Error in initializing the database engine
Hi everyone,
We are currently facing a problem while trying to login the MDM repository. Earlier we got the WinSock error after that we were not able to login to the repository, afterwards we try to remount tyhe server but it showing the following error "ERROR IN INITIALIZING THE DATABASE ENGINE". If anyone has any clues/relative answers please help, its very urgent. We think this is due to the some problem in the database, we are currently using Oracle 10g.
Full Points will be given to helpful answers.Hi Tejas,
We are also in a similar spot now.
Can you pls guide us how you solved your problem. Hope we can use your expertise here.
Thanks,

While initializing the database in adobe livecycle es
Hi,
Would you suggest me that while initializing the database I'm having the following error:
Failed on retriewing task from server.
ALC-TTN-109-000:Could not establish a valid connect to server:[Unexpected end to file from server].
To resolve this proble what should I want to do?
Please help me on this.The host can be identified a number of ways...
1) Right-click om My Computer > Properties > Computer Name > Change
2) At a Command prompt enter 'echo %COMPUTERNAME%'
3) At a Command prompt enter 'ipconfig' and get the IP address for the local area connection
4) If you have the TCP/IP loopback interface adapter installed, it is typically configured for IP 127.0.0.1. To validate, go to a Command prompt enter 'ping 127.0.0.1'.
5) host name resolution my be configured for 'localhost'. To validate, go to a Command prompt enter 'ping localhost'.
There are common port number used by each application server. For JBoss it is commonly port 8080.

Best way to load initial TimesTen database
I have a customer that wants to use TimesTen as a pure in-memory database. This IMDB has about 65 tables some having data upwards of 6 million rows. What is the best way to load this data? There is no cache-connect option being used. I am thinking insert is the only option here. Are there any other options?
thanskYou can also use the TimesTen ttbulkcp command line utility, this tool is similar to SQL*Loader except it handles both import and export of data.
For example, the following command loads the rows listed in file foo.dump into a table called foo in database mydb, placing any error messages into the file foo.err.
ttbulkcp -i -e foo.err dsn=mydb foo foo.dump
For more information on the ttbulkcp utility you can refer to the Oracle TimesTen API Reference Guide. -
Oradim error while initializing oracle database instance
I am trying to install the Oracle 91 personal edition for windows 98 on a windows Me PC. After all the files for the database are copied, I get an error for the file "Oradim" and then a prompt to close all programs and restart my PC. Restarting the PC does not help me either.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Error? What error? I don't see an error. I just see the name of a file.
Fortunately we've all seen that file name enough to know what your error is anyway
I have downloaded this file from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Can anyone help me in this.You failed to follow the download/install instructions at two different points.
The first was on the very page you cited as the source of your download, where it says
*"- Make sure to download and unzip both files to the same directory. "*
I'm willing to bet you a cold one that you either downloaded only one file, or you downloaded both files but unzipped them into separate directories.
The second point you missed was in the Installation Guide where it lists the acceptable Operating Systems under "Database Software Requirements". It lists all the various versions of Windows, including this line:
Windows 7 - Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions
Notice the absence of any "home" editions . . . -

Slow Initial Database Connection
I think I have a slowness issue with the initial Oracle database connection. When I try to connect initially, the connection , it takes a long time. Is there anyway to speed this up...
I am using encryption and jdbc on oracle.
This takes a good 20 - 30 seconds....
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
PARAMETERS.put("oracle.net.encryption_client","REQUIRED");
PARAMETERS.put("oracle.net.encryption_types_client","DES40C");
PARAMETERS.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_client","REQUESTE");
PARAMETERS.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_types_client","MD5");
PARAMETERS.put("user",user);
PARAMETERS.put("password",password);
connect = DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl,PARAMETERS);Didn't I answer this question?
The process of encrypting the connection, and generating MD5 checksums for each message sent over that connection both take considerable time to set up and the only way to make it go faster is to throw more processing power at it (i.e., get a faster computer), or switch to a far weaker form of encryption (but that means we can break the code in mere minutes).
This is a known feature. This is why the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Reconniassance Office (NRO) have more supercomputers than any other US Government Agency.
If time really is a factor, then I suggest that you drop the MD5 requirement. MD5 essentially confirms that you have received all of the data you are expecting (and in a particular order) and no more than that. Attempting to decrypt DES also confirms that you have received all of the data you wanted (in the correct order) and no more than that. In other words, the two functions are redundant.
However, MD5 is a one way function whereas DES is two way; DES allows you to decrypt the message itself, but MD5 only allows you to confirm that the message is genuine. Hence, drop MD5 in favor of DES.
If you're really interested in rewriting the DES and MD5 schemes for more speed, do some reading on the cryptography forums, or check out an appropriate book at the library. -
Help needed in deleting nodes from RAC database
Our DB is 10g RAC database and the servers are Window 2003 server. Initially the database was configured to have 4 nodes. For some reason we stopped the instances in the first two nodes and the current database is running on node3 and node4. I queried the v$thread view and it shows 3 records. Thread 2 is closed and disabled. Thread 3 is open and public and thread 4 is open and private. Now we need to disconnect nodes 1 and 2 from RAC db and cluster ware (We use Oracle cluster ware) and plan to use those two servers for other purposes. Although I read through the Oracle doc regarding deleting node from RAC “11 Adding and Deleting Nodes and Instances on Windows-Based Systems” and wrote down the steps we need to take but I am still not comfortable in doing it since it is production env and we don’t have any dev env to practice those steps. So I would like to borrow your experiences and your lessons learned while you were doing those. Please share your thoughts and insights with us.
Thank you so much for your help,
Shirleywhat's your full version? I can warn about specific issues in 10.1.0.3 and 10.2.0.1 - for example, in some cases (depending on how the listener was configured), it will be impossible to delete the listener for the deleted node. Known bug.
To avoid many many known bugs, you may want to upgrade to at least 10.2.0.2 before removing a node (from my experience, this is the first stable RAC version).
In any case, deleting a node is a rather delicate process. I really really recommend practicing. Take any pc/laptop, install VMWARE, define two virtual machines, install RAC and remove one node. It will take you an extra day or two, and could save your production. -

