Increment export/import best way

Hi,
i want to schedule the database backup thru oracle export utility. And database version is 10g (standard edition)
1) one full backup (Complete) in a day after that increment backup after every hour in a day (as my database is small in size)
what are steps i have to do to implement this
2) Is it possible to import this data and how, what are the steps require to import this data in other database.
Thanks

  • Incremental export/import replacement

    Hi,
Please help me with following task:
    a. A daily incremental export from a 9.2.0.3 database.
    b. Import into a 10.2.0.4 database.
Since incremental exp/imp is no longer available for 9i and 10g, does Oracle have a replacement for this functionality? Does RMAN incremental backup/restore able to do the same thing (cross version recovery)? Or any other way to do this?
Thank you very much in advance.

I'm still confused at the point of this test... If you are running data entry applications in parallel against both databases, why would the two databases be out of sync at the end of the day? Wouldn't the final test be that the two systems didn't require manual resynchronization? If you're going to replace all the data in the new database at the end of the day if it doesn't match what was in the old database, you're defeating the purpose of running any non-reporting application against the new database.
If you want to replace all the data in a particular set of tablespaces, you could certainly use transportable tablespaces. That would discard all the data in those tablespaces in the 10g database every day, which as I mentioned above seems rather odd if you're trying to run a parallel production environment. You could also configure replication between the systems via Streams or materialized views which would only replicate changes.

  • What is the best way to import and export footage from the 5D Mark II?

    Hello,
I've just finished shooting what I am considering to be my directorial masterpiece.  Shot it on the Canon 5D (1080p, 24fps), and the footage looks amazing.  Now I am ready to start editing and have been using premiere lately, but I have yet to figure out the proper pipeline.  I want to know the best way to retain resolution before I delve into this project.
    My questions:
    1)  What is the best way to start a new project and import the footage without having to render whilst editing, so as to retain all resolution and originality of the source footage?
    2)  What is the best way/ codec/ format to export this same footage once editing is complete so as to retain that crisp 1080p for which the 5D is so recognized?
    3)  What is the best way/ codec/ format to import and export/ render between premiere and after effects?  I am speaking mostly of vfx and color correction.  I also have some 30fps footage that I intend to slow down in AE and then import into premiere.
I know this is pretty broad, but as a solo filmmaker I really need someone's guidance.  I rarely ever finish my films with the same, crisp look as the footage.  I need pipeline help, and really appreciate it!

    1. Follow the advice above. Also use the Media Browser to import the footage in case you have spanned media files. Import files with the Media Browser.
    2. It largely depends on what you wish to ouput to: Blu-ray, web, etc. This FAQ gives the best answer: What are the best export settings?
    3. Use the Replace with Adobe After Effects Composition function.

  • Best way to Export/Import Workspace/Applications

    Hello Gurus,
I am moving servers and wanted to know the best way to Move Workspaces/applications.
    I am on 10G R2 and Application Express 3.0.1.
I have created a database on the new server.
Installed http server. Installed Application Express.
I can get into application express using the admin password.
On the database side I have 3 tablespaces and 3 Oracle schemas.
On the Application Express side I have 3 workspaces that are linked to
    the 3 Oracle Schemas.
I imported (Oracles Import) one of the Schemas.
If I get into Application Express and try to import the Workspace it gives
me an error'Workspace will not be created because it already exists.'
Will importing a workspace import all the applications in the workspace.
    Dhiren

Did you export the workspace to a file and then try to import it when you got that message? What is the name of the workspace? I don't know why you would get that error in a newly installed Application Express unless you tried to manually create a workspace with that name somehow before you tried the import.
Anyway, you might want to re-install and start over by (1) exporting each workspace to a file, (2) importing each workspace from those files into the new instance, and (3) do the same export/import cycle for each application from old to new instances, for each workspace. Workspace export/import does not include applications or anything except the workspace name, the schema list, and the user accounts. You may want to export/import css, static files, images, UI defaults, and themes too, if you want to carry those over.

  • Best way to Export/Import

I am developing my application in Company environment. Whenever I posted in forums, helpers asked credentials on apex.oracle.com. Roel mentioned to create a sql file with all your data definitions (tables, packages etc) and data. But he did not have a chance to do how and I could not figure out.
    I founded the export option:
Home>Application Builder>Application> Export/ImportWhen I exported it to local computer, I did not get any error message.
Moreover, I have an error message when I imported it.

    Dear Mr. Charlie McNeil,
I would like to clarify concerning my post.
We also have DEV, QA environments.
    We can export using Export:
    Home>Application Builder>Application Number>Export / Import
    We can import application using:
    Home>Application Builder>Import
h3. Within own environment, there is no problem to export/import.
    Let me restate my post.
I am looking for help to copy and paste an APEX application onto apex.oracle.com.
I attempted several times and I got couple errors.

