Insert single column into oracle table

i have a table t1 in whcih only one column is there
Create table t1
a number);now i need to load this column from a excel sheet.
it have many rows and many column but need only corresponding column.
please suggeest any way apart from external table and sql laoder.

No problem if you have thousands of rows.
Say the value you want to insert is in column A of your excel file.
In column B use the following formula:
=CONCATENATE("insert into t1 values (";A1;");")And copy this formula to all other rows.
Then select all the B column, copy it and paste it in a notepad file.
Call the file as you want, for example c:\ins.sql
open sqlplus and run
SQL> @c:\ins.sqlAt the end don't forget to commit...

I want to insert xml data returned by the VB code into oracle table.
As a prequisite I have installed the XDK capabilities for Oracle by installing JServer & running
SQL scripts catxsu.sql,xmlparserv2.jar,load.sql to load the XMLSQL Utility (DBMS_XMLQuery) into the database.
I have also granted following privileges to the user.
Grant users access to XMLParser and XMLDom packages:
     grant execute on xmldom to public;
     grant execute on xmlparser to public;
     create public synonym xmldom for sys.xmldom;
     create public synonym xmlparser for sys.xmlparser;
But still i am not able to create procedure which will accept input parameter as an XML document coming from front end which in turn will insert that record into simple oracle table . I am using Oracle 8.1.7

Would you specify the database version?
Since DBMS_XMLSave requires DOM, you normally need to divide the huge XML before insertion.

I need to insert records into Oracle10g table from VS2005 GridView using the Insert Method in Business Logic Class. The Update and Delete Methods are working fine. What's the best way out?

How is it "not possible"?
Either modify the Class for the new fields, or give the new fields default values (if applicable). If the type of an existing column has changed, then only the first option is available.

Insert single quote into the table

I have to insert values into a column that are retrieved by a select query on another table.
The values inserted have single quotes (').

If you get from one table and then insert in the other there shouldn't be any problem at all.

From My webdypro code I have 10 attributes which are need to be inserted into a ORACLE DB table. Can anyone suggest me how to achieve it or Can you please point me a tutorrial which can help on it.

How to insert & # special characters into oracle table?

I have a text value which contains special characters such as & and #.
After I pass from one page to another,
TEST& becomes "TEST&"
I put " " on the above test, otherwise amp; will be truncated by OTN).
TEST# becomes TEST (# is truncated).
Actually the value is saved in table like this: "TEST&"
How to solve this problem?

Avoid doing that through a link. If this is a page item then submit the page and redirect to the target page using a branching. On the target page, create a computation to compute the target item using the original page item as the source. If you are talking about a report, use the id to pass through the link and fetch the text column in an on load computation.

How can I insert multiple records into a table(Oracle 9i) from a single PHP statement?
From what all I've found, the statement below would work if I were using MySQL:
     insert into scen
     (indx,share,expire,pitch,curve,surface,call)
     values
     (81202, 28, 171, .27, 0, 0, 'C' ),
     (81204, 28, 501, .25, 0, 0, 'C' ),
     (81203, 17, 35, .222, 0, 0, 'C' ),
     (81202, 28, 171, .27, 2, 0, 'C' ),
     (81204, 28, 501, .20, 0, 1, 'C' ),
     (81203, 28, 135, .22, 1, 0, 'C' )
The amount of records varies into the multiple-dozens. My aim is to utilize the power of Oracle while avoiding the i/o of dozens of single-record inserts.

You could look at the INSERT ALL statement found in the documentation here:

My personal opinion is that you probably won't see any benefit because under the hood I think Oracle will still be doing single row inserts. I could be wrong though.
The only way to confirm was if you did a test of multiple inserts vs an INSERT ALL, that is if the INSERT ALL met your requirements.

Best Practice to fetch SQL Server data and Insert into Oracle Tables

Hello,
I want to read sqlserver data everry half an hour and write into oracle tables ( in two different databases). What is the best practice for doing this?
We do not have any database dblinks from oracle to sqlserver and vice versa.
Any help is highly appreciable?

Well, that's easy:
use a TimerTask to do the following every half an hour:
- open a connection to sql server
- open two connections to the oracle databases
- for each row you read from the sql server, do the inserts into the oracle databases
- commit
- close all connections

Is this with the Travel database or another database?
If it's another database then make sure your columns
allow nulls. To check this in the Server Navigator, expand
your DataSource down to the column.
Select the column and view the Is Nullable property
in the Property Sheet
