Insert a number of rows for tabular form based on frequency value

Hi,
I have a page with two search items.
Based on the values in the search item, a report is created as tabular form.
The information displayed has a frequency column.
Values for frequency can be Q, Y, M, D
I would like to know if it is possible to to load the form with a standard numbers of row depending on the frequency.
Example: If frequency is Q ,then when i click the go button in the search region, the tabular shoud load with the information displaying 4 rows, even if the information returned is less than 4 rows.
If frequency is Y ,then when i click the go button in the search region, the tabular shoud load with the information displaying 2 rows, even if the information returned is less than 2 rows.
When no data is found, the form should load displaying a number of empty rows depending on the frequency.
Thanks

Following this example:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:209
you should be able to achive that.

  • How to add a new row in Tabular Form based on a table

    Hi
    I have tabular form based on a table.
    I want the table to have an empty row when there is no data
    in the table so that I can enter data directly.
    But right now whenever the page is launched, its showing a no data found message and I have to press the 'Add Row' button to enter data.
    Can anyone help me out on this?
    Thanks

    Hi Leo
    Your suggestion works fine in the APEX 2.1
    But in 3.0.1 it gives this error :

    I am not sure why this happens.

    All,
    I have a tabular form with an 'ADD ROW'-button.
    When a row is added the field 'TemplateID' should get

    I would be very glad, if someone has a hint for me.

    Hi
    the cause of not seeing the 'Default Item Field' is,
    that during creation of a 'Tabular Form' the column with the
    primary key doesn't get that feature, why so ever.
    I still hope that someone could give me a hint why that code isn't working:
    function SetNewID(vDBID)
    v_check = $v('P20_MAX_TEMPLATEID');
    pNd = $u_Carray(vDBID);
         for(var i=0;i<pNd.length;i++){
              var node = $x(pNd);
              node = $x_Check_For_Compound(pNd[i])
              var lTr = $x_UpTill(node,'TR');
    updateRow = lTr.rowIndex - 1;
    document.wwv_flow.f02[updateRow].value=$v(v_check)
    Many thanks in advance

  • Add Row on Tabular Form - column from read only to update/insert allowed

    APEX 4.2.2
    Newbie in the APEX forums, go easy please.
    I'm building a rather simple tabular form based on a table with a primary key (emp_number). Sounds like an Oracle tutorial but trust me, it's a real table. This table has, for this example's sake the following attributes:
    Table Name: EMP_EXCEPTIONS
    EMP_NUMBER      NUMBER (PK)
    UPDATE_EXEMPT VARCHAR2(1)
    I've used the Tabular Form wizard to create a nice looking tabular form page, all good and works as intended. Of course the primary key value is non update able by the wizard and that's by design - I've no need to update any primary keys. When I click the add rows button however, I'd like to be able to include the emp_number field as a input able field. At the moment, when I click the add rows button it inherits the property of the emp_number as read only. The user entering the new row would know the employee number and whether they were update_exempt or not. So rewinding my head in Oracle Forms, this would have been done by setting the row attribute as update allowed when the button is clicked. Is there such simple functionality in APEX and if so can you point me in the right direction?

    It seems to be true:
    - if there is ascending order on columns which fields are null in new line (have no default value), new row is visible in current "pagination" page
    - but if there is DEScending order OR ANY sort order is set on columns which fields are NOT null in new line (have default value), new row is NOT visible in current "pagination" page
    thank you!

  • How to create validation only for created rows in tabular form

    Hi all,
    I have a simple question. Is it possible to create a validation for tabular form which will be fired only for created?
    There is a possibility in APEX 4.1 to choose two types of "*Execution scope*" first is "*For created and Modified Rows*" and second is "*All Submitted Rows*".
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Jiri

    Hello Jiri,
    >> Is it possible to create a validation for tabular form which will be fired only for created?
    You can still use the scope of For created and Modified Rows and use a PL/SQL Expression condition of:
    :APEX$ROW_STATUS = 'C'You also need to change Execute Condition to For Each Row .
    Hope it helps,
    Arie.

  • Multi Row Update for Tabular Form

    1) I'm trying to understand how the built-in MRU works for tabular forms: While running through every row, does it check for changes before issuing an UPDATE or does it blindly UPDATE every row in the current pagination range?
    2) If I need to write my own Multi Row Update process for tabular forms, could someone give me some tips on how to do that?
    Thanks,
    Pavel

    1) It stored a checksum for each row that it renders. It calculates the checksum again before processing the rows. The UPDATE statement it issues has a predicate like where old_checksum!=new_checksumSo, it only updates the rows that have at least 1 column value that is different (causing the row checksum to be different)
    2) See the howto at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/tabular_form.html

  • Highlight Row on Tabular Form

    I would like to be able to highlight a row of data on a tabular form based on a certain data column. I have found many posts on here that reference standard reports but is there a way to highlight an entire row of data based on some criteria for a tabular form?
    Thanks!