  • What is the best way to import and edit a large amount of footage?

    Hello Apple world,
As a newbie to Final Cut 10 I have a question regarding best ways to import footage. I'll give you a quick run down.
I have a 150 gig of gopro footage that I just hit 'import' to recently (from my external HD), it took around 10 hours to process it all.
Its all under one event, but then somewhat organised into dates etc. But it is very slow. I imported it all at once because it was all footage from the last 6 months of my Whistler/states/fiji trip and want to make a movie out of it, using clips from all over the time, not just in chronological order.
I have the latest mac book pro, 4 gig ram,2.4 GHz i7, 750 hard drive, with nothing else on the computer.
Ive read about creating proxy media, after ive imported, but am still somewhat confused as to the benefit. Does it create duplicates? that will fill up my pretty large HD as it is!
Can you suggest any ways that might make my laptop run a bit faster? Should i delete and work directly from external HD etc etc?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance
    Harlee

  • What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?

    Hi All
What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?
    Release: 11.5.8
OS: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit) verison 9
    DB: 9.2.0.1
    Thanks in advance

What kind of data you are looking to move?
Database export/import is only supported for full database export/import and the application release should be the same on the source/target nodes.
You can move the setup using iSetup or FNDLOAD.

  • What is the best way to import pictures from Lightroom 5 into FCP X

What is the  best way to transfer pictures from Lightroom 5 into Final Cut Pro X?

There is no one best way.  If, for instance, you want to be able to zoom into the picture with a Ken Burns effect then you may want to save out a very high res version that will be larger than your video resolution. Just use Lightroom to export a jpg file wherever you want it. You could export it into the Events folder and then choose not to copy it when you import it within FCPx. You could import the picture into iPhoto and then access it directly from within FCPx. Those are two simple, "regular" ways to get it into FCPx but if you are not going to Ken Burns the image by zooming into it and such you will want to crop it in Lightroom to the same size you will be using ie if you are making 720HD video then crop the image to that size and proportion before you export it from Lightroom.

  • What is the best way to import pictures from iPhoto without compression?

I'm trying to create a slide show using Final Cut Pro. No, I'm not interested in using iDVD slide show function because it doesn't allow me to do a whole lot. I would like to add titles and music for certain segments with video inserted here and there.
Anyway, when I used the slide show function in iPhoto, exported it out as a quick movie file, and then imported it into Final Cut Pro, I noticed a significant downgrade in quality of images. It obviously looks different from when I play the slide show in iPhoto. What would be the best way to import pictures into Final Cut Pro without any compression?
    Thanks in advance.

I only see Share > Export.
Some versions of iPhoto work that way -it's just Apple moving things around.
what's the difference between exporting it from iPhoto then import it into FCP vs. just importing directly from FCP?
Your first post mentioned exporting a slide show from iPhoto -I assumed that is where your images are stored.
I do not want to import pictures one by one...
You don't have to. iPhoto will let you select as many as you want, or if the images are elsewhere, you can also select multiple files from FCP's Import dialog.
    ...and stick them together manually.
Editing is an art and involves some effort on your part. It is not an automated process. This method opens up far more possibilities, access to filters and color correction and the opportunity to use Motion for even more sophisticated animation.
But, it only allows me to export it as 720 x 480. The original size of my photos is 3872 x 2592. Is there any way I can create a quicktime file in the original size?
You should be aware that 3872 x 2592 is not a standard pixel aspect ratio that is used in video. The images will be resized to the Sequence settings that you set up in Final Cut Pro.
I have never used iPhoto to make a slideshow before, but I just gave it a try and was able to export one with the images in their native size, simply by typing the pixel dimensions into the boxes in the dialog window:
I don't have PhotoMagico myself, but it comes highly recommended by several of the forum regulars.
Perhaps one of them will see this discussion and help with your last question.

  • The best way to import photos from Picasa to iPhoto

    Hi,
Many of my friends share their pictures online using picasa. Sometimes, I'd like to copy these pictures to keep a backup offline. As a software, I use iPhoto; not picasa. What is the best way to import pictures from picasa to iPhoto?
I first tried to subscribe to the RSS feed using iPhoto and then copy the pictures from there to my library, but then the dates of the pictures are set wrong: instead of indicating when the picture was shot, it indicates some other date (I guess it indicates the date when the picture was uploaded to picasa).
Then I decided to install the software picasa.app. From the webalbum of my friends, I could download the pictures directly to picasa.app. Then I exported them to the desktop, and from there imported them to iPhoto. The dates where set correctly, but I lost all the titles and comments of the pictures.
Do you have any method to download the pictures while keeping both the dates and the titles correctly?
    Thanx!

