Increase memory allowed to a program?

Hi,
Is it possible to increase the amount of virtual memory allowed for a particular program? I am running a big analysis (on a macbook with MAC OS 10.4) and my program tells me that I need to increase my memory to perform the analysis?
thanks,
seb

Hi Seb,
Nope, it's all taken care of automatically in OSX, (unless you're speaking of a "Classic" OS9 APP), what it likely means is that your HD is running critically low on free space.
How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

  • How to increase memory allowed for an application

Before in OS 9 and below we can expand the quantity of memory for an application, we can't do same in OS X.
OS X is able to set himself the amount of memory for an application. This seems to work but I think there is a limit sets by OS X.
My question is how to increase this amount of memory ?
I tried to increase it in terminal using "ulimit -d unlimited" but this is not working enough.
I use to do calculation with matrix systems and iterations in Mapple software but on my iMac with 4 GB of RAM memory, when application reaches 450 MB, I get a memory error message. Activity monitor at same time says there is more than 2 GB free !
Has somebody a solution to free this limit, even for a small time or for only an application ?
    Thanks for your help.

You should save this worksheet and restart Maple
Executing commands in Mapple requires a connection to the Maple kernel.
Firewalls have been known to cause problems with kernel connections in Maple. Please ensure that any firewall software is configured to allow Maple to create connections to the kernel. Consul the FAQ for more information."
I checked the firewalls of OS X, they are shutdown and no restrictions seems to be set for processes.
We are expecting for a new version of Maple with some modifications due to Snow.

  • Payment method(s) are not allowed for this program / Program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM

    Dear Friends,
In Se38  abap editor, I entered the program RFFOM100, i entered the details program run date, identification future, paying company code, payment methods T, House bank, Account Id and executed the program. I am getting the error 'Payment method(s) are not allowed for this program'.
Payment method S is not used in F110, It was not mentioned in vendor master or vendor invoice. It is not mentioned in fbzp in bank determination. When i tried to delete payment method 'S' the system shows a message Payment Method S is being used in the company code.
In  the program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM, i entered the details program run date, identification future, paying company code, payment methods T, House bank, Account Id and executed the program. I am getting the error  'Program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM: No records selected'. But there open items or invoices.
Please suggest how to resolve the errors.
    Regards
    Sridhar

    Hello,
Why are you directly executing these programs?
You will not expect these program to execute directly by going to SE38.
I would have configured the relevant payment methods in the country with DME structure or classical RFFO* programs, which in turn pick up the inherent programs at the time of running F110.
For example, if you need to generate BACS file for country GB, either you copy the GB_BACS to ZGB_BACS or use GB_BACS directly in FBZP settings.
Make sure that you have maintained OBPM1 / OBPM2 / OBPM3 and OBPM4 settings properly.
The system automatically gives the access to system RFFOAVIS_FPAYM. Prepare a variant against this program in F110. Relevant file gets generated to folder path mentioned in OBPM4 will get generated. The file get generated can be seen in AL11.
Hope this is informative and solves your issue.
    Regards,
    Ravi

CreateRow increases memory and cpu. Tomcat+ADF Faces+BC4J in JDev 10.1.3.0.4
My old problem is this Ineffectiveness/Inconsistency BC4J createrow in tomcat, CPU = 100%,Mem=2.2G
I have tested my Adf Faces application with jmx in server and, in my machine, jconsole and mc4j.
When cpu=100% and memory increases, jconsole constantly returned similar trace:
In all trace, I see that common is:
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.populateRow(QueryCollection.java:2203)
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.fetch(QueryCollection.java:2088)
Therefore, I believe that function populateRow make infinity loop (or fuction fech make infinity loop, called populateRow), but I don’t know populteRow or fetch code.

  • How to I get rid of pop up user account control "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer" I have windows 7 professional.

I keep getting an annoying pop up the says "User Account Control" "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer"
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Two days after I downloaded Firefox and set as my default browser.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.

  • "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?" I get this message in a box everytime I open firefox. I answer "Yes" but it continues. Please help.

"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?". I get this message everytime I open Firefox. I select "Yes" and then the program opens. However, I continue to get this question everytime I open firefox. Please help.

  • "Do you want to allow the following program..." Message

After installing iTunes 9.2 on my Windows 7 (64bit) laptop, every time I attempt to open iTunes it gives me a message asking "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?". Clicking yes leads the programme to open, but the message appears every single time upon opening.
Also, when iTunes is minimized to the task bar, it will not open and maximize, and doesn't appear as one the applications running on the task manager and must be shut down through the processes.
I have uninstalled all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes multiple times as well as moved all my music off my computer.
    Any ideas on a solution?

Many thanks. I think we'd better try rebuilding your iTunes preference files in the account that is getting the errors.
For the basic technique, see the *Remove iTunes Preference files* section of the *User-specific troubleshooting* section of the following document:
[iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717]
*Prior to doing the preference file rebuilds:* Best to make a note of any custom preferences you have set up for your iTunes. (Rebuilding pref files returns preferences to their defaults ... so you'll likely have to set some of those custom preferences up again from scratch.) Also make a note of any third-party plugins/add-ons you have installed. You may have to reinstall those after the rebuilds.
*Things to watch out for during the rebuilds*
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Local\ location causes the iTunes license agreement to run. So you'll need to agree to that again.
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Roaming\ location causes the iTunes Setup Assistant to run. When prompted to do so, *do not* add files to your iTunes library. (Otherwise you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.)
... are those measures of any help with the launch error and the maximising troubles in your usual user account, sana?

  • "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" I mean....what would you do? Is it safe to click yes....(Don Don Don...*sound effect*)..please help...

Okay everybody...so I'm on the struggle bus so I'm going from Photoshop cs6 off my old broken laptop to trying to dwn Photoshop Cs2...either way I love PS. Now when I tried downloading it for free from Adobe...succeeded...but when I went to the download folder to install it, it said "Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" I mean....what would you do? Is it safe to click yes....(Don Don Don...*sound effect*)..please help...

If you already have a license for photoshop cs6, why do you want photoshop cs2?
You can just install photoshop cs6 on your new computer provided both operating systems are the same kind (both mac or both windows)
If you don't have an install dvd for cs6, you can download photoshop cs6 from here and use your serial:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html

  • Every time I try to log on I get: "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"

A few days ago I started getting the following message EVERY time I try to log on:
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer: It lists FF and Mozilla Corp.
I have to click "Yes" EVERY time and then it my Comcast homepage appears.
    I have a PC using Windows 7.
In addition, when my homepage does appear, the 3 little icons in the upper right do not appear. (Minimize, X)

A possible cause of this error is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.
Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

  • Reg msg "Payment method(s) are not allowed for this program".

    Hi...
I am copying a standard program RFFOES_T (Print program for bank transfer) into a custom program. When i try to execute the custom program it gives me a msg saying
"Payment method(s) are not allowed for this program".
Can you please Provide a solution for this problem.
    Regards,
    Indira.

    Indira,
1.RFFOES_T is using Logical database PYF.Seems you have copied it as it is without changing the attributes of the program.
2.As it is using logical database PYF  it needs to be tagged to the respective payment methods in FBZP settings as below
    FBZP
    >>Payment methods in Country
    >> in the next screen click on position and give the company code and payment method
    >> in the next screen select the corresponding payment method and click on the details(ctrlshiftf2) ie magnifying glass icon
    >>in the next screen  within  Payment Medium you will get to see two radio buttons as Payment medium workbench(uses DMEE tree structure)  and payment medium programs (uses the standard prog). Here in Payment medium Program either the standard prog or your zprogram should be tagged otherwise you will get the error message as you mentioned.
3.Once you tag the program in the FBZP setting to the respective payment methods, after the payment run you will be able to run the program.
4.If you don't want the program to be linked to FBZP settings then as far as my knowledge is concerned you need to avoid using logical database PYF and change the entire code using the regular database tables like reguh, regup, bkpf, bseg etc.(I think this should be the best approach)
    Thanks,
    K.Kiran.

  • There is not enough free memory to run this program

    Hi all,
I am running into an issue with OfficeXP SP3 that has been virtualized using ZAV 8.0.1 and registered using the msi method. First, when you try to open a document from a web browser (Firefox in my case) it will open the downloads window and show the file but never launch the virtualized Office. Then if you try double-clicking on the document in the downloads window, nothing happens. If you open the folder that the document was saved to and double-click on it nothing happens. If you go into open with and choose the virtualized officexp it gives this error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again."
Now here is the really odd thing, you can double-click on a word/excel/etc document in MyDocuments, a network drive, anywhere and it will open the appropriate officexp application just fine. I will also mention that firefox is virtualized as well but the same process works fine with openoffice.org.
This also happens if you choose to save the file to a specific location. It cannot be opened. However I just discovered that if you move it to somewhere else, say the desktop, it will open just fine.
Anyone have an idea what might be causing this issue? Is it somehow related to the sandbox?
    Thanks,

Look in the class section of the registry for the FF virt app... See if some of the same extentions are in there.
I would guess that FF has its own file associations for those document types and that is whats failing.
If you remove the file association conents (but leave the folder and set isoation to writecopy) then the FF virt should be able to view and use the workstation file associations for the virt XP.

  • How do I get rid of 'Do you want to allow the following program..."?

I have recently installed Windows 7 on a new computer and have also installed Dreamweaver MX.
Whenever I open Dreamweaver, it comes up with an annoying message "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?"
My question is this - how can I get Windows 7 to recognise Dreamweaver MX so that this message does NOT come up anymore?
Or do I have to upgrade my Dreamweaver to the latest version (probably quite expensive).
To see a screenshot of a similar message, see this thread:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/14310-how-get-rid-do-you-want-allow.html
    Thank you

    Thank you
As Murray stated, it's been about 8 years.  Adobe only allows you to upgrade from the previous 3 versions.  Right now they are on CS5 (11) which means you can upgrade from Dreamweaver 8 which is 2 versions after yours.  So you would have to buy the full version again.  Buying the upgrade is no longer an option.

  • How do I get rid of "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer"?

I recently installed Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and every time I open a PDF file that is stored on my computer, I get a pop-up that asks "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?".  How do I get rid of this?  I don't want to change my security settings, I just want to open pdf's without having to go through this step.
    I'm using Windows 7.

Thanks for that good idea.  I checked the "properties" by right clicking on the AA8 icon and under "compatability" I noticed it had Windows XP (Service Pack 3).  Since I'm running Windows 7, I changed it to that and now I don't get that annoying pop-up!
