Insert child record when user commit parent data

Hi everybody,
My use case is an admin users page, where users add new users to application. So they specify user_name, last_name, .....
I'd need to insert in a child record whose FK is user_name which was introduced by user in the parent table, just in the commit stage.
How can I achive it? I'm user Jdev 12.1.2
Regards,
Jose.

well leave that example...
How you commiting the first row.. are using commit operation.Commit in bean using java code like this.
public static OperationBinding findOperation(String operationName) {
   OperationBinding op = getDCBindingContainer().getOperationBinding("Commit");
   if (op == null) {
      throw new RuntimeException("Operation '" + operationName +"' not found");
   return op;
. and after this you can get instance of vo of second VO. then create row
ViewObjectImpl demo1 = am.getEmployeesDemo1();
       Row r2 = demo1.createRow();         // Creates a row in ViewObject
       r2.setAttribute("EmployeeId", 001); // you can set all values
       demo1.insertRow(r2);                //Insert that row in ViewObject
       am.getDBTransaction().commit();     //Commit the changes
       demo1.executeQuery();

  • How to update child record when item from parent record changes

    Hi, I have a master and detail form with two regions on the same page.
    Region one references parent record, one of column in the parent record is also in the child record. And is one to many relation
    between parent record and child record. How can I have the column on the child record updated when the column of the parent record is being modified?
    For exemple; Parent record has two columns : ID and Program.
    Child record has Program, goal# and status. I have two pages established, page 27 and page 28.
    Page 27 list out all programs from parent record, by clicking on edit to a program, it braches to page 28 with program listed as editable field in region one, and mulitple records list in region two from the child record with the same program.
    The problem that I am having is once the program in region one got modified using ApplyMRU, the program in child record did not get updated with the new value and therefore those record become orphan records. I need a way to update all current child records with the new program value.
    Thanks in advance for anyone who can hlep out on this problem.

    One Idea is
    If possible create a after update database trigger on the parent table to update the relevant child record.
    Next one
    Create a PL/SQL process on the parent page with process sequence next to ApplyMRU, so when the ApplyMRU is seccessfull it goes not to your process where you can have your update statement

  • To find all the child records are processed before parent records

    Hi,
    When i am trying to process consignment pulls and my client is using third party tool to insert the data into interface tables. My logic is written in such a way that it should pick parent record associated with child but there is some delay in child records and not all the child records are being pulled with parent.
    In a brief, i need to write a condition in such a way that my parent cursor should pick all the child records with max(last_updated_date) and then it should be processed.
    eg: I have a family and need to catch bus with all my family members. I need to check now for the last family member who get into and should wait for atleast 2mins so as to ensure all my family members are in. I am unable to achieve this with count. Please do revert back soon.
    Details are below:
    CURSOR c_pull (p_pull_id NUMBER) IS----------------------------------parent cursor
    SELECT ecp.ROWID ROW_ID
    ,ecp.*
    FROM consignment_pulls ecp
    WHERE ecp.process_flag IN ( 2, 3 )
    AND ecp.pull_id > NVL(p_pull_id,0)
    ORDER BY ecp.pull_id
    FOR UPDATE OF ECP.PROCESS_FLAG NOWAIT;
    CURSOR c_line (p_pull_id NUMBER) IS----------------------------------child cursor
    SELECT ecpi.ROWID ROW_ID
    ,ecpi.*
    FROM consignment_pull_items ecpi
    WHERE ecpi.process_flag IN ( 2, 3 )
    AND ecpi.pull_id = p_pull_id
    FOR UPDATE OF ecpi.process_flag;

    Hi Helios,
    Thanks for the info. But its not a concurrent request something like we can filter with start date and completion date. Its all about selection of records from headers and lines table and not able to make those selection of header records with a delay of say some 2minutes until all the child records are inserted.
    Thanks,

  • Inserting multiple records in JSP and setting date format

    Hi,
    I'm looking at the possibilities for using JSP's as a web application.
    I've got a few questions about it:
    1) Is it possible to insert multiple records in the detail block of my JSP. Normally when I click the 'insert button', an insert JSP comes up, which is a html form with the possiblity of inserting only one record.
    2) Is it possible to change the format of a date field. Now a date field is displayed as 'YYYY-MM-DD'. My nls_date_format is something else.
    3) I can't get the static combo box working for the class EditCurrentRecord. The normal use combo box is no problem. Probably, I don't have the syntax correct. Could anyone provide an example for this.