There is a direct option in Organizer which lets you import from iPhoto. This is under Import dropdown menu in left panel.
If you are importing from iPhoto'09, your Tags, Albums Events, captions, star rating would also get imported apart from your media. This works differently for iPhoto'011 where you can get only the media to the Organizer,
Just a couple of things to know:
    1. If in iPhoto preferences, you have chosen to create copies of your photos in iPhoto library and your library hence refers to the media store inside the library package, then on importing from iPhoto, Organizer would create copies of all those media under your pictures folder. That means, it would not corrupt your iPhoto package or modify it in any way.
    2. However, if in iPhoto, you are organizing by using references to original location on your Hard drive i.e. you are not creating copies of media in iPhoto library then on importing from iPhoto to Organizer, the Organizer would also use the same references and would not create copies of the media.
    Hope that helps!
    ~V

  • Best way to export from Motion 2 into Final Cut Pro 5, working in DV?

I am working in DV in Final Cut Pro 5, and I would like to get the best quality from anything I bring in from Motion 2 into Final Cut Pro 5, I keep hearing use the Animation codec. I would like to hear from the Panel of experts.
    Happy Thanksgiving,
    Sebastian

The Best way is to round-trip from FCP. Or simply import the .motn file directly into FCP. If you require an alpha channel and for some reason don't want to bring the .motn file in, Animation with millions+ for the colors (+ is the alpha channel) will work, But if you just want straight DV, you should export a DV file.

  • Best way to export from FCP X to iDVD?

I believe this question must have been dealt with a number of times already but since I could not find a clear answer with a reasonable amount of searching I post my question here.
I have Apple ProRes 422 footage (HD 1920 x 1080) in FCP X out of which I would like to make a DVD in iDVD. What is the best way of transferring the content to iDVD so as to preserve the quality as good as possible?
As I understand it, two conversions need to take place until the material can end up on a DVD disk:
    1) The format needs to be changed from ProRes to MPEG-2
    2) The resolution needs to be reduced from 1920 x 1080 to 720 x 576
And I believe there are at least the following ways to achieve this:
    a) Export the material as-is (ProRes 1920 x 1080) from FCP and let iDVD do the conversion to MPEG-2 720 x 576
    b) Export the material with lowered resolution (720 x 576) from FCP but let iDVD do the conversion to MPEG-2
    c) Export the material as-is to Compressor and let Compressor do the conversion to MPEG-2 720 x 576, which is then imported to iDVD
Now, what is the best method to perform these transformations from a quality perspective (don't care that much about processing time)?
I guess it would be good to not reencode the material more than once. Option a) would seem to achieve this but how good is the quality of the reencoding that iDVD does? Option c) could also achieve this and possibly with a better quality than a). However, I'm unsure whether iDVD really would use the material "as-is" without further conversion or whether iDVD anyway would do some sort of reencoding even if the material was imported in a DVD compliant format. And with option b) I'm unsure how much quality I lose if the rescaling and reencoding is done in separate processes.
    Thanks for the advice!

Either a) or b) is fine.
However, c) will not work with iDVD, which wants a muxed file. The Compressor presets were designed ith DVD Studio Pro in mind.
I would let iDVD do the encoding and the resizing. In other words, give it a 1080 resolution Pro Res file with square pixel shape and it will do all the necessary math to preserve the wide screen aspect ratio (changing the pixel shape) and should produce very good looking image quality if you use the Professional quality setting.
    Good luck.

  • Best way to export iPhoto library?

    Hey folks,
I was wondering what is the best way to export all the master/unedited images I have in my iPhoto 11' collection just to have it all in the Photos folder. I would like to start making the move to Lightroom 4 and give it a test drive. It would be nice to keep the organizational structure that I have going on now in iPhoto with my events. Can any one help? If Lightroom doesnt work out for me, I would want to make a referenced iPhoto Library and keep the images in the photos folder. Thanks for the help.

Have a look at my first post on this thread, which predates that export option in iPhoto, that pretty much deals with the issue with older versions. One of those options is free.
I'm just kind of irked by the idea that you should treat folders and files on your own computer as untouchable.
There are a couple of ways to look at this.
One: they're not at all untouchable. You have described perfectly how you might touch them. What we're saying is that touching them in that way may cause you dataloss, but if you want to do that, knock yourself out . But know the risks you're running. Look at it this way: there's no reason you have to use the doors on your car. You can jump through the sunroof, but don't be surprised if you hurt yourself on the gearstick.
Two: If you're the kind of person who really needs to visit with your files and folders for some reason, then run a referenced library. It makes for more work, adds zero extra capability and is likely to store up issues for the inexperienced user, but it's quite possible. For more about how, and the pitfalls:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3062728?tstart=0
Three: The bigger issue here is that you're going to have problems in the future. The files/folders metaphor is going away in computing now. Everything - even text editors - are becoming databases. The files are just dumb storage, the important part is the data - the actual photos. iPhoto is about the data, not the files. The Finder is about files.
These two user tips explain this is more detail:
