Insert file by type
Hi
Can anyone point me to a script or help me to make the
following:
In my CMS, I have a form to insert a file into my MySQL
database using PHP. What I want to do is to be able to upload
anyfile i.e Image, Flash, Movie and display it on my page. I am
using PurePHPupload, this bit I can so, but I need some sort of
switcher to display either image, flash or a .mov
Any ideas how to do this?

This mobile-compatibility stuff is new to me, so I'm learning as I go. Adding the direct URL link to the YouTube video under the widget that's now on my mobile page will be easy. I'd prefer for users not to go to the YouTube website -- it's very cluttered and full of links to other videos, ads, etc. -- but at least such a link will give users the option of going there if they really want to see my work and can't do it through a mobile YouTube app.
While there is no way of knowing, I suspect that the typical mobile user who might be interested in viewing a commercial photographer's portfolio will be on an iPhone or iPad. Apple so dominates the world of graphic designers, that every one of them I know has an iPhone and more and more use an iPad too. This is highly unscientific, but it is my impression. (I'm a PC guy, for what that's worth, but I love my iPhone.)
Anyway, if SlideShowPro Director for Mobile does what it is promising, all of this will be solved for all devices.

Wscompile insertion of schema types into wsdl file
The <types/> element is empty in my WSDL file after I compile the web service with wscompile. The operation parameter type is String. I am using Apache XMLBeans. How do I configure wscompile in JWSDP 2.0 to insert the schema types into the WSDL file when it generates the WSDL?

For example,

Then "Fred" will be in the "foo" namespace
And if you had another schema in your wsdl like

</xsd:complexType>
Then you would have two "fred" types one in the "foo" namespace and one in the "bar" namespace.
Then later on in your WSDL you could refer to either one. -
Hi there,
I have an issue with "File Browse" type item, my question is: at what point the fields mime_type, file_name, last_update_date get their values? I want to add them to the collection but if I try to do it in Process "On Submit - After Computations and Validations" the values in those fields are still null (that's for the insert, and for the update they have old values). Also I don't seem to be able to add blob to the collection ("File Browse" type item (which has the source as blob database column) can't be assigned as parameter p_blob001 of APEX_COLLECTION.ADD_MEMBER, error is: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'ADD_MEMBER').
What I am trying to do is this: I have parent table (TABLE1), and child table (TABLE2). In TABLE2 I store documents. I have a main page that is form on TABLE1, and on it I have button "Add documents" that opens popup window with form on TABLE2. On submit of popup page I want to avoid inserting document into TABLE2, instead I want to send data to the main page (using collection) and insert in only once the main page is submitted.
I would appreciate any advice on this...

I appreciate any help or assistance. I have been trying to update one of my books for for the past few days with no success. I really just need to change two letters. But since I was updating I thought I would make a couple more improvements. I clicked disable portrait and made my pictures a little bigger to fit the whole page. But now I keep getting this error for multiple sound effects throughout the book. ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets: assets/media/chick02.m4p" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage). I did not change the audio. The audio files are placed in widgets. I had no problem the first time it uploaded. I have recreated my whole book from scratch and it still does not work. Does anyone have a suggestion? I don't believe that would make any difference. Drag-and-drop is just a UI shortcut for using the menu items.

No. Each book is a stand-alone entity. It doesn't matter if the same audio file appears in another book.
From what people have reported here, it looks like there is a bug in the submission system. Other than trying the suggestions posted in the linked-to thread, I don't think there is anything you can do to fix it.
I would submit a bug report to Apple though. Quite a lot of people seem to be affected by this problem, and if they hear about the same problem from lots of different sources, that will (presumably) elevate the importance of fixing it.

works fine but when I copy paste objects to use 2-3 times on page 2 and 3 then after attaching different files at all 3 sections, I see only same type of files when using view attachments. I understand it is same like when making 2 fields name same act same together.
Please help me make the javascript run differently (as new) for each add attachment function.

I've just strated using Pages '08, and exploring it. But Pages Help and User Guide do not tell me how to insert the file path or filename in the footer, so that it's automatically updated whenever changed. It's not in the Insert menu, and cannot find it in Insert > Function.Hi Peggy,
Though that feature is useful isn't found in 10.4.10. The Devon Technologies WordService ReadMe file has the following:

Basically I've lost 10GB of free space over the last few weeks so my plan was to search for files modified in the last 2 weeks in order to figure out which ones are big and where that space went.
So I open finder, go to "File > Find", and enter a search:
Modified > In the last 2 weeks
All fine so far.
Problem is, it's showing whole directories as results. Which essentially means that when I order the list by size, Macintosh HD is at the top, followed by "Users", then "Applications", then one of my bigger movie files, then "Library", etc.
How can I do a search which will ignore folders? I want individual files. Knowing that Macintosh HD is the biggest item on my computer and was modified in the last 2 weeks is utterly useless to me.
Older versions of Finder in OS 9 had a feature where you could search for "files, whose type "IS NOT" folder", but OS X doesn't seem to have such a feature.
Can anyone help?How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

Selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match the original file's type
I've been using Premiere Elements 9 for a couple of years now, and a few months ago I began having problems importing AVI files created from a BlackMagic Intensity Pro capture card. (These issues were not previously occurring, and since they surfaced, I have exhausted the various settings for the BlackMagic card, used various software such as BlackMagic's own Media Express as well as the freeware VirtualDub, and still have the following problems.)
In addition, these AVI files play just fine, in their entirety, using Windows Media Player and in Quicktime.
The problem (or possibly two, but I suspect they could be related) is that most of the AVI files I attempt to import will either (1) import all video and NO audio, or (2) import ONLY a short segment of audio and video, and the length that Elements imports varies. Usually only in the range of a minute or two. The rest of the file is not imported at all.
After much digging in forums, and testing various settings in trying to figure out the issue, I decided to back up all of my files and completely wipe all hard drives and start over with a fresh installation of Windows and Premiere Elements 9. I haven't installed much else yet, as I wanted to first find out if the reinstallation improved things with Elements.
For the first project I created in Elements after the reinstallation, Elements successfully imported an entire AVI that was nearly 2 hours long, audio and video. This was a file that previously would not import properly into Elements. This suggested that my earlier installation of Elements must have been corrupted somehow. At this point I was very hopeful that all was well.
I proceeded to edit the video as I had wanted, saved the project, and exported it to an MPEG format file. I had originally wanted to export it as an MOV, but I hadn't yet installed Quicktime, so Elements couldn't do that just yet. The MPEG export was successful and plays fine.
However, I then installed Quicktime, and once it was finished, I restarted the PC and reloaded the same project. This time, Elements claimed the media was offline. I double-clicked on a segment of the video, and directed Elements to the raw file, but then an error message popped up: "The selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match the original file's type (audio and video)." This was the same file I had JUST edited and of which I created an MPEG.
I tried creating a new project and the "Get Media" function to import the AVI again, but this time only the video imported with NO audio. (This would explain why the error message said what it did, but not why the audio wasn't imported.)
What in the world is going on with Elements??? I am baffled since the ONLY task I have done on this machine after a complete reinstallation of both Windows and Elements is edit one AVI. I find it very hard to believe that just installing Quicktime caused this.
Some info on my system:
System: Asus P6T w/ Intel i7 920 and 12 GB memory
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Video Software: Premiere Elements 9
Capture Card: BlackMagic Intensity Pro (PCI-e)
Capture Software: AVIs recorded with either BlackMagic Media Express or VirtualDub (only prior to the reinstallation, as neither of these programs are currently installed)
I'm getting to the point with Elements that I might need to just abandon it and find something else that is more reliable. Anybody have suggestions to help with this, so I won't have to migrate?mtnsports
We think that we need to start off with definiting the properties of these .avi files that you are importing into Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 (assumed that you are working for the required 9.0.1 Update).
You say that the "avi" was created from a "BlackMagic Intensity Pro capture card". What are the properties of this .avi that you imported into Premiere Elements? Not all .avi are created equal. What is the video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio, typical duration?
Based on the properties of the video what have you been setting as the project preset?