    Hi all.
    I do everything like it is described in this thread, but it doesn't works! Please, help me to find out the reason.
    So, I have tabular form. I have copied Report Template called "Standard" and renamed it.
    Then I modified it by adding Column Template 2:
    <td bgColor=886666 #ALIGNMENT# headers="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" class="data">#COLUMN_VALUE#</td>
    In Column Template 2 condition I have chosen 'Used Based on PL/SQL expression'.
    Column Template 2 Expression is:
    '#CNT1#' = '1'
    (CNT1 is the name of data column).
    Column Template 1 I leaved as it was in standard template.
    Template of report is : 'Reports region'
    Report template is : 'Template_that_I_modified_from_standard'
    When I run the page, I see all the rows, but no highlighting insead of the condition is true for several rows.
    Please, help me.
    Regards,
    Kseniya.

    Hi,
    Anyone knows how dynamicly delete rows from Tabular Form (on button click, button is as item)?
    Thanks.

    I am in a great fix. We had a test instance.. and we had a version apex 3.2.. But when the same application has been uploaded to prod.. we used apex 4.0.Why on Earth would you do this? The whole point of the testing is to verify that the application will work in the production environment: the first requirement for this is that the test and production environments are equivalent.

  • Different number of rows for different columns in JTable

    hi
    I need to create a JTable with different number of rows for different columns...
    Also the rowheight should be different in each column...
    say there is a JTable with 2 columns... Col1 having 5 rows and column 2 having 2 rows...
    The rowHeight in Col2 should be an integer multiple of Rowheight in Col1
    how do I do this ??
    can anybody send me some sample code ?????
    thanx in advance

    How about nesting JTables with 1 row and many columns in a JTable with 1 column and many rows.
    Or you could leave the extra columns null/blank.
    You could use a GridBagLayout and put a panel in each group of cells and not use JTable at all.
    It would help if you were more specific about how you wanted it to appear and behave.

  • HTML in SQL for tabular form

    I am trying to use HTML directly in SQL statement for tabular form (see SQL below). When the tabular form runs it is not converting the HTML so it displays as this:
    Manala<span style="color:blue;">pan</span>
    Am I missing something?
    select
    "PK_ID",
    "CODE",
    decode(instr(upper(city_name),upper(:P3_SEARCH)),
    0, city_name,
    substr(city_name,1,
    instr(upper(city_name),upper(:P3_SEARCH)) - 1)
    || '<span style="color:blue;">' ||
    substr(city_name, instr(upper(city_name),upper(:P3_SEARCH)),
    length (:P3_SEARCH))
    || '</span>' ||
    substr(city_name, instr(upper(city_name),upper(:P3_SEARCH)) + length(:P3_SEARCH) )) "CITY_NAME",
    "STATE_CODE"
    from "#OWNER#"."ZIP"
    where upper(city_name) like '%' || upper(:P3_SEARCH) || '%'

    Right. The HTML is correct but the only way it will display right is when I changed the field attribute to 'Standard Report Column'. Unfortunately, that removes the field from being a text field (input).

  • What is the maximum number of row for a table control in LabWindows/CVI ?

    I use LabWindows CVI 8.5.1 (MMI first developped in version 6.0).
    In one of our many MMI, a table control contains a list of aircraft parameters.
    We can add as many parameters (row) as we want but over 40 000 we observe a crash of the LabWindows CVI runtime.
    Our client want to inscrease the number of parameters (row) up to 200 000 !!!
    So my questions are:
    What is the real maximum number of row for the table control ?
    Is this maximum number of row different on LabWindows 2010 version ?
    Or is there an other solution ?
    Thanks

    Greetings,
    Can you clarify what you mean by "crash"? Is there an error message thrown? Is it possible that you've consumed all of the available memory?

  • Dynamic Form in Tabular Form i.e SET VALUE

    Hi,
    I have an tabular form ,
    In which two column are there i.e username and department
    Just I wnt to know can dynamic action i.e SET VALUE CAN BE USED IN TABULAR FORM.
    AS I CHANGE THE USERNAME THERE PERSPECTIVE DEPARTMENT SHOULD CHANGE.
    can anyone help.

    Hello Trent,
    I too, am attempting to set the value of an item when another item is changed.
    I need to capture the APP_USER changing the row for each row changed in the tabular form when submitted.
    My table is in a remote database that is not allowed to have APEX loaded directly in the instance (or db link TO the APEX instance).
    Can’t get the APP_USER making the change at this level, as the APEX code is not there.
    The instance that hosts the APEX installation accesses the table via a view through a db link.
    Can’t use a trigger on the view to set the APP_USER using APEX functionality.
    Not desirable to re-invent the IUD wheel using instead-of triggers.
    The example you posted on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11 is exactly what I need (even though your example sets the value on Lose Focus and I Set value on Change).
    I am attempting to implement the dynamic action for the item using your javascript, and am almost there....but not quite. The dynamic action is updating the target item in ALL the rows in the tabular form, not just the one that is being changed.
    This, I am sure, is due to my inexperience with Dynamic Actions, jquery syntax, and the javascript API’s for APEX. I believe I know what the issue IS, I’m just not sure how to work around it.
    Please note: I attempted to download your example at the above website (turning off popup blockers), but had no success (I got the thank-you for downloading message, but have no clue what was downloaded to where). I was hoping to compare your form Dynamic action with mine to see where I went wrong.
    If you could please, review the following and:
    1)     let me know what might be different from your working example?
    2)     provide info on how to get your working form downloaded (such a tease to have the download link there and not get it to work ;0} ) , please?
    The following shows the html from view source for a row in my tabular form. This will help you get an idea of the items. The actual number of rows in the form is about 50.
    <table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" summary="" class="report-standard">
    <tr class="highlight-row">
    <td headers="CHECK$01" class="data">
    <label for="f01_0002" class="hideMe508">CHECK$01</label>
    <input type="checkbox" name="f01" value="2" class="row-selector" id="f01_0002" />
    </td>
    <td headers="JOBNO_DISPLAY" class="data">X111Y2222</td>
    <td align="center" headers="DEPR" class="data">
    <label for="f03_0002" class="hideMe508">DEPR</label>
    <input type="checkbox" name="f03_NOSUBMIT" value="1" id="f03_0002_01"
    onClick="if (this.checked) {apex.jQuery('#f03_0002').val('1');}
    else {apex.jQuery('#f03_0002').val('');}" />
    <input type="hidden" name="f03" value="" id="f03_0002" /></span>
    </td>
    <td headers="UPDUSER" class="data">
    <label for="f04_0002" class="hideMe508">UPDUSER</label>
    <input type="text" name="f04" size="16" maxlength="2000"
    value="MOMSDAT" id="f04_0002" />
    </td>
    <td headers="DERIVED$01" class="data">MOMSDAT</td>
    <td headers="UPDDATE" class="data">13-DEC-11
    <label for="f02_0002" class="hideMe508">JOBNO</label>
    <input type="hidden" name="f02" value="X111Y2222" id="f02_0002" />
    <input type="hidden" id="fcs_0002" name="fcs"
    value="DB31F7B9ED99E6A2F7295F6B7D236409">
    <input type="hidden" id="frowid_0002" name="frowid"
    value="AAATI3AAGAAAAIXAAo" />
    <input type="hidden" id="fcud_0002" name="fcud" value="U" />
    </td>
    </tr>.....
    <tr>.....</tr>
    </table>
    To help explain:
    I have a checkbox associated with array name f03_NOSUBMIT,
    This checkbox OnClick updates a hidden item associated with array name f03. The hidden item is linked to the depr column of my view/table (this functionality is straight from Oracle’s tabular checkbox wizard – works great, no problems).
    When the check box is changed, I need to capture the APP_USER value in the UPDUSER field associated with the f04 array (nice that the array names matched up with your example :0} )
    To do so, I created a dynamic action:
    Name: Set_Upduser
    Sequence: 10 (it’s the only DA)
    Event: Change
    Select Type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name=”f03_NOSUBMIT”]
    --note: the event does not fire if I use f03
    --since that value is not actually
    --changed until submit with this
    --method.
    Condition: - No condition –
    True Actions:
    Sequence: 10
    Action: Set Value
    Fire When Event Result is: True
    Fire On page Load: Unchecked
    Stop Execution On Error: Checked
    Set Type: JavaScript Expression
    JavaScript Expression:
    var row = $x_UpTill(this.triggeringElement, 'TR');
    var otherElement = $('input[name="f04"]',row)[0];
    otherElement.value = '&APP_USER.';
    Selection type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name="f04"]
    This ALMOST works...
    When I run the page and click on just one check box, the UPDUSER fields are updated with the APP_USER for ALL the records, not just the row for the checkbox I clicked. And, if I submit the changes, ALL the records in the table now have the APP_USER in the UPDUSER column. Not just the column where the check box was changed (Which would be expected since all the values are changed in the form – hey, the submit part works :0} ).
    Your example at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11 works, setting the value for the target field only for that row. If I can get mine to work the same way, I will be good to go (as in hog-heaven, doing the Snoopy Supper-Time dance).
    I am thinking my issue is with the row identification in the
    --- var otherElement = $('input[name="f04"]',row)[0];
    I seem to not be picking up the row value in the row var.
    Am I reading line correctly where 'input[name="f04"]' is pNd, and row is pValue? Read the description of the $x_UpTill API, not sure how this is working to identify pValue (Row?).
    Additionally, I am not sure what the [0] is for at the end of the otherElement var definition. I don’t see that listed with the $ JavaScript API parameters (Google wasn't much help there either).
    OR, am I missing something else?
    Once again, if you could:
    1) let me know what might be different from your working example? (What does yours have that mine doesn’t)
    2) Provide any info on how to get your working form downloaded at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11. Please, please?
    As always, your assistance is greatly appreciated!

  • Tabular forms based on pipelined functions - can it be done?

    Hi there,
    Pipelined functions are great, specially when you want to encapsulate the access to tables instead of just SELECTing from them (what I am doing a lot in my current project.)
    However Apex 4 does not like them, at least not for tabular forms...
    I want to handle myself the update/insert/delete process, so I don't need the MRU default functionality (all the access to the data is via APIs). But at the same time I want to just SELECT from my pipelined function and set the item types using the builder interface as with any tabular form (without having to use the apex_item API). Also I want to be able to use tabular form validation.
    To start with, you can only create a tabular form based on a table or view. To overcome this issue, I created a dummy view with the fields I wanted and created my tabular form on it. Then I changed the FROM clause to FROM TABLE(myfunction). It didn't work as it seems it tries to select the ROWID for each row... Of course my pipelined function doesn't return one but I don't need one anyway as I will be doing the data manipulation myself based on the PK.
    For this to work, I had to create a collection, populate it with the result of the pipelined function in a page process every time the page is loaded, create a view on that collection and base the tabular form on the view... A lot of work and overhead for something that should be very simple in principle.
    Then, I found out that if I remove the default MRU process that is automatically created, the tabular form validations stop working (as I posted in another thread). So I have to leave a "dummy" MRU process there with condition = never for it to work.
    The application I am working on is all based on API calls and pipelined functions so all this work has to be repeated for each tabular form that is needed.
    If it was possible to base a tabular form directly on a pipelined function it would be such an elegant solution.
    Is there a better way to implement this? Shouldn't Apex be more compatible with pipelined functions? (at least in regards to tabular forms, they work well with normal forms, reports, LOVs etc)
    Thanks
    Luis

    As I mentioned before, I don't handle inserts (well, I cheat).... On my page, there is a form to set up a request - prompts for a few things, and when submitted, calls a stored procedure:
    :P2_REQUEST_RESULT := Simon.Apex_Campus_Guest.Setup_Request(:P2_GROUP_NAME,
           :P2_COAS_ORGN, :P2_START_DATE, :P2_END_DATE, :P2_Quantity, :P2_Generic_Names);
    Which creates an APEX collection, which in turn is made visible via a pipelined function turned into a view:
    create or replace view Apex_Campus_Guest_Request_va as
    select seq_no,
            user_name,
           group_name,
            comments
      from table ( Apex_Campus_Guest.Request_Result )
    I have a second region which is tabular form on a query - conditional on select 1 from Simon.apex_campus_guest_request_va (the view defined above).
    When this submitted, I have standard MRU and MRD processes (Seq_No is the primary key). This then runs into the appropriate trigger - the update trigger is as follows:
    trigger Apex_Campus_Guest_Req_Upd
    instead of update on Apex_Campus_Guest_Request_va
    for each row
    declare
            cg_rec  campus_guest_maint.rec;
    begin
            cg_rec := Campus_Guest_Maint.Request(
                            name => :new.user_name,
                            group_name => :new.group_name,
                            comments => :new.comments);
    end;I don't know off hand why it isn't asking for a rowid - but may be that I specified a PKEY column. The insert case fails, as it tries to add a "Returning" statement in the original select. I actually find that annoying as a function is defined to allocate the PKEY from a sequence, so it doesn't need to ask for it that way.