Here my problem is i am trying to upload the data from flatfile which contain materil number, denominator, Actual UOM, Nominator field values.
Which is the data i need to upload into MM02 and MM01, if material number is new then it has to create the material, if material is already existing it has to update the UOM values.
here i am getting data into my internal table INP_DATA, from that i am trying to upload the data to database by using job name MRP_MATERIAL_MASTER_DATA_UPLOAD with direct input program RMDATIND.
when i execute my program i am getting success message all the records writtin from flatfile to application server. and job started message.
then if i go into sm37 screen there i execute the job it is also giving active message. if i refresh it it is showing job completed message.
then i look at job log status. there i found that for existing material it is expecting material type, for new material it is giving some gravity error.
So could u help me in this it will be gr8.
Thanks & Regards,

Java framework/toolkit for POJO, database persistence and XML
Hi all,
I've been wondering if there's a toolkit or framework for developing Java program (could be standalone Java program, EJBs etc.)
I surfed around casually and found some but there isn't any detailed description of what and how each framework/toolkit does. So I hope to ask around if you've anything that you have used before and would like to point to me to look further.
Given the huge number of open source toolkits, libraries and frameworks out there, it can be quite confusing as to which one is more suitable for me. Also with Sun's move into JDO and Java Persistence API, things become more messy and complicated - there isn't any clear leader in this area and things are starting to change with the inclusion of JDO which seems to be the future standard persistence API to use.
So far, I've only worked with Hibernate for database persistence before. So I'm wondering if there're other options such as Hibernate with XDoclet, Castor and Spring framework etc. that can easily transform Plain Old Java Objects (POJO) -- hopefully using Java Reflection w/o using mapping XML files like in Hibernate -- into SQL for database persistence and XML text data and vice-versa. The current problem is that I've been spending tons of time writing code to transform data in Java objects into XML (using my own format) and also doing mapping files for Hibernate.
I am hoping for something simple like:
Object o = new Object();
o.setProperty = "something";
String xml = o.toXML(); // Convert object to XML text.
o.save(); // Save to database.
// The reverse: Parse XML into object and load from database
Object o = new Object();
o.fromXML(xml);
o.load();
// Properties should be initialized from database or XML.
Anything similar to this out there?Hi,
Just to share what I've found after surfing a bit more on this issue to promote more discussion on this area.
For mapping of Java objects to XML, we can try looking more at Castor and JAXB.
For database persistence to/from Java objects, look at Hibernate and JDO.
There is this Hydrate project (hydrate.sourceforge.net) that I do not know where it fits in still. But it is supposed to do data transformation and mapping between Java objects, XML and database representation.