Itunes 10.6.1.7 problem: when I change the file "media type" from 'Music' to 'Podcast' the file disapears from ITUNES. I do this via (1) right click, (2) select 'Get Info', (3) select 'options' tab, and (4) change media type. What is the problem?

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

That's what I get when I boot my Arch system. It worked fine for quite a while, but suddenly it ran into an error where the SCSI driver module was corrupt. I fixed it by reinstalling util-linux-ng and kernel26, however, I run into this issue now. http://www.pastie.org/2163181 < Link to /var/log/pacman.log for the month of July, just in case. Yes, I bought a new ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5450 this Saturday, but it seemed to work fine till this broke and it works fine on Ubuntu too, so I suppose we can rule it out.

Which means that sysfs was not mounted. You should be able to boot from the fallback image, which does not use autodetect. Figure out why /sys isn't mounted, as well, and fix that.
This is also a somewhat crappy bug in mkinitcpio that lets you create an autodetect image that's useless. It'll be fixed in the next version of mkinitcpio that makes it to core.

How do I insert the File Name? How do I update an old File Name that was previously inserted?
It's common practice to insert the document name in the footer of document, so people reading the document know what version the file was printed from. This was easily handled in the past version of Pages by going to the "Insert" menu and selecting "File Name". If you later modified a document, you could righ click on the inserted document name and the contextual menu would offer you the option to "Update File Name".
Pages 5 seems to be missing this functionality. The software help instructions offer zero mention of Insert File Name.
Has this been removed? If so, that's crazytown. If not, I'd sure appreciate being explained how to use this important feature.

Apple tries to clear out the bad reviews but with every new version they keep sinking lower and lower.
In the Australian M.A.S. it is getting almost 3/4 saying they don't like it, with almost 3/5ths saying they hate it. Worse than the previous v5.0.
I assume there were some who just quickly looked at it and didn't know what Apple had done. A few bad files and intractable problems later, and they are starting to wake up.
The problem with the reviews is that mostly people do it on first impressions and they can't go back and correct their review in the light of experience, until the next version comes out.

Make "Files of Type" box show more file types
I am using a file dialog VI to open a windows file dialog. I have defined custom file extensions to be displayed, but they do not all show when I drop the box down. I can't add a carriage return because it takes those literally. Is there any way to
1. Expand the box
2. Make the File of type drop down "word wrap" so the user can see them all.
As a final option, is there a way to make multiple custom patterns like shown below? I'm assuming so and may have missed it in the context help, but I didn't see anything about it.

It is cryptic and complicated and most likely an unintended functionality that happened by accident, since that is the way you have to put the data buffer into the data structure when passing it to the Windows API function for the file dialog. What seems to happen is that LabVIEW simply puts the pointer to its string handle contents into that structure and just goes on. In that, it is actually a potential security risk since one could try to devise a string that might cause some sort of buffer overrun or similar in the Windows function.
It also most likely is something that only works on Windows (and might actually cause even havoc on other systems), since the file dialog API on other platforms is very different (in Linux it still uses it's own LabVIEW specific dialog only). If someone really had made this on intention they would rather have spent time on making this a user friendly option of the diagram node, than trying to support this Windows specific string format on non-Windows versions.

Photoshop CS6 (Mac) crashes when opening files with type or using the type tool
Hi,
Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when using the type tool or when opening files with type on it. I've quit suitcase, disabled the suitcase plug-in, reset the preferences in Photoshop there's no crash report coming up either the application just dies! I am currently trying a system restore from time machine to see if that works!. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
