hello there,
i am trying to insert a trademark symblol to my swf dynamicly
using XML,
i tried every thing i could "caved the xml in every format
known to man kind, wrote some AS script to replace thin join, i
tried to hard code the symble" but nothing worked.
i am running flash8.
help is needed plz.

got several different text fields some runtime some author
environment and sample text. Works for me on Mac and on the PC I
checked. Let me know what you find out.
As for System.useCodePage it is very seldom an actual
solution to the problem. It is a solution for when you want to be
sure that the user's Flash Plugin uses the computer's code page for
text rendering. Read the help entry for it and you will see that it
is not a solution for making sure that the most people possible
will correctly receive my text. It is more a solution for, I want
to make sure that those with Chinese operating systems are able to
correctly see the Chinese text I have encode with my special
encoding.
Most questions that get a "Oh, you must use
System.useCodePage answer" are more like, "I want to make sure that
everybody on every type of system can see my special characters."
The answer for that tends toward proper use of UTF-8 and that is my
guess for your problem. That your XML file is not being saved as
UTF-8. If System.useCodePage is helping you that tells me that your
XML editor is saving to some odd (maybe very popular, but not
UTF-8) encoding.

Aside from that, your problem might lie in the following lines...
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("sub_container1", 1);
loadMovie(sub_SWFPath[1].attributes.url, "sub_container1");
You create the new movieclip, sub_container1, in the _root, but you do not assign the loadMovie to load into that same movieclip (unless you have a _lockroot = true assigned in your sub-swf). In any case, you should repost in the AS2 forum to pursue resolution.

Dynamically Using XML Element name as column names

I have a requirement where I need to show data for 31 days or days of the month based on the data in the xml result.
Based on the month you are running the report, some may have 28 elements and some may have 31 elements in the data for days.
How do I dynamically show 28 columns or 31 columns etc - the trick here is I have to use the name of the XML element and not the value for column names.
My requirement is like this.
Deal --------01 -------- 02 -------- 03 -------- 04 05 .upto ... 31days
Deal 1 : 22218 : 32218 : 11918
Deal 2 : Qty1 : Qty2 : Qty3
I need to be able to use the XML Element names , Day01, Day02 etc as the column names in the report.
How can I use the XML Element name - in this case I need to remove the "Day" and use just the number part for the column name.
I can't have xml element names as numbers, thats why "Day" string is prefixed.

Create Crystal Report Dynamically using XML based design metadata

Hi,
I have a CR Report Development environment. Please refer to workflow and requirement description below;
I have a Java application(Report Customization Tool), which allows users to dynamically select structure and content for a report.
The process goes as follows:
1. In Java Application, user first gets option to select Report Header, Page Orientation, Font etc for master report.
2. User can select a sub-report (pre-developed report frames. Not Sure about tool.) and apply the same format option (mentioned in step 1, except orientation) to it.
3. User can select individual row/data cell to be displayed on the report through reference to DB tables in sub-reports.
4. There can be N number of sub-reports each with independant formatting, data and data layout that could be integrated in single report.
5 Once all selection is done, Java code generates an XML with all this info.
Now, my requirement is dynamically write CR report based on this XML. I am not using BO enterprise, hence RAS SDK is out of scope. This report will be called thorough stand-alone .NET application in CITRIX environment.
Can we do it in CR XI/CR 2008?
Please feel free to comment in case you need more info. But I won't be able to post screenshots. NDA of course!

I moved your post to the NET - SAP Crystal Reports forum.
To start, you have a fair bit of work ahead of you. The Crystal reports SDK will not do the job. You will have to use the InProc RAS SDK which is included in both CR XI and CR 2008. I'd recommend going with CR 2008 as CR XI R1 (11.0) is out of support now and CR XI R2 (11.5) will be out of support come June of 2011. Next, make sure you have applied SP 3 for CR 2008:

Create pdf file dynamically using XML

I have a Webdynpro application where I want to print the data for 'N' number of employees using adobe interactive forms. I have designed the form for one employee. I want to use the same format for the rest of the employees. Can any body please guide me how to go about this.

In your context , create a node MasterNode of cardinality 1...1 and singleton set to true. Bind this to the dataSource property of the InteractiveFormElement.
Inside this MasterNode create a node Data of cardinality 0...n and singleton set to false. Keep all of your payslip attributes inside this node.
In your interactive form element , in the Body Page create a subform of Type Flow Content and Flow Direction Table .Check the chechbox for Allow Page Breaks within Context . Inside this subform create another subform of Type Flow Content and Flow Direction Western Text . Uncheck the checkbox for Allow Page Breaks within Context . Put all of your pay slip UI elements inside this subform and bind them with the attributes under the node Data. Also tick the property of the inner subform under the section Object->Subform that says Repeat Subform for each Data Item
In your view controller coding area , create an element of the node Data for each employee record and populate it with values for the particular employee .
Add all of the elements that you created into an ArrayList and bind this ArrayList to the node Data. Now your form is ready for n number of employees.
Put this sort of coding in your view controller coding:

If you are web deployed you can put an animated gif as the image to an iconic button.
Image items cannot display animated gifs.
Anything else you can do through a JavaBean if you need to.

Dynamically update swf file in sharepoint using xml data

Hi,
I need some help/enlightenment on how to auto-update the swf file in sharepoint using xml data.
I am encountering an error "Cannot access External Data" and pointing to adobe's Cross-domain policy file extension.
My questions is:
1. Where should the cross-domain file be copied? In the sharepoint webserver's root folder?
Right now, we generate the swf file from xcelsius and manually upload them in the sharepoint. However, we wish to automate the data content of this file.

GetFileByServerRelativeUrl.... since you're getting a FILE, you'll need a URL to a FILE (not just a library)... by SERVER relative URL, so you'll need to include the site collection path and such, not just the subsite relative URL.

I have created one procedure for parsing xml file which is working perfectly.

         INSERT INTO Test_AP VALUES t_tab(i);Now I want to put the table name dynamically+. For that I have added one query and modify above code as follow:-
I have already declare dml_str varchar2(800) in declaration part.
Query is as follows:-
select table_name into tab_name from VERSION_DETAILS where SUBVERSION_NO=abc; -- here abc is variable name which contains values.

Put the assignment before FORALL.
FORALL only accepts one subsequent DML statement (static or dynamic SQL) :

Captivate 4, interaction SWF using XML and the Reviewer tool Problem

Hello everyone!
I am an advanced AS3er and am only months old working with Captivate 4. I've found some cool ways to use Captivate and incorporating swfs that use CSS and XML for their dynamic content builder and interactivity as well. However, I've run into a problem:
The Reviewer tool will NOT display my swf interactions that use XML, however when published as a course, I can see them perfectly fine (once I move over my css and xml folders after publishing)
Has anyone found a work around for this problem?

Not sure if you want to control the audio used in Captivate of if you want to control you own audio form files loaded externally. If you try to control the audio associated with captivate, believe me it will be a mess. I tried it once and hit so many hurdles that I gave up. The Captivate framework is not meant at all for extending and adding functionality. I had to to create proxy classes that allowed me to gain access to internal variable but even then my control over audio streams was incomplete. Captivate completely lacks an eventing framework!
On an other subject, can you tell me how you got the swf to use the CSS and XML files? Do you have to manually copy them to a folder? Which folder?

Creating customised swf files using CF?

Hi all.
This is a bit of an integration question.
Marketing create wonderful swf brochures using InDesign to
let them have those cool page turning features. They embed urls
into the document to invite the reader to "click to make a
booking".
Fine so far.
What they have asked me is if there is any way we can
dynamically build these brochures so that:
a) clients can build their own and/or
b) the urls can have some dynamic content
For the latter, they want sales consultants to be able to
generate a brochure and send it out and all URLs in that brochure
will include the consultant ID (for clickback tracking and other
stuff)
I could do this easily enough using a PDF and CFDOCUMENT but
they want the final format to be SWF and to have all those
page-turner extras.
Is this even possible at the current state of Adobe
integration?

I think you are trying to explain how to load two swf's one with action
script and loading an other swf file which should be non action script.If
you read my requirement carefully.I have all the same type of swf's and
these swf are automatically created as a form of output for xcelsius dash
board software.Iam capable of creating individialu ipa files from these swf
files.So when I try to combine the same kind of swf files the first error
its giving is the file name which I have used in the xml.in the main file
name for the swf file its not considering the two swf file name in the
initial window.so the adt package in the command line is not understanding
the file name from the xml and the command prompt and giving error this swf
file does not exist.So please consider how to combine two swf files with AS3
into one ipa file.These swf files are not editable,Let me know if you find
any idea to achieve this

One swf loading multiple xml?

so- I have a gallery that pulls in an xml file... I'm trying
to have that gallery called and have a var as a placeholder for the
xml so i can use the same .swf and any xml based on whatever button
is pushed... i'm not sure how to do so- i have the gallery working
fine- i just need the 'xmlData' to be dynamic... if anyone could
help out- i've never had to do this before and it's a bit
stressful.
as is- and working fine... the gallery.fla has this to pull
in the xml:

xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad =loadXML;
xmlData.load("xml/projects.xml");
i just need to figure out how to have the buttons in a
master.swf open the gallery.swf and a corresponding .xml file...
which i know how to do in the master.fla- i just don't know how to
set up the second fla to parse the corresponding xml based on which
button is pushed... would i set up an array that included all the
possible xml files?
pretty much this is what i'm trying to make happen:
projects_mc.onRelease - loads gallery.swf with projects.xml
staff_mc.onRelease - loads gallery.swf with staff.xml
etc...

there are 2 options
number one -
use the loadmove function with 2 swf's
ex:
on(release) {

One frame 1 of the 1.swf put in the as:
xmlData2 = new XML();
xmlData2.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData2.onLoad =loadXML;
xmlData2.load("xml/projects2.xml");
then do the same for the second button (easier if there small
files i think)
solution 2 (more problematic) -

Dynamic custom XML in resource gantt

I want to create a Ressource Gantt Chart based on a dynamic XML - Source.
Here is what I have done so far:
1. Create a Table GANTT_INFO:

3. Create a new region based on <chart><flash chart><gant><resource gantt> with the following SQL - Query

FROM GANTT_INFO
order by emp_id
4. Copy static XML - Source in the Chart XML as custom XML
Now I want to generate this XML - Source dynamicly using a DB - Procedure called by a Application Process and link the result into the Chart XML as custom XML.
Is there a possibility?

If you carry out a search on the forum on the topic of handling CLOBs, you'll see that many others have posted about this topic. For example, this particular thread - Returning a Clob to an Application Item - refers to my late colleague, Carl Backstrom's extremely useful packaged application, which demonstrates the use of AJAX to save & edit over 32k of text in a textarea, called "Save Large Value" on our Packaged Applications page on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-express/packaged-apps-090453.html#LARGE. Carl's example can be modified to make use of my previously suggested On Demand process, for the generation of your chart data. In the process you would need to create a collection called CLOB_CONTENT, and add the data clob to that collection, and also remove the setting of the textarea page item from the end of that process. The clob_Get() JavaScript function in Carl's example would then retrieve that clob value from the collection. Currently that value is being returned to the P3_TEXTAREA item on pg 3 of the application, however you could modify this to suit your needs and reference your own existing page items. Your chart custom XML will reference the textarea page item now holding the data retrieved via the clob_Get() call, and your data will be displayed on your chart.
I recommend downloading & installing the "Save Large Value" example, and try modifying that to suit your needs. I hope this helps.