    2) Just use the Calendar object. You can format the date any way you want. I am assuming that you are talking about how the date appears after a .toString() call.
    Here is how I do it (this code will probably look very bad I am trying to type into a very small space so bear with me):
    public static String traceDate(java.sql.Timestamp dt)
    try
    if (dt == null)
    return " ";
    else
    Calendar clFmt = Calendar.getInstance();
    clFmt.setTime(dt);
    return
    String.valueOf(clFmt.get(Calendar.MONTH) + 1) + "/" +
    String.valueOf(clFmt.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH)) + "/" +
    String.valueOf(clFmt.get(Calendar.YEAR)) + " " +
    String.valueOf( (clFmt.get(Calendar.HOUR) == 0) ? 12 : clFmt.get(Calendar.HOUR) ) + ":" +
    padLt(String.valueOf(clFmt.get(Calendar.MINUTE)),2) + ":" +
    padLt(String.valueOf(clFmt.get(Calendar.SECOND)),2) + " " +
    (clFmt.get(Calendar.AM_PM) == Calendar.AM ? "AM" : "PM");
    catch (Exception e)
    throw new RuntimeException(e.getMessage());
    (padLt is a custom function that just pads 0s to the left of the number)

  • Inserting a record when we have a mixture of Session and web page values...

    Hi
    I just want to ask whether my solution is correct or not.
    I should insert some rows into database table, each row has a userID field which i have in a Session Scope bean for each user.
    now when i want to insert a row into those specific tables that has userID field i do the following:
    -create a form with all required field (using adf faces components), all elements has binding in backing beans, so i can access its values in backing bean
    -put a save button in the form.
    -create action for that button
    -in the action i use ViewObject for that specific component to insert the new row from Form values and that specific value from session scope bean.
    but i feel that it is not the correct way, I think ADF BC + Faces components should have a better solution for this.
    in case that you have better solution for this, please let me know.
    thanks

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post.
    At the first step when i read you comment i create that method and drop it into the page as a command button and i get the result that i described.
    at the second step made some editing to aaPabeDef.xml .
    -First i tried and create a new invokeAction under the executables node. I gave it an ID (Exec2) and set the refresh condition to what you said.
    Also i select createRowWithUserID as Binds for this InvokeAction.
    Now i tried to create an Action under the bindings node, but when i select Action from pop-up menu and i select the required Data Collection, i can not see exec2 in actions combo box.
    Now i drop the method into my page from Data Control plate and run the application
    result is not what i want, this time it shows too many messaes in my browser about
    required fields (fields that i used on the page and are manedatory)
    After i press the button and page refreshs all values are gone from the input boxes.
    here are images :

  • Problem in Date Format when user chages the date format in preferences

    I want to generalize my code so that user can change what ever Date format he wants, I will get the date from the page in the format yyyy-mm-dd, and if the Date Format is
    set to MM/dd/yyyy in prefernces i need to use MM/dd/yyyy and if the Date Format is set to dd-Mon-yyyy in prefernces i need to use dd-MMM-yy, so my question is how to know what Date format is set in the preference so that i can have all the possible date format for inserting the date
    Thanks
    Babu

    Babu,
    The date format in OAF Pages is controlled by profile ICX: Date format mask.This profile can be set at site as well as user level for the individual users to set the Date format.
    But I would advice not to go for setting different profile values at user level, because i remember some old threads, where seeded Oracle pages fail, as code their is not generalised to handle date formats.
    If your are planning to have this in ur custom page, go ahead, but do check the entire flow is working fine for different values of this profile at user level.

You are pulling a recordset of the entire group of photos.  Do you still want that comprehensive recordset on this page?  How many other images do you want?  Are you trying to make a master/detail pair where this page displays only the details for a single image?  See what I mean?

  • Tabular:Row Filter - If filtering on child record you still get parent records back that are not "parents" of that child record

    I have a tabular model that has States (StateID, StateName)
    Then I have Cities (CityID, StateID,CityName)
    Employees(EmpID, CityID, Login ID)
    When I then go and setup a row filter so that my Employees table filters on their windows login name so they only see a few CITYIDs per employee.
    =Cities[CityID]=LOOKUPVALUE(Employees[CityID],Employees[Login Id],USERNAME(),Employees[CityID],Cities[CityID])
    The table Cities is related to States via PK States[StateID] and FK Cities[StateID] (so the arrow goes from Cities and points to States)
    What gets odd here is that when I connect with a user who only has cities in 2 states, I see OTHER states for which that user has no cities.
    I don't understand that.  If they have Cities of Des Moines (Iowa) and Madison (Wisconsin) why are they seeing any states other than those two states?
    The user sees ONLY the cities they are supposed to...why are they seeing States that aren't related to their cities?

    Hi,
    The DAX formula you posted was fine. Have you define the relationship between "Employees" and "Cities" tables(Employees->Cities)?

  • Cdc- deletion of parent- child records

    Hi,
    I am working with CDC-consistent feature in odi.
    Here my scenario is, I have a record say 120 (primary key) in table A(parent source table) and it is used as a foreign key in Table B.
    both child and parent are inserted into the concerned tables of target.
    Now i want to delete this 120 record from target parent and child tables.
    IN the pkg i arranged the pkg scenarios as follows
    odiwaitforlogdata----->source model(with extenwindow and lock subscriber option selected)------>parent pkg scenario------>child pkg scenario----->source mode(with unlock subscriber and purge journal options). ------------> This works fine for insert and update.
    odiwaitforlogdata----->source model(with extenwindow and lock subscriber option selected)------>child pkg scenario--------->parent pkg scenario----->source mode(with unlock subscriber and purge journal options). ------------> This works fine for delete.
    Can't I achieve these two in one pkg
    Please Guide.

    Thanks, one question...
    I did a test and it seems the child rows have to also satisfy the parent row's where clause, take this example:
    EVENT_ID|PARENT_EVENT_ID|CREATED_DATE
    2438 | (null) | April 9 2013
    2439 | 2438 | April 11 2013
    2440 | 2438 | April 11 2013
    select * from EVENTS where CREATED_DATE < sysdate - 9
    start with EVENT_ID = 2438
    connect by PARENT_EVENT_ID = prior EVENT_IDSo you've changed the condition about only wanting roots and their children, and now you want descendants at all levels.
    This pulls in record #2438 (per the sysdate - 9 condition) but 2439 and 2440 are not connected. Is there a way to supress the where clause evaluation for the child records? I just want to pull ALL child records associated with the parent and only want to do the date check on the parent.Since the roots (the only rows you want to exclude) have LEVEL=1, you can get the results you requested like this:
    WHERE   created_date  < SYSDATE - 9
    OR      LEVEL         > 1However, since you're not ruling out the grandchildren and great-grandchildren any more, why wouldn't you just say:
    SELECT  *
    FROM    events
    WHERE   created_date     < SYSDATE - 9
    OR      parent_event_id  IS NOT NULL;?
    CONNECT BY is slow. Don't use it if you don't need it.
    If you x-reference my original query:
    select * from EVENTS where CREATED_DATE < sysdate - 90 and PARENT_EVENT_ID is null -- All parents
    union
    select * from EVENTS where PARENT_EVENT_ID in (select EVENT_ID from EVENTS where CREATED_DATE < sysdate - 90 and PARENT_EVENT_ID is null) -- include any children of parents selected from above
    The 2nd select does not apply the created_date < sysdate - 90 on the children but rather pulls in all related children :)Sorry; my mistake. That's what happens when you don't post sample data, and desired results; people can't test their solutions and find mistakes like that.

  • ADF,how to delete parent record and related child record without manual cod

    Hi All,
    I'm using 11g adf.
    I have one parent table PAR and two child table CHD1 , CHD2 respectively.
    I'm inserting values in three tables , making a form having add , delete and edit buttons.
    Issue when i want to delete a record from PAR table , it gives child table record exists . i have did manual coding to delete the child records with related to the selected parent table PAR.
    Is there any process in ADF to delete the child records with respective selected parent record with out manual coding.

  • Parent/child records from same table

    I want to create a query that is a union such that the 2nd resultset is based on the 1st resultset. I have a table that has parent/child records in the same table.
    Table: EVENTS
    EVENT_ID
    PARENT_EVENT_ID
    CREATED_DATE
    (other columns)
    if PARENT_EVENT_ID is null then it is a parent record, else it is a child record. I want to select all parent records then union them with all the associated child records...something like this:
    select * from EVENTS where CREATED_DATE < sysdate - 90 and PARENT_EVENT_ID is null -- All parents
    union
    select * from EVENTS where PARENT_EVENT_ID in (select EVENT_ID from EVENTS where CREATED_DATE < sysdate - 90 and PARENT_EVENT_ID is null) -- include any children of parents selected from above
    This works but it's kind of ugly, I want to avoid using the sub-select in the 2nd because it is a repeat of the 1st statement, is there a way to alias the first statement and just refer to it in the 2nd query?

  • Do Data Found Error on Inserting a Record

    I am working in Apex 4.0.
    I'm getting this error when I click the "Create" button to insert a record.
    ORA-01403: no data found
         Error      Unable to fetch row.
    Since I'm inserting rather than fetching, why would I get this error? What do I need to do to suppress it?

    Arie, thanks for the response. I suspected the automatic Row Processing might be the problem. But I did not (and still don't) know how to fix it.
    Here's what's happening. The page involved is part of an insurance tracking system. At the time of annual renewal of a policy, we create a new record for the next year. This is done by including in the new record all usuable data fields from the old expiring record. I use a button to navigate to the current page (page 22 to page 22) and set values (from the old page 22) of items in the new page 22. The user then makes a couple of manual entries and then clicks the "Create" button which appears on the new page 22 since the primary key is null. The new record is then correctly inserted into the table, and the system branches back to a calling page. It is at this time that the error occurs.
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Error Unable to fetch row.
    A database trigger gets the new primary key from a sequence generator and puts it into the record on insert. Here's the SQL on the trigger:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER "UCC_AUTO_SEQ"
    BEFORE
    insert on "UCC"
    for each row
    begin
    select ucc_seq.nextval
    into :new.uccseq
    from dual;
    end;
    May be that I can fix this if you will explain to me what you mean by this: "My guess is that your page includes an ARF process and you didn’t set the return key item, or you didn’t use the RETURNING clause, so the ARF process can’t fetch the newly inserted record." Forgive my ignorance, but I do not know what a "RETURNING clause" is. I checked out the Source: Automatic Row Processing (DML) and found that the item labeled "Return Key Into Item" was blank. I put "P22_INSURESEQ" (the primary key item) into this field, but the error is still being thrown. The "Action Processed" message always appears in its own window just above the error message.

  • Problem of orphan child records

    I am working on Oracle 8i DB. The production database contians around 100 tables.About 60% tables are interrelated by referential integrity . However , there are some records found which are not such that child records are present without parent records .These occurs when some procedure handles some exception .
    Can I right some user procedure which can scan the schema and found child records which are orphan and user can be tld to correct ones.
    Prashant

    yes of course.
    Example:
    I have a table t_consumer with emp_id and location as pk with other fields.
    I haev one more table t_locations with location as pk.
    The tables are related that emp_id table location must be present in t_locations.
    However due to some constraints disablement during some ddl , some records in t_emp table are having location which does not exists in table t_location.
    There are about 100 tables in product DB with around 40000 records in each. I have to find records with such mismatch.

  • Need session variable after inserting a record.

    I have a page where I am setting up a new user.  After they enter their username, password, address etc. I am inserting the record when they press the commit button, then moving on to the next page.
    I have a session variable setup called user_name, which is also the name of the field in my table.
    My problem is that the value in my session variable goes away after inserting the record.  How do I retrieve the value of user_name?
    At the top of my 2nd page I have:
    <?php
         session_start();
         $_SESSION['user_name'] = $_POST['user_name'];
    ?>
    This gives me an index error.
    I also have session_start(); at the top of my first page.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    I figured it out by moving the variable assignment right before the redirect to the next page.

  • Removing child records

    Hi,
    I am using below code to delete the child records for a particular parent record in the Controller:
    But the problem is, it is going in the loop and says deleting records...but data is still present in detail table.
    Please help!
    if ("delete".equals(pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM)))
    MollyAMImpl am = (MollyAMImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    MollyUserDetailsVOImpl voChild = am.getMollyUserDetailsVO1();
    String rowReference = pageContext.getParameter(OAWebBeanConstants.EVENT_SOURCE_ROW_REFERENCE);
    System.out.println("ROW Reference =="+rowReference);
    MollyUsersVORowImpl voRow = (MollyUsersVORowImpl)am.findRowByRef(rowReference);
    String parentID = "" + voRow.getId();
    System.out.println("The Id value to be removed from child table is "+ parentID);
    voChild.setWhereClause("");
    voChild.setWhereClause("ID =" + parentID);
    System.out.println("Child VO Query to execute : "+voChild.getQuery());
    voChild.executeQuery();
    System.out.println("Remove - Child Query was sucessfull");
    int childRecords = voChild.getRowCount();
    System.out.println("Remove - child records to delete: "+ childRecords);
    Row childRow=voChild.first();
    for(int i=1;i<=childRecords;i++)
    childRow.remove();
    System.out.println("Deleting child record "+ i);
    childRow=voChild.next();
    am.getTransaction().commit();
    System.out.println("committed.....");
    System.out.println("All child deleted successfully");
    }

    Hi Gyan,
    Thanks for the reply. Please find below SOP values. I have checked the Query, Ids is correct there...
    ROW Reference ==MollyAM.MollyUsersVO1:MollyUsersVO1{74}
    The Id value to be removed from child table is 74
    Child VO Query to execute : SELECT MollyUserDetailsEO.ID, MollyUserDetailsEO.PKG_NAME, MollyUserDetailsEO.PKG_CASE, MollyUserDetailsEO.CREATION_DATE, MollyUserDetailsEO.CREATED_BY, MollyUserDetailsEO.LAST_UPDATE_DATE, MollyUserDetailsEO.LAST_UPDATE_LOGIN, MollyUserDetailsEO.LAST_UPDATED_BY, MollyUserDetailsEO.DETAIL_ID FROM XXE_FXX_USER_DETAILS MollyUserDetailsEO WHERE (ID =74)
    Remove - Child Query was sucessfull
    Remove - child records to delete: 5
    Deleting child record 1
    Deleting child record 2
    Deleting child record 3
    Deleting child record 4
    Deleting child record 5
    committed.....
    All child deleted successfully