I hope, that someone can help me. pLZ... and ... before running es-inst you have to add the PostgreSQL packages from the Solaris Media (5.10 U5 in my case)
Step order again:
- kill all postmaster processes (PostgreSQL Procs)
- if applicable svcadm disable all sunmc services
- /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-uninst -X
- remove all SUNWpostgr* and SUNWpg* packages
- install these Packages - to be downloaded from http://www.sunfreeware.com/indexsparc10.html:
libgcc-3.4.6-sol10-sparc-local.gz , zlib-1.2.3-sol10-sparc-local.gz , readline-5.2-sol10-sparc-local.gz
or - the x64 respectively
- edit /etc/project to have this line for "default" : default:3::::project.max-shm-memory=(priv,2684354456,deny)
the value have to be calculated by one third of your physical memory.
- add the original postgreSQL packages from the Solaris install media :
SUNWpostgr-libs
SUNWpostgr
SUNWpostgr-contrib
SUNWpostgr-devel
SUNWpostgr-server-data
SUNWpostgr-server
SUNWpostgr-jdbc
SUNWpostgr-pl
SUNWpostgr-tcl
SUNWpostgr-docs
- run es-inst again from your install image path -
Dear Experts,
I hope that everyone is fine and healthy. I am stuck with SAP EH&S problem and as SAP EHS consultant, I was hoping that we can share knowledge. . I was hoping that one of you guys can help me. I want to upload substance with open content connector for SERC database with XML file but I am not able to get the initial load from XML file in to SAP. I have already created RFC and I can call OCC from CG02 via data determination but I cannot upload substances from XML file via OCC to SAP. Has anyone got experience with initial SERC database via OCC ?
Can you give me some advice?
Thank you in advanced for your help.
With kind regards,
MaywandDear Maywand
it is not "clear" how you have prepare the OCC and XML file to be used in upload.
To use OCC you need to prepare "mappings" etc. Starting from hit list you can do as mentioned by Ralph initlal upload and delta upload.
Do you get a "screen" showing the spec (some core data like identifier) and the data you would like to upload? Which "preparation" steps to use OCC has been done? (check OCC documentation on your local file for proper set up of OCC and check the OSS note mentioned in SAP online help etc. etc.)
May be thiscould be of interest:
Examples of Data sharing demands in SAP EHS Management using XML
Rule Sets / Secondary Data Determination
As shown in second document: there are not more that 20 thread regarding OCC. Seems to be that this tool is either not used or that no issue come up in use.
C.B.
PS: aas mentioned in Import of Data - Specification Management (EHS-BD-SPE) - SAP Library
There are two options to use OCC. One in dialog modus (online) and second offline modus. I assume you would like to use first mode? -
SAP Netweaver MDM 7.1 Installation with MS SQL Database
Hello Experts,
I have installed MDM 7.1 System on IBM AIX and connected to Oracle database. I have observed whenever we create Repositories MDM Created Table Spaces/ Data files under the one Oracle_SID that is how it should be . Now we had to install MDM on windows machines using with MS SQL DB. I have installed it and connected to MS SQL Server.
The problem is when ever we create or copy new repositories it is creating new database for each repository under MS SQL Server, Although we have created a separate SQL Database and mentioned the same name while initializing the database connection.
Example while connecting MDM For first time to the DB , I have used 4 schema options , Now if i create a new repository it is creating 4 Database instances under MS SQL DB. On oracle it will just create Table Spaces.
Is there any one who worked on MDM Using MS SQL DB. Is this a problem or This is how it works on MS SQL ?
Please help , I really appreciate your help.
Thanks,
RaviHi Ravi,
As per my understanding this is the standard behavior of MS SQL Database. I think this is how it works.
Please Refer, Step III>> of this blog where he states that For each repository, there are two databases XXXX_m000 and XXXX_z000. /people/balas.gorla/blog/2006/09/08/change-tracking-in-mdm
Also refer, Here it says connect to database for repository.
Step 3) Connect to Database u2013 RepositoryName_Z000 and then open table A2i_CM_History http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10cbe10c-0654-2c10-3d8b-ff99dadc402e?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true

Accesing mysql database from threads
Hi
dont know if this is the right place for this
I'm building a server-client application, on sever's side I create a thread for every client who can request several operations over a mysql database (insert, delete, update, etc), at some point 2 clients can request the same operation over the same registry (2 clients trying to delete the same registry, for example), I try to avoid that to happend, so before doing any operation over the database I check the correct status (a registry must exist to delete, or not exist to create, for example), this is the code that makes that (for inserting a registry):
//first I make sure the registry does not exist
sql = "SELECT id_grupo FROM adm_grupo WHERE nombre_grupo = '" + nomGrupo + "'";
res = bd.ConsultarSQL(sql);
//If already exist, the operation is rejected
if (res.next()) {
EnviarError("Error al Crear el Grupo: Ya existe ese nombre");
return -1;
//Check point ends
//If not, the insert statement is made
sql = "INSERT INTO adm_grupo VALUES (NULL,'" + nomGrupo + "','N')";however, since it could be 2 threads (every thread is an object) doing that, the first one can pass the check point and stop because its processor time is over, so the second can start its insert process and pass the check point too (because the first one didn't have enough time to insert the registry), then both registries are inserted causing a logical error, I thought in fixing that problem using the synchronized keyword for the functions, but I read that keyword blocks 1 object that can be accesed for several threads, but in my case I have several threads, everyone accesing its own object, so I'm not sure if the synchronized will work, I dont know any other solution to this,
thnx in advance for any helpSure. But test it. You'll need to test it regardless, just to make sure it all works.
In general, I usually prefer to have the backup tool create the initial SQL database archive on the primary server, zip it, and to then have the backup server in a trusted network location pull the database archive over to the backup server. (It can then unzip it or process it as needed.) With this, the primary server doesn't have access to the backups, nor to the backup server. This intended to isolate the access that a breach of the primary server might permit.
