where u include the applet tags and let me have a look at it.
    if u plan to use the applet in IE and signed, then u have to use the CAB file utility which can be downloaded from the microsofft site. A signed cab file can run on IE only.Signed Jar can be run in plugins and netscape .
    Let me know if u need further help.

  • Include external servlet

    How can I include an external Servlet from within a JSP-file?
    When I try
    <jsp:include page="http://host:8080/CTX-2_1/myservlet/" >
         <jsp:param name="action" value="getTypes" />
    </jsp:include>When I call "http://localhost:8080/triopsys-GIS/index.jsp", the screen displays; The requested resource (/triopsy-GIS/http://host:8080/CTX-2_1/myservlet/) is not available...so this is probably not the way to do it?

    I made a local servlet, containing;
    req.getRequestDispatcher("http://host:8080/CTX-2_1/myservlet/").forward(req, res);-> that didn't work... (it still tried to redirect within the context)
    This code looks like it works, but it doesn't call the servlet
    res.sendRedirect("http://host:8080/CTX-2_1/myservlet/");(no error or anything)

  • How Do I Use the Help Tag/Help Path in LabVIEW to Link to a Specific tag in an HTML File?

    George,
    I believe you are correct in saying that there is no way to link directly to a specific anchor tag within an html file from the context help.
    I would encourage you to visit our Product Suggestion Center if this is a feature you would like to recommend that our R&D team consider for future versions of LabVIEW.
    Is it possible for you to create a .chm file?  Or perhaps you could have some kind of "table of contents" at the top of your .html help file.  This would require an extra click by the user but may be an option for you.

  • How to run an applet(in a html file) in the server?

    I am using the jpedal Viewer inmy code, I embedded the applet code

         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)"
    What is the problem ?
    Please suggest solution for it?
    Its urgent

    I am trying to run the Applet in Tomcat server,
    Could you post the code where you invoke the Applet? It sounds like you're saying you're trying to run the Applet as part of your server-side code. The other interpretation is that you are simply accessing the Applet through the browser that happens to be on the machine being used as the server.
    Like I say, post the code that shows how you're trying to use the Applet "on the server".
